Missing File Folder

One of my file folders (and files contained in it) has disappeared when I use Windows Explorer.  I can't find it with the Windows search option.

What you want to do is click on the folder instead of the image.
In the left hand menu, click on the top most folder (left most if more than one) and you should get an option to reconnect or find missing folder.
Browse to the new location and select.
If you click on the top most, it will reconnect everything below it.
A number of us use only one top most folder for this reason; it helps when moving images around or something.
Cheers!

  • Missing file folder in LR2.7 -- how to locate

After a crashed and replaced hard drive, many catalogs no longer refer to a file or folder at its correct location.  Clicking on the "?" in the library modcule and then the "find missing folder or file", only leads me to the message that the file already exists.  How can I find it to re-establish the link?

  • OAS 10.1.3.2.0 WebCenter SRDemo_App Request Demo: missing file folder

    Hi,
I have installed the Oracle AS 10.1.3.2.0 WebCenter Framework and am trying to follow the SRDemo_App Demo from
Installing the Oracle WebCenter Suite Service Request Demo
    U:\WebCenter\SRDemo_App_Download\install\install.html
Here in this file, Section 1, Step 1, point 4, the documentation says:
    4. In the C:\srdemo\oc4j\srdemo_oc4j directory, read the README_PDK.txt for steps to install OC4J.
I have checked the downloaded file and do not see any file or directory for srdemo_oc4j nor for README_PDK.txt.
    Can somebody help me please?
    Thank you for your attention.

    Hi,
Actually it's niether.. This script is optional, you create it if you want to assign certain numbers for the ports and not to leave it to the defaults assigned by the installer. So you create it and tell the installer where to find it.
You can find the details here:
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B31017_01/linux.1013/install/reqs.htm#BABEEAAJ
This manual shows the usage and a sample file..
    Good luck..

  • Missing file sizes  in finder window

I can’t seem to find how to get OSX to display all file and folder sizes in the size column of my finder windows. I’ve tried using the show view options (command-J) and this seems to work for all except folders and Keynote files. Does anyone know how to fix this, especially for Keynote files?
    Mark

No, there is no checkbox labeled as such. If I choose the "calculate all sizes" checkbox, all of the values come up now. However, if I also choose the "all windows" checkbox, it seems as though this change only works for the current window since if I open up another folder on my drive, I'm back to square one with missing file/folder sizes. Any way to make this change universal throughout the system?

  • Spotlight missing files/folders/apps

Not sure why, but spotlight has started missing files/folder/apps from searches.
I have tried rebuilding the index using all the sudo commands, and third party apps like Onxy with no success. I have also deleted the .plist file- still with no luck.
Spotlight will find some folder/files within a directory, but not others in the same dir. App have started not showing up now too.
Any help or advice is appreciated as this is causing productivity problems at work now!

I read it, but there's nothing in the mdutil manpage about blowing away the entire Spotlight directory. That's why it leads the pack. Alternatively, boot with the install disc, select your language, select Terminal from the Utilities menu in the next window, and do this command:
*sudo rm -R /Volumes/"name of original boot volume"/.Spotlight-V100*
quit the Terminal app, and reinstall Snow Leopard. See if that fixes the issue.

  • Missing sidecar - remove missing file status

I have raw files that had metadata written to XMP sidecar files, the XMP are now missing, and I don't want to have LR create new sidecar files. The files show up as missing in the catalog. How can I get rid of the missing status and the little "metadata status warning" icons without having to write new sidecar files? If I can't that's pretty insidious and I would call it a bug.
    Thanks

Writing to xmp and then deleting the xmp is how I got to this stage. They show up in the Missing Files folder in the library tab of the library module. If I hover over the little question mark icon it says sidecar file is missing. If I click on the question mark it writes the metadata to xmp, even if "auto write changes to xmp" is unchecked in the catalog settings>metadata preferences.
But there's no way to delist them from missing files without creating a new xmp, as far as I can tell. You're basically stuck with "missing files" warning forever unless you create new xmps.
It's pretty annoying. I'd call it a bug. Essentially it's probably just a scenario that wasn't considered or accounted for in development. Creating missing file folder on demand - I like that.
Thanks for your input, let me know if you come up with anything

  • Import Catalog vs. Find Missing Files

I had my primary image storage hard drive fail.  I am switching to my full backup, however I have hundreds of folders containing 118,000+ files and want the best way to access them.
I can have the existing catalog Find Missing Files, and that preserves the History from teh Develop panel, but it seems that I can only find files within a subfolder, which means that I have to do that for every individual subfolder in the sack.
I can also Import Catalog, but my question is: Will that preserve the History from the Develop Panel or will it simply import the files, as edited, but without showing the step-by-step edits previosuly completed?
I imported a couple of individual subfolders (not the Import Catalog option) and the files came through with edits intact, but no History (History began with the new Import).
Any ideas?  Finding Missing Files folder by folder is a potential time suck of epic proportion, but I want to preserve my work history.
    Thanks,

LR5 on an iMac running 10.8.5

Thanks for the suggestions.  But here's more details...
The Find Missing Folders so far (I will see if I am missing someting) has not worked from the parent directory.  I will look again to see if I glossed over an important step.
As for the drive, it is a Drobo S 5-disk array.  The disk experienced a bad sector reorganization, which was successful (all partitions readable and writeable).  I prepared to swap out the newly-classified "bad" disk and install the new drive.  My major blunder was to accept the Drobo firmware update because IMMEDIATELY after doing to upon reboot the Drobo now showed that ALL OF MY DRIVES WERE NOT INSTALLED, not just the one empty bay waiting for the newer, bigger backup drive.
Needless to say, I'm out of the 90-day "we'll help you" period, but they are trying to get a one-time papel dispensation to allow me to receive assistance via e-mail.
So, for now, I ain't doing squat to the Drobo array until they come up with a way to access my data.  I would, however, like ot keep working, hence the need for a new catalog.

