Missing Features in PHP Extension

Hello,
The PHP extension is cool but, it is missing one thing. There isn't a design window. Sometimes I don't like to code HTML and it would be cool to have the design window so I can drag and drop html elements onto the page like what you can do with a JSP page. In the design window, Jdeveloper could put an icon in the place where the PHP code is just like it puts an icon in the place where there is a scriptlet on a JSP page.

JDeveloper certainly is certainly a fully featured IDE with good support for many web technologies. I agree it would be a good feature for the JDeveloper PHP Extension.

  • HowTo: The SSH2 PHP Extension and You

    Until a few days ago, I didn't care about the SSH extension for PHP. I didn't have a use for it. Why should I care. Then I discovered that Wordpress' autoupdate feature wouldn't work without it (if you use SFTP, like I do). Oh. Maybe I need this thing.
    Problem 1) It isn't installed by default by Apple.
    Problem 2) All the online help says to use PECL to install it. Also not installed.
    Problem 3) Everything else that could possibly go wrong.
    So, I'm not guaranteeing this will work for you, or not destroy your server completely, but it worked for me. So...um...beware.
    The end result we're looking for is a nice little ssh2.so extension for php to look at. Now, let's try to get there:
    With all this talk of PECL, I decided to grab PEAR (which seems to no longer be a part of the OS) and install it. So I downloaded go-pear from: http://pear.php.net/go-pear and installed that.
    The only thing you need to change is the install directory (/usr/local is what I used, I think).
    Next comes the libssh libraries. These are required. Sadly, I could not install these from source. The reason? I received many errors about libz.dylib being of the wrong architecture. Weird, because I believe that came with the system. So it's Apple's fault if it's not i386 and 64bit. Darn.
    So I did a crazy thing and installed it through a port. Well, I backed up all of my existing libssh and libssl files before I did anything. Then I used Macports to install recent versions of those into /opt/local/lib
    Once that was done, I copied them over to /usr/local/lib and then crossed my fingers.
    Get the source from: http://www.libssh2.org/ then configure it with:
    +MACOSXDEPLOYMENTTARGET=10.6 CFLAGS="-arch x86_64 -g -Os -pipe -no-cpp-precomp" CCFLAGS="-arch x86_64 -g -Os -pipe" CXXFLAGS="-arch x86_64 -g -Os -pipe" LDFLAGS="-arch x86_64 -bindatload" ./configure --with-openssl+
    make
    +make install+
    If that works, you're halfway done.
    Download the latest PECL package for ssh2 from: http://pecl.php.net/package/ssh2
    Go to the directory and do the following:
    phpize
    Now stop. There's a bug in php that prevents this from working properly. So we have to patch it. Yeah, I told you this process was ridiculous. Copy this: http://remi.fedorapeople.org/ssh2-php53.patch into a text file in that same ssh2 directory. Run:
    +patch -p0 < patchfilename+
    Now we can configure and make:
    +MACOSXDEPLOYMENTTARGET=10.6 CFLAGS="-arch x86_64 -g -Os -pipe -no-cpp-precomp" CCFLAGS="-arch x86_64 -g -Os -pipe" CXXFLAGS="-arch x86_64 -g -Os -pipe" LDFLAGS="-arch x86_64 -bindatload" ./configure+
    make
    +make test+
    +make install+
    It should install a nice ssh2.so file somewhere in /usr/lib/php/extensions/
    Now edit your /etc/php.ini file to include that directory for: extension_dir = /usr/lib/php/extensions/no-debug-non-zts-200xxxxxx
    Also add the line: extension=ssh2.so in there somewhere.
    Now restart apache:
    +apachectl graceful+
    And you're done. You might need to look at your phpinfo to make sure it's loaded, but Wordpress should now be happy. Hope this helps someone. Took me a few days to get it right and I may have forgotten all the steps. But this should work.

