Missing CS3 installation disc?

I have misplaced the installation disc for CS3.  What to do now?

if you follow all 7 steps you can dl a trial here:  http://prodesigntools.com/download-adobe-cs4-and-cs3-free-trials-here.html
and activate with your serial.
if you have a problem dl'g, you didn't follow all 7 steps.  the most common error involves failing to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 (which adds a cookie to your system enabling you to download the correct version from adobe.com).

You're probably out of luck. The CS3 installer uses older system components that Apple long have removed from OSX.

I see others are in the same predicament - we've lost the installation disc for our CS3 design premium program and are hoping to find a copy, no longer available through Adobe. Any help would be most appreciated.

  • My iphoto is missing and i can't find my installer disc

My iphoto is missing and i can't find my installer disc. Help me please.

Do you use Time Machine backup? You could restore the app from there.
Did you go through the Applications folder?
Did you try to search for it using the spotlight?
    Did you look in Trash?
If it is no longer on your Mac, you'll have to purchase new install discs (Amazon, etc....)
Since you are on G5, App Store and direct download is out of question.

  • IWeb Application Missing, and I don't have the Installation Discs

Ok, so here's the deal. I want to use iWeb for a project I'm working on, but for some reason, iWeb isn't installed. A while ago I reinstalled iLife 08, and I haven't looked for iWeb since.
Unfortunately, I'm out of the country and I don't have access to my installation discs until December, which is too late, my project is due before then. What can I do?

The software I suggested shouldn't require you to download anything — it appears to be entirely web-based (and free).
But if you really want to use iWeb and you don't have access to your installation discs, then you could buy iLife '09 from various sources — for example, amazon.co.uk has some associates who may ship directly to you.

  • Missing installation discs

Ok, so I have a Macbook from June '06 with Tiger and a Macbook from August of last year with Snow Leopard. Somewhere along the line I have lost the original installation discs for the Tiger laptop. I would like to wipe the hard drive on the old laptop so as to sell it, but don't have the original discs, and when I try using the Snow Leopard installation disc on the old computer I get an error message. Is there anyway I can 1.) Get Snow Leopard to install on the old computer or 2.) Get replacement installation discs? Please let me know if either of these, or another option, will work.

You can call Apple Customer Support 1-800-767-2775, provide the Serial Number and specifications of the Mac, and for a fee, a replacement set of system discs (if available), can be ordered.
However, the discs will be for the original version of OS, that was pre-installed, when the Mac was manufactured.
     Cheers, Tom

  • Missing installation disc

I received my imac package on 29th July but there is no installation disc in it.

For info: If anyone wants to upgrade to 10.7 (Lion), it's a big download from the Applestore. And to get it you need to install the App Store application (from Apple but you need Snow Leopard for that to work which would require an upgrade to S. L. if someone is on an older OS). Then you need to get an Apple ID and what a palaaver that was - I already had an Apple ID which I used for these discussions but the App Store did not recognise it, even after three tries, so I had to create a new ID - three tries again - which equired giving my credit card details. Then the Lion download at the App Store did not appear to respond. The trick is to press on the price field right under the image of the lion and it turns into "Down load" (how intuitive is that?!).
I downloaded overnight successfully and after 24 hours now, no problems. (But see the Apple Discussion on Lion for complaints running at about 10 posts a minute! But I guess many people's problems are connected with esoteric or out of date utilities etc. or peripherals.)
If a backup DVD is wanted, you need to make one yourself BEFORE you install the Lion application (which arrives after the download is complete and disappears after it is executed). That is not a simple matter of copying - for instrucrions, see CNet:

  • How do I get an Installation Disc for Lion after I already installed it.

