  • PSA tables in SAP BW

    Hi experts,
I'm having trouble with creating PSA tables in SAP BW. Can somebody please explain the different ways to create PSA tables.
    Thank You Very Much
    My Regards...

    Hi..
After it is extracted from source systems, data is transferred to the entry layer the data
warehouse, the persistent staging area (PSA). In this layer, data is stored in the same form as
in the source system. The way in which data is transferred from here to the next layer</b>incorporates quality-assuring measures and the transformations and clean up required for a
uniform, integrated view of the data.
<b>When you activate the DataSource, BI generates a PSA table and a transfer program.</b>
The data in the DataSource (R3TR RSDS) is transferred to the PSA.
When you transport the restored 3.x DataSource into the target system, the DataSource
(R3TR RSDS) is deleted in the after image. The PSA and InfoPackages are retained. If a
transfer structure (R3TR ISTS) is transported with the restore process, the system tries to
transfer the PSA for this transfer structure. This is not possible if no transfer structure exists
when you restore the 3.x DataSource or if IDoc is specified as the transfer method for the 3.x
DataSource. The PSA is retained in the target system but is not assigned to a DataSource/3.x DataSource or to a transfer structure.
<b>The PSA table to which the data is written is created when the transfer structure is activated.</b>
<b>A transparent PSA table is created for every DataSource that is activated</b>.
The PSA tables each have the same structure as their respective DataSource. They are also flagged with key
fields for the request ID, the data package number, and the data record number.
InfoPackages load the data from the source into the PSA. The data from the PSA is processed with data transfer processes.
With the context menu entry Manage for a DataSource in the Data Warehousing Workbench
you can go to the PSA maintenance for data records of a request or delete request data from the PSA table of this DataSource. You can also go to the PSA maintenance from the monitor for requests of the load process.
Using partitioning, you can separate the dataset of a PSA table into several smaller, physically independent, and redundancy-free units. This separation can mean improved performance when you update data from the PSA.
In the Implementation Guide with SAP
NetWeaver &#8594; Business Intelligence &#8594; Connections to Other Systems &#8594; Maintain Control
Parameters for Data Transfer you define the number of data records needed to create a new
partition. Only data records from a complete request are stored in a partition. The specified value is a threshold value.
The number of fields is limited to a maximum of 255 when using TRFCs to transfer data. The length of the data record is limited to 1962 bytes when you use TRFCs.
    <b>PSA Table
For PSA tables, you access the database storage parameter maintenance by choosing Goto &#8594; Technical Attributes in DataSource maintenance. In dataflow 3.x, you access this setting in transfer rule maintenance in the Extras menu.
You can also assign storage parameters for a PSA table already in the system. However, this has no effect on the existing table. If the system generates a new PSA version (a new PSA table) due to changes to the DataSource, this is created in the data area for the current storage parameters.</b>
<b>Define PSA Part. size using transaction RSCUSTV6
Minimum no. of records in a PSA partition
Use program SAP_PSA_PARTITION_COMPRESS for existing PSA

  • Can anyone tell me the naming conventions for PSa tables

    hi all,
After the data is loaded into the psa. how to look at the records that are there in psa. And can anyone tell me the naming conventions for psa tables.
    like BIC/????
    thanxs in advance
    regds
    hari

    Hi Hari,
You want to know the naming convention of PSA table. For that there is a simple technique try this.
    Go to - T code SE11
In the database table check box give  /BI*  and click search
next window  in the Description Text box give the r data source name(master)  like
YIO_ID_ATTR which is assigned to infosource. then click OK.
then you get the psa table structure.
You can take structure and check in the T code SE 11
    Hope this is fine.