    I think I followed your instructions and got SSH2 PHP installed. Nothing seemed to go wrong (though I was sure at points my server was literally just going to start laughing at me for all the wonky steps!), and phpinfo lists ssh2 as being installed. Auto-update in Wordpress now lists SSH2 as an option. However, I can't get it to work, each time getting the error message saying "Failed to connect to SSH2 Server hostname.net:22. I've tried IP address, different hostnames, password, no password, listed where the public and private keys are (which i think I generated correctly with the "ssh-keygen -t dsa" command, but still nothing. Can ssh normally from outside of the firewall. Wondering if you had any suggestions, as you obviously know what you are talking about regarding php/ssh/wordpress!

You got this by selecting the metadata inspector and then selecting the Keywords tab at the bottom of the inspector. This lookup feature appears to be missing from A3, or at least I can't find it, nor is it listed in the manual. Has this feature been left out of A3?

  • List of missing features in CC 2014 for film editors

    hello everyone,
    I was thinking about some features I miss in CC 2014 (and I really was hoping they will be there, because the most of them are just basics...) and made a list which I want to send (again...) to Adobe as feature request. Premiere improved a lot in last years, but there are still some basic functions which you absolutely need as a professional editor, which still aren`t implemented. What do you think about the list? or maybe did I overlook some of the new features in CC 2014? Just so you know, I`m using Premiere mostly for editing movies (shorts, but will edit my first feature film this year), also promotional films, but much more less. So my biggest concern right now is if Premiere is the right choice for editing a feature, which of course means a lot of material, probably Red Raw.
    so here`s what I totally miss in Premiere:
    1. auto sync/auto merge: synching by timecode or waveform all of the video and audio clips in the bin/in the timeline at once and not one after another. and merging them all at once, not one after another. it works of course, but it takes ages!
    2. merged clips should be more flexible,
    - it should be possible to use the option "interpret footage" on merged clips, sometimes you have to modify them after they were merged and you`re already editing for a long time.
    - replacing raw footage should also replace the footage in the (already merged and edited in a timeline) merged clips
    3. the aaf export is much too simple, there are a lot of options I miss there. it is great solve in Avid and in automatic duck in Final Cut, something like that would be great
    4. the possibility to change color space in the project and play out. yes, this option is available in After Effects, but you can`t always use it, because there is some footage you can`t import in AE (like titles!)
    5. .. which leads me to the last point: it should be possible to export the titles from Premiere with an alpha channel (I`m using the titles as the subtitles)
    bugs that need to be fix:
    - audio dropouts!
    Are there any feature films editors here? what is your experience with working on big projects on premiere?

    Another missing feature, automatically filling in formulas when a new row is created. For instance, say you have 3 columns, 1 + 2 = 3. In Office 2004, when I add a new row, that formula is automatically inserted. It's just one of those nice little time saving features that would be nice.

  • Where are the many missing features in Numbers found?

    The more that I use Numbers the less likely that I will ever go through the motions of trying to get Numbers to do enough of the things that have to be done in order for my income tax program to work. Like in another post I have some of my smaller tax forms to say that they are too big to be imported. There seems to be too many missing features to do a useful job.
    This leaves trying to use Numbers to handle new small, small, small spreadsheets. At the present times I have little problem setting up a format for a cell providing the formatting is available. In Excel the easiest way to copy a format to a new cell is to use format painter. Many time copy/paste will work. But copy/paste will move the formula also. I have not been able to find a way to do this with Numbers.
    So far the sliders feature is the one feature that interests me enough to try to use Numbers in the real work handling portion of my business. Many things I want to do either I can't find out how to do them or there are too many added keystrokes needed compared to Excel to make me want to do a spreadsheet in Numbers.
    Since the majority of my spreadsheets do not use a header row or header column I have to get that turned off. Tax sheets have a lot of blank spaces to start things out & normally will be different than the next sheet.
    I used a lot of cell/range names as well as individual cells. I use 450+ cell names in my main Form 1040, A,B,D,NE,IA page. That still leaves me needing to know the row/column designation most of the time. I cannot find where that information is displayed in Numbers.
    I keep looking, but generally do not find the needed feature that I need. Many like the cell designation is so basic. Being able to use the arrow keys to move to a cell for inclusion in a formula is another one that I am unable to do. Using the help files do not come close to answering any question that I have with Numbers. Where is the Numbers, "Missing Manual?" I need what I don't have & may not be made at the current time.
    Like Pages 1.0, Numbers 1.0 doesn’t seem ready for prime time use. There are too many missing features be a very complete spreadsheet. Some I probably can’t find, some probably are not there.
    I need help.

