Missing DAQmx

Hi,
I am new to DAQmx. I am LabView 8.6. I am missing all DAQmx components. Like, when I created new VI,
Functions->Measurement I/O->..
There is nothing related to DAQmx...I do not have the DAQmx examples either...
C:/program files/natioal instruments/labview 8.6/vi.lib . I could not find anything related to DAQ  either.
Should I updated the driver for DAQmx? Where should I find it? How could I find whether and  which version DAQmx had been installed? Thanks.

  • New Hardware / DAQmx Install, LabView 7.1 Now Missing DAQmx VI's?

    Hello -
I've been running Labview 7.1 and some applications we've built with it for some time now.  Due to an old DAQ board failure, we had to upgrade.  Upon receiving the new (PCI-6225M) DAQ board, we had to update DAQmx (to 8.9.5) in order for this new board to be supported.
In doing so, it appears that the DAQmx VI's I had for Labview 7.1 were actually removed from the system.  When I try to load my 7.1 applications, I get errors saying that it can't find various DAQmx VI's (like the DAQmx Create Task and Read VI's).  Since it allows me to browse for them, I browse to the directory structures that *do* have them now (intended for LV 8.2+, which we don't have).  If I select these VI's they seem to be found okay, but then I get an error for each VI saying that it's only for a newer version of LabView, not v7.1.
So what gives?  What can I do?  Why on earth would a newer DAQmx installer actually go in and remove already existing files from my previous install that previously worked fine?  I am not impressed.  What should have been a simple board upgrade now appears to be setting us back some significant time.
    Thanks,
    Brett

    Hi Dennis,
I also have common issue.  I am using labview 7.1 with DAQmx version 8.8.  Recently, I just bought the cDAQ-9178, which requires me to upgrade my DAQmx to version 9.4.  After installation completed, I discovered all my DAQmx missing.  My question is:
    1. Do you have any patch to let me stay @ LV version 7.1 with the new DAQmx 9.5 without missing DAQmx vis?  I need the new DAQmx to be able to connect with cDAQ-9178.
Thanks you for your time, Dylan

  • .Exe Missing DAQmx subVIs

    Hello everyone,
I built an installer for my .exe. I included:
    1. NI LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 2012 SP1
    2. NI-DAQmx Core Runtime 9.6.2
    3. NI-DAQmx MAX Configuration Support 9.6.2
The computer I made the VI is a Windows XP machine. The computer I want to run the installer on is a freshly-installed Windows 7 machine. When I attempt to run the installer, I get the following error:
Missing subVI DAQmx Create Task.vi... missing subVI DAQmx Create Channel (TEDS-A1-Voltage-Basic).vi... Missing Timing (Sample Clock).vi... Missing Control Task.vi... Missing Clear Task.vi... Missing Stop Task.vi... Missing external function nilvaiu.*AQReadNChanNSamp1DWfm:C...
It looks like I'm missing DAQmx VI's, yet I included DAQmx in the installer.
    Thank you.

I know these sound like a no-brainer questions but, did you run set-up.exe from <Directory>volume? Can you open MAX on the target machine?  If so what software components are listed?  Did you reboot to finish installation?
My 8-Ball is screaming that this is a simple error that will involve a <face palm> moment.

I have NI DAQmx 14.5 and running LV 2014, i am trying load some old project and i get the error of missing DAQmx Write VI

Can you attach an image of the error display? Did you install DAQmx after installing LabVIEW? Do you have the DAQmx palette?

  • I seem to be missing DAQmx VIs?

I installed v 7.0, and then tried to run an example DAQmx VI from the developer zone. However, the VI can not start because a lot of DAQmx VIs seem to be missing. Doing a search on my Labview 7.0 directory, I do not find any VIs starting with DAQmx*.vi.
Furthermore, choosing Functions|input, I do not see the DAQ assistant (I think that is what it is supposed to be called?)
p.s. I am using the Prof devel system version/

    Hey!
You have to download the DAQmx from http://digital.ni.com/softlib.nsf/websearch/BEC182021CEB566C86256EEE00696562?opendocument&node=132060_US

  • Missing DAQmx folder in vi.lib

I tried installing LabVIEW 8.2.1 and its requested device driver disks on a computer without any DAQmx device, and no DAQmx folder is placed inside vi.lib.
As a result, one of my LabVIEW programs won't compile. Is there a way to trick the installer into putting the DAQmx folder into vi.lib even though there is no DAQ device there? Simply copying the DAQmx folder from another computer doesn't work.

There is no requirement to have hardware installed. I have no DAQ devices on this pc and and DAQmx installed just fine. I've done the install on many computers without any hardware. Was this a fresh install and what OS are you using? Does MAX indicate that DAQmx is installed? If it does and it's listed in the National Instruments section of Add/Remove programs, try doing a repair first and if that does not work, uninstall and do the DAQmx install again.

