Missing cursors

I'm running CS2 in Windows 7. I just got a new machine at work with Windows 7, and our IT group did the re-install. They said the re-install went just fine, and it works great, except, some of my cursors went crazy. The move tool, the crop tool, the slice tool, the healing brush tool, the clone stamp, the eraser tool, path selection tool, pen tool. The cursor should appear just like the icon, and instead, I’m getting what appears to be three of them side by side but smaller and ghost like. When I try to load the tool presets there are none for those tools. I've looked at the Tools presets and compared it to another machine at work that is set up like mine except with Windows XP professional, and I seem to have all of the same TPL files, Art History, Brushes, Crop and Marquee and Text. They work fine on the other machine. Only difference is operating system.  Any help anyone?

  • Yoga 2 Pro stuck volume, missing cursor, onscreen keyboard unusable

I'm having several issues with a Yoga 2 Pro laptop running Windows 8.1 that's about a year old.
    1) Volume is stuck at 0. I can raise the volume, but it automatically lowers back down to zero, as if the volume-down key is stuck. The volume indicator is always onscreen.
    2) Cursor is missing, however I can still right click/left click. Also, the cursor will reappear when I uninstall the Synaptic touchpad drivers.
    3) The onscreen touch keyboard is unusable. I can click on the icon and it pops up, but it immediatly goes back down.
    4) Side screen charms won't stay on screen (example: pressing the F10 key or project screen the side menu pops in but immediately pops out, similar to the keyboard). Also if I swipe in from the right and try to use anything (devices, settings, etc.) it does not respond
    5) Pressing the start key doesn't bring it to the start screen, but holding it down for a few seconds does.
The above problems still exist in safe mode.I'm thinking it's a hardware issue or a bad connection of some kind. I've tried:
    1) Removing/reinstalling various drivers (touchpad, audio, graphics)
    2) Disabling services (YMC comes up often when looking at trackpad problems, but this hasn't worked for me)
    3) Uninstalled/reinstalled programs (Energy Management, Transitions, etc.)
    4) Did a complete factory reset at one point, had no effect.
I've had the problem a couple times before, and one thing that DID work was to hold down the power button for ten seconds while the computer was off, then let it reboot. Unfortunately that solution is no longer working. The threads I've linked below have been the closest I've found to a problem like this, but neither of their solutions worked for me.

Any help would be much appreciated! Definitely affecting my usability of this otherwise wonderful machine.

Update in case anyone else comes across a similar problem: I ended up sending my laptop into warranty, and it came back a week later working completely. No idea what the problem, cause, or fix was, although they didn't replace any major parts (battery, cable, cpu, fan, hard drive, keyboard, touch pad, display, memory, motherboard...going off the list they sent back, none of those were replaced), so I'm not sure what to think. Not even a factory reset. I'd love to know what the issue was, in case it comes up again but am happy that my laptop is once again functioning in either case!

  • How do I restore missing cursor to google earch box

About three week ago I noticed that the cursor to my Google front page search box was missing.
The cursor IS available in the URL and Google Quick Launch boxes - but NOT the main search box.
I was running Firefox 6 when this happened. I have upgraded to Firefox 7 (Beta 6) but still have no cursor when using Google for the front page.
Can you please help me to restore this cursor?
    Thanks

It is now called simply "Play Store" and the icon is a white shopping bag with a multicolored play symbol (right pointing arrow/triangle). You should be able to find it when you click on the Apps icon (looks like s 4x4 grid of small white squares) on your home screen. It's not listed on the Application Manager.

  • Missing Cursor problem in Pages still exists

Beginning with page 97 of a document you cannot place the cursor at the bottom of the document anymore.
There already is an archived discusion on it but I don't find any further hints whether it is now a bug accepted by Apple:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2695065?start=0&tstart=0
I can reproduce this problem with all my books written with pages and without any import from other software. And I hope to continue to write books with Pages so I desperately hope that this will be fixed soon.
Is there any further hint available?
    Thanksalot

Again, thank you for the quick answers. Of course there are several work arounds possible. As speed is crucial to me writing books and as I layout them including a lot graphics right from the beginning I would have to change my way of working just because of a bug. And, isn't it is a Mac and not a PC? The bug is older than 18 months - that is not very promising. From our development of the CONSIDEO MODELER we are used to fix any bugs within 3 months. What is promising, is that the documents can be edited with no problems on the iPad. However, as the iCloud for the exchange of iWorks documents between OS X and iOS is still a bad joke I am not satisfied. Maybe Apple can improve both, the iCloud functionality and Pages.
    Fingers crossed

  • Missing cursor after sleep mode

How do I get it back?
It alomst always happens if I leave any application other than Finder active on the dock.
The more applications active on the Dock the more likely the cursor will not be there.
I've got a iMac OS 10.5.8 running Time Machine. I seldom close e-mail. Both Firefox and Safari are usually the only other things open. I've tried closing one or the other or both but the mouse randomly may or may not be there regardless of what's open when I leave the system.
    Thanks,
    Bob

Has been an issue from the get go with the Mac and this mouse?
    Try a different USB port.
Did drivers come with this mouse?

