Missing Devices In Shared

This problem is something that doesn't happen all the time but very annoying none the less. i have HP Media Smart Server with all my Pics, Music & Videos on it. Usually it shows up in Finder / Shared but sometimes it just doesn't appear, no matter how many restarts of my imac or server itself. i can go into itunes and it is listed there and i can play my music so it's still definately on the network, today i found away round this problem but it's not the best solution. i noticed under Recent Items a few of the folders which were on my Server so i tried clicking on them, once i did this the server became listed under SHARED so now i have access to everything again but what if i had cleared my History i'd still be pulling my hair out to get it to show up. Has anyone a solution how this can fixed easily in the future?
Many Thanks

Many Thanks for your reply, i have been into Finder Preferences, I then went into Sidebar where i found a section called SHARED, in there everything is ticked one of which is called Connected Servers. Even with everything ticked it wasn't showing up? very strange that it only showed up once clicked on via Recent Items.

i have of course more partitions and WTK, NetBeans, ME SDK 3.0 are installed on other than C: but JDK is installed on C: in program files where in path is space. It has any meaning?

Did you figure this out? I've got exactly the same problem. Same error that is getting reported. The resource missing is the AMConfig.properties file which is required for the Access Manager Policy agent. Agent doesn't work until I get the WebSphere config correct.
    Thanks in advance.

  • How to get same order of appearance of photos in Iphoto album and album shown to IOS devices after sharing?

How to get same order of appearance of photos in Iphoto album and album shown to IOS devices after sharing?

    Hello Leonie!
I use Iphoto sharing with my family on their ios devises.  And it works.
The only problem is that, now, I try to organize the photos in a meaningful way (not chronologically) before Iphoto Sharing (Icloud)
But on the ios devices the photos is arranged chronologically.
    Is there a solution?

  • How can I stop my IOS 7 device from sharing my location with IOS 8 devices?

How can I stop my IOS 7 device from sharing my location with IOS 8 devices? My friend who upgraded their device to IOS 8 said that I'm automatically sharing my location via iMessage details.  I don't want to upgrade to IOS 8 yet because I don't have space.  Is there a way to disable sharing my location with IOS 8 devices by default?  I don't want to turn all location services off because I frequently use Google Maps.

Actually that's not true. I have a device (iPhone) running ios 7. My friend has an iphone running ios 8. When she clicked into her imessage thread with me, clicks on details in the top right corner it will show her my GPS location. It's doing this automatically because I do not have ios 8 on my phone therefore I don't have the ability to "stop sharing my location". Apple is automatically sharing the location.  If you are using an ios 8, apple automatically pulls in location data for anyone you are messaging not using ios 8. I haven't found a way around this unless you turn off all location services on your phone which is immensely disturbing.

  • Multiple devices, family sharing...iCloud setup

I've so far avoided iCloud because it is very confusing to me. I've read loads of threads, and comprehending it all is still eluding me. Let me explain my setup, what I want to do, and how I'm proposing to do it.
    My Setup:
    5 family members (including myself)
    4 iPhones (2 4S, 1 4 and 1 3S) all with iOS5
    2 iPod Touches with iOS5
1 MBP running Lion with accounts for each family member.
    1 Mini running Lion
3 XP machines, each with accounts for each family member.
The Mini is our "media" computer connected to our TV. It's connected to a network drive which stores all our media, music, books and apps, including everyone's photos via iPhoto.
    My Goal:
Everyone's photos taken by iPhones/iPods on 1 Photostream accessible by the Mini for viewing/storage.
    Everyone with their own Mail/Contacts/Calendars/etc.
Shared iTunes content, again synced with iTunes on Mini
    My Thoughts:
If I am understanding what I've read, I can create an iCloud account which has to be the primary account on all the iPhones/iPods. Then go into Settings on each iOS device and turn off everything I don't want sync'd (Mail, Calendars, Contacts, etc.).
Then for each iPhone/iPod, create an individual iCloud account for each family member, turning on what they want synced on both their iOS device and in their iCloud settings in their accounts on their computers.
For iTunes content sharing, we just keep doing what we've been doing, using the shared iTunes account we already have.
    My Questions/Concerns:
It looks like this will necessitate having 6 iCloud accounts, which I guess will work since we have that many devices; but I'm curious how others could handle a setup like this if they only had 1 device per person?
After all this is set up, could I then have an additional calendar added in somehow which the family uses for adding shared events?
So, does this sound right? Am I missing something?
    Thanks!

