Missing effects in photoshop 7

I am unable to find Reduce Noise option in Filters tab. Please help me out this problem.

Photoshop 7 doesn't have that filter.
I believe photoshop cs2 was the first version with that.
Unless your talking about photoshop elements 7?
Then it would be Filter>Noise>Reduce Noise
There are third party plugins that we might suggest if we knew which operating system your using.

Missing Effects

I'm a self-taught (not learnt much yet) newbie...
I've drawn a logo in Illustrator comprising a couple of basic shapes made of joined paths with stroke and fill the smae colour, i then took this object into photoshop and applied layer styles of Inner Shadow, Bevel & Emboss, Gradient Overlay and Pattern Overlay. Someone i met in passing who happens to teach Illustrator told me i can keep my logo in Illustrator and apply the same effects. I was using CS3 and when i went to work on the first effect, Inner Shadow, i wnet to menu Effect>Stylize and the only option I had was Glowing Edges, i was told that I'd need CS4 or CS5 for this so borrowed a laptop with CS5 on it and the same was the case, under Effect>Stylize i only have Glowing Edges as an option, my first thought is that I'm missing out something basic, such as incorrectly selecting my object or not adding a new layer to apply the efffect to but if that was a case surely under the menu's the other options would be there but just greyed out and unusable?
How come my Illustrator only has glowing edges as a stylize option?
Am i just missign something fundamentally basic?
Are the layer effects of Inner Shadow, Bevele and Emboss, Gradient Overlay and Pattern Overlay form photoshop as easy to emulate in Illustrator as someone who knows the tool well enough to teach it made out?
I can finish this design off in photoshop, but as my object is circular as soon as i apply effect the outer edge gets fuzzy from pixelation, if i can do the entire thing in Illustrator then at least i'd be protecting the quality and it'd be scaleable, also everything i seem to read says that for logo design as much as you can do this in photoshop it's a bad working practice to get into so i'd rather teach myslef the right way

maybe your right, i should just work on the PS version and get it as sharp as i can in there and then maybe go back to basics in Illustrator and actually learn the tool before6 trying to output a project in it.......

I do fine until I "Add the Layer Mask". When I go to Lens Blur afterward, the image is the same and it blurs the entire image. I followed this video exactly as it said. Anyone else having this problem?

Working with after effects in photoshop?

I want to edit some contents of the after effects of videos like clearning up skin or removing objects in photoshop from after effects - how would this get done? both ar cs5 and both ar 64bit

If you want to work on the frames of a movie in Photoshop, you have a few options. One is to render and export a composition from After Effects as an image sequence, and work on the frames as individual images in Photoshop. Another approach is tor ender and export the composition as a QuickTime movie and then import tha into Photoshop; this requires Photoshop Extended.
These options are covered in a bit more detail in "Working with After Effects and Photoshop".

Screen effect in Photoshop.

Hi, everyone.
I am trying to create a screen effect with Photoshop but can't seem to find the right way to do it. The screen I wish to create will be used to cover photos and give the illusion they are seen through screen door or something similar. I assume the effect is created with black dots equally spaced on a transparent background and saved as a PNG image. I can't figure out how to do it and how to make this dot pattern repetitive to fill the hole are of my image (or transparent background).

Thanks to your help I have finally figured out how to do this.
I captured a screen shot of the effect I was trying to duplicate at the address I provided:

After that I opened that screen capture and enlarged it in Photoshop until I could see the individual pixels. The pattern used for that screen is a 3 by 3 pixels square with only the upper left most pixel black while all others are transparent. So I created a pattern just like that: transparent background, 3 pixels by 3 pixels square and painted the upper left one black. After that I saved it as a pattern,
Now when I apply that pattern as an overlay to my images it gives me precisely the same effect on the link. Great ! It gives the images the same effect.

Missing effects in cs5. Error message when I add presets.

So I'm new to AE, and need some help. When I add the "rotate over time" animation preset to a title, it says "this favorite contains 1 reference to a missing effect. Please install the following effect to restore this reference". Does anyone know how I can get this worked out? Everything is there in my effects and presets, except this error message keeps showing up when I add it. When I look in my presets folder, the transform is clearly there. Any help? Something I'm missing/overlooking?
Specs: 2010 17 in mbp, 2.53 ghz i5, 8 gb ram, 500 gb. AE cs5 10.2

Basically the documentation of this custom preset should have contained some code thant you need to insert into "PresetEffects.xml" and is just for naming purposes. So as long as you can live with the "missing effect" name you have nothing to worry about.

