Missing file content in new iTunes

I downloaded the new iTunes on my Windows 7.  Many of my music files now only have the title of the song.  The content, including album, artist, genre, etc is still with the file in Windows Explorer but not with the song on iTunes.  Because of this none of my songs are categorized into their correct albums and artists.  How do I get the content that is on my computer to show in iTunes?

And if you remove from you iDevice one app that should appear on File Sharing and sync and then add it back and sync again...

  • Transfer itune files to a new itunes account?

can I transfer itune files to a new itunes account?

mskatyjane, have you recevied any other info on this problem?  I have the same question, i.e.
I have an iPod Touch and so does my son.  Until now, I have "shared" my iTunes account with him, syncing both iPods to my iTunes account, and only putting on his iPod the music/games he liked.  He is now old enough to have his own iTunes account on his own computer.  Is there a way to create an AppleID for him and transfer his info from my iTunes account into his new one?  I believe that if I create an Apple ID for him, and try to sync his iPod, it will say that his iPod is already synced with another iTunes/Apple ID account.
Hope we get a response!  I have posted my question separately as well.

  • Download has left me with missing files and cannot start iTunes

I was prompted to upgrade iTunes and so I did.  The upgrade started when Genuis was still doing it's thing.  At the end of the download, I was prompted to restart.  I closed what I was working on and restarted. Now, I when I try to start iTunes, I get an error message that says there are missing files and that I should re-install iTunes.   If I uninstall, will I lose the music files?  I tried to re-download, but this did not fix anything.  Any advice?

With that one in that context, I think we should check for malware.
Try downloading and installing the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware. Update your MBAM definitions and then run a full scan of the PC. (Takes about 2 hour on my Lenovo.)

Does the scan find any infections? If so, please paste the contents of the log file for the scan in a reply here so we can have a look.

  • I can't import files into the new iTunes 11. Why?

Since downloading the new iTunes 11, required for the new iOS 7, I can no longer import files into my iTunes library.
When dragging and dropping the files, nothing happens.
When importing them via the iTunes menu. Nothing happens.
I've tried adding them to the iTunes folder "automatically add to iTunes library". Nothing happened.
I've had the new iTunes for one day, and it doesn't work.
    Can somebody please help me?!

    Sorted. Sorry.
The files did not have album name / artist name etc... etc.... Had to find them and type them manually.

  • Have tried to open my itunes and the message given states that itunes can not be opened due to missing files.  Please reinstall itunes. Repeated attempts to reinstall give the same result...any ideas?

Have tried to open my existing itunes but it states that it can not be opened due to missing files...please reinstall itunes. Repeated attempts to reinstall are to no avail....any ideas?

I assume you are talking about iTunes on your computer, if so, you will have to remove all Apple programs associated with iTunes:
iTunes,  QuickTime, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour and Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Make sure everything that is by Apple is removed including Safari. You can sort by "Publisher", when you uninstall programs.  Make sure you have at least one other web browser (like Firefox or Internet Explorer) before removing Safari. That way you can go back to the Apple web site and redownload iTunes later.
Reboot the computer then reinstall iTunes.  Everything should work normally.

  • Importing previously purchased content to new itunes

My compuer had a bug and they completely wiped out my hard drive. I reinstalled Itunes on my computer and it easily added all the music found on my computer, but all of the music I previously purchased on itunes was nowhere to be found. I thought "check for available updates" might download my previously purchased content to my new computer. did i lose the hundreds of dollars of music i had purchased from itunes? Is there anyway I can use my account records to get all those songs into my new itunes library?

Hopefully this article helps you out.

  • TS1717 Missing File Needed To Launch ITunes  MSVCR80.dll

    I got a itunes and cloud update notice.  The cloud update was successful but itunes wasn't.  I tried to open itunes on my HP laptop but got error message;
Program can't start MSVCR80.dll is missing from computer.  Try reinstall program to fix.  I tried to uninstall itunes all together and reinstall it.  I still get the same error message and another - Itunes not installed correctly - Error 7:  Windows Error 126.
I can't find the missing MSVCR80.dll anywhere in my recycle bin.
How can I get this missing file and whatever else is needed to get itunes back on my computer?
    Thanks

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • How do you add full folders and not just individual files in the new itunes?