I am furious, with myself and Apple.... I started this journey of upgrading to Lion soley because I needed to increase the capacity of the HD on my early 2008 MBP. I saw that it was much easier with Lion, I didn't see or understand the part about only on brand new computers...
I have already upgraded the HD once before and had NO PROBLEMS... Time Machine back up and all that.
I am only a Mac user for 3 years... I love it... But some preconceptions die hard...
LIKE ....WHY CAN'T I MAKE A DVD OF MY INSTALL DISC AFTER THE INITIAL INSTALLATION OF LION?????? ESPECIALLY SINCE I DIDN"T GET ONE IN THE FIRST PLACE???
Yea, I didn't read the fine print, I had to make one at the time of installation.... I didn't know that I wouldn't be given the chance again????
Darn Darn Darn.... I only upgraded as a step along the path of upgrading the Hard Drive.... NOW I CAN"T WITHOUT MAJOR HEADACHES.... Grrrrrr
    LOL
So, Apple... if you are gonna distribute your OS this way... fine... but jeez, how about making it so we can get an installation disc after we missed the chance on initial installation???
    What do I do?

Thank you... I will take your advice and relax...
    OK will do.
As you can tell, I totally disagree with apple on this.... It should be a DEFAULT that the ability to make a DVD start up disc is always there... not the other way around.
I have spent hours on this upgrade... upgrading the Snow Leopard, upgrading to Lion, Installing new hardware, re-installing new hardware, re-installing the old hardware...
Some people, like myself, have the ability to DIY, but I don't have the incredible highly detailed inside knowledge that I apparently have to possess...
    Thanx

  • How do I install apps off of the OS installation disc?

My mother recently got her MacBook fixed at the Apple Store. Her HD crashed and they put a new one in it with a fresh copy of Tiger.
But for some reason, PhotoBooth is missing from her Applications folder now (it was previously there as she loved taking pictures using the built in iSight... as all mothers do)
I assume I should be able to install it from the OS installations discs that came with her MacBook. Is it a simple process to just install the one application or do I have to do a complete restore?

How to Use Pacifist to Replace Deleted or Missing OS X Components
Insert the OS X Installer DVD into the optical drive. Use a simple utility like TinkerTool to toggle invisibility so you can see invisible items. Alternatively, open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and at the prompt enter the following:
    defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles Yes
    Press RETURN.
To turn off the display of invisible files repeat the above command substituting No for Yes.
The install packages are located in the /System/Installation/ folder on the DVD.
Download the shareware utility Pacifist from VersionTracker or MacUpdate. Use it to extract a fresh copy of the missing item(s) from the file archives on your OS X installation DVD. The file archives are in the /System/Installations/ folder (use Go to Folder option in the Go menu of the Finder.)
Here are Four Basic ways to use Pacifist (courtesy of George Orville.)
    A. Drag a .pkg icon onto the Pacifist window .....proceed to step 7.
    B. Click on “Open Package ....” and navigate to package desired and click “Open” in the open/save window.....proceed to step 7.
    C. Insert Mac OS X installer CD and when it mounts, navigate to .... Menu->Go->Go to Folder.
In the path field enter or paste ....
/Volumes/disc name/System/Installation/Packages (where disc name is the name of the CD/DVD that you inserted.
    • Click on the "Go" button .....
    • Drag a .pkg to Pacifist..... proceed to step 7.
The package you'll need will have to be discovered by trial and error, but for most applications you should start with the Essentials.pkg and/or Additional Essentials.pkg.
    D. Insert your Mac OS X install disk 1 .... and open Pacifist.
    1. In Pacifist, select "Open Mac OS X Install Packages" ... dialog may appear asking for disk 2, then disk 3 and finally disk 1 again.... {if DVD is not used)...If “Stop Loading” is selected...the procedure will stop!!!
2a. When loading is complete, a new window appears, click the triangle to display contents of each package...Select item and proceed to step 7.
2b. or click the “Find” icon in the Pacifist window and type the name of the software you need.
    3. In the list that comes back, click the top most entry for the item that you want. ..... that is the one for the English language.
    4. On the top of the Pacifist window, click “verify” .... you will probably be prompted for your password.
    5. Enter checks for.... “verify permissions” and “verify file contents.” and click “verify” ....enter password when prompted.... you will get back output which may look like this:
    20 files were scanned.
20 of 20 files were present on the hard disk.
0 of 20 files had file permissions that did not match those specified in the package.
0 of 20 files had checksums that did not match those specified in the package.
    6. Click “close”. Go to step 7.
    Extract or Install........
    7. In the Toolbar (upper left), you now have the option to extract or install. Click a file in the lower list and those two icons will be enabled.
    8. If “Extract to...” is selected.... navigate to the location where the file will be placed, select “choose”, select “extract” in new dialog that appears, authenicate , if prompted, click “OK”.
    9. In the next dialog, click “Extract”.
    10. If “Install” is selected... dialog will appear with the location/path of the installed software. Click “Install”
    11. Type in your password, click “OK”
    • Pacifist will begin to extract files.
    12. In steps 8/10ß.... you also have the choice to “cancel”
    Notes.....
    • Pacifist may find that a file it is installing already exists on the hard disk. Pacifist will present you with an alert panel....
    Stop
    Leave original alone
    Update ..... Default selection
Replace .... Replace option should only be used on full install packages