Dual-core or Quad-core for Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop CS4?

We are planning to purchase around 25 computers for a computer lab for working with CS4 Production Premium at the high school level. Mainly Premiere Pro, After Effects, and Photoshop. Our budget is, unfortunately, a mere $550-$625 per machine (just the tower though, we have monitors). I've already established that a 64-bit operating system makes a significant difference in the performance, even though Photoshop is the only 64-bit application, and I'm now hung up on whether or not it's worth the cost of a quad-core processor over a dual-core.
I'm discovering the different hardware needs for each application, so I'm trying to find an economic balance that will give me the best performance per buck. It seems that Premiere benefits significantly from more cores (we're editing 1440x1080 AVCHD), and this article over at Tom's Hardware has convinced me that I don't want to compromise with a hyperthreaded dual-core for After Effects.
I'm also struggling with what part the graphics card plays in the mix. Which applications lean on the graphics card, and will it make much difference as long as I meet the requirements (OpenGL 2.0, Shader Model 3.0, Direct3D 10, and 256 Mb Ram)?
I understand I will need to settle for less-than-awesome with my budget, but I'm already making sacrifices to get the number to $625. I would like to make sure that those sacrifices will be worth it for a quad-core system.

I think that the jump to the quad core in Premiere Pro is worth it, even if I don't see as large of an improvement in Photoshop or After Effects. I am still interested in the role of the graphics card in the mix if anyone can shed some light on that. Will an integrated graphics card (like an Intel GMA x4500 or Radeon HD4200) suffice or will I need an actual graphics card to realize the benefits?

All Tracks Forward/Backward & Missing Effects

1. Please tell me that fcpx has the equivalent to fcp7's All Tracks Forward and Backward in the tool palette. If so, where is it?
2. In fcp 10.0.8 it says i have 472 Missing Effects. When putting cursor over the Missing Effects Title a box comes up for about 5 seconds that reveals all the missing effects, but there seems nowhere to get that list as when you click on Missing Effects nothing happens. Is there someplace we can get a list of our Missing Effects in fcpx?

Hi Luis, Yes I understand all of that, but to get the names of those effects which can be seen for 5 seconds when putting the cursor over Missing Effects there must be someplace i can click to see a list of the effects. without the list i can't find the programs that i need to get so that those effects will be on my mac. the editor believes it's unreasonable to ask him for a list of missing effects and won't send them. thanks!

GIMP, Krita, PDPaint, Flamepainter and otehr freeware programs have all sorts of vector blur/ smear/ flame filters that could emulate this in one way or another...

Missing effect problem!

I have downloaded a project from a friend and in this project he uses the plug-in effect Trapcode Particular. I knew this before i downloaded his project so i intalled the effect on my machine too. But now when i open his project i always get the error message "This project contains 5 references to missing effects. Please install the following effects to restore these references. ("Particular")" and i have no idea why??
I've tried to reinstall several times, both after effects and trapcode particular but nothing seems to work, always the same error message. I've installed the effect in my programs folder, in the adobe folder, in the after effects folder, in the after effects/support files/plug-ins/effects folder but still nothing! I've also read somewhere that if you get these type of error messages the effect will work anyway but it doesnt! And in the "effects and presets" panel the effect shows up under the missing tab??
Another wierd thing is that if i go to my timeline and then click on "rain" wich is the layer particular is used on, i can still use and configure all the settings for the effect in the effect control but nothing happends on the screen. And istead of just saying "Particular" in the effect control it says "Missing: Particular" even if i can still tweek the settings!?
I really need help with this,isthis a bug or glitch or what, anyone else ever had this problem or similar, please help!

Yes, this is as designed and ws introduced in AE 7 or CS3 (can't remember exactly...). the rest is unclear, since you didn't say anything about which version of AE nor your operating system. On a guess I would say you run CS5, but do not use the correct 64bit versions of the plug-ins, so naturally, nothing shows up because it cannot support 32bit plug-ins. Other than that it could be anything from permission issues to some system DLL used by the plug-ins missing...

So, you're totally new to computers?
Go to the Help menu in Photoshop and select the System Info menu item. Copy all that information and paste all of it here MINUS your serial number.
Yes, Photoshop can delegate a lot of the computing tasks to the GPU on your graphics card. You may have to disable that feature in Photoshop Preferences > Performance.