  • I have files in my iTunes media folder that somehow are not in my library. How do I get iTunes to scan my media folder and add missing files to my library without making a copy of each file in the same location?

I have files in my iTunes media folder that somehow are not in my library. How do I get iTunes to scan my media folder and add missing files to my library without making a copy of each file in the same location? If I use add file / folder to library, it scans the folder and then makes a copy of any file that is not in my library in the exact same location; I recal in older versions of iTunes being able to just drag my media folder into my library and it would update missing links.

Only the songs that are connected to iTunes will be copied when you consolidate to a new folder.
Splitting the media folder away from the usual location makes it harder to move iTunes in the future.
Are you go move everything back once you've tidied up or are you going to leave it that way? Either way I'd recommend you create an iTunes folder at the new location, an iTunes Media folder inside that, and consolidate to this new iTunes Media folder. You should also use the option File > LIbrary > Organize Library > Rearrange files in the folder "<Media Folder"> if you have not already done so.

  • Missing files after moving itunes music folder

i moved my itunes music folder to my external hard drive using the directions posted here: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=301748 to the letter. a lot of things transfered but now when i look in my itunes music folder and compare to my itunes library, i see that a lot of things are missing. i really don't want to have to go through every single artist folder and check every song. shouldn't consolidating my library have taken care of this?

I just had a very similar issue, I moved my iTunes library from a 120Gb Drive to a 500Gb and the library was a bit corrupted because the main drive was full b/c of an error, but that's besides the fact.
SOLUTION To missing files, that aren't really missing because they exist and were all copied no problems.
go to the iTunes folder in your Home folder, and move the iTunes Music Library.xml file to your desktop (with itunes closed of course)
Then re-open itunes and the library file that's not an xml doc, will re-search your files and all should be well.
You should be able to safely delete the xml doc now, because iTunes made a new one.

  • Missing Files After Deleting OS X System Folder from Disk

This is my first post; I'll try to be brief.
I got a new computer (G5 dual) and so wanted to "clean up" my G4 tower for my wife's use. I had three hard drives in the G4, one of which was an 80 GB drive with OS X (Tiger, I think) on it. Another drive had OS 9 on it.
I bought a 300 GB drive for the G4 and put Tiger on that drive. Then I moved OS 9 to the 80 GB drive. In the process, far as I can remember, I deleted only the OS X System Folder from the 80 GB drive (not any prominent folders that appear in "fancy" form on the left side of a Finder Window); so, one OS on each drive.
I deleted a number of files, and moved a number of files, in the process of doing my "clean up." Those files that I *moved* I can now find, no problem. But I left some files in the Movies folder (the "fancy" folder that is on the left side of a Finder Window in OS X) on the 80 GB, and those I now cannot find. My concern is that perhaps, in deleting the OS X System Folder from that drive I somehow either 1) also deleted the Movies Folder (inside the Home Folder inside the Users Folder) by the very act of deleting the System Folder (which seems unlikely to me) or 2) I managed to "hide" the Movies Folder by deleting the OS X System Folder.
I have far more available space on the 80 GB drive than I would expect to see, given the steps I had to take to get some files onto CDs, etc. (I needed all the space I could free up, as I recall). So, this suggests the missing files just might still be there. Spotlight can't see them; booting in OS 9 and using Sherlock doesn't reveal them....
Have I inadvertantly removed these files, or is there hope that they can be restored to life? A related question: If I did delete these files, is there a way to "un-delete" them at this stage?)
Many thanks for any thought anyone may have.

If you did actually delete your valuable files, you want to stop using that computer as soon as possible. You'd have a good chance to recover deleted files, unless they're already overwritten by other data.
Boot your G4 in Firewire Target Disk Mode (hold down "T" at startup) and connect it to your new G5 using a Firewire cable.
The drives inside the G4 will mount as removable media, so you can browse them and try to find your movies folder. It should be located at
    harddrive/user/username/movies.
You can use a utility like WhatSize to find large, (maybe hidden) files.
Post back, in case your data has disappeared and you need a file recovery tool.
    Good luck.

  • Release 4: File Folder icon missing in SQL Worksheet

The file folder icon is now missing in the SQL Worksheet. Using File->Open just opens the file in the editor. There is no way to run the SQL file. Clicking on Run in menu across the top causes the "The target bogus.sql cannot be started because it is not a runnable target." error message.
The help for "Using the SQL Worksheet" shows the file folder icon on the screen shot.
How does one open a SQL file and run it in Release 4?
    Mike

The File Open (or Open button on the main toolbar) works better in some respects - it opens in a SQL Worksheet (although not associated with a database connection), name s the tab with the filename, indicates a changed file by switching to italics in the tab name and requests confirmation on close if the file is modified.
However, the default directory is the <SQL Developer directory>/jdev and the file type defaults to all.
The Right-Click in SQL Worksheet opens the file from a default of C:\Documents and Settings\<username> (for me at least) with a file type of *.sql. The tab name is not renamed when opening the file (stays as the connection name) and there is no close confirmation if the file is modified.
The File Open makes it harder to lose stuff, but is a bit more work to use. As redoing lost work is more effort than switching file types and potentially more directory navigation on opening, I think the File Open option is better than the Right-click, but I would prefer something with the File Open functionality from within an existing SQL Worksheet.
