Missing exchange events - until I change them
iPhone/exchange sync via activesync works, only problem is not all of the events are showing up. If I make a change to the event in exchange (move it down half an hour, then move it back) it will then show up on the iPhone. Almost like it needs a nudge. I have a couple of iPhones on my desk waiting to go to excited executives, but I can't release them into the wild until I get some answers. Anyone have a clue on this one? Seems to be happening with Contacts as well.
Where you able to find a resolution to this? I recently noticed this same problem.

Possible bug - Missing click event when handling change event
Using Flex 4.5 SDK, I have a spark ComboBox and a Button next to it for applying a filter according to ComboBox selection.
I listen to both the ComboBox's change event & the Button's click event (for different functions).
When I manually delete the ComboBox text value from its TextInput (i.e. changing selected index to -1) and immediately click on the Button,
the click event-handler function is not being called and only the ComboBox's change event-handler function is executed.
(Selecting a value from the ComboBox's list and clicking on the button triggers both methods on the right order.)
There's also a state definition for the module, but it isn't being changed during these operations...
Is this a bug or a correct behavior? Am I missing something here?
Any workaround suggestions?
(I thought of listening also to mouse-down or mouse-up on the button instead, but haven't tried it yet...)

When using the Button's mouseDown event the behavior is as expected, so there's a simple workaround.
However, it seems to me like there's a bug with the Button's click event listener or something...

I created a test application for that and couldn't reproduce the problem.
Then I figured out the problem and solved it.
It's a bit emmbarrasing, but I actually disabled the button (enabled=false) as in a child method of the change handling code...
(If there is no value, don't allow applying the filter - It makes sense! )
Anyway... No issue after all.
However, I choose to leave this post (and not delete it) as an example of identifying and resolving a strange behavior in a complex application.There's no need.

I put an event on my calendar and within five minutes it gets deleted. I never delete any events. I already went and synced to all events and it still does it. I want it to stop. Can someone please help me?
go to settings>mail contacts and calenders> check and see if your calender is on under your email.. if so it is probably syncing to your emails calender and not the calender app on your phone..

Calendar events keep changing back after I change them
On my iMac 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5, 8 GB 1600 MHz, Yosemite loaded, calendar 8.0 events will not change. I can add events but not change them. I've tried refresh. I've followed all the troubleshooting re: to iCloud.
Apple's Mail application can use either IMAP or POP. In fact Gmail can be set either way.

[SOLVED] Cinnamon text unreadable after changing themes
Hello!
I recently installed Arch on my laptop, and decided to try Cinnamon as my DE. Everything worked wonderfully for a while, until I changed themes and then changed the panel layout to flipped (panel at the top). Suddenly all text became rectangles, and stayed that way after I changed it back to panel at the bottom. I uninstalled and reinstalled cinnamon, to no avail. This only happens when I'm using a theme other than the default. Here's an example:

I have no idea what's causing this, or how to fix it. I've deleted everything I can find related to cinnamon and reinstalled, and it still does this.
Last edited by Ekkoria (2014-06-06 15:51:08)I've figured out that if I use a theme designed for the panel-on-top layout, everything works great with the panel still on the bottom, but if I use one designed for the panel-on-bottom layout, it doesn't work properly. It would seem in my case that cinnamon is getting "stuck" thinking that the layout is panel on top when it's really not.
EDIT: This issue seems to have resolved itself. There was a cinnamon update recently, but it did not fix this issue, so I'm not sure what exactly solved it.

When I share a pages document as a PDF (via e-mail) all the pictures change from the original document, most are missing with just a few of them repeated in the spots where others had been. How do I do this without the document changing?
I need to be able to send it to a PC in order to print it.Hard to say what is happening without examining the file.
If you like click on my blue name and email me both the .pages file and the the .pdf you have made from it.

I want to order files (e.g., photos) in a particular order (not necessarily an order that is an option in MacOS. Ie, my own custom order, and I want them STAY in that order until I change the order. Is this possible?
Custom sort order is not a typical option in the list view of any desktop computing systems I know of. The way you're seeing it work is also how it works in Windows and other systems.
There is no "None" sort order. What you're seeing is a "None" option under "Arrange By." Arranging is not the same as sorting; arranging is how the files are grouped in the window. For example, you can arrange (group) files by Kind while sorting by Name. You'll notice that if you are in List view and you choose Arrange By "None," in the window there is still a sort triangle next to the column name that it's sorting by.
If Arrange is set to None, the files appear in one big group (the traditional view) that is controlled by the Sort order (where there is no None option).
I didn't even know the difference between Sort and Arrange until I saw your question and did a little research! This Macworld article helped:

As for your main question, how to do a custom sort order in the Finder, you can only rearrange files manually in Icon view. As with other operating systems, if you want to create a custom sort order for photos there are other ways:
Use a photo organizer application like iPhoto or Lightroom. Some let you have custom sort orders in folders, but others only let you have a custom sort inside a different container like an "album" or "collection". Having those additional container types is part of why photos are often best managed in an organizer application and not on the desktop.
Rename the files. You can use a renaming utility program to rename the photos with numbers that will enforce your sort order when sorted by name on the desktop, like

The Insert panel has been reworked pretty significantly in DWCC (Spry has been dead for over a year now, so it no longer appears for instance), but can still be opened via Window > Insert then dragged to the toolbar location (to get the tabs back) by clicking and dragging the Insert tab up to the top of the application frame until it highlights. Once you drop it, it will then appear as a toolbar.
Not all of the tools will be visible at all times. DWCC knows when certain things can't technically be used and it won't display them if they can't be inserted.

