Missing files - any way to save pics another way?

I've read through some of the other posts, but I haven't seen this addressed:
My camera automatically uploads pics to the Album Starter 3.2. I then let the program delete the pics from my camera. Then I got motiviated and cleaned up all my saved pics, moved them to folders, etc and deleted then reformated my media card.
Now, I can see 12 pics in the Album Starter, but they have the ripped red icon on the bottom. I tried using Recuva to search on my camera and computer - no luck.
Ok - so...because I can see them in the program - is there ANY way to copy the pic, or do something to get them out of the program? I'm afraid to close the Album Starter for fear that they'll then be gone forever! I've tried to save as, copy, etc...no luck. All I get is the "searching for missing file..".

Ok I have been thinking about the downloading of my photos from my camera to my PC, you may have already found what I've found but here is what I've found:
When PS Album Starter Photo Downloader page comes up in the top right hand corner, Box 1, it already has the name of the device from which you are downloading your photos and the USB drive from which they are being obtained.
Below in Box 2 "Save Files: Location" it states the same location as the one you're downloading from, that is the USB you've plugged your camera into, so you are saving your photos back onto your camera. You need to change the save location to your C drive or USB memory stick.
The pictures you think have been deleted have been saved back onto your camera even though you deleted them when prompted!!
This is what I've found with my 'lost' photos and have, this morning managed to download them, again, from my camera.
Give this a go, I hope it works for you as it did for me.

Back up LCP & DNG Files -any reason to save jpgs?

Dear Lens Profile creators and users,
I am backing up my lcp lens profile files, my DNG image files of my targets that I shot for each file, and the folders which I downloaded from Adobe with the application, documentation, target files, etc.
Is there a reason that I should also back up my jpg versions of my DNG files? Is there any possibility in the future that I would need these jpgs for other needs in the Lens Profile creator tool software?

Thank you Simon, I had not even considered the possibility that I could want to fall back to jpg processing in the future and if so, would need those jpgs to process lens profiles for jpgs(as opposed to my raw profiles that I have already developed). I will also put the jpgs on dvd for saving,

I was wondering whether it had anything to do with the network I was using. The router I am using can't access the internet and I am using the basic 192.168.1.X setup with 255.255.255.0 as the mask.
My computer has an ip of 192.168.1.2 and the xbox has an ip of 192.168.1.3. However, I am still unable to ping the xbox or even see it show up in the network. I did notice that whenever I am using another router that is connected to the internet, I can see other windows based computers in the network tab in thunar under "windows network"
Also, I do have a username and password associated with the samba setup.. so I assume maybe that has something do with it. I checked the permissions of the share folder and it was root:root with read and write permissions. I know samba is working fairly well.. but for whatever reason I can't get the xbox to connect even while it is on the same local network.

Missing File Popup

Am using Elements 9. In Organiser I frequently get a popup with "searching for missing files" It then starts searching through all the files on my harddrive. What is this and how do I get rid of it.?

It was bought for my son and he never registered it.
I still don't understand why Neema was trying to reinstall it when she didn't have the serial number but after she uninstalled it, said she couldn't reinstall it because I didn't have the serial number. I never had it yet she didn't have a problem with trying to install it originally.
Still won't buy another Adobe product again. I've talked to a lot of people who can't stand Adobe and I now know why. I can't even update Flash without my whole system crashing or getting a virus.
I won't re-purchase InDesign either. I realize it should have been registered and I explained that my email had been hacked and my proof of purchase was deleted with ALL of my emails and I also had a major virus after updating Flash.
I can't afford to buy the same product twice.
I will find out what other formats my book distributor (Ingram Books) accepts and purchase that program.
Not impressed with Adobe and will share my experience with others so they can be sure to register their product and make a copy of the program BEFORE allowing an Adobe employee to take control of their computers.
If you knew the answer to my question, customer support should have too.

Wow, have seen Files do that, but a whole Folder as I recall!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Select your Mac OS X volume.
5. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

IMovie '08 freezes up...any way to save backup working files?