  • Temporary data carriers for Database tables

    hi Gurus,
How can we find temporary Data Carriers for database tables. For eg.   when we craete a BOM in CS01/CS02 the data first goes to RC29P structure and when system finishes it goes to STPO.
This is one example. how canw e find other structures and theirs corresponding Database Tables?
    Any idea?
    Regards

    Hi Greg,
Those are the aggregated tables. If they are not filled with data although the Portal Activity Report is activated, you should check whether the aggregation finished successfully.
In the older SPs there were some problems that were fixed in later SPs of 7.0.
In order to have the latest version of Portal Activity report, you can check SAP note 1084379 - Portal Activity Report - Latest Version (SDA file).
You can compare the SP via the MANIFAST file, as it contains the version and SP number.
In order to troubleshoot problems in Activity Report, you can follow SAP note: 1690023 - Portal Activity Report - Component-specific Note
Some basic checks that you can do:
Run query on the raw data tables to check since when there is data in those tables:
    select min(timestamphour) from SAP<SystemID>DB.WCR_WEBCNODESTAT;
If there is too much data from long time ago, then you should delete the old data, and leave only the new data (there is anyways retention time for the data to be kept).
If there is no data, then it means that the Portal Activity Report does not collect data, and not really activated (usually this is not the case).
The aggregation runs every top of the hour, so you can check in the default traces for an error during that time.
In most of the cases something went wrong while aggregating the data.
As a result the aggregation is not finished, so the transaction is not being committed, and the aggregated tables stay empty.
If there is a DuplicateKeyException in the trace, you can follow SAP note 1054145 - Duplicate Key Exception.
If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
    I hope this information helps,
    Thanks & regards,

  • How to add a new data element for existing table filed(Primary key field)

    Hi Experts,
How to add a new data element for existing table field(Primary key field)
For this filed ther is no foreign key relation ships and even check table.
while activating table it is giving message like below.
can you help any one to solve this and wil steps to add new dataelement for existing primary key filed of a table.
    Check table (NAMING SPACE/TABLE NAME(EX:/TC/VENDOR)) (username/19.02.10/03:29)
Primary key change not permitted for value table /TC/VENDOR
Check on table  /TC/VENDOR resulted in errors
    Thanks
    Ravi

    Hi,
Easiest way is to download the table eg into an Excel table (if possible) or text table. Drop the table from the database. Build your table with the new key field. Build the database table again and fill it.
You can do it also over the database into a new table. Drop the old one. Build the enhanced one and fill it. Afterwards drop your (temporary) table.
Maybe there are other ways, but this works.
    Success,
    Rob

  • How to import Support Package 13(SAPKW70013) for SAP NetWeaver 2004s BI

    Hi,
How to import Support Package 13 for SAP NetWeaver 2004s BI (BI Patch 13 or SAPKW70013)
Note no for that is : 1019055.
    Thanks in Adavance,
    Dushyant.

    Hi,
RTC for BI 7.0 SAP_BW SP 13 is scheduled in CW 21, that is coming week, after that you should be able to download it from service market place.
@others: Dont get confused about SPS release with SP release. BI has intermediate release which is SP release, SPS is SP-Stack release (which is NetWeaver release).
SP 12 correspond to SPS 12 which is sceduled CW 21.
    Hope this helps.

  • Data deletion in PSA tables

    Hello Folks,
I am trying to delete Older than 7 days data in my PSA tables, with Process chains I am able to delete the requests ID but actual data is not getting dropped. I can write an ABAP program but that will delete the entire content of PSA tables. I went through lot of SDN messages in this regard but I did not find a solution. Could you please throw some suggestions on this?
    Kris

    Hi,
There is a process type called "Deleting requests from PSA" and there you can set the frequency i.e. how many old data you want to retain.
And as I seen once the request is deleted, all the data belonging to that request also get deleted otherwise there is no point in just deleting request ID's.
I guess there must be some issue with your process chain. Try manually deleting PSA request if they are still available in PSA table.
    Regards,
    Durgesh.

    Experts!
M completely new to Inventory Mngt where i needto extract data from R/3,
they 've given me some tables, but i dont know how to find appropriate data
    sourses for that tables
    those are
    MKPF,MSEG
    EKKO,EKPO
    EKBE,EKET
How to find right data sourses when table names given in any module??
    pls guide me,
    'll assign the points.
    thanks
    Srujan

    Hi,
2LIS_03_BX is the initialization of your stocks; you'll need to perform the setup procedure for extracting this data.
Usually this DSource is used to bring the stocks positions at a given time; from this given time you'll then extract deltas from BF and UM so your stocks are always:
    BX + BF(Delta) + UM(delta).
    Hope this clears your doubts...
    Olivier.