  • Missing DAQmx Create Task.vi among others

    Hi all,
I'm trying to run a .vi made in Labview 8.5 using Labview 2012. I have the most recent version of DAQmx (9.5) installed, but it's unable to find the file DAQmx Create Task.vi, and if I chose to ignore it about 6 other files pop up that it is also unable to find. I have uninstalled and installed DAQmx on both my computer and two other computers running Labview 2009 to try and get this to work, but nothing seems to be solving the problem. Any ideas what might be going wrong here?
    Thanks!

Are you trying to open the VIs using 8.5 or 2012?  Are the DAQmx VIs in the palette?

  • Missing DAQmx Resources

After recently upgrading my NI-MAX from version 7 to version 9.7.5 whenever I try to access any of my projects that require accesss to DAQ they are unable to find the required libraries, even after searching the install directory for any of the required LLBs or vis they do not seem to have been included in the install location. As a significant number of my projects require the use of DAQ to work proerly this is quite an issue, so if someone could help it would be much appreciated. I'm fairly certain that this is probably a minor error on my behalf or an issue with the location that the projects are being pointed to but after reinstalling and searching I have found no obvious solutions.

  • Cannot find daqmx control task.vi after upgrading computer, OS and LabVIEW

    Hello,
I have recently upgraded both my computer, OS and my LabVIEW version and I am having some issues.
    My old system was:
LabVIEW 8.6 Professional Development System running on Windows XP SP3 (Dell Desktop computer)
    My new system is:
LabVIEW 2014 SP1 Professional Development System running on Windows 8.1 Pro (MS Surface Pro computer)
I did a clean install of the LV 2014 which went smoothly. I then copied my old projects from the old machine to the new.
The simpler projects load without problem.
Some of the bigger project begin loading but hang on "Find the VI Named "DAQmx Control Task.vi" which does not seems to exist on the new computer.
There are several other DAQmx VIs that the project loader wants and do not appear to exist on the computer also.
I'm guess this could be because of the new OS, new LabView version, or because the new PC is a "tablet", or some combination of those?
    Any ideas?
    adTHANKSvance,
    Bob

    Hi bob,
when the old PC could load these VIs without complaining abut missing DAQmx functions it had DAQmx installed. Point.
Start the DeviceDriver DVD and install DAQmx.
Hint: Whenever you want to replicate your LabVIEW installation on a different computer you should check the "Software" section in MAX. It will list all needed parts/toolkits/drivers you have installed!

  • Installer missing files

I'm using Labview 8.5 and using the Application Builder to create an executable and installer. My VI uses DAQmx and lots of it.
On the first time through, I included the 8.5 Run-Time engine. When installing on the target machine (that has never seen any NI software) and rebooting, it complains of several ni*.dl's missing
listed below, then lists some 30 odd missing DAQmx subVIs.
I read in a thread that I should include the DAQmx thing. I have version 8.6.  Okay ......
Now when trying to build the installer, it's asking me for the 8.2.1 product distribution. I have the 8.2 CD but it doesn't like it.  It says it's not the right CD, and will not continue.
I can't seem to be able to manually add files to be put into the System32 folder - that would be a nice feature.
What do I need to do to fix this so that all dependent files are included in the installer? Do I need to upgrade something to make it quit asking me for the 8.2.1 CD?
LabView on the host machine started with ver 7.something, then 8.2, and now 8.5 with all versions still present on the hard drive.
Another silly thing I've seen on the target machine is that if I ignore all the above errors, I can still see my front panel. It's broken, but I can see it. The font spacing or size is way different to the point where
text descriptions are running into adjacent controls. Is this a Windows setting? I'm using WinXP Pro on both the host and target machines.
    Missing DLLs:
    nidimu     nilaiu
    nidmxfu   nimdbgu
    nimerc     nimhwcfu
    nimru2u   nimstsu
    nimxdfu   nimxpu
    niorub      nipal32
    nipalu      nipanu
    nipalut     nirpc
I'm not sure if the above list is inclusive, but should be close.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Gary

    Hi Gary,
When you installed the DAQmx 8.6 drivers, did you install LabVIEW first before you install the driver? If that's the case, you need to change the installation of DAQmx 8.6 to support LabVIEW 8.5
To build an installer for your code, you need the version of LabVIEW you wrote the code in as well as the driver you were using when you wrote the code.  However, when you upgrade, you can upgrade the version of driver and LabVIEW, in which case you can include the updated version of the driver and Run Time Engine when you try to include additional installers.
Please refer to this article as to why it's asking for the older distribution of LabVIEW.
    http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/C3666BA408F81E59862570D20056E692?OpenDocument
To upgrade your code to be using the new drivers and software, please make sure your driver's properly installed for LabVIEW 8.5. Make a back up of your current project.  Open up your project in LabVIEW 8.5 and go to Tools->Advanced->Mass Compile and mass compile your code.
You should then be able to build an exe with the newest version of DAQmx 8.6.