    Hi all..
I hope you don't mind me chiming in here, but I see this as a major flaw in the move from MobileMe to iCloud.
Roderick, based on what your requirements are, this sounds like a viable solution.
Here's the spanner in the works:
Q: Can you have more than 1 iCloud account on each iOS device?
Everything I have found so far points to "No".
If you can't, and you all want to sync "common" contacts, iCal events & numbers/pages stuff, then you have to use 1 common iCloud account. But you will not be able to FaceTime or iMessage each other!
    Is my assumption here correct?
I have a MobileMe family pack with 5 me.com addresses.  I have kept the "main" one from migrating, so we currently keep all our contacts & calendars synced with that "main" account in MobileMe.
Simple solution for the time being, but what happens in June 2012 when MobileMe is retired?
    Frustrated-dot-com!!

  • Why is the import button missing on Home Sharing?

I just got a MacBook Pro and when I open Home Sharing the import button is missing on my Mac but I am able to see it on my PC. I checked and I authorized both computers and have the same accounts on both also. I have turned Home Sharing "on" and "off" on both computers and there still isn't a solution. On my PC, by the Home Sharing tab is a house with a music note but on my Mac it doesn't look like that. I also checked and when I go to Preferences>Sharing, it says my Home Sharing is on but I don't have any devices connected to it. I don't want to re-download over 1,000 songs. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You can find the Import menu entry in the Bookmarks Manager (Library)
*Bookmarks > Show All Bookmarks > Import & Backup > Import Data from Another Browser

  • Missing thumbnails in shared photostreams

On an iMac running latest Mavericks, this is the home of my photo library and this is where I create shared photostreams. When I go into those shared photostreams, most of the thumbnails are missing. Only the ones from after December 23 appear; that coincides with when I installed Yosemite and then reverted to Mavericks using a fresh Time Machine backup. I can double-click the empty box and get the image, and I can right-click and select "find in library" so it certainly knows what image is supposed to be there and actually has it.
None of the options in the repair menu (repair thumbnails, etc.) have had any effect whatsoever. The images all show on our devices so it seems the cloud part is OK; the problem appears to be just within the Mac.
I'm pretty sure I could just recreate them all but that is a PITA in several ways, both for me to figure out which ones they are and also for the subscribers to get a whole new version of the same album(s). Clearly this is broken somehow. Any idea how I can fix it?

    Try the following:
Disable Photo Stream in the System/iCloud preference pane
and Photo Sharing in iPhoto's iCloud preference pane.
Reboot and reenable both respectively. See if that will jump start Photo Sharing and Shared Photo Streams..

  • TS4097 we have multiple users in our family and multiple devices all sharing one itunes account.  i think we are all synced to one icloud account and it is a nightmare....contacts lost, text messags showing up on multiple devises etc.  how do we fix this?

We have our family sharing one itunes account.  we have 3 iphones, 2 macbook airs, 2 ipads and 1 mac.  I am not sure how we even got started on the icloud but somehow we did and everything is a mess.  The ipads are showing the text messages, the contacts are all combined, the apps that my duaghter downloads are appearing on all devices.  how do we fix this so contacts are not shared, messages are not shared and apps are not automatically synced to all devises?

You have two different issues going on.  You are getting each other's messages because you are sharing the Same Apple ID for iMessage.  This can be corrected by going to Settings>Messages>Send & Receive on add the devices and doing one of the following:
Either uncheck the email address shown under "You can be reached by iMessage at" on all of your devices; or
If you want to continue to receive iMessages at this email address on one of your devices, on all of the other ones tap the Apple ID at the top, sign out, then sign back in using a different Apple ID (so all devices will be using a different Apple ID for iMessage).  Note: you can continue to share an Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and App stores.  It does not need to be the same as the ID you are using for iMessage, FaceTime and other services.
The second issue is that you are sharing the same iCloud account on your devices.  When you do this any data you sync with the shared iCloud account such as contacts is merged and will appear on all devices connected to the account.  To fix this you both need to have separate iCloud accounts (you can continue to share the same Apple ID for purchasing from the iTunes and app stores).
First decide which device(s) will be keeping the current iCloud account.  On the one(s) that will be changing accounts, if you have any photos in photo stream that in your camera roll or backed up somewhere else that you want to keep on the device(s), save these to the camera roll by opening the photo stream album in the thumbnail view, tapping Edit, then tap all the photos you want to save, tap Share and tap Save to Camera Roll.
Once this is done, go to Settings>iCloud, scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.  (This will only delete the account from this device, not from iCloud.  The device(s) that will be keeping the account will not be effected by this.)  When prompted about what to do with the iCloud data, be sure to select Keep On [iDevice].  Next, set up a new iCloud account using a separate Apple ID (if you don't have one, tap Get a Free Apple ID at the bottom).  Then turn iCloud data syncing for contacts, etc. back to On, and when prompted about merging with iCloud, choose Merge.  This will upload the data to the new account.  Repeat this process for all the devices that you need to migrate to new accounts.
When finished, to un-merge the data in your accounts you will have to go to icloud.com on your computer and sign into each iCloud account separately and manually delete the data you don't want (such as deleting the other person's contacts from your account, and vice versa).

