Missing end of some songs

Haven't proved where the fault is yet but some of my songs that I transfered from CD to Itunes and then onto my Ipod have the end of the songs cut short.
Has anybody else experienced this and what can be done about it?

I think it's solved; I had to reload all the songs on to the iPod and I have not experienced truncating of songs since then. Fingers crossed...

hi ive downloaded an album from itunes and it appears to be missing the end
of some songs. can anyone tell me how to redownload it again

Depending upon what country that you are in (music can't be re-downloaded in all countries) then try deleting the incomplete tracks from your iTunes library and redownload them via the Purchased link under Quick Links on the right-hand side of the iTunes store home page on your computer's iTunes : re-downloading.
If you aren't in a country where you can re-download music or if they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account (Store > View My Apple ID on iTunes 11) and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those songs and use the 'Report a Problem' link and fill in details about the problem (iTunes support should reply within, I think, about 24 hours).
Some people have had a problem with the 'report a problem' link (it's been taking people to this site on a browser instead of showing a form in iTunes) - if it does that to you then try contacting iTunes support via this page : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/- click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page.

  • Skips end of some songs?

I recently bought a 5th gen 30GB iPOD video and I'm having an issue where it will skip the end of some songs about 3/4 the way through them. If I go back and play that song again, this does not happen. It seems to be random but honestly I haven't listened to it long enough to notice a pattern. It should be noted that I have shuffle on, crossfade off, and all of my music is in MP3 format of various bitrates.
Any have this problem or hear of it before? I searched but could not find any other complaints. I hate to take it back or in for repairs as it was a gift. Thanks in advance.

My own experiences with this issue on my 5th generation iPod below. It seems to be a software issue and not a specific problem with your particular iPod.

  • My itunes is cutting off at the end of some of my songs?

My itues is cutting off at the end of some songs?  It did not do this before...Also, it will play in my dock or receiver but not in any cars?

    Hi David,
Thanks for the response. I did look at the song that got cut off and it's a .m4a file. However, I also have normal audio that comes from an external Zoom recorder in .wav format that is getting cut off in the same way. The strange thing is I've never had a problem with this before a couple weeks ago. I've used this same song before and my external audio is always in .wav format

  • Some songs end half way through

I have an 80 GB iPod. I bought it new and originally formatted it for Windows and connected it to iTunes in Windows. I later bought a Mac, reformatted the iPod for Mac and had iTunes copy all my song files to it again. Most of my music collection are MP3 files that I personally ripped from CDs, using a few different programs and encoders.
The problem I am going to describe has occurred on the iPod under both formats, and over multiple iTunes updates.
There are some songs on my iPod that it will not play to the end. What happens is that about half way through the song, the song stops, and the screen indicates the song is paused with two (2) seconds remaining. It ALWAYS says two seconds remaining, regardless of how much time was actually left in the song. I can use the next song button to get to the next song, although it takes a few seconds longer than normal for the iPod to start playing again.
There are only a handful of songs I've identified so far that this happens with. For any song that this happens with, it ALWAYS happens; in other words, it's not that the song sometimes plays through and sometimes doesn't; if it happens at all, it always happens.
The particular songs that I've identified so far play fine in iTunes on the Mac. Back when I used Windows, I noted that the problem songs from the iPod would play fine in Windows iTunes or in other Windows media players.
So far, I have only thought of two solutions to this problem. The first was to uncheck the song and sync the iPod so as to remove the song from the iPod, then recheck it and sync again, so as to recopy the song to the iPod. This did not help. I even tried unchecking, syncing, checking some other songs and syncing, then rechecking the problem song and syncing again, so as to ensure that the song file got copied to a different physical area on the iPod's hard drive, but to no avail; the song still would not finish.
My second solution was to re-rip the song from the CD, replace the file in the iTunes library, and resync the song to the iPod. This worked. So of course it seems that I should just do this, but it's inconvenient for several reasons. One is that I have a lot of my CDs stored away, or no longer have access to many CDs I've ripped from because they belonged to friends or family members. Also, this is really just brute-forcing the problem; it isn't really fixing anything.
Has anyone ever had a similar problem, and if so, did you come up with any other fixes or do you have any other suggestions?