  • MBP 15" 10.6 does not boot up from Installation disc, why??????

    Good day,
my question is simple, so please let the answer be simple:
I have done partition on my MBP today, in order to give me more redundancy in case of a Hard drive failure. I witnessed one yesterday on a brand spanking Imac--> not pretty--> the white screen of death!! I thought I´d better cover myself and I split my HD in two--> no probs.
Anyways, I decided to try to boot from my original installation disc--> 10.5.7, Leopard.
I booted while pressing "C", or holding "Option"……and always ended up with the same thing:
It just takes me to a language selection screen, I selected my language, and then it takes me to the software installation--> but I don´t want that--> I just want to reboot from my disc--> as a general test. (Just in case of that dreaded white screen, one day!!)
So, I went to to "Stop installation" in the menu above, and I chose "Reboot" and then I chose my installation disc--> and again and again, it just takes me back to the language screen etc etc etc!!
    It´s like a Merry go Round………….
    What am I missing??
My Snow Leopard installation disc does exactly the same, by the way…………..
    Cheers,
    MXP 150 Patriot

"perhaps I didn´t explain myself properly:
I would like to boot up from my installation disc, in other words, being able to log in and see my Desktop etc.
All I get from my disc is an installation menu (after the language selection) and if I try to boot up from there (to my desktop / background etc) by selecting "stop installation--> start up disc".........it goes back to the language selection and the software installation........just where I was 3 minutes ago!
    What am I doing wrong?
My friend booted up the other day from his FireWire external hard drive and he got everything, SO quick! His personal desktop, everything!
Hopefully you can tell me what I´m missing........."
You're missing the point. When you boot from your installation disk it's to install the OS and/or repair the disk and check the hardware, etc.. Your friend has a bootable external drive. he used the OS Installation disk to create that.

  • Can I use a mac os x installation disc on my macbook

I bought my macbook in 2007 and now I have to re-install macOSx. But my "istallation disc nr.2" is missing. I could borrow other 2 installation discs but I don't know if they'll work on my computer. They came with an iMac and they are from 2008, a newer version than mine. Can I use it, or should I buy new installation cds? (I have nr.1, need nr.2)

Hi, and welcome to Apple Discussions.
You need the discs that came with the MacBook.
For further information, you may want to post in the _MacBook Forum_.
You have posted in an iBook Forum.

  • CS3 Installer asks for non-existent DVD drive

I'm running CS3 on Windows XP. I need to reinstall because I somehow lost codecs for Premiere Pro. Whenever I try to reinstall, the CS3 installer puts up an Installer Alert that asks me to insert CS3 Master Collection Disc 1 into drive G:\ to continue installation.
That sounds pretty simple, but there is no G: drive on my computer. My two DVD drives are D: and E:, and inserting the disc there has no effect. Checking the Windows device manager shows no G: device recognized anywhere on the computer.
I can only click OK, which returns the same alert, or Cancel to cancel the installation. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out how to get the CS3 installer to ask for installation disks on an existing drive. What's particularly annoying is that the installer is running from a DVD in drive E:, so you'd think it would know to ask for further discs in drive E:. I've tried it as well from drive D:.
Any ideas for getting the installer to stop asking for discs in a non-existent drive?
I've toyed with the idea of completely uninstalling CS3, but am afraid that the installer still won't work, in which case I won't be able to get any work done using CS3 at all.
Thanks for any and all help,
    Mike Boom