  • ICloud Setup: Multiple Devices, Some Shared Data, Separate Email. Help!

    Hi
My wife and I both have an iPhone 3G and pre-ordered a new 4S for each of us. We have a shared Apple ID (MobileMe account) through which we keep our calendar and address book synced with our phones, 2 Macs and iPad. That data is shared. We have no need or desire to each have separate calendars or address books.
We have also used the MobileMe account to share access to photo galleries created through iPhoto and posted to MobileMe (I know Galleries are getting the ax).
I have Gmail on my phone and keep it synced through IMAP. She has Verizon email on her phone as a convenience but it doesn't sync (i.e. if she reads a new email on her phone, it still shows up as "new" on the Mac).
We share a 2nd Apple ID for iTunes purchases. It's not tied to our MobileMe account. Through that, we are able to buy music, books and apps once, and use them on all devices.
This configuration has worked great for us but I can't figure out how to mirror that setup through iCloud. Once our new phones arrive...and assuming both Macs are running the latest Lion update, here's what I'd want to do:
    My iPhone
    - Gmail synced to Gmail Web Client and Mail App on 1 Mac (could this simply continue to happen via IMAP?)
    - iCal, Address Book, and Photo Stream shared/synced with wife, iPad and 2 Macs through iCloud. Haven't decided about Reminders.
    - iTunes purchases (music, apps, books) available to all devices
    - Separate iMessages (of course)
    Wife's iPhone
    - Verizon email synced to Mail App on iPad and Mail App on 1 Mac (not imperative that this syncs, but would be nice)
    - iCal, Address Book and Photo Stream shared/synced with me, iPad and 2 Macs through iCloud. Haven't decided about Reminders.
    - iTunes purchases (music, apps, books) available to all devices
    - Separate iMessages
I'd like to keep the .me email address too - although I don't necessarily need to migrate that account to iCloud (unless it makes the most sense to do so).
If you can offer advice on how to set things up this way…or point out anything that I'm not considering, I'd really appreciate it.
    Thanks in advance!
    Dave

My situation is almost identical. My wife and I presently sync our calendars and contacts through a MobileMe account and share apps through a .mac ID and want to keep it that way, but don't want to get each others iMessages. Assuming my account is the "master" account, I know I will convert my MobileMe address and ID to iCloud and set up my iTunes and Store account through my .mac ID. I assume that for my wife to receive her own iMessages and for me to be able to directly iMessage her, she'll have to create a new and separate Apple ID. If I do that, how do I set it up where we both share and sync the same calendar and contacts? I've read tons and tons of articles/posts/etc on this and it's confusing to me and to others.

  • Multiple devices trouble sharing & syncing apps with iCloud

We have 2 iPods, 1 iPhone, a PC laptop and a PC all on the same iCloud Apple ID.  The iPhone and the two iPods each have their own Apple ID for making purchases.  The iPhone and one of the iPods are able to share apps purchased separately after the devices are sync'd in iTunes, but one of the iPods (which was originally using a different iTunes account but is now on the same iTunes account as the other iPod and the iPhone - maybe this is part of the problem?) can't seem to get any of the apps from the other two.  In iTunes, we can select the shared apps when this iPod is connected, but when we try to sync, nothing gets added.  Thoughts on what we might be doing wrong?
Also, I thought iCloud automatically shared apps among devices.  We have to sync the devices on iTunes to share the apps...is this how it is supposed to work?
Thanks so much for any help anyone can provide!!

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
It's unclear from your post whether you fully appreciate the difference between iCloud and iTunes. iCloud has nothing to do with iTunes and each account can use a separate ID, my first thought therefore would be that you may be using a different ID for this iPod. Check you are using the same ID for iTunes on the PC and iTunes on the iPod at settings > store.
Apps don't exactly sync between devices, they sync according to your settings in iTunes. They can however automatically download to a device when purchased on another, for this to occur, you need the automatic download option checked at settings > store.