  • Help!!collect data at particular time intervals/cycles

    Hello,
I have to write a program to collect data at particular time intervals/cycles. We collect data at 100 points per cycle for 5000 cycles. But due to the huge volume of data I have to collect at certain intervals ( say cycles 1-10, 29-31,49-51 .... 3999-4001 .. 4999-5000). I would appreciate if anyone could please help me with this program.
    Thanks and bext regards

    Hello,
Thanks for your reply. I have just started with LABview and the program I am dealing with was written by someone else. Anwyays, we are using  a NI PCI 6259 data aquisition card and NI SCXI (these are data aquisition for each channel I guess). We collect the load and deformation data (using LVDTs), which is the primary purpose of the project. We apply a load for 0.1s and rest for 0.6s. We collect the data at 100 points per second for the whole test (which runs for either 90minutes or 5000 cycles). We just start the test and collect data all the way through and the rate of collection remains the same throughout the test.
As for finding out when exactly the cycle starts and ends. We will have to find that with time I guess. We plan to collect data for the first 100 cycles, then for 2 to 3 cycles every 50 or 100 cycles (which may increase towards the end of the test, i.e. we might jump from 3000 to 4000cycles).As for collection we collect the data 1sample at a time.
I have attached a part of the program which measures all the data (which is part of another program). Some VI's might be missing (DAQmx start task, DAQmx stop task, DAQ mx read). Please let me know if you have any solution. Thanks again.

  • "find control" highlights the entire front panel

I have inherited a mid-size state-machine and am in the process of documenting it. If I double click a control on the FP, it takes me right to the item in the BD.
Conversely, If I double click (or right click --> find control) in the BD, it takes me to the FP and the entire thing is highlighted / found.
The entire FP is built on tabs.
Many of the controls / indicators are hidden via property nodes.
The code currently will not run due to a large number of DAQ devices not hooked up.
    Thanks for any suggestions!!

    Bingo.
As for the simulated DAQ's... Whenever I start the VI on my computer, the system is searching for all of the DAQmx vi's that have been placed. All the non-express vi's for the DAQ's are gray question blocks. After I have ignored 14 or so of these "find yourself" requests, an error box tells me that is is missing "daqmx.rc"
Also, Express VI's for the DAQ's will not let me see inside them
If this should be a new topic, I'll move it...

    Hi Briana,
I believe I understand what you're asking, but which current DAQmx driver are you using with LV 2010?  Only the 9.1.5 and above drivers are compatible with LV 2010, while many of the older drivers will still work for you in LV 8.6.  Below, I've linked a compatibility chart for DAQmx drivers and Labview versions.

  • DAQMX vi files missing in Labview 2013

I try to open this file slinger-logger.vi [see attachment], but I can't open it, because it is missing files such as DAQmx Clear task.vi
I already tried to install several versions of DAQmx (14.1, 9.9, 9.4):

Why do you install random version of DAQmx, especially since 9.4 does not even support the LabVIEW 2013 or 2012 versions you mentioned. You even show the link outlining that! Pick the neswest one only!
Tell us exactly what you did:
Did you install DAQmx after installing LabVIEW and did you select support for the installed LabVIEW version?
    Did you reboot after installation?

  • Missing subVI DAQmx Create AI Channel TEDS(sub_.vi DAQmx Create Channel( TEDS-AI-Voltage-Basic). vi.

    Hi,
I have seen several discussion regarding this topic, however it seems that none of the solutions are working for me. Here is my situation, i am using LabView 7.1 which I use to generate my .EXE, when I generate my .EXE I use the Tab Intaller Settings to generate the Setup.msi. I then take the folder which contains the .EXE and the installer and bring it over to another machine which is running VM Ware with a freshly installed windows XP. (to make sure nothing is on the machine and then i get surprise at the custormer's site)
Once this was done, i would start by lauching the installer and then the .EXE the result was the following, I would get the following message:
Missing subVI DAQmx Create Task.vi in VI instance      1    3tst

This did solve some problems BUT I am still getting the following message when I launch the EXE
Missing subVI DAQmx Create AI Channel TEDS(sub).vi in VI DAQmx Create
    Channel(TEDS-AI-Voltage-Basic).vi.
    Thank you
    Maldini

    Hi Maldini,
Thank you for posting to the NI forums.  Is the VM Ware PC using the same operating system as the development PC?  Also, are you using DAQmx 7.1 on the development computer, or are you using a more recent version?  When distributing applications, the driver version on the deployment PCs must match the driver version of the development PC.
If this is already the case, then you shouldn’t be receiving any of these error messages.  There are few things that may fix this problem.
    Reinstall the DAQmx driver.
Perform a repair install the DAQmx driver on the deployment computer.
Upgrade the DAQmx driver on both the development and the deployment PCs.
With Windows XP and LabVIEW 7.1, you are able to use the latest version of DAQmx, which is currently DAQmx 8.5.
After going through these steps, please post back if you continue to have problems.
