Missing file message

Hi
When I work in iweb, on occasion, I will get the following error message:
missing file cache 55
missing file cache 54
missing file 56
To include missing fonts...add them to fonts folder
To include missing images add them
To authorize this computer to play song...
I don't know exactly what this means I think all the fonts I used are okay, I took them from the font pull down menu on iweb, the photos are okay, and I am not using music. There is a "continue" button which I click and the message goes away. I just want to be sure I am not causing myself any problems later.

If the photos are in your catalog, do not delete them outsid of the Organizer -- highlight the photos in Organizer and use Edit...Remove from catalog and select the "Remove from hard drive" option if that is what you want.
If you have photos in Organizer that you already deleted, use the same technique to remove them from the catalog.

Missing File Messages / iWeb adding -1 to files names

I am trying to create a website using iWeb '09 but I am have an issue with missing file messages. I created the site without an issue. Opened it up the following day and immediately received missing file messages for almost all pages on the site. iWeb appends a -1 to valid file names ex: IMG_12345 -> iWeb message = missing file IMG_12345-1. I am also receiving the missing file messages with the template images which are not being used on the website (dragged and dropped my images over template images).
I tried to delete the pages then recreate them but that didn't work either. I also deleted the com.apple.iWeb.plist file (emptied trash) then restarted, held shift while rebooting, changed template to a different template then changed it back...nothing is working.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Another thing I noticed; I have two "domain.sites2" files, one in Users >> Folder >> Application Support >> iWeb and the other is in a personal directory. They are both modified today two hours apart. I just opened and closed iWeb and the file in the application support directory shows a modification not the one in the personal directory.
The first five or so times I opened iWeb I had to acknowledge the iWeb welcome screen before it wouldn't come back. It seems that my iWeb may be corrupted and have to be reinstalled?

Help with "Missing Files" message

My blog has been giving me an error message when I open it: "The following errors occurred when trying to open this document", "Missing file 'Pinstripewelcometile-15.jpg". It's one of the background pinstripe graphics for the "formal" theme that has an "x" and a question mark - it's used on all the entry pages. (http://web.me.com/mikejdunlap/Site/BLOG/Entries/2010/4/27ChocablockCookies.html) I've added new pages and republished, but the "number" of the missing graphic keeps changing every time I open iWeb: "welcomepinstripe15.jpg" etc - I think it started at "_9.jpg". I can't "replace" the file or add them again to my page - since it's a template graphic, rather than my own that I can choose in the media browser. How do I get iWeb to put this background image back in the entry pages? Thanks in advance for any help!

UPDATE: I restarted my computer and went through the exact same process outlined above and now it looks like it resolved itself; the error message no longer appears after I turn sync back on. I believe everything is working correctly now. Basically, it looks like the solution is to completely reboot your computer.

Searching for Missing File Message

When I click on a picture in Organizer getting a message "searching for missing file". The picture opens ok, but then get the preceding message which eventually goes away.
Any suggestions as to why this is happening.

It means you moved or renamed the file outside of PSE (e.g. with Windows Explorer). PSE is searching your folders for the new location, and it sounds like it is finding it. It is much better to only move photos and folders containing photos within PSE.

"missing file" message in PSE9

All my pics in the PSE9 Organizer timeline say "missing file" and cannot be found when trying to open for editing. Have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but organizer timeline pics remain.

It's simplest to start a new catalog from Organizer.
PSE9 à Catalog à New
Give it a new name e.g. My Catalog2
Check the box for free music (they are mp3/wav snippets for slideshows - but Windows only) then click OK
When the blank catalog opens use File à Get Photos & Videos à From Files & Folders
Navigate to your pictures and press Cmd+A (to select all) or Cmd+Click on the individual folders you want imported. Then hit open or Get Media.

Continuously Shows a Missing file Message in PC Su...

In XP & Windows7 shows a file missing problem in PC suite with Nokia 3500 Classic ? How can I solve it ?
If any nokia online software updating sufficient for the Model ? And also not activate Bluetooth section when it turns On.
Please advice me Nokia customer care concerned person relate with this matter....

