Missing feature at BES 10. Connecting public folder at Microsoft Exchange

Dear Develpment,
one of the different using BB to iOs or Android device was the it was possible to connect to public folder by BES 5.x.
So it was possible to syn your public contact folders of all employee of our company. We must do nothing, if data changed or a new employee added to the public folder.
Now with BES 10 and active sync technology this good feture isnt possible. - Pity.
But maybe in your planning for some next releases it is a way to implement this nice feature...
Blackberry must have some better features than iOS and Andoid.......so you would come back to one top smartphone seller...... I Hope so.
Greetings from Germany
Heinz

Hi,
Please use the Get-PublicFolderStatistics cmdlet to check if you can get public folders on Exchange 2013.
If there is no public folder listed, I recommend you run the Get-PublicFolderMigrationRequestStatistics cmdlet to view detailed information about migration requests.
Best regards,
Belinda Ma

Get-PublicFolderStatistics on the 2013 server fails with "No active public folder mailboxes were found."
Get-PublicFolderMigrationRequestStatistics needs to know more info to run. So I run it as follows:
Get-PublicFolderMigrationRequest | Get-PublicFolderMigrationRequestStatistics which gives me:
StatusDetail: StalleDueToMailboxLock
PercentComplete: 95.
This fits with the migration guide because after I reached this point I did the following to assign it to a test user:
Set-Mailbox (name of new PF mailbox) -PublicFolder -IsExcludedFromServingHierarchy $False
Set-Mailbox (name of test user) -DefaultPublicFolderMailbox (name of new PF mailbox)

  • E2010 Public Folder Store on Exchange 2003...

    Gents;
I have added my first Exchange 2010 Public folder to the Exchange 2003-Exchange 2010 setup.  I used the '.\AddReplicaToPFRecursive.ps1 ' script to add it.
Toady my users on Exchange 2003 are having trouble seeing new items on those public folders, while the ones in 2010 can see them fine.  I know I have a replication issue or at least a timing one.
My question is, can I point my Exchange 2003 mailbox servers to my Exchange 2010 public folders?
    Thanks.

  • Public Folders on Microsoft Exchange

Is there a way to access public folders on Microsoft Exchange.  This can be any version of ColdFusion and any version of Exchange.  Right now I have CF9 and Exchange 2007, but we are looking to upgrade to CF10 and Exchange 2013.

    UPDATE: (WORKING)
I tried Mihir's suggestion to change the ownership to the SERVERNAME$ for the objects within the CN=Microsoft Exchange System Objects container. I could not check the actual owner on any new folders as they will not appear in this container until they are
mail enabled. (Of which I cannot mail enable them)
On trying to change the owner from SYSTEM which is what it is on seemingly all objects, whilst I could select the Exchange server from the list, the setting would not take. (The SERVERNAME$ never appears in the list of possible owners after selecting it)
Instead I tested giving the Exchange Server (SERVERNAME$) full control permission on one of the objects/Public Folders. (Via ADSIEdit) This immediately allowed me to change as properties for the folder to include Send-As. (At last!!)
To fully resolve all permission issues, noting the Exchange server is a member of the Exchange Trusted Subsystem Group, I gave this group full control permissions on the CN=Microsoft Exchange System Objects folder and this resolved ALL permission issues
to include being able to create new folders, mail enable them etc.
No reboots/logoff etc were required, the settings are taken immediately. (Mileage may vary with replication)
Many thanks for getting me on the right track.

  • Public Folder Migration from Exchange 2007 to Exchage 2007

    Dear All,
We are having 2 exchange 2007 server in single copy cluster (SCR) with 1 branch exchange server in parent domain and another Ex2007 single copy cluster in child domain. We have deployed exchange 2013 SP1 in parent domain with ex2007 co-existence. We have
migrated all parent domain users mailbox from Ex2007 to Ex2013 SP1. All Ex2007 have public folders (FP). We want to decommission public folder server in parent domain and want to keep PF only in child domain (Ex2007) which should be accessible by all users.
We are facing a strange issue. As told earlier, in parent domain for ex2007 we have 2 Server in single copy cluster + 1 branch. Both have 1 FP each. We want to remove branch 1st. We ran "MoveAllReplica.ps1" script on branch to move all replica
to single copy cluster. Now it shows system folder with all 0 contents as shown below:
    [PS] C:\Windows\system32>Get-PublicFolderStatistics -Server branch
    Name                                     ItemCount

Now the issue is, if we dismount the FP store on branch server, all users are unable to access their FP. they get error saying exchange is down for maintenance. If we see connection status then we saw that its trying to connect branch FP server. In all client
setting we have removed branch server PF folder. What are we missing? Now our users who migrated to Ex2013 don't have any FP client setting also to look into. We tried reading lots of stuff but nothing seems to fix. Any advise is highly appreciated.
Feel free to revert for any clarity!!
    Thanks in advance!!