I'm really frustrated at losing projects and having to spend countless hours rebuilding them. On two separate occasions, iMovie has gotten "stuck" on launch and only shows partial screens and is inoperable. I found a thread where several other people were having this problem also. The remedy for me was removing my projects from the projects folder and then it will launch and operate fine, make new projects and functions normally. However, the original project somehow got corrupted, and when moved back into the projects folder, it freezes up iMovie. All previously uploaded/imported raw events are still available and fine, once I remove the culprit projects.
I have installed all updates for iMovie, iLife '08, and iSupport. I also have removed several strategic preferences and cache files from the library, to no avail. One user reported success at making a new user account, logging in to that account, and copying the iMovie application to the shared folder, then logging back into the primary account and replacing the application. Didn't work for me.
I am wondering if there is any way to save the project files like the older version iMovie HD? That way, I could save a back up copy of the working file somewhere and hopefully be able to use it, in the event that my project becomes corrupt. The project files don't have any extension. In iDVD, you are able to save a project in progress (to any location) and reopen it any time to make edits. In iMovie '08 there is no option to "open" an existing project, only start a new one. This seems very strange to me.
I'm about to give up on iMovie '08, I see that many people are experiencing bugs and I'm tired of having to spend countless hours redoing work.
Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestions. I tried them unsuccessfully. No worries, I've resigned to the fact that iMovie '08 is a POS, learned from doing some research, talking with tech support, and reading many other discussions. Why else would they offer a special iMovie 06 HD version for Leopard. Besides, much of the past functionality is now gone.
I've downloaded and will use the HD version until I purchase Final Cut. Users beware, iMovie 08 is sketchy.

If you enter any field information, the modified document cannot be saved with Adobe Reader. It does not have the necessary usage rights applied. You can save with a different PDF viewer that supports forms, such as Acrobat or Foxit Reader.

Is there any way to retrieve pics out of 3.2? Main files deleted!

Recently I decided to back up all pics to CD. This went fine until I got to older pics I had stored in PSE 3.2. A few months ago I remember cleaning up and organizing pic files and didn't realize that the files in "My Pictures" /Adobe/ Digital images were the main file for the images in PSE.
The thumbnails I have have a torn red icon at the bottom- I get a message "Missing File"- Properties shows a file on C drive but file search can't find
the file. I've read a number of posts and only one seemed to answer this question TOO BAD FOR YOU but I hope this isn't true!
Bottom line, I deleted the main files thinking that IF THE PICS WERE IN PSE THEN THEY WERE IN PSE not somewhere else!
IS IT POSSIBLE TO GET THOSE PICS BACK IF THE "FILE" WAS DELETED? OR TO BUILD A NEW FILE FROM THE 'FILE PATH' (Thumbnail)?

PDF files used to open with a "save" option, and I have Acrobat 9 Pro installed on my system (running Windows 7). Now, that icon is gone and I can't save. Is there another way to configure the plug-in or is Firefox preventing this or what? THANK YOU.

this is a new problem. Running Windows 7, latest update of Firefox 3.6.13. Under "Applications", I'm set to "open Adobe Acrobat inside Firefox" (which is what I have always done, then if I wanted to, I saved the PDF file elsewhere). should I/ can I open the PDFs outside Firefox, with my Adobe 9 Pro program?

Firefox is of course a web browser. <br>Acrobat reader is Adobe's program used to read and display the pfd files on your computer. Other programs may be used instead of Acrobat reader. You would normally have the Acrobat program and the pdf file present on the local computer, often both on the same hard drive, if you were opening individual pdf files directly with Acrobat.
Firefox uses a plugin so that it may use Acrobat to open pdf files and display the results within a firefox window or tab. If you do not have that plugin installed, or it is not enabled firefox may be unsure what to do with the file and offer to save it to whatever your default local download location is, without attempting to open the file in firefox.