Why is it that when I change the contacts on my phone, it changes them on my mom and dad's as well?
My family and I recently got iPhones for Christmas. One for my dad, one for my mom, and one for me. We also have an iPad 2. They are all hooked up to iCloud via one username. When we got the phones, we had trouble transferring our contacts from our old verizon phones to our new apple ones but we eventually got the contacts we needed. At first, my mom's phone was not connected to the iCloud account shared by the rest of us and the iPad. She wanted the calendar from the iPad so I deleted the account on her phone and added the iCloud account that the iPad was using. All was fine until my dad and I realized that our contacts were wiped from our phones and replaced with my mom's. I then started painstakingly deleted my moms contacts and replacing them on my own on my phone. However, contacts were being deleted from my mom and dad's phone at the same time. It's almost like the three phones are constantly synching with each other. It would be ideal if we could get all of our contacts back the way they were before my mom changed her account but we would settle for this constant synching to stop. Please give us some direction here, we are new to this. Thanks in advance!

Because, as you said "They are all hooked up to iCloud via one username. ". That is exactly what iCloud does.
You need independent iCloud accounts for each person to maintain independent contact lists. -
I have been dragging my files to a external drive to have a back-up for them and I lost some of my folders. They just went completely missing. I didn't delete them, and it was all stuff that I have worked on in the past month. How do I get them back?
You really should be doing backups with an actual backup application, especially one that will work automatically, and, if your external HD is large enough, back up your entire system. These can automatically back up only what's changed since the previous backup, and some will keep "archive" copies of things you've changed or deleted, also.
Too many things can go wrong, such as your internal HD failing, and you'll have a major project to reinstall everything.
You already have Time Machine, built-in to OSX. You might want to review the Time Machine Tutorial, and perhaps browse Time Machine - Frequently Asked Questions.
#27 in the second link mentions some alternatives, too. -
How do you get your options in your workflow in camera raw 6.0 to stay so you don't have to change them everytime?
No one, absolutely no one should be using Adobe Camera Raw 6.0. You should be on Camera Raw 6.7.
Don't rely on the Adobe auto updater to tell you there are no available updates and assume "everything is up to date". That auto updater was totally unreliable until CS6.
The workflow options are absolutely sticky. You should not have to change them at all unless you want to.
If they're not after you update ACR to 6.7, you'd need to troubleshoot your system.

Photos in library missing from Events? I have a solution
This is a continuation from an answered question here: https://discussions.apple.com/message/15830476#15830476, but with a new twist and a solution that I found myself. Hope it helps others:
After doing a corrupt library rebuild, I noticed some photos missing from events but still existing in the library. Read the above discussion for full background then come back if you'd like.
I found photos that I could see in "Photo" view but could not see in "Events" view. I even chose one particular photo by filename. When I searched for it while in "events" view, it appeared as the sole result but it did not have an event name above it like it should have (check this by searching for a photo by name while in "Events" view). It was just sitting there like a sad eventless orphan. So I grabbed that photo with my mouse pointer and dragged it over to the navigator bar and dropped it on "Events". And this worked! I now had a new event with only that photo in it and the event was named the same name as the photo. Now the photo was magically back in Events. Since this problem was occurring with a lot of photos we took over the last month and they were intermingled by date with other photos taken over the last month (from other cameras or imported from email attachments) that were correctly in "Events", then I went to the photo view, grabbed a whole bunch of photos, many of which were not in an event and some that were, and dragged them over to the "Events" item in the tree and dropped them on it. It gave me a warning like "These photos cannot be in two events at the same time so they will all be moved into a new event" with an option to "Cancel" or "Create". I hit create and oila, I had a new event that graciously adopted all the sad orphan photos and also kidnapped some photos from other events too. I just went in, reorganized them back to proper places (thank goodness they were all recent and there were only 250 or so and not 1000s) and I am happy. Provided this works in the long term, it was an interesting workaround for a bug that I don't know the cause and I'm glad to share with all of you.
By the way, I'm using Snow Leopard and iPhoto 09' with all the lasted software updates on an Intel iMac Core 1 Duo.By the way, I was able to confirm now (I think) that all photos in the library are assigned to events by looking at the totals in "Photos" and matching it with the sum of photos and movies when "Events" is selected. Unfortunately, I didn't check to see if this was also the case before I did my fix, but if anyone is missing photos in Events that are definitely visible in the Photos view, please check these to sets of numbers and see if you can identify the discrepancy before applying my fix. That would be good proof of the bug.

You won't be able to change it until you can answer 2 of your questions - you will need to contact iTunes Support / Apple to get the questions reset.