    Dear All,
We did little research and below are the results:
    1. After moving Mailbox from SingleCopyCluster(SCC) DB to Ex2013, the user while connecting to PF connects to branch exchange PFs (where is his client setting points to SCC PF). He can access PF on SCC as well
    2. If we discount branch PF DB, user gets error "Exchange server down for maintenance" while expanding PF. If we see connection status then it shows trying to connecting to Branch PF
    3. If we move the mailbox back to old Ex2007 SCC, users connects to right PF (only SCC) and can work without issue even if we discount branch PF DB
As we have migrated MBX to Ex2013, there is no client setting to point migrated users to SCC PF.
Hope it help all of you to suggest what might fix this..
    Thanks again..

I have been trying to migrate approx 50 public folders from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 for several months.  I have followed every link I can find on how to do the migration properly.  It will stay in a queued state for hours until the MRS is

    Hi,
Basic on the error message, I notice that public folder migrate slow and display that “Relinquishing job because of large delays due to unfavorable server health or budget limitations” .
If I misunderstand your concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Since it is just slow and not failing, please do not stop the batch, it might connect to another server for sync.
Meanwhile, please refer to below link so that get details about Exchange Online migration performance and best practices:
    https://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn592150(v=exchg.150).aspx
If the issue persists, please collect the relevant migration report for further troubleshooting.
    Thanks

  • Public Folder Migration from Exchange 2007 to 2013

    Hi Guys,
I have a general Exchange 07-13 migration question about migrating the PF's and System Folder Information, I read somewhere that the SystemFolder info doesn't come across, can someone shed some light on this for me please?
    Thanks,
    Ray

    Hi Ray,
Free/Busy information is stored in system public folder. If you want to decommission the Exchange 2007 Server, you need to add the replicas to Exchange 2013 Server.
What's more, if the users use Outlook 2003, they will rely on the Free/Busy folders. If the users are using Outlook 2007 or newer, then Outlook utilizes something called the Availability Service and no longer relies on the Free/Busy folder.
Please refer to the following article to migrate public folders from Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013.

  • Problem with public folder initialization on exchange load generator 2010

    hi,
we need to make some stress charge for a migration between 2010 and 2013. Before that we need to populate our exchange 2010 lab with full mailbox and public folders. So we tried Exchange load generator 2010 for this task ( initialization only).
Loadgen did well for the mailbox but we have some problems with the public folders. we have an empty public folder database and the user we run loadgen with has organization admin and public folder management right. the problem is that when we run this command
(for initializing public folder only, mailbox's done) :
    loadgencmd.exe /p /c config.xml /add trace.log
IT create only one public folder with the user we run loadgen with, and 5-8 objects inside. We need that It create a public folder for each users it created before. Maybe we do not understand loadgen
    correctly...

    I found my solution :
customize the <PublicStoreProfile> section in the configuration file as follows:
     <PublicStoreProfile>
        <MessageFiles />
        <TopLevelFolderCount>1</TopLevelFolderCount>
        <NonTopLevelFolderCount>1</NonTopLevelFolderCount>
        <MinimumFolderDepth>1</MinimumFolderDepth>
        <AverageFolderDepth>2</AverageFolderDepth>
        <MaximumFolderDepth>3</MaximumFolderDepth>
        <MinimumMessageCount>5</MinimumMessageCount>
        <AverageMessageCount>10</AverageMessageCount>
        <MaximumMessageCount>15</MaximumMessageCount>
        <UseOrdinalFolderName>false</UseOrdinalFolderName>
      </PublicStoreProfile>
Simply put differents values for each variables.

  • Replication of Public Folder data from Exchange Sp1 to Exchange SP2

I have one Exch 2010 SP1 server and I am migrating to another Exch 2010 SP2 server.  I am looking to migrate the old public folder data to a newer public folder database on the SP2 server.  I have gone into Public Folder Management and added the
new server as a replication partner in properties of the folder, under "Replicate content to these public folder databases".  After doing this, I don't see any replication occurring from the 2 servers.  I turned on diagnostic logging on
both and I don't see any errors being created, just seem like nothing is happening.
What should I look for to troubleshoot this further?
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi JoeyC,
From your description, I would like to clarify the following things for troubleshooting:
    1. Make sure that Mail flow is working between two servers.
    2. Please refer to the following article to confirm that the configuration is right.
    Configure Public Folder Replication
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb691120(v=exchg.141).aspx
What's more, here is an article about scripts to move public folders to a different database or server for your reference.
Move Public Folder Content from One Public Folder Database to Another Public Folder Database
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb331970(v=exchg.141).aspx
    Hope it helps.
    Best regards,

