Missing Drivers - Downgraded from Vista Home to Windows XP Pro SP3 - Lenovo 3000 N100 Notebook

Hey,
I have a lenovo 3000 N100 as well and recently downgraded to Windows XP Pro Service Pack 3.
However, I have a lot of hardware drivers missing (yellow question mark) -
1) Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus
2) Base System Device (listed thrice so I'm guessing there are three separate drivers needed)
3)Network Controller
4) Video Controller
5) Video Controller (VGA Compatible)
I have no audio or wireless either. Lastly, I have spoken to lenovo and they asked me to download some drivers from lenovo.com. I did and also downloaded every possible driver for XP on the lenovo site but still had no luck.
I would really appreciate any help/guidance you can offer. I have exausted all resources at this point.
My email is xxxxxxxxxxxxx so feel free to reach out to me there as well.
Thanks a ton.

  • Installing Windows 7 on my Lenovo 3000 N100

    Hello!
I have Lenovo 3000 N100 with Windows xp.
I want to install Windows 7 on my computer and I have some questions:
    1) Is it possible to install Windows 7 over my computer?
    2) I have paratition C and rescue and recovery hidden paratition. As a part of Windows 7 installation I have to format drive C.
If i format drive C my paratition will be deleted too? I mean, after Windows 7 Installation will I have the option go restore back to original factory settings (Windows xp) by getting into ThinkVantage by clicking the Lenovo Care Button during startup?
    3) Will I be able to get Windows 7 compatible drivers for my computer? (Sound, Intel graphics, wireless card and etc)
    Thanks!

Windows 7 works well on the N100 with 2 GB ram,
    and a dual core CPU.
If you do not change the size of c: partition,
Lenovo Care Button may still work. I do not know for sure,
as I never used it on my N100s.
Also make sure you have burned recovery disks,
in case the button does not work.
It is also a good idea to create a "disk image" using
a program like Acronis True Image, or similar before
installing another OS. This would be stored on a external hard drive.
There are also various free imaging programs available
on the web. This has been my preferred method.
As for drivers, I only needed to install Audio, and Card Reader
drivers. Win 7 had built-in drivers for the rest, and windows update
found some newer versions. Your results may be different,
due to the different versions of the N100 hardware.
So with some planning, Win 7 works quite well on the N100,
    with some minor quirks, IMO.

  • Downgrade From Windows Vista Home to Windows XP Pro Dutch on Satellite P200-15N

Not knowing where I really should put this .. I put it in this forum part too :)
    So :
    Hello,
I bought a new laptop with Vista Home and two Partitions... I would like to install on the Second partition "Windows XP pro" (with official key & SP2 included) !! But when I run the XP Cd I get an error that the HD is not recognized ... So I searched on the forum here to see if there's a possibility to passby it..
    So What I did :
    1) I download the "Intel Storage Drivers" from ->
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2101&OS FullName=Windows*+XP+Professional&lang=eng&strOSs= 44&submit=Go%21
    2) Than I used the Floppy Maker, to make a floppy with the needed drivers (also on the above site)
    3) I downloaded a freeware copy of "Nlite"
    4) I also downloaded extra drivers from the "Toshiba" Website itself (Lan, Storage, ...)
    5) I Made a map "Xp Pro P200-15N" and put all the drivers into it .. Including the Exe I downloaded from the above link Named "iata76_cd.exe"..
    6) I made a new bootable Win XP CD with "Nlite" & added all the drivers I've downloaded and followed the given procedure by "Nlite". It made a new bootable CD (with all drivers and .exe's and .inf's, etc...)
    7) Then I boot my laptop with the CD, but it still give an error on the sata-drives .. (that It can't be found) ..
So my question is .. What am i doing wrong and what other Drivers should I download to make it work ?? I've got an external USB-Floppy Drive.. If additional Drivers should be added ... So I hope there Is someone Ho can help it..
I install XP for business reasons .. Stuff that the Vista Home can't handle ...
Hope I got a respons soon .. Cz it's like really URGENT..
thx in advance and excuse me if there are errors in my writing (I still Am From Belgium )
    *** UPDATE ***
The above method didn't work for me .. So took my USB-Floppy drive and put the drivers on it (hit "F6" on the startup, added the drivers found on the above link, he installed it)...
Then I was able too choose a partition ...
So far everything ok ... It asked me if wanted to format or not .. I said ok ..
Then When he wanted to start copying, I got :
Insert the CD-rom or Floppy with the name
    Intel Matrix Storage Manager Driver
    In station A:
    * Press ENTER when Ready ...
And know I don't know what I have to do .. Cz hitting enter doesn't do thing :s
So what Am I doing wrong it's getting really ANNOYING and frustrating ... I did everything they said in the link, did the method with f6, but still now reaction :s .. Anyone ???
    Kindly Regards,
    Frederic