Yes, in theory re-converting would lessen the quality further. However, I have heard people claim (unsubstantiated) that if you are encoding with the same encoder at the same bit rate, then since it will use the same algorthymn, it won't really change the file. I have absolutely no idea if that is true or not.
But... I figure some slight loss in quality re-encoding is still better quality than a song that only plays half way and then stops, right? I suppose you could always tag those files in the comment section with something like "Re-Encoded" and then later if you gain access to your old CDs, you can then make a Smart Playlist to gather those songs and then re-rip them again from your CDs.
    Cheers,
    Patrick

  • HT203167 I synced my ipod touch and for whatever reason I have now opened an itunes library with some songs missing. Theses songs still remain on my touch but the ipos will not sync them back on to my library!Any ideas?

I synced my ipod touch  and the library opened up with some songs missing. These songs remain on my ipod, I thought that by syncing they would return to my itunes library. But they won't. Has anyone seen this before?

You should be able to copy iTunes purchases back to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. For music purchased from other sites or copied from your own CDs then are they not already on your computer and/or on a backup ? If not then you will need to find a third-party program that can copy them off the iPod.

  • No artwork on iPhone when using iTunes match, some songs gone missing

Just started using iTunes Match, almost all of my artwork is missing, and randomly at that, it worked beore I started using iTunes Match, it also doesn't download when I play the songs. Some songs went missing "in the cloud" and are unable todownload although I can see them on my iPhone 4s and were uploaded from my PC without any errors. iTunes Match a waste of money? I paid for this because I thought all the artwork and songs were suppose to get uploaded to cloud then downloaded to selected devices :/

On the iPhone go to Settings > iTunes & App Stores and make sure "use cellular data" is set to ON.

  • Can't Play Some Songs in Sildeshow Software

I have a question about the accessibility of some of the music I have purchased from iTunes. I recently purchased a photo slide show building program that allows the creation of shows accompanied by music. The issue I’m having is that only some of my music files are recognized by the program. When I open up folders containing the music files, some are not showing up in the software’s music application. The missing files are visible in windows explorer and play normally in iTunes. They are for some reason not recognized by the software. My understanding is that all iTunes music files are the same format so I don’t see why some songs are useable and some are not. One thing I noticed is the songs that aren’t showing up say (protected) after the file type. I’m not sure what this means, but maybe it has something to do with the problem. Any ideas as to why this may be happening would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

If you move, edit, delete or otherwise change a music file listed in the iTunes Library with a program or tool other than iTunes, you may end up with a "!" in front of the song name or a message like “the original file could not be found. Would you like to locate it?" It is important to note that iTunes does not keep track of music file changes made outside of iTunes.

    EASIER:
Download this to your Desktop: http://ottodestruct.com/itunes/FindDeadTracks.txt (right-click, save-link-as)
    and this, as well: http://ottodestruct.com/itunes/RemoveDeadTracks.txt (right-click, save-link-as)
    Rename each to FindDeadTracks.js & RemoveDeadTracks.js respectively.
    Run iTunes.
    1) While iTunes is running, double click FindDeadTracks.js to run the script.
It will give you a list of all the exclamation marked tracks.
    2) While iTunes is running, double click RemoveDeadTracks.js to run the script.
It will remove all the exclamation marked tracks.
One step, no fuss, no muss.
Then, give Otto42 a big 'Thanks' for this one.