  • How to change the Name and/or Alias of a Public Folder Mailbox in Exchange 2013

So when I migrated our servers from 2010 to 2013. I did not plan well and ended up with this.
    Name                      Alias
    Mailbox1                  PF1
    Mailbox2                  Mailbox2
    Mailbox3                  Mailbox3
As you can see the first mailbox is named PF1. I want to be able to change both the name and the alias, but have failed to find mechanism for doing so in ecp or powershell. Any assistance is greatly appreciated. I would also like to change the email address
for these as right now they are [email protected], [email protected], [email protected]
    Thank you very much

Set-Mailbox -Identity Mailbox1 -PublicFolder -Name NewName1 -Alias NewName1 -PrimarySMTPAddress [email protected]

  • Mail won't sync all folder from Microsoft Exchange

I have been using Mail to connect to my office Exchange account from past 6 months and the experience has not been great so far.
Each day when I open Mail, it syncs only the folder which is currently selected and does not sync other folders at all. I need to synchronize multiple times and restart Mail multiple times to get this working correctly. And Mail also intermittently stops receiving mails with no error.
I tried it on both iMac desktop and MacBook pro and results were the same. Whenever I face this, I try to use Connection Doctor and Ping to monitor server and it seems to be fine.
Anybody else facing the issue? Any troubleshooting tips or fixing tips are welcome.
Thanks a lot for your time in advance.

Which version of exchange are you connecting to? How did you set it up?

  • How do I connect my iPad to Microsoft exchange server

How do I connect to my desk top that is running windows XP through a server running windows exchange server 2003 using a ipad2?

Some servers want the AD domain included in the setup and some don't. Try both with and without the domain and see if one of those allows it to verify.

  • Public Folder Mailbox- Missing Primary Hierarchy Exchange 2013

    Hi guys,
I was attempting to create a Public Folder using the Exchange Admin Center but when i tried it came up with the error "Couldn't find the public folder mailbox."
When I went back to check on the Public Folder Mailbox that I had created I noticed that there was no Primary Hierarchy even though Secondary Hierarchy where visible.
Is it Possible to recreate the Primary or change one of the existing Secondaries.
    Thanks

  • Exchange 2013 Users cannot access Public folder in Exchange 2007 SP3

    Dears,
i am working in Upgrading Exchange 2007 to Exchange 2013 CU7,, I came to know with CU7 we have new way for coexistence with legacy Public Folder
    https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn690134(v=exchg.150).aspx
i did the steps exactly as it is in the article,  but now users in Exchange 2013 always prompt for username /password when opening outlook and i found they still trying to connect to Exchange 2007 PF Server using HTTPS and failed..
BTW, Outlook anywhere is disabled in EX2007 and as per this article Q/A , it is no more needed
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2014/11/07/on-premises-legacy-public-folder-coexistence-for-exchange-2013-cumulative-update-7-and-beyond.aspx
the issue now, still users getting prompted and cannot connect to PF in EX2007,,
    your help is appreciated
    thanks

I ran into the same situation recently, and found out that you need to make sure InternalClientsRequireSSL is set to false.
To verify: Run Get-OutlookAnywhere | fl Identity, *ssl
If it is true, try setting it to false.

  • Public folder replication 2003 2010 not starting

I have ran powershell scripts on exchange 2010 to add replicas recursively (a week ago) I then ran moveallreplicas scipt.
I have checked on 2010 and there are no pf replicas or folders
I checked 2003 and re-added the 2003 server as a replica server and ran pfdavadmin and verified the replication tab and files were all correct.
I then ran exfolders on the 2010 server but that shows no data under replicas or replication or file nothing at all.
I checked the queues on exchange 2003 to make sure the data was not getting backed up but the queues are empty.
Can someone tell me what troubleshooting technique to try next?
***Don't forget to mark helpful or answer***

    Hi,
Please make sure you connect to a public folder server in Public Folder Management Console.
And please make sure you have a public folder database in Exchange 2010 and make sure you see the public folder hierarchy. Without hierarchy, the MoveAllReplicas.ps1 script won't do anything because there are no folders in the hierarchy to modify.
You can use the Get-PublicFolder -Server <NewServerName> cmdlet to check result.
Here is a blog about public folder migration to Exchange 2010 which may help you for your reference.