    Hi,
Knowing I went trough a lot of trouble installing my Windows XP on my P200, i'll show you how I did it :) (Cz you need the SATA drivers to have a good install)
    1) First of all you need a legal copy of your "Windows XP" OS
    2) Go to -> http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filter_results.aspx?strTypes=all&ProductID=2101&OS FullName=Windows*+XP+Professional&lang=eng&strOSs= 44&submit=Go%21 and download the drivers.
    3) Download "nlite" and run the programm
    4) Nlite will ask you to insert a working copy of "Windows XP", there after it'll ask you a folder where the new Updated XP should be installed (create one like "My P200 Win XP"..), then add only the driver that you need for you SATA drive and burn the new XP
    5) Normally after that, you'll be able choosing a partition and install Windows XP together with "Vista"..
    6) Install all the needed drivers on XP (don't worry if you can't choose your old VISTA)
    7) After you installed, if you would like a "DUAL Boot" with Vista you have to install VistaBootPRO to install a correct Bootloader
    8) After that go on VISTA and install "EASYbcd", you'll have to assign XP the correct Drive letter (you can change the name from "older version" to "windows XP".
    9) Normally you'll be able booting XP and VISTA
But now, i'm still searching how to make my sound work ..
Sorry for my bad english :p I'm dutch-speaking
Hope this little tutorial will help some people who are having the same problems as I did

  • Windows XP Pro SP2 cd-rom after downgrading from Vista

    Hi everybody.
I successfully downgraded my T61p from Vista to XP Pro SP2 using the downgrade cd-roms send by Lenovo.
Everything seems to work well. I downloaded all drivers. No problem.
But I recently installed a rather old software that I frequently used on my old A31p. This software (a Microsoft program !) has automatically modified some files from XP Pro without any autorization.
Once it was done, I was asked by the system to insert the original Windows XP Pro SP2 cd-rom to repair this modification.
Of course, the (Vista to XP) downgrade cd-rom set was not recognized by the Thinkpad as the original XP set.
    An original cd-rom which I finally don't have !
I tried with an original XP Pro SP2 cd-rom bought a few years ago for my A31p. Unsuccessful.
Where could I find the XP Pro SP2 cd-rom corresponding to the downgraded system ?
Thanks for your help and suggestions.
    Regards.

    Thinkpad A31p - T42p - T61p - TP Tablet

    James,
    thanks for your answer.
But I wrote on my first post "I tried with an original XP Pro SP2 cd-rom bought a few years ago for my A31p. Unsuccessful."
Thus, I don't see any difference between an original Microsoft Windows XP2 Pro SP2 version cd-rom and one created by burning a downloaded version of the OS. An original was not recognized, what would a copy do ?
If possible, it might be probably better to create an XP Pro SP2 cd-rom from the "Rescue and Recovery" files which were reinstalled when downgrading from Vista to XP. (I hate the word "downgrade" : while I was doing it, I had the feeling I was upgrading my Thinkpad !)
I have been using for several years (and still use) an A31p (Since 2002, 8 to 10 hours a day) and a T42p. IMHO, the T61p is the same category of "great" notebooks. Thinkpads are really the best notebooks I have ever used. I noted no significant difference between IBM and Lenovo Thinkpads.

  • Need Detailed instructions to install new hard drive & upgrade from Vista Home to Win7 Enterprise

    Hi folks,
    I have this laptop machine:
    Lenovo 3000 G530 4446-23U Laptop Computer - Intel Pentium Dual-Core T3400, 2GB DDR2, 160GB HDD, DVDRW, 15.4" WXGA, Vista Home Basic
I need to install another hard drive and I also want to upgrade to Win7 Enterprise Edition while doing the rebuild.
I am very nervous about doing this as I upgraded a W530 from Win7 basic to Win7 Enterprise and ran into all kinds of drive issues.  And I thought that would be about as straightforward as you could get, but it a far cry from that.
I do not want to have to go through that again - I still don't have everything working on it.
Can someone please tell me the precise steps to take to do this upgrade and how to ensure that I obtain ALL the drivers for EVERYTHING on the laptop and how to ensure that all those drivers are correct and exactly how to install them.
If there are other issues associated with upgrading from Vista Home to Win7 Enterprise, please advise of those and the solutions.
    Thanks very much.....
    Gus

    hi gmercanti,
    Welcome to the Lenovo Community.
The easiest way to upgrade Vista to Windows 7 is to run the Windows 7 Installer inside WIndows. Follow this guide for instructions. After upgrading, you will need to install the Windows 7 Drivers for Lenovo G530 4446 via http://support.lenovo.com.

Let me know if you get any errors.

There is different versions of these drivers.Does anyone know anyone which one it is?
    Thanks in advance :)

Realtek do not have the sound card drivers are you sure it is a Realtek card?