  • Missing Features, Bugs, and Wish List for Apple Engineers

    I LOVE my iPhone. It is by far the best phone I have ever had. The interface is awesome. Great job Apple, but there are missing features and bugs that all of us want updated or wish were added. I know they were probably already thought of by Apple, but in an effort to make the phone perfect removed to make it more stable. Now that it is out lets make it perfect.
    This thread will hopefully give you guys guidance from the early adopters who share your love for the phone (and others who want to chime in). I want to separate the list into a few categories and hope everyone will add to this thread with their ideas:
    1) BUGS/CHANGES TO EXISTING APPS:
    - Period should be in alphabet keyboard (make space smaller) or when you go to symbol keyboard and hit period it should automatically go back to the alphabet keyboard (unless you double click the symbol button which means stay there like caps lock)
    - Individual delete (like Mail) of all lists (eg. call list, bookmarks list, history etc.
    - Multiple item in a List delete (see below for how to select). This is also so un-Mac like to not be able to select multiple items to delete. It is all or none for clear/delete on the iPhone.
    - Implement double finger slide...in maps double finger tap zooms out so the OS recognizes this, why don't you use a double finger drag to mean "select". There is no way to select some words in a sentence or a group of items. This could be how. eg. In a list (eg Mail) double finger slide over items you want to select (instead of singer finger drag which moves the list) then one finger slide to the right to delete the selected items from the list.
    - Copy and paste. Since there are no menus this would require a gesture (ala newton)
    - when you tap the battery icon it should bring up a battery status dialog (ala wifi join dialog where the screen dims): present charge, big battery icon (like the charging one), time left. In addition, instead of giving battery usage details only after a full charge, give it at any point.
    - Since you know that nights and weekends are at set times (and not variable like it was on Sprint where I came from)...the phone usage details should be broken down into: peak minutes used and N+W minutes used (not hard to figure out since you know the time and dates of calls)
    - Be able to change font/background etc in Notes app
    - faster way to get to favorites in the killer phone app after turning on phone. Just seems like it takes too many taps to get there to make a call on a phone.
    2) WISH LIST FOR NEW APPS (apps that can be added with existing hardware, see #3 for other wishes)
    - iChat (obvious and probably almost done)
    - VOIP (probably not going to happen, and wouldn't work in Europe where I would need it most gven network speeds there)
    - Flight tracker widget
    - Exchange support (probably in the works)
    - Push email from gmail and .Mac (probably in the works)
    - Bluetooth sync
    - DUN (probably not going to happen since AT+T does not want it)
    - Data/File storage with sync
    - TODO APP that syncs to to do in iCal
    - Ringtones, definitely from songs from iPod side (obvious and coming soon I am sure)
    -Search function like spotlight. Global would be awesome, but even just in contacts
    3) FUTURE HARDWARE RELATED WISHES (stuff we wish could be in hardware version 1 but know require a version 2):
    - GPS
    - 3G
    - LED that changes color and/or pulses (like MacBooks sleep light) that indicates things (eg charge status, Voice mail status, roaming status etc) without turning on the phone
    - Move camera to front to allow video conferencing (I doubt Steve would allow since it would mess up the clean front look)
    Well I could go on and will add to this thread later, but I need to go to work to show everyone (and sell more apple stuff since many of my colleagues have been converted to macs). Now, all you pioneers, start adding things to help our beloved phone become better!

    I agree with your post! I'm amazed by the simplicity, the screen, and the apps on the iPhone. They all have worked wonderfully for me, with just a few crashes while surfing or loading big email images. (I heard that shutting down the phone and restarting helps that.)
    The single flaw for me is that the phone app itself should be primary, with more options (quicker access, unique ringtones, voicedial?) and ease of use. The other applications are so elegant, but I need my phone to be very accessible and practical too.
    My wish list:
    1) Make it fewer taps to get to the point where you can make a phone call. How about the main button can be programmed to take you wherever you want. I'd choose to go to Phone Favorites, so I could speed dial right away.
    2) Be able to set a preference as to what app you're in when you wake up the phone. I'd choose phone keypad, some might choose iCal, etc.
    3) Add the period and comma symbols to the alpha keyboard.
    4) Allow different ringtones for specific caller ID's.
    5) Copy and paste.
    V2) With new hardware, add a "back" button to return to prev. screen. It could be small, on the side near volume?