Missing file messages on a trial AE download

I downloaded the free version of After Effects and I don't have any other Adobe programs. When I tried to open up a AE project from VideoHive, it gave me these messages.
1) this project must be converted from 9.0.3 (windows) ....
2) the following text layers are missing:
Text layer font 1
Text layer font 2
3) After effects warning: 17 files are missing after you last saved this project.
Can anyone tell me why this is happening?
This project was listed as only needing After Effects, do I need more software or what?

The project was originally created in AE CS4, you do not have the fonts on your system that it uses and you did not download the footage files it needs or placed them in a different location. Everything perfectly normal within how AE is supposed to work under such conditions. Since you pretty obviously know literally nothing about this stuff (no offense), I strongly suggest to start here:

Missing Files Message - No Missing Files

I get a message when opening projects that says files are missing. It lists the files like "Macintosh HD:" - like it's a whole drive or something. Just trashed prefs and repaired disc permissions.

If those are the only files, and you are not missing them you can (in that same warning-window) choose to 'FORGET' these files.
If you are uncertain about this then FIRST close FCP. Make a copy of the project file. pen that and try the FORGET button and see if something gets missing...
(Probably not). If that works, then replicate the actions with your original project.

FCE is giving me a missing file message and switching my source files.

My wife has been editing our vacation footage for about a week using FCE 4.01. She editing on a mac mini running Mac OS 10.5 and using an external HD via firewire as the scratch drive. So far she hasn't had any problems with the software, but last night when she opened her project file she got a file missing message and a bunch of the files were listed offline and couldn't be linked to the project. I looked around and read that a bunch of other people were having similar problems, but this seems a little bit different for a few reasons.
First, every time we open the project file the number of missing links is different. Sometimes it's around 70, sometimes around 40 and sometimes around 60 (there are a total of about 245 clips). The other odd thing is that all the files seem to still be in place, but when I tried to reconnect them I got another message saying the attributes of the file didn't match the original (specifically the length of the clips). It seems that FCE has randomly changed (or maybe swapped) some of my source video files so that the file named "clip 50.mov" is actually the footage from "clip 97.mov." Unfortunately with 245 clips, and none of them titled (she was going in chronological order) it's impossible to know exactly what got moved and to where.
Has anyone else seen this issue and if so have you found a way to prevent or recover from it? This (and other similar problems of files mysteriously gone missing) seems like a HUGE software breaking bug. Luckily my wife had already rendered and exported the section she was working on so there wasn't much actual work lost, but now we'll have to reimport all the original files again so she can continue on with the next parts.

I'm not sure. I'm not at home right now and can't check, but I have two of the exact same external drives and I've never had an issue with files missing or being altered on them. I run all of my iTunes music and Photoshop files off of those two drives which is why I assume the issue is with FCE.

"project file missing" error message

I've got 2-3 hours worth of footage from a vacation i took and it would be a real pain to to reimport and re-edit everything.. so i really hope you can help me.
whenever i try to open the movie file, iMovie gives me an error message saying "a project file is missing" "The file "_" couldn't be opened and is being skipped. Click "Ignore All" to skip any remaining missing file messages."
Then it gives me two options - Ignore All and Ok.
the weird thing is it doesnt specify a file. it just calls the file "_"
i've got some music files in it i may have moved around, but besides the fact the movie is on an external hard drive, i cant think of any other reason it would do that.
please help!

As Jeez33 suggested, the file name iMovie is asking about can't be relied on. Something has caused iMovie to either store the name incorrectly in the project file or retrieve the name incorrectly from the project file. The file it's asking about probably doesn't exist and probably never did. The usual cause for this problem is the wrong disk format for the project's disk. (Not the main disk.) So it's garbage in, garbage out.
Another possible cause is that either the project disk or the Mac's own main disk is too full. That can cause disk errors. I mention that because both your disks are quite small. As iMovie works with large video files, a tremendous amount of disk space may be required. So make sure you have plenty. 10 GB free.
You also might try looking inside the Media folder of the project to see what you can see. To look inside the project package, Control-click on the project icon and choose "Show Package Contents" from the popUp menu. Then look inside the Media folder. That will tell you what files are there. Look for any unusual characters in the file names, especially "/", which can confuse iMovie.
It's possible too that the project file has been damaged. The project file is loose inside the package. Its name is "Your Project Name.iMovieProj". When you double-click on the project icon, that's the file that opens.
There's a second project file named "Your Project Name.~iMovieProj". (Note the tilde.) That's a kind of project backup, the PREVIOUSLY-saved version of your project. Try double-clicking on that. If it opens the project successfully, quit iMovie, remove the tilde from the name, and let it be your project file. When you next save, iMovie will create a new tilde file.
Your Mac's hard disk or the external disk may also need some disk repair. Use Disk Utility to verify and repair the external drive. If the drive directory is flawed that can make it impossible for iMovie to read/write to files on the drive, including to its own project file.