I miss File Save

Hopefully I'm just doing something wrong, but I really miss the File Save feature. Here's a typical scenario.
Open a project, make a bunch of edits, then decide that these edits are not taking me in a good direction so I would like to abandon them. HOW? Do I really have do cmd Z my way back to the beginning? That seems rather odd.
Perhaps there's a way I can use the multiple version feature of Lion? It's certainly not clear how that works with FCPX

I have to think the next update will bring support for Lion's versioning functionality, which is exactly what you are looking for. Right now it isn't enabled.
In the meantime, you either need to manually make duplicates, or use Time Machine to take hourly snapshots.
Another option to keep in mind (and this is what I do frequently) is the auditions feature. Create a compound clip of the section you are going to make a bunch of edits to (I suppose you could also do this for the entire project as well). Then select the compound clip and "duplicate as new audition" (option-y). You can now open that compound clip in the timeline and make your edits. At any time you can switch back to how things were prior to these edits. Also at any time you can make another audition, so you can maintain your own "versioning" history.

I photo pics are in album, but need to upload from add item page on etsy. Cannot find where the pics are in my computer. I did put a name on each one. What is the best way to save an individual pic to be able to find it on the computer so as to upload?

When it is time to upload the pic or pics, I cannot find them,eventhough each has a name and all are in an i photo album. On my old computer I would "save as" and then could find it easily in my computer. In the new mac I just got, I cannot easily find the pic when trying to upload. The following is from a post by Terence Devlin on accessing photos for use outside of iPhoto. It's the definitive treatise on the subject.
There are many, many ways to access your files in iPhoto:
You can use any Open / Attach / Browse dialogue. On the left there's a Media heading, your pics can be accessed there. Command-Click for selecting multiple pics.
(Note the above illustration is not a Finder Window. It's the dialogue you get when you go File -> Open)
You can access the Library from the New Message Window in Mail:
There's a similar option in Outlook and many, many other apps.
If you use Apple's Mail, Entourage, AOL or Eudora you can email from within iPhoto.
If you use a Cocoa-based Browser such as Safari, you can drag the pics from the iPhoto Window to the Attach window in the browser.

You can download a free Services component from MacOSXAutomation which will give you access to the iPhoto Library from your Services Menu. Using the Services Preference Pane you can even create a keyboard shortcut for it.

Create a Media Browser using Automator (takes about 10 seconds) or use this free utility Karelia iMedia Browser
Other options include:
1. Drag and Drop: Drag a photo from the iPhoto Window to the desktop, there iPhoto will make a full-sized copy of the pic.
2. File -> Export: Select the files in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Export. The dialogue will give you various options, including altering the format, naming the files and changing the size. Again, producing a copy.
3.Show File:
a. On iPhoto 09 and earlier: Right- (or Control-) Click on a pic and in the resulting dialogue choose 'Show File'. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.
b. On iPhoto 11 and later: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original. A Finder window will pop open with the file already selected.

Is there any way to save an image from a nested movieclip as a .png using PNGEncoder

Hello all,
I am new to AIR and AS3 and I am developing a small AIR desktop application in Flash CS5 that saves a user generated image locally to their computer.
The image is generated from a series of user choices based on .png files that are loaded dynamically into a series of nested movieclips via XML. The final image is constructed by a series of these "user choices".
Sourcing alot of code examples from here and there, I have managed to build a "working" example of the application. I am able to "draw" the parent movieclip to which all the other dynamic movieclips reside and can then encode it using PNGEncoder. The problem is that the images loaded dynamically into the nested movieclips show as blank in the final .png generated by the user.
Is there a way to "draw" and encode these nested movieclips or do I need to find another way? I can provide my clumsy code if required but would like to know if this concept is viable before moving any further.....

Yeah I'm doing it in Flash but importing the images via an xml document. The problem isn't in being able to view the eyes (based on the selection of the user) its when I go to save the resulting image as a .png. When I open up the saved .png the eyes are blank even though they are visible in the swf
Even when the user clicks on the option to copy the image to the clipboard, it works as intended.
My only guess is there is an issue with the way my xml is loading (but this appears to work fine) or when the file is converted and saved.....
As I said I'm still learning but surely there must be a simple answer to this....

The final image is copied to the clipboard with the eyes visible - yes
The eyes appear in the image in the swf as intended - yes
When the image is saved as a .png and is meant to include the eyes, they are blank (see picture above)