  • Missing features

    I'm delighted with many aspects of iPhone, but there are several "missing features":
    1 - There is no <Find> or <Search> function at all. Being used to Spotlight on Mac OSX, I expected to be able to search for keywords in text messages, contacts, notes, etc etc etc. This is a grave omission and reduces the functionality of iPhone for me. Let's say I'm looking for an electrician, and I know I have someone in my contacts, but can't remember his name. I should be able to hit <Find> and type in "electrician" - which would deliver a list of contacts and notes containing that word.
    2 - There is no way to send a Contact to another phone via Bluetooth or Text message. Every other phone I've ever had (from some really old Nokia phones to the latest Sony Ericsson) had this function. You could select a contact, then open a menu and choose "send as...", and then select how to send the info, either via Bluetooth or Infrared (if applicable) or simply via SMS to another person's phone. This is VERY restrictive.
    3 - As a Mac user, I am used to contextual menus everywhere. Hold <ctrl> and click and you get lots of options wjich relate to whatever you are doing. There are no menus at all on iPhone. I'm sure this was intentional, but it would really be useful to have menus in many areas. For example, to send a contact as noted in my point 2 above. Or to re-name a pin in Maps.
    4 - What about being able to copy and paste text? I can't believe this is not available. It ties in with my suggestion above for contextual menus. We really need more functionality on the iPhone
    I do LOVE the phone and find the whole experience captivating, fun and intuitive. However, the missing features noted above really sour the experience.

  • Missing features in Audition CS5.5

    Ok, I have been playing around intensively with Audition CS5.5 for a few weeks now. Aside from the thing that SES to SESX import did not work natively (thanks Todd, for giving me the link, although I do think that it should have been included in the software in the first place), there are some other things that bug me.
    Here's my top 4 (in order of personal importance):
    1. GROUP CLIPS
    This feature is missing. If you're working on a mix, you need to be able to move parts quickly, not risking screwing up parts that are OK. Manually selecting all clips and then moving them is timewise not very efficient. IMHO, we really shouldn't have to wait until CS6 for this feature to return...
    2. LAYOUT
    I keep hitting the vertical zoom sign whenever I want to zoom in horizontally. I use horizontal zooming much more than vertical. Of course you can use the + or - signs on the keyboard, but I find myself hitting the on-screen button time and again. In Au 3 they were in the "correct" position. And there's no way of adjusting the workspace so that I can place the buttons where I like them to be. I am so used to this on-screen layout, that I think it will take a long time to adjust to this.
    3. CLIP TIME STRETCH
    You can't drag clips to stretch them to a desired length. You do have an improved dialog for Strecth and Pitch (which I like), but you can't do it visually on the timeline.
    4. PRE-LISTEN TRACKS
    I Au 3 you could quickly sort through multiple effect tracks by pre-listening them using Auto-play in the import dialog to find that right type of swoosh you need from your sound collection. Now you can't, or you have to rely on Adobe Bridge.
    I know that the Adobe Bug Report / Feature Request form is the best way to submit these (and I frequently use that), but I'm also curious if other sound editors deal with the same problems.

    I believe no one has responded to the original post because all of these topics have been discussed in other threads since Audition CS 5.5 was released.  We absolutely appreciate knowing which missing features are most important to our users so that we can place priority toward implementing them.  While I can't divulge what features will be in Audition CS 6 at this time, I think it's safe to say that most of these requests will be satisfied.
    Regarding the layout of the Zoom buttons, it is possible to display these buttons both within the standard Editor panel (the default view) and as a separate panel which can be positioned as you like.  Click Window > Zoom in the menu bar to open this panel.