ITunes Missing Files

Okay, when I open iTunes (11.0.2.26 Windows 7) and try to play songs in the library, I get the "missing files" message, with option to locate. I choose to locate, and it cannot find the song file. However, when I go to the library location (only iTunes Library on this machine) I am able to find the song file, and even open it using iTunes. Even after doing so, iTunes will not allow me to open the song from within the program, nor locate the song file.
Is anyone else experiencing this problem ? Any help is much appreciated.

For all of you, who gets "missing file" error on syncing theirs photos

I dont really knows any better way of correcting this error when deleting "iPod photo cache" -file doesn't help, but here is my answer to that. If somebody knows a better solution, plase tell it to all of us.
I was getting an "unknown errorcode -39" and that "missing file" messages every time i try to sync my photos from my Windows 7 based computer to the iPad. It seems to me that there are something wrong on the iPed side but how to corrrect it (and i dont know anything on how apple works)?
Just as i was gioing to give up, i realize that there must be two caches in sync, one for sender (for itunes) and one for a receiver (for example iPade) side. Both must be in sync whith themselfs and in a filesystem on their side. Easy part is on iTunes side, just delete the cache (thats because its contents can and will be recreated using the local filesystem information only).
The other side (iPhone or iPad) is much more harder to do as there are not (or i dont have found it) any simple solution to do it. There are only one solution which i have found to be solve this problem (every time) and it is that you have to get a sync target to think that it is being sync on a different iTunes photo library (even when its empty). If this works, then you get a iTunes message saying that "are you sure?, as if you continue ALL FILES ARE DELETED when your are resynced on different photolibrary". That is just what we wanted. For myself it has worked every time, but it takes time, as you must resync it twice (once in an alien or differentt, and back to the original or updated photolibrary).
Those who knows better, comments please?

The little saga above about the additional _HL_LB image completely forgot to mention that there is a very nasty scaling issue awaiting the ignorant (like me).
It doesn't scale the letterbox image automatically.
SO, it's a case of as usual, preparing all Widescreen assets in anamorphic mode (create & design in PS using PAR correction, reshape image to Square Pixels)
Duplicate the _HL for the _HL_LB image.
Now, because of the rescaling issue, take this into PS, and resize the image to 720x360, then resize the
i canvas
to 720x480, making certain your background is white, as failure to do this will mean the Letterboxed SPHL are incorrectly scaled, although the button hotspots are in the right place.
Aargh - if it was not for the "Phone A Friend" option, I would still be stuck on this.

Compressor 4.1 ! Missing File

Hi all. So I have a project finished in FCPX - I have no errors or missing file messages. When I send it to Compressor, the opening logo and ending logo show up but the entire video between them is not. I am getting the ! Missing File red screen.
I have tried uninstalling Compressor 4.1 using AppCleaner and re-installing. Same result.
Any ideas??

I think I've figured it out. When I imported, I kept the original clip on an external hard drive and had FCPX import and create a proxy but not copy the original media.
When I go to export, Compressor is looking for the original media which I didn't have connected. Connected it and everything looks great.
That was my mistake but it would help if FCPX warned me like 10.0 versions did that linked files are missing. At least I don't see any warnings.

Missing File error when trying to install HP 5610xi using Windows 7 64 bit download

I have tried several times to download and install the software and drivers for my old 5610xi on my new computer running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit OS. I keep getting a "missing file" message when trying to run the download, and it will not install. Can someone please help!?!?