  • Missing Cursor

The cursor keeps disappearing when I use the trackpad. I normally have to move my finger on the trackpad for between 2-5 seconds before it 'wakes up' again.
Having looked on the forums it appears to be a 'feature' - in that it disappears when scrolling or using the back button via the keyboard etc.
If it is a 'feature' it is very poorly implemented, and at the very least the trackpad should immediately wake up once it has finger contact again.

The problem is that, with the extra large trackpad on macs, your fingers may accidentally hit the trackpad and knock the cursor all over the screen.
There is a setting in the "Keyboard & Mouse" preference in System Preferences that allows you to turn on "Ignore accidental trackpad input." When this is selected you must touch the trackpad in the center to reactivate it-- accidentally touching around the edge has no effect. This is a bit of a pain, but many find it preferable to having the cursor jump when you don't expect it.
If you don't like this feature, simply turn it off in the "Keyboard & Mouse" preference.

  • Missing cursor shadow...

Looking for older discussions I realize that this same problem exists since 2006:
When disconnect an external monitor the cursor shadow disapears. It is not a big deal, but it is a bug, and someday it must be solved. Anyone knows how to submit a bug to apple?
    Thanks,

  • Missing mouse indicator

    Hi,
I have a small yet sometimes annoying problem.
When I want to rename a file or folder in Thunar (I'm using xfce) I don't have a mouse indicator. I don't know if it's actually missing or if it is just white because at some letters a white pixel appears.
In Firefox this problem doesn't occur and I have the black flashing indicator in every form field.
I looked through my applications and noticed the missing cursor in the search field of geany or the typing field in gajim, too
I already tried different cursor themes and also gtk themes.
Anyone has an idea how to solve this?
    Thanks in advance.

Is it checked in the preferences?

  • MOUSE FROZEN - CURSOR GONE!!

I have a big problem now with a frozen mouse and disappeared cursor! While in Mac OS 9.2.2, not Classsic, a full verison of 9.2.2, (although version 10.2.8 is also installed), I was just trying to drag and drop about 19 files totalling about 31 GB of data from my old La Cie Firewire external hard drive to my brand new LaCie 250 GB external hard drive. Just prior to this, I had successfully done this same procedure with another old LaCie Firewire external hard drive to this new one. Now I can budge neither the mouse nor the missing cursor, and I hate to restart the computer, (scary!), as both Firewire drives' icons are open, though nothing is processing. If I restart, will I damage the drives or data? Please advise a.s.a.p!! Thanks a lot!!

    Hi, brainbytes -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
First try a software reset (force quit the running app, which includes Finder) - press the key combo Command-Option-Esc. If that works, you may regain control with Finder, at which point do a normal Restart.
If it doesn't work, the machine will stay frozen.
It is okay to do a force restart using the button on the computer - doing so should not damage the firewire drive(s). Firewire drives do not need to be unmounted prior to restarting or shutting down.
However, given that the freeze happened in the midst of a copy process, some damage may occur to the disk's directory, which may then need to be repaired. OS 9's Disk First Aid can not repair a firewire drive; OSX's Disk Utility can. Better would be to use a stronger utility such as Alsoft's DiskWarrior.
Since you have OSX on the machine, do not use Norton Utilities.

  • Cursor/Pointer Freeze

Whenever I hit the delete key, or use the keyboard to cut or paste, my cursor or pointer freezes or disappears for a few seconds (sometimes up to 5 seconds) and it is getting pretty annoying. I have used system preferences to turn of all trackpad "Gestures". I have also tried changing the tracking and double clicking speed...
My black MB is one week old... running OS 10.4.7.... Anyone have any ideas? Harware problem? Return it? OS problem?

I can assure you that "turning off ignore accidental trackpad input" doesn't solve this problem!
There is something else going on here.
It's as if the computer can't process the input from the track pad immediately when it is working on something else. For example, streaming something, downloading something or ripping something while using the trackpad on something else causes this missing cursor and/or frozen cursor problem.
It doesn't have to be something else that is process intensive for this to happen. I am listening to a stream of audio at 25kbps, and it is occurring as I type this and stop and use my trackpad and ponter now.
The cursor issue is persistent, but not continuous.
I can't believe more people haven't complained about this. Could it be an experience that is something unique to a small number of users?
It still happens if I create a brand new account on my machine.
I may call apple support. But I am not very confident that the person I get will have any solution to offer.

