  • How can i view all the missing files in elements 12?

I have a very large catalog and there are now a few hundred files missing due to me moving or deleting them outside of elements.
Is there a way to display only the missing files in elements so i can work through them and decide to search for them manually or delete them from my catalog?
    thanks for any help

If you are in Elements Organizer12, go to Find > All Missing Files
It will show all the missing files present in your catalog.
    Thanks,

  • Help with missing files in Elements 3

I am not a computer wizard an dI am trying to catalogue my digital photos. I have almost 2,000 photos in Photoshop elements. All the photos are in the browser and I have created folders for each holiday, wedding, graduation etc. and copied photos into them. Suddenly a lot of the photos have a red rectangle on the bottom of them with a jagged line running diagonally across them which I have now learned means that there is a missing file. I have tried to reconnect the missing file following the help program but nothing happens except the 'torch' searching for the file. I can't do anything with these photos, I can't edit them or print them of copy them to a flash drive as back up. All these photos are precious and I can still see the image in teh browser. Have I lost them?

OK I consider myself severely reprimanded!
Sorry to appear dim but all I have ever done is:
    1 open photoshop elements
    2. take the card out of my camera
    3. put it into my computer.
    4. click 'get photos'
    5.save photos to my browser
    6. create new folders as previously described.
Photoshop Elements toolbar has the camera to 'get photos' so that's what I did, I didn't put them anywhere else first and then copy them into there.
The photos in my browser and the copies in my folders all have the 'missing file' icon so I can't drag the folder one back into the browser it just keeps saying 'missing file'. Plus some photos I haven't copied to folders also show the same icon. Can I say goodbye to my photos or are they there somewhere but I just can't find them? I haven't deleted anything.

  • I downloaded some videos to Premier Elements 13 from external hard drive but now the external hard drive is damaged. I tried to open the videos on the organizer which it shows the video but with a yellow ? and says missing file. Is there anyway I can open

I downloaded some videos to Premier Elements 13 from an external hard drive but now the external hard drive is damaged. While setting up my new MAC the external hard drive was dropped and I have been told by an outside source they could not retrieve the files.  It had 4 years of photos and videos on it. I remembered that I had downloaded some of the videos from the external hard drive (before it was broke) to Adobe Organizer 13 when I installed the Adobe 13 on my MACOS X 10.9.5.  I tried to open the videos on the organizer which it shows the video but with a yellow ? and says missing file. Is there anyway I can open these videos?
Any input is greatly appreciated!! I am sick over losing the videos and had a little hope on Adobe Organizer until I was unable to open them.  I am thinking it is due to my external hard drive not being plugged in. I thought when I transferred from the external hard drive to Adobe 13 that it would be there without the external hard drive needing to be attached but maybe I did something wrong.
    Thanks again for any help!!!!

It had 4 years of photos and videos on it.
To what did your camera record those photos and videos - camera's internal memory, inserted memory card, other?
Any remote chance that the latter may still exist for you to use to download the camera files to your new external hard drive?

  • Missing files in Photoshop Elements 8

I just upgraded from PSE 7 to PSE 8.  All photos in PSE 7 are viewable, crisp and clear (about 7000 photos going back to year 1999).  Each year I make new folders of the events for that year and keep them under my Photos folder on my "D" drive (have one HD partitioned into a "C" and "D" drives).   In 2010, I made folders for various events and titled them according.  Example are 2010 - Easter; 2010 - Hawaii, 2010 - Convention, etc.  All of the earlier photos (prior to 2010) for 2009 and earlier years "converted" without any apparent problems in PSE 8.  Several of the 2010 folders also converted without any problems, but the three most recent folders of photos show as blurry thumbnails in the PSE 8 Elements Organizer screen and when clicked on say "searching for the missing file".  The file cannot be found.
As far as I know there is no difference from the way these 3 folders of photos are titled and were imported into PSE 7, where they continue be viewable as sharp photos.  In other words, in PSE 7 there is no problem but in PSE 8 these three files of photos cannot "be found".
Anyone have any idea what the problem is and how to overcome it?  If not, then I guess it was a mistake to upgrade from PSE 7 to PSE 8 as PSE 7 is working perfectly.  Best bet is just remove PSE 8 until this problem is fixed???
    Running Windows Vista Ultimate.

Found the solution. I cloned the drive like you did and PSE became confused since there are now two drives with identical volumeid. It kept pointing to F: when I wanted to point to C:.    I cloned C: when I installed F:    so both F: and C: now has the same volumeid. Download volumeid from microsoft and verify that they are have the same volume id by typing vol C:    and then vol F: . After verifying that they both indeed have the same volumeid, type volumeid F: 1111-1111. Basically change the volume id of F: to 1111-1111. Reboot and PSE should now point all the files to C:

My Photoshop Elements does not start any more. It gives response "Photoshop elements cannot start or continue because of missing file(s). Please reinstall." How do I get the installing file again (I bought it from Adobe via internet the first time december 2013?)