  • Import Library missing 2/3 of songs

    Hi all,
I've been experimenting with some changes on my network and have all my iTunes music files on a share on the SAN. I just tried to have the Mac connect to the SAN using AFP (Appletalk) instead of SMB (Samba/Windows Sharing) and of course this means pathing is changed (slightly) so I exported my library.
I found out what the differences in the pathing would be (the SAN offers the same shares using Windows and Appletalk so the files are on the same paths on the share itself) and made a new libary xml file with the changes. 6419 songs are on the SAN that are in iTunes and texedit made 6419 changes so I am think it changed all the songs as it should have.
I mount the share using AFP and start iTunes. I import the xml file and end up with about 2300 songs and a message indicating some songs could not be found.
Anyone have an experience making this work? I've reverted my library back to using the SMB share for now but I'd like to end up using it via the AFP share since it seems much faster. Is there a way to find out what songs iTunes failed to import so that I can see if I can find out why it couldn't find the songs?
    Thanks
    Scott

Just a follow up note for those that are interested. I did a little more digging and discovered that the files that are not being imported in iTunes are in fact missing. It seems there is a limitation of some sort preventing the Appleshare from seeing all the files I have. I suspect it's filename length (the manual for my SAN says AppleShare support is limited to 32 characters) but I still need to somehow have iTunes tell me at least one file it could not find so that I can confirm the problem.

  • Some songs don't show up on iPod, but they are there

I have an 80GB iPod classic. I have all my songs in iTunes, and I have manually synced them to my iPod. When I view my iPod through iTunes, I can see all the songs and play them. However, when I look on my iPod directly, some songs don't show up when I browse by Artist, Song, etc.
The only way to play them on my iPod is to add them to a Playlist, and then they are accessible. However, if I want to listen to Eminem, for instance, I want to just browse to it in the Artist area.
The songs do have all of the appropriate info, and I have tried Restore and still nothing. These songs used to show up on my old, original iPod, so I am for a complete loss. Please help!

This isn't foolproof but there are usually two things that contribute to songs not appearing under Artist on the iPod, both due to information either in or missing from the Get Info>Info tab against the song in iTunes. 1) the song has no album name associated with it or 2) the song is marked as part of a compilation.
If tracks are missing an Album name (as mentioned above) in the Info tab, this information needs to be filled in. The no album one is a bit quirky as the songs will appear under certain circumstances but the simplest remedy is just add None or Miscellaneous in place of a title. See this link for more detail: I don't see some of my songs when browsing by artist on my iPod
Also if the tracks are ticked in the Get Info>Info tab as part of a compilation, they will not appear under Artist on the iPod. Highlight a song in iTunes that you know is not appearing correctly on your iPod. Right click on it and choose Get Info and click the Info tab (alternatively choose Get Info from the File menu), if "Part of a Compilation" is marked untick it and afterwards update your iPod, you should find it now appears as normal. Compilations are stored in a separate folder in iTunes so the songs don't appear inside the normal Artist>Album folder which may be why this happens.

  • Some songs I put on a playlist in iTunes will not show up on my phone.

This is taking place after the iOS7 update, if that may help.
I created a playlist with about 80 songs on iTunes. When I put the playlist on my phone, there are around 10 songs missing. I take the playlist off my phone, put the songs I'm missing in the playlist again to make sure they're on the playlist, which they are. After I think things are all kosher, I put the playlist on my phone and some songs are still missing. What should I do?

    Hello alk1022
I would change how you sync by enabling manually Manage music and videos. You can always change it back to see if the change works.

How old was this backup? It sounds like it was at least several weeks old.
You can look directly in the TM backup for the music.
    1. Connect to the external HDD the backup is kept on.
    2. Open a Finder window and select the backup drive in the left hand panel. Double click into the folders until you see a list of folders with dates.
These are the incremental backups. You can start at the top or the bottom of the list but I suggest you double Latest/<HDD Name>/Users/<Account Name>/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music. From this location you can start looking for the "missing" music. When/if you find it you can simply drag-n-drop to ~/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music on the internal HDD.
If the music is actually not in the backups (for whatever reason) then you've got a problem.
You can download the uploaded files from the cloud by deleting the affected tracks from the iTunes library (but not the cloud!), highlighting multiple tracks at once, right-clicking and choosing "download."