How do you add full folders and not just individual files in new itunes? i just reformatted my HD and went to add all my music and it's only letting me add files not folders!?!?

"Add Folder to Library" is still in the file menu, but you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the file menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:

  • How do I transfer ipad files to a new itunes library?

Hello, my itunes library was destroyed when my harddrive failed.  I still have data on my ipad, but do not know how to transfer it to a new itunes library on my mac (snow leopard).  I found several applications that claim to do just this and more for a fee, but I don't think that it is reasonable to pay for this simple function.  Apparently it is a relatively simple proceedure on a PC.
    Cheers,
    Cormac

It is just as easy on a Mac if you know what to do. Authorize the computer first - launch iTunes and go to Store>Authorize this Computer from the iTunes menu.
    1) Without connecting your iPad to your computer, start iTunes. Click on iTunes. Click on Preferences. Click on Devices. Check the box next to "Prevent your iPod etc. from automatically syncing." Click OK.
    2) Now connect your iPad to your Mac and start iTunes.
    3) When iTunes starts, right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select Transfer purchases etc.
    4) After it finishes transferring all your apps to your Mac, right click on your iPad and select Backup your iPad.
    5) After it finishes backing up your iPad, right click on your iPad and select Restore etc.
    6) After it finishes restoring, left click on your iPad , then click on the Apps tab on top, and check the box next to Sync Apps, then click on Apply below.
If everything on your iPad looks good after the sync, go back and click on iTunes / Preferences / Devices and UN-check the box next to Prevent your iPod etc. The only other thing you may want to check is if your contacts, bookmarks, etc. are syncing correctly now. If not, go to the Info tab after connecting and make sure you indicate which features you want to sync with what sources.
You may need a third party app to transfer the music and pohtos back to the iTunes library. Remember that all purchased music, apps and TV shows can be downloaded again for free (in the U.S.)

  • Edit as new for msg with attachments sends original file contents, not new contents

I recently converted from Eudora 7 to TB 24.6 on Windows. TB seems to be working ok except for one issue.
I have a email with 5 files attached. Those files get updated occasionally and I need to resend them. With Eudora I would do a "send again" and the contents of the updated files would be attached and the email sent.
With TB I go to the sent folder and do edit as new. When I send the email it sends the contents of the old files not the updated contents. I have to remove all the attached files and then attach them again to get the new contents. This is very inconvenient.
Is there a way to do the same sort of "send again" that Eudora allowed?

No there is not. Eudora stored attachments in a folder and grabbed them when required. Thunderbird encodes them at the time they are attached so there is on disk file to update.
What you seriously need to consider is storing the files in one of the file services on the internet and using links to the files in your mail.
Google drive will automatically sync files with your PC and allow you to send links to the internet copies in your mails.

  • How to transfer my phone content to new itunes

i have already sync my i phone before with another laptop and purchased a new one and want to transfer all my content ((apps, contact, calender, tones, music, etc ..)) and sync my iphone with new laptop without looseing any data. how to do that?

Start by transferring your iTunes library from your other laptop to your new laptop per the instructions included with this link.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1751
For any photos transferred from the other laptop, you need to transfer the photos from the other laptop to your new laptop along with any other important data you will want or need to access on your new laptop.
Before syncing contacts and calendar events with a supported app on your new computer, enter one contact and calendar event in the supported app on your computer. This will provide a merge prompt with the first sync for this data, which you want to select. Or transfer the backup for the address book and calendar app on your other computer to your new computer for import by the supported app on your new computer.

  • How to i consolidate files on the new iTunes?

I can't seem to consolidate my files in my iTunes library after updating my iTunes, since all the tutorials on how to are outdated - even apples own.
Can anyone tell me how to?

The files that weren't inside the media folder on the original machine need to be copied over to exactly the same paths as they had on the source machine. See this thread for an ongoing discussion of a similar problem. See also this post on migrating the iTunes library.