  • New IBM JDK 1.4.2 for SAP NetWeaver 2004 and 2004s

In May 2006 IBM System p brand and SAP announced the direction to enhance the IBM AIX 5L JDK 1.4.2 for SAP NetWeaver 2004 and SAP NetWeaver 2004s based applications. The new IBM JDK 1.4.2 for SAP NetWeaver applications on AIX 5L is 100% upward compatible for all SAP business applications and, compared to the classical AIX JDK, provides a more consistent runtime behavior, enhances memory management, and improves debugging capabilities.
<b>General Availability (GA) of the new IBM JDK 1.4.2 for SAP NetWeaver 2004 and 2004s on AIX 5L</b>
As part of a staged release process aligned between IBM and SAP a customer pilot program was started in August 2006 followed by a Controlled Availability (CA) program. Based on positive customer feedback resulting from real production usage and the very encouraging internal test results, the new IBM JDK on AIX 5L is/will be generally available
    •     for SAP NetWeaver 2004 SP14 and above starting at 5th of February 2007
                    and
    •     for SAP NetWeaver 2004s SP06 and above starting at 30th of March 2007.
This means systems running above SAP NetWeaver releases in an AIX 5L environment are allowed to use the new IBM JDK without restrictions.
This announcement does not affect the use and support of the classical AIX JDK outside SAP environments.
<b>Transition Plan to the new IBM JDK 1.4.2 on AIX 5L</b>
SAP will support the classical and the new JDK in parallel for a limited number of NetWeaver support packages. Afterwards only the new IBM JDK will be supported:
    •     for SAP NetWeaver 2004 the first support package only supporting the new JDK will be SP21 (planned date for SP21 see http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700001130682005E),
    •     for SAP NetWeaver 2004s it will be SP14 (planned date for SP14 see http://service.sap.com/~sapidb/011000358700004584092005E).
So please plan a transition to the new JDK prior to the upgrade to these support packages.
SAP and IBM strongly believe that the switch to the new JDK will improve your experience with JAVA based SAP applications on AIX 5L. Both companies recommend upgrading to the new IBM JDK 1.4.2 for SAP applications running on AIX 5L as soon as it matches your company’s maintenance plans.

You can download the JDK directly from the sun java website...
    http://java.sun.com/products/archive/j2se/1.4.2_12/index.html
I don't think Ubuntu is supported...

  • Install License Key for SAP NetWeaver 2004s ABAP trial Edition.

    Hello.
I have two installations of the SAP NetWeaver 2004s ABAP trial Edition (on desktop and laptop). After the expiration of the original 30 days license; now I need to install the extended License (90 days). I am using SLICESE transaction from SAP* user account to install the new license.  I have got the "License Key" from SAP website. However, <b>the installation of the new License Key fails to complete successfully</b> (it fails to add the new license key) and ends with an error prompt.  This problem is happening on both systems! <b>Has anyone experienced such problem?</b> What did you do to fix it?
Note: no errors in typing in the new Key, as I used the copy and paste!
Thank you very much for your help.
    Hameed

    Rich,
Thanks again for your help. I found out that if you try to install the new license key  (first time) with any error (such as wrong expiration date), it will fail as "invalid key", naturally. However, the subsequent attempts also continues to fail despite the fact that the correction are made. the only way I could fix this was to stop and restart the SAP Application server and make sure that the first attempt has typos. <b>It seems to me that once an error flag is set, it is not removed unless the server is restarted.</b> well, the problem is fixed now and thank you for your help.

  • DBW70E  BI - Delta Enterprise Data Warehousing SAP NetWeaver 2004s

    BI Experts,
Does any one happens to have a PDF of  DBW70E - BI - Delta Enterprise Data Warehousing SAP NetWeaver 2004s.
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Just to launch the discussion
    1) We can still use the old ABAP environment to publish your Web Queries, but only the 3.x ones !
<i>   If you want to switch to BI 7 Queries (or other BI 7 Web components) then you will have to use the SAP Netweaver Portal (call it SAP Portal, SAP Enterprise Portal, SAP Netweaver Portal, BI portal... it still is EP 7.0)</i>
The SAP Netweaver Portal is the <b>runtime environment</b> for all BI 7 Web elements.
    2) Yes, you can use Visual Composer (available with the SAP Netweaver Portal....)