  • Help on small issues after WinXP downgrade from Vista

    Lenovo 3000 v200
I recently downgraded from Vista to WinXP Professional, and I must say I'm much happier with XP.
Some issues on the install: although I downloaded all drivers from the Lenovo site, the install didn't work from my usb floppy drive.
It recognized the floppy on the F6 portion of the install, but then later it kept asking for the disk to be inserted (it was already in the drive).  Workaround was to install by changing to "compatibility mode" in the BIOS, and after install, loading all drivers and changing BIOS back to SATA.
All features of the laptop appear to work perfectly; camera, fingerprint reader, wifi, etc.
HOWEVER: in the device manager, there are 3 yellow exclamation points in the "Other Devices" section, and each of them is labeled "Base System Device."   Does anyone know what these are?  Why are they not recognized as specific devices?  LenovoCare doesn't recognize them either, and I have no idea what drivers to attempt to install for mystery devices.
Also, "Modem Device on High Definition Audio Bus" won't install.  I have the current driver, and I've tried updating from LenovoCare, but no luck.  As I don't use a modem, this seems irrelevant, but I'd like to install it just the same if possible.
Finally, the LenovoCare recognized a need to install a "Hotkey" update, and it claims to successfully install, but everytime I run LenovoCare it says I need it again.  Any comments or observations?
Again, the computer works just fine even with these small issues.  In fact, it is better than fine; it is a joy to use and a real speed demon with XP instead of Vista.  So I'm not trying to do any rocket science or potentially screw up a very nice situation, but I am trying to iron out these small nuisances.
Thanks to all of you who consider my trivial problems.  I really appreciate having knowledgable individuals like yourselves help out a very modestly skilled, but reasonably ambitious user.
    Cheers,
    Fred

    Hello Fred,
I created a blog on this forum called.... "I Explain How To Downgrade From Vista To XP Successfully On A 3000 N100 Laptop" Locate this message and read through it. Try the "Auto Detect This System" I Talk about. It will load the latest drivers and the latest...BIOS..... for your particular model if you have not already upgraded it. You did not mention if you had upgraded your BIOS...... if your running an  "OLD" version.... THIS..... could be your problem.

  • Upgrading from Vista Home Premium to 7 Ultimate

I'm upgrading my PC from Vista Home Premium Edition to Window 7 Ultimate Edition, but I have to do a custom (clean) install. Will Photoshop CS4 still work? If so, what's the best way to do this without killing Photoshop? will it allow me to reinstall onto a different OS? I had the same issue when I changed from an XP maching to a Vista Machine - Photoshop wouldn't work at all.

As far as I know you will have to de-activate and uninstall Photoshop before upgrading the OS and then reinstall and re-activate under Win7.
Even if it weren't necessary I'd advise it anyway.
Don't forget to save out any actions, brushes and any other personal extras!

  • Going from Vista 64 to Window 8.  need serious instructions on how to proceed.

Computer is braking down so I`m thinking of going from Vista 64 to Windows 8 and I have no idea on how to proceed.
      Can`t afford an Apple.

Of course you can start over. New computer, new software, new beginning. But if you do that then you will have to start all over importing your images and making the adjustments that you have already done once. You said you have been creating catalogs (plural). If you have just one catalog, and have all your images inside of one main folder (you can have as many subfolders as you want) then switching to a new computer is simple. Put the catalog on the new computer, make sure your external hard drive has the same letter designation, install Lightroom, enter the serial number, and you should be good to go. It worked that way for me. But if you insist on starting over, just install Lightroom, enter your serial number, and go to work.

  • Re: Upgrade from Vista 32bit to Windows 7

    Dear Sirs
I need your support that how will I upgrade to 32bit Windows 7 from Vista.
    Regards.

I must confess from the get-go that my knowledge of the finer points of computers in general is limited, but I've heard that 64-bit is the way to go. I bought my system from Dell about 12 months ago. Since I didn't build it, I can't tell you what mother board I've got (Dell refuses to easily divulge that bit of info and it's kind of a huge problem), but I do know:
    Intel Q6600 @ 2.4 GhZ
    4 GB DDR2 800
    Radeon HD 3870 512 MB
    W/ Vista Ultimate 32-bit
So, my question is can I buy an upgrade kit to go from Vista 32 to Windows 7 64 or will I need to straight buy Windows 7 64 bit and install it? Will I need to update the BIOS? Is casual gaming, photo and video editing and HD video viewing even worth 64-bit? Again, since I don't know what mobo I have, all this may be for nothing because the board may not do 64-bit..