  • When will iOS Safari be able to edit posts?

I had hoped with the release of iOS 5 and the redesign of Safari that I would be able to edit my posts on my iPad 2. But unfortunately that's not the case. It's really embarrassing to make a simple typo in a post, then not be able to correct it.
SInce I'm now reading ASC mostly from my iPad 2, this basic and very irritating problem has discouraged me from posting at all. Does anyone have some news on when this will be fixed?

Mobile Safari can seem to handle the edit window pretty well, with only the occasional "missing cursor" where I need to close and open the keyboard to get it working.
The major problem is that I never get the "Edit" button to a post I've just submitted. So, as I said in my op, if I make a stupid spelling error, I can't get back into the post to re-edit it.
I like the new Safari, but I'm going to investigate using another browser for these groups (but ASC has been so slow lately that I haven't been reading many posts anyway).

  • MacBook Pro seems frozen during sleep

I just experienced an odd problem with my 6 month old MBP. I left the computer with the lid open and came back 30 minutes later and screen was black, as if it had gone to sleep. However, the sleep light was not pulsing and the computer would not wake through typing or clicking the trackpad. I tried closing the lid, and the sleep light went on solid, not pulsing. I opened the lid and the sleep light went back off and the computer still would not wake. Finally I just manually turned it off with the power button.
Has anyone else experienced something similar to this? Any ideas about what might be causing it? I have not recently downloaded any new programs.
    Thanks so much!

I have a similar problem. MacBook Pro 6,2 sleeps and wakes perfectly if I close the lid or manually select sleep from the Apple menu. If it sleeps from the Energy Saver preferences, however, it takes from 4 to 20 minutes for the indicator light to start pulsating. When I attempt to wake, I will get either a freeze or lock-up (spinning beach ball, or missing cursor and inability to do anything by trackpad, mouse or keystroke) or I will get a black screen. At this point, if I close the lid, the indicator light goes on steady. I have to shut down/restart using the power button. I got this computer in December 2010. I can't state with certainty that the computer has had this issue since day one -- I didn't notice the problem until I had let the computer sleep on its own, which was about two weeks after I first started using it. The only mod I have is the SSD drive I replaced the original HDD with, which I did before I even powered on the computer for the first time.
I worked with an Apple engineer for several hours (via phone) doing a variety of things such as resetting the SMC, logging in to a new account, booting into safe mode, and a clean re-intall of of OS X 10.6, none of which resolved the issue. I can recreate this freeze after sleep issue 100% of the time if I let the computer go to sleep via the Power Saver and wait several minutes, regardless of whether I am on battery or power adapter, safe boot mode, how many applications I have open, or what peripherals are attached.

  • Gnome3 background issues

    Hello folks,
after I was tired bothering with the missing cursor in cinnamon, I switched to Gnome3.
At first, I had background issues, the desktop was looking like this:
    >>moderator edit: Removed large image. Read Forum Etiquette: Pasting Pictures and Code. Thanks. --fsckd<<
Because of this, I tried other WMs, XFCE and Mate. After not being satisfied, I turned back to Gnome and had to discover, my background issues were gone.
I uninstalled other WMs and after the next reboot, the issues came back. So there seems to be a package solving the problems.
Can anyone tell me, which of the uninstalled could be the reason?

Wow, I have exactly the same issue on my laptop (Gnome 3.10 is the only one desktop and WM installed), since the latest upgrades : the backgroung seems to be all messed up, bad refreshing, sometimes it becomes all white, or the windows leave a trace... What's happening ?
My graphic chipset is : Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset, and I'm using the default driver provided by Archlinux.

  • CS6: layers panel glitch

This may sound trivial -- I'm posting about a missing cursor! But sometimes details do make a difference. In my workflow, I often copy objects from one layer to another in the layers panel. The UI provides visual feedback, the pointer acquiring a "+" sign to let me know that I'm copying, not moving, the objects.
Unfortunately this is no longer the case in CS6. Now the only visual cue is a generic black selection arrow, leaving one to hope or guess that the object is being copied rather than moved. I've posted some videos to explain my point:
    http://www.aonguscollins.com/cursor.html
I hope the Illustrator team rectifies this blemish on a stellar release.

    Bleh.  I see that too.

The most stupid is the removal of the left/right cursors. Because of this missing cursors I cannot use the Opera's own keyboard, for example, otherwise probably a good one. Moving left or right will then resemble like on iPad, where hitting the right place between two letters with the finger is pure hazard.
It just seems like people get bored and they do things just because they have to do something. The team at Nokia & Symbian that originally have thought about how things needs to be done properly are probably retired and the most that the new generation could offer came out as Belle. But the keyboard on Belle is still working properly like it was the case with the whole in the past, so they need to do something to fix this ...