    The thread is intended to keep together a list of BT Cloud features that people would like but that are not present.  It is sometimes difficult to keep buts and missing features apart; if posting please try to keep to the 'missing features' subject.  While I can, I will edit this first post rather than adding extra posts as I add extra comments.
    BT Cloud is a new service (or a new interface to an old service) so has many missing features; with luck if we record these the team will try to get them added at some point.  I have found them very responsive on the issues with speed (even though they haven't yet managed to resolve them), and I hope they will be equally responsive here.

    I can share files but not directories.  On the Windows GUI, 'Share' is greyed out when a directory is selected.  On the web GUI, you can select 'Share', but all the options are then greyed out except 'Show Sharing History'

    Expect shift-click to select a range of files/directories.
    Expect ctrl-a to select all.

    after clicking left button on the notification icon a secondary (nonstandard) pair of icons comes up,
    if you right-click on the left of these you get a useful menu with pause, exit and help.
    These should all appear on a right button click of the notification icon,
    and help should be available from the main screen as a button or by hitting F1.

    Don't seem to be able to select folders from a network drive to back up.
    Dones not work using either network drive directly, or via mapped drive letter.

    You will have to disregard my previous comments. It seems that when I tried to use the BT Cloud app for the first time it had not set up fully. There was no access to the help pages.
    A section by section read through the instructions shows that most features in my listing are there. Even a pause feature, and of course, being able to quit the app..
    For every day use the app seems to be fully effective.
    Other users with more advanced demands may find some problems.
    The demands on the Windows 7 operating system are low, using little processing time and only a minor RAM usage.

  • My list of missing features

    Ok, some are repeats:
    PivotTables and Grouping.
    Although I'm no scientist or engineer, missing those two key features is frustrating.
    Another thing I find missing is summaries within the graphs themselves. And especially auto-update. Right now to get that to work I can drag my series to include the footer, but then it includes the footers value into my chart. In Excel, the tables know when you've added an additional row and adds that to the chart. I mostly use trend graphs, so having to go back to each chart and update the selection is very tedious. Or having the Sum value at the end throw off the averages I'm trying to trend. Nothing like having a bunch of values around 2-3 or 20-30 over an average and then a huge 10k number at the end to make the rest unreadable.
    While I may just be missing how to do this, but I don't see any easy way of bringing data in from another workbook.
    I know this one is a little silly, but clipart. I love the idea of iPhoto integration (and Aperature) it's only a shame I use LightRoom but at the same time, I'm a photographer, so why would I have little silly clipart's in my DAM system? It would be nice to have a clipart gallery that's separate from iPhoto that can be accessed through all the iWork programs.
    Another thing, Data Validation. Either in the form of verifying data is within a certain range or doesn't exceed a set amount, to creating lists.
    Oh, and a Divide function. Why can't this ever be easy? lol I know you can just us / but they have a Quotient function, but it only rounds to whole numbers and then MOD which does the remainder, why not just a simple function for both?
    And password protection.
    Yes, I know it's just a 1.0.0 release, and I think it's pretty good for a start, but I do think it's a little premature and hopefully not going to follow the XBox trap of ruining itself before it's supposed to be released. However, the same things happened with Aperature and Apple was quick to address many of those issues. So here's to ditching Office for good . . . just not yet.

  • Acrobat X Pro is missing features

    After recently re-install my X Pro, it appears to be missing features...
    I don't have the option to extract pages,
    I can no longer copy and paste comments within a document,
    and when I print to pdf the hyperlinks are not active.
    Any suggestions to fix would be appreciated.

    Thank You for posting on the forums. Here are the answers to your questions.
    1) I don't have the option to extract pages > You can find Extract pages under Tools>Pages
    2) I can no longer copy and paste comments within a document > You need to select the comment first and when it is highlighted with a blue line> Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V.
    3) when I print to pdf the hyperlinks are not active> Printing to PDF would remove the hyperlink, that is a designed behavior, you need to convert the file to pdf using pdf maker or file>create pdf form file.