  • 2 users with Apple devices: synchronisation/sharing

    Hello,
    Current situation:
    We have 1 PC
    My wife has 1 IPhone
I have 1 iPhone and 1 iPad ( iPad purchased 2 days ago)
We use 1 Apple account and 1 iCloud account (= mine account) on all our devices.
We have both our separate  emailaddress ([email protected])
=> music is automaticly synced on all devices (perfect!)
=> The same for our contacts and reminders (perfect!)
=> 1 shared agenda, synced automaticly, in which we visualy see, by different colour, mine and my wifes appointements (perfect!)
=> purchased apps (and music) on all our devices (perfect!)
    Problem:
Working on my emails on my iPhone, it's not synced with my iPad, and viceversa.
For example, when i send an email with my iPhone, i woud like that my sended email is also on my iPad.
Other example, when i delete an email on my iPad, i would like that my iPhone is synced, and also delete that email automaticly. Now i have to delete the same email twice (on my iPhone and iPad)....
    Help:
How can i solve this problem, without loosing my current situation of syncing our music, agenda, contacts, etc. which works perfectly.
Should we have seperate Apple accounts, or seperate iCloud accounts, or is there a beter/simplier way?
    Please help me!
    Thanks in advance!!!!!!

    Hey Julian,
    PERFECT!!!!!
I first had to look up what "imap" is.
Then i checked if our emailprovider supports imap, and it does.....
So i activated imap, changed the configuration on our iOS devices and boem! It works perfect!!!
    Thank you so much!

  • How to get NAS drive as a "device" not "shared" entry in Folder??

I have several NTFS mount points available on my network. I can connect to them just fine if I "connect to server" with the smb://networkaddress/mountpoint functionality.
The problem is the device shows up in the Folder under the "Shared" area, not the "Devices" area. As a result, I can't do a "Save As" in an application and 'find" that NAS point in order to save the file. I have to save to the local drive then copy to the NAS.
So how can I connect to the NAS point so it shows up as "disk drive?"
Second question -- is there a way to automate the connection so every time I boot my MBP it connects to and mounts the drive?
    I'm on 10.5.3
    Thanks

Yes, I have write access. I think the problem may be that Apple has altered AFP (for security fixes and problems with Time Capsule) and the software on other servers has not caught up. I understand from another thread that "Command K" (Connect to server) uses IPv4, whereas connecting to sharepoints via the Sidebar, where the server shows up under Shared, uses IPv6.
Whatever the reason, as of now SMB works through either route. As for AFP, I can connect to the server via Cmd K, select the sharepoints, and they will mount to the desktop. I can open them and read and write to them. In the Sidebar however the server shows as mounted under Shared - but as "Servername", NOT "Servername AFP". (In the Sidebar "Servername AFP" appears, but not as mounted. See IPv4 /IPv6 above.) When I try to unmount them - either from the desktop or the sidebar - they won't, the Finder freezes and will not restart, and I have to shut down with the power button. If I select "Servername AFP" in the Sidebar, the window changes, as it should, to say "Connecting As". But nothing happens - it will not even display the sharepoints.
Yes, I can drag the sharepoint icon from its open window to the sidebar under Devices, but this does not solve the mounting and unmounting problems, quite apart from the fact that a sharepoint that mounts to the desktop as a volume should show up automatically in the sidebar as well if you have that option selected in the Finder preferences.

  • Missing information on shared calendar

    Hello,
I state that I have done extensive research but could not find anything relating to my problem.
My setup is: Mac Mini with Lion Server 10.7.5 connected to the Active Directory on a Windows Server 2008 R2.
I set up a shared calendar in iCal and I have enabled some users to read-only and others in read-write mode.
No problem in creating new appointments or edit existing ones, the data is updated regularly, in short the service works well.
The problem is that I can't know WHICH USER has entered or changed an appointment because his name is not shown anywhere.
As I know by synchronizing the calendar with iCloud the problem would be solved as the user's name is automatically entered, but I do not want use this method.
Have I missed some step, or this feature is not available?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
From your description, I would like to verify if you can click the "Clear Categories". What's more, please use other browser to check the result. Moreover, I recommend you create a new mailbox and grant it full access permission to this Calendar
    and check the result.

  • Reports missed in Favorites Shared Folder(in web report)

    Hi experts,
I missed shared folder reports in Favorites folder in Web report. where can i go and set those reports then end users able to see those reports and can access.
    Thanks in Advance

    Shah

    Dear shah,
you have to create roles per transaction pfcg and assign them to your End-Users, per Query Designer/ WAD or Bex Analyzer you can then publish queries/web templates/workbooks into this role.
Alternatively you can add/change/remove a object per transaction pfcg.