Did you download the Basic/Free version?
I also thought the Trial period was as long as you needed!?
What is your Warranty and Return Policy?
You get to use VueScan for as long as you want before you buy it, so we recommend you test it before you buy it to make sure it meets your needs.
All sales are final and there are no refunds.
Isn't this a bit harsh? Naah I actually prefer to solve problems, and if I offer refunds, people give up too easily. If I can't solve your problem after you send a few Problem Reports (see above), I'm happy to give a refund.

  • Elements 5 on Vista will not open. Missing files

I have installed Photoshop elements 5.0 and the updater 5.02. Elements will not open and indicates several missing files. This is a brand new Windows vista HP machine. the missing files are "FAST CORE ROUTINES MODULE" , 'MMX CORE ROUTINES MODULE" , and "MULTIPROCESSOR SUPPORT" .  Any suggestions?  I uninstalled once and followed the Updater 5.02 instructions to be certain that I installed in a folder "Adobe Photoshop Elements 5.0'

Thank you Paige, You put me on the right track. I also found another much older message at this link...
    http://forums.adobe.com/message/1487633#1487633
I not only uninstalled, but followed the instructions for "deep cleaning" all remanents of Elements,  from folders, and even the registry. I had to change viewing files to viewing hidden files and all extensions, and deleted the Adobe Application Folder in Users\name   folder and  THAT along with your hint to install as Administrator did the trick.  The application folder deletion seemed to finalize the installation... I have not tested all components yet, but now at least I can begin testing!!!  Thank you for your response.

  • Can't retrieve project from early Photoshop Elements 5.0 as program is searching for Missing Files.  These were transferred from that computer and then lost HELP

When I bought my new laptop I transferred "My Pictures" onto a memory stick then onto the new laptop which are now lost.  I have a very important family holiday/wedding still on my old computer in Photoshop Elements 5.0.  The photos are there but when I open them I get a window where PE is "searching for missing file".  Is there any way I can save these photos please?

  • Photoshop elements 11and finding missing files

I had a problem with an account on my photoshop so had to open a new account on my imac. I had spent quite a bit of time editing my Alaska pictures and somehow now they wont let me move them to my new downloaded photoshop.  it says they are missing files and if I try to find them it will search forever and not find them.. is there another way to get them to my other photoshop or even if i could put them on my external hard drive.  that is where the problem started in my old account is when I bought that.  I kept getting the beach ball spinning and couldnt get it to stop so apple just suggested I open a new account.

I am sorry:  There was a word misprint that could be confusing.  Please ignore my previous post.  Here is the corrected version:
The Missing Files thing is very difficult.  I found a pretty easy way around it.
My newest photos are in a folder (windows folder) called 2013.  I have other folders, such as 1990s, 2000-5, etc. The trick is to make a new empty folder called Temp, in the same location as your other folders. For me, this temp folder, and those other folders, are located within a folder called Adobe, which is within another folder called "my pictures".  I import all new photos into this temp folder. Then I add them to the catalog by selecting File, and choosing search and finding the temp folder. Then I choose "get media" which seals the deal.
When you choose Get Media, the organizer only displays the new photos you've just added to the catolog. Once you see these new photos,  immediately add them to any albums within photoshop.  The next thing I do is move the photos to a folder where you really want them, say 2013 for example. This gets them out of the temp folder. YOU HAVE TO DO THIS WITHIN PHOTOSHOP ITSELF--IF YOU MOVE PICTURES THE TRADITIONAL WAY FROM FOLDER TO FOLDER, THIS CONFUSES THE ORGANIZER. On a windows version of photoshop, I highlight these photos within photoshop and choose file/move on the organizer menu and select the folder.  This moves all of the photos from the temp folder into the folder that you really want them to go into. You're done.
I've done this hundreds of times with no missing files problem until yesterday! A glitch happened, whereby I chose to delete the photos and selected the option to also delete them from the temp folder.  When I tried to back up elements, it warned me that there were missing files. Since they were originally in the temp folder, I knew where to look. The beauty of the temp folder is that if you ever get the "missing files" notification, it will be easy to find them. If you hadn't used a temp folder and instead had thrown the pics in a folder with a thousand other shots, it would be really tough to find them.
Since I knew the temp folder was involved in all this, here's how I found the "missing files": I used the "my folders" area of photoshop, which is directly under the albums and has a yellow icon. I clicked onto the arrow to the left of this folder, found the temp folder, and all of the missing pictures were suddenly seen in my organizer. However, I knew that the temp folder on my computer was empty. This was confusing to me. Why would the organizer think these photos were in the temp folder, when they were actually in my recycle bin?  I clicked on all of the photos that were supposedly in the temp folder, even though I knew they weren't there. Clicking highlighted the photos in blue. Then I right clicked and chose "delete from catalog". Problem solved. No more missing files.
All of this stuff took me 8 hours to figure out on my own.  I hope I save you some time.