  • Migrating application from Windows 2000 to Windows XP Pro SP3

I just got a new computer with Windows XP Pro SP3 installed and need an application that was installed on my old, really old, computer running Windows 2000. The application was developed by a third party in 1997 and uses Oracle as the database engine. It uses Developer 2000 for the interface. Our IT person, who is lightyears ahead of anyone I've ever known when it comes to hardware and software, could not get the application to run on my new computer. We get error FRM-40039 when we try to open the application. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I use this application intermittantly all day and right now the "solution" is for me to go to my old computer to use it. This would be like an editor trying to use a dictionary located in another room from which it could not be removed (and could not consult the internet).

FRM-40039 is a Forms error, and Forms doesnt use ODBC. You'll probably get better help posting in the forum appropriate for that product. Unfortunately I'm not sure exactly what the forum is :(

  • FingerPrint Sensor/Software not working right with Windows XP Pro SP3

    Hi All,
I have a 3 month old Satellite Pro S300-S2504 (2.4 GHz CPU, 3 GB RAM, Bluetooth, firewire - was a custom build with most of the options I could get). The O/S installed was/is Vista Business. It came with a dowgrade XP Pro SP3 disc as well.
I bought a second hard drive - swapped it with the original and installed Windows XP Pro on it - having grown tired of Vista. I don't intend to keep both O/S's - but I didn't want to mess with what I had until I got XP working - and that's the reason I got the second hard drive for XP. Anyway, XP Pro is installed and working except the fingerprint sensor. As soon as I booted for the first time - with nothing but the factory everything installed, it prompted me to register fingers for the sensor. I tried but I got a database not found error followed by a sensor not working error. I got the latest updates for the fingerprint sensor, removed what I had - rebooted and installed the newer program - I got the same error. I then uninstalled the program again, went through the registry and removed all entries whose key had TrueSuite in it, rebooted and installed the latest version again - rebooted - and got the same errors. Looking in Device Manager, the sensor is working fine but once I try to register a finger and it fails, I then look in Device Manager and the sensor has a yellow error indicator. I used System Restore to go back to the original configuration and then tried the Fingerprint drivers/patches for Vista and for Windows 7. All of them installed but I got the same database not found error followed by the fingerprint sensor not working error.
I did end the program, then using Task Manager, I ran the Fingerprint utility as administrator - still got the same errors. I've completely reinstalled from the Windows XP restore CD four times trying to solve this and I can't get the fingerprint reader to register fingerprints - I always get that error.
I have a lot of graphic editing (movies) software as well as file conversion programs and a very stable version of Roxio Easy Media Creator that all works fine in Windows XP - but it all has problems running in Vista and I'm tired of the bugs that Vista seems have - and I want to use Windows XP Pro. I will try any suggestions.  The fingerprint sensor and software works reliably in Vista. I even updated it and that went fine. I suspect there's a problem with the XP version of the software for my computer. I did notice that Toshiba doesn't sell the this model series with XP downgrade as an option anymore. I wonder if this is one of the reasons.
Anyway - I would very much appreciate help with this. Any ideas at all are welcome.
    Thanks,
    Dennis

..a clean Win XP Pro install and it still doesnt work. There is a Win Xp key on the bottom of the laptop, but I cant seem to use it.
The Product Key that comes with the computer is useless to activate a retail installation. You would need to purchase a new one or convice Microsoft that an old one is no longer in use.
In the device manager it shows
    Ethernet Controller
    Multimedia Audio Controller
    Network Controller
Unknown Device needing Drivers. I have searched and downloaded drivers and installed them but it still doest work.
    Get the drivers from here.
Install the chipset utility first, followed by the display driver. Be sure to install the common modules prior to any Toshiba utilities, including power management.

Connected a network cable to the laptop and fill out the wizard connection information.
Still will not connect.   Restarted with network cable attached no connection.

After yet an additional restart "Connection Status: unknown The dependency services or failed to start."

Called into the Lenovo help desk for software, Rommel did diagnostic with me and it seem to be a virus.  I have no services files running and no internet connection.
With no internet connection it's hard to get a service from Lenovo.
They are will to sell me a one time service for 89.00 and if it's considered major it would go to 129.00.
A one year service agreement would be 179.00 for 3 major and unlimited minor and they would on either of these send me a boot disk.
They did a great Diagnostic work I'm just not sold they can fix my problem.
On the command line   ping 127.0.0.1 gets me Unable to initialize windows Socket, error code 10107.

I've tried reinstalling drivers from RealTek, to no avail. I've downloaded RealTek's latest drivers (number 217) and they appear to install, but nothing works.
My Device Manager does not show any sort of Audio card whatsoever. Have I got some sort of hardware problem? (Audio works without trouble in OS X.) Why can't Windows find my Audio Card at all?

I also have the same problem. I installed the Bootcamp update for XP and then my audio does not work with XP anymore. It does work with Leopard still without a problem. I noticed that when I am in windows, and I turn the audio off of mute, there is a red light that illuminates from the Audio Jack. The Audio driver does show up on my control panel, but nothing is working. Is this a way to make us stop using windows?