  • How To Remove PHP Extension File Association With Internet Explorer

    When I select a PHP file to open it is redirected to be downloaded and opened (or I can choose to save) in Internet Explorer.  I need to test the file in different browsers.  How can I remove this automatic association?
    I've tried selecting a php file from Windows Explorer and selecting a different browser with no success.  I recently bought a new computer with Windows 8.  It's a big jump from my old one which used XP where there was no problem opening files with
    a php extension.

    it sounds like you have a file association for .php, and, that you don't want to have one, so the original default behaviour would instead be preferable?

  • Missing features in OS2 Email client

    There are two glaringly missing features in the slick OS2 E-mail client.
    First, and most annoying when starting up with OS2, there is no "mark all as read" option.
    This matters when adding a new but exisitng account, as we are all doing now.
    Second, there is no "include me in all replies" option.  
    This matters when you are reading email on more than one platform, as in, your 
    desktop normally and your Playbook when travelling.  I need a copy of my replies
    made on the Playbook sent to my email account.

    A copy of the replies sent from PB are VERY much needed!!!

  • Trouble compiling PHP extension w/ threaded PHP 5.2.4

    Hello,
    I'm having some trouble installing the Berkeley DB XML PHP extension on Debian Sarge 3.1.
    First, I installed Berkeley DB XML 2.3.10 using the buildall.sh script into /usr/local/dbxml-2.3.10/.
    Then, I downloaded PHP 5.2.4 source code, compiled it using pthreads (configure --enable-maintainer-zts) and installed it in /usr/local/php-5.2.4/.
    I've built the db4.so extension and it seems to work (verified by running the example simple_counter.php script and seeing that the counter is incremented).
    However, building the Berkeley DB XML extension fails with the following error:

    It's solved by changing TSRMLS_DC to TSRMLS_CC in these two lines:

    This is because maybe zend_exception_get_default needs the tsrm_ls (what is this anyway? some sort of thread-local storage pointer?)
    OK, but inside the php_dbxml_init_exceptions() there is no pointer so it is fixed with a fetch (also there is another one like that on line 51):

    In php_dbxml_document.cpp there is also use of TSRMLS_DC inside code that leads to errors (Looking at the macro definition I think this is for declarations right?) so we change it.

    And finally it compiled and worked (judging by the examples anyway).
    Please tell me if I did something wrong along the way. Is it better to compile PHP without ZTS and compile BDB XML without pthreads to avoid this mess?

    It seems like that was not the end of the troubles. When executing examples/10.php php crashes with a relocation error saying that it can't find php_db4_getDbEnvFromObj (which should be in the db4.so php module).
    OK, so I grab the g++ linking command that the libtool invocation spits out and add the installed db4.so to the object files and the extension diretory to rpath (I don't know if I can use the config.m4 because the db4.so has no lib prefix i.e. libdb4.so). Now ldd reports that it's linking correctly to the installed db4.so so I try again. The same relocation error pops up.
    When I checked, it seems like db4.so has C++ mangled symbol of php_db4_getDbEnvFromObj(_zval_struct*, void***), but not the C form, and dbxml.so is expecting the C form because it includes php_db4.h inside extern "C".
    This is probably because while the header php_db4.h is included within extern "C" {} within the db4.cpp impl file, the prototypes don't match (there is one additional param in the impl) between the ones in the header and the ones in the .cpp file because of the threading additions...
    Why do I get the feeling the compilation w/ threaded PHP has not been tested at all :-(. I give up, I'm compiling a nonthreaded version of PHP instead. For my use, this shouldn't matter anyway, but it would be nice if it was possible (or at least say it's not quite tested in the README file).

    I’ve owned Macs since 1990 (IICX my first), mostly desktops. Having had DVD/CD drives in all my previous laptop Macs since 2001 -  (2) G4 Powerbooks,  A 17” Mac Book Pro - and also inspecting a friend’s year-old Mac Book Pro which had the DVD slot - unless someone told me at purchase, I had no reason to know that the Retina display version of the 15” had NO DVD drive. ANYHOW, I fully intended to buy the non-Retina display version, because it was cheaper. Unfortunately by the time I got to the Apple store they were no longer selling the non-Retina display version; all versions were ONLY with the Retina display. And the fine distinction of a DVD vs. a non-DVD drive was not pointed out. So now I have to shell out an additional $80 bucks for an external SuperDrive.
