Missing files in Adobe application support CS5.1

Why do I get this error message when I start CS5?
One or more files in the Adobe Application Support folder, necessary for running Photoshop, are missing.  Please run the Photoshop installer and re-install Photoshop.
New install on new iMac and worked fine until I uninstalled CS4 using uninstall app. Reinstalled CS5 but still happens. Any help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately, the Adobe uninstallers have a habit of messing with newer versions, as often there's no way to distinguish old application support files from new ones.
Ideally, you should uninstall older versions first if you don't want them on your computer, then install the new version.  I have Photoshop 7.0.1 through 11.0.2 happily coexisting on my machine.  I can even run two versions of Photoshop simultaneously, just by launching the older version first.

  • Error 'one or more files from adobe applications support folder are missing' PS CC 2014 running on OSX

Please help. I have just installed OSX to be able to upgrade my Adobe CC to 2014. Now each time I try to use PS CC 2014 or PS CS5, it crashes.
I tried to uninstall CS3, thinking lightening the load would help. Now I keep getting this message each time I try to open PS CS5 or PS CC 2014. What could be my problem? Thank you for any help.

You said there was an error (indicating missing files and that you need to reinstall), then you say it crashes.  Well, which is it?  And if there is a crash, what does the detailed crash report say?

  • Do I need to worry about Adobe Application Support Folder?

Running Photoshop CS5 standard on Mac (snow leopard) on top of Photoshop CS4.  Ran into some problems with Adobe Bridge and thinking there might be a conflict between the two Photoshop versions I uninstalled Photoshop CS4 (apparently not smart).  Now on launching Photoshop CS5 a window appears with warning something like: missing files in Adobe Application Support Folder, use Photoshop installer to re-install PhotoshopCS5. Tech support tells me to deactivate Photoshop CS5 then uninstall it and reinstall from the Web where I downloaded it in the first place.
Questions:  Should I care about this at all?  How about reinstalling Photoshop CS4 (I have the disc)?  Can I just download the Adobe Application Support Folder?
I undated CS5 just now but it didn't fix the "problem".

That is very sound advice.  Do it.

Yes, unless you don't want to run any Adobe applications any more.

It probably won't even let you install CS4 over CS5.  You would have to uninstall CS5 first.

Nope; there's nowhere you could "download it" from.
Just follow the advice of Tech Support.

When I start up my Photoshop CS5.1 on my Mac I get an Adobe Photoshop Screen that says "One or more files in the Adobe application Support folder, necessary for running Photoshop, are missing.  Please run the Photoshop installer and re-install Photoshop."
I have done the reinstall but I still get this message.
    Thoughts?

  • Files missing from Adobe Applications support folder

I now receive this message when starting Photoshop CC:  One or more files in the Adobe Applications Support folder, necessary for running Photoshop, are missing.  Please run the Photoshop installer and re-install Photoshop.  After looking through some older posts on this, it looks like there is a way to just replace the missing folder.  I need help on what is the most current and best way to fix this problem.  I am running an iMac with OS X 10.8.5.  I did just uninstall CS4 from my machine this morning.  I am not sure if this plays a roll.

  • One or more files in the Adobe Application Support folder...

Upon opening Photoshop CS5 I have the following message displayed on the screen. I have uninstalled and re-installed Photoshop but it did not make a difference., the message keeps showing up. It is getting annoying and I have no idea which files are missing. Anyone know how to fix this? I am copying the message here:
One or more files in the Adobe Application Support folder, necessary for running Photoshop, are missing.  Please run the Photoshop installer and re-install Photoshop.

It's not a systemic problem, no.  Photoshop CS5 can certainly run without an error message.
Was it working without the error message on your system at one time?
Have you made any changes to the files supplied as part of Photoshop?
An uninstall (possibly via the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool) followed by a reinstall will probably get you working again.

That one's consistent with disk/file damage. The first thing I'd try with that is running a disk check (chkdsk) over your C drive.
XP instructions in the following document: How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP
Select both Automatically fix file system errors and Scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors, or use chkdsk /r (depending on which way you decide to go about doing this). You'll almost certainly have to schedule the chkdsk to run on startup. The scan should take quite a while ... if it quits after a few minutes or seconds, something's interfering with the scan.
Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, can you get an install to go through properly afterwards?

  • Missing Adobe Application Support can't open...

I have Mac G4, running PS CS2 v9.0.2. I've just installed OS 10.4.11, now when I dbl. clk. a ps file it won't open and I get a message saying, "One or more files in Adobe App. Support folder are missing Please reinstall PS.
I found the topic in the forum and neither solution works for me.
Are there any other ways around this?
    Thanks for any help.

    Claude,
If you can open the files directly via the open file dialog box, then
the problem most likely is a file association problem. If you cannot
open the file directly, then you probably need to re-install. For the
most part postscript files should not be opened in Photoshop.

  • Missing Pages file in /Library/ Application Support

Hello, I want to import new templates into Pages but (unlike my Keynote app), there is no sign of a Pages system folder either in /Library/ Application Support/ or via a search in Spotlight. Where is this likely to be - the software works so it must be nested somewhere?
    Stuart

    Hello Pixelpics,
if there are no folders "<YourHD>/Users/<YourAccount>/Library/Application Support/iWork/Pages/Templates", create them. And in "Templates" you have to create folders not only for organisation purposes. If you copy templates directly into "Templates", Pages won't find the copied templates.
Make sure you are working with the newest versions (Pages 1.0.2, Keynote 2.0.2).
    Frank.

  • Adobe Application Manager CS5 downloads but does not install Spanish update on Windows 8.1 64 bit Spanish

I have a multi license for Adobe Creative Suite Design Premium CS5 in Spanish. I installed it correctly in Windows 8.1 Spanish 64 bit. Photoshop 32 and 64 bit start, same with Illustrator with some fix. Yet when I look for updates, 10 are found by Adobe Application Manager, but for a few days I get a message (in Spanish) that "there was an error while downloading, try again later". I do it for some days already without success. I have the same Spanish suite installed on Windows 7 64 bit (English) for some good time (2 years probably), and there the now no updates.
The PDapp.exe file is from the year 2010. Is it not too old as for Adobe?
    Kind regards

  • I tried to download the latest upgrade and got the following: "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193).  Program Files/Common Files/Apple/Apple Application Support\ApplePushService.dll

I tried to download the latest upgrade and I got a message telling me "The application or DLL ProgramFiles/CommonFiles/Apple/Applie Application Support\ApplePushService.dll is not a valid Windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." and then below that another message "iTunes was no installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 193).  I tried reinstalling and it still will not work.

Taken at face value, you're having trouble with an Apple Application Support program file there. (Apple Application Support is where single copies of program files used by multiple different Apple programs are kept.)
Let's try something relatively simple first. Restart the PC. If you're using Vista or 7,now head into your Uninstall a program control panel, select "Apple Application Support" and then click "Repair". If you're using XP,head into your Add or Remove Programs control panel, select "Apple Application Support", click "Change" and then click "Repair".
If no joy after that, try the more rigorous uninstall/reinstall procedure from the following post. (If you've got XP, although the procedure is for Vista and 7, just read "Computer" as "My Computer", read "Uninstall a program control panel" as "Add or Remove programs control panel" and assume the system is 32-bit, and you'll be doing the right things.)
Re: I recently updated to vista service pack 2 and I updated to itunes 10.2.1 and ever

  • Can you transfer files in Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 from a Mac computer to a PC that also has Adobe

I am looking into buying Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 for my iMac computer, because the guy that I am going to help out is in another state, using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5 on his PC, we will both be editing video to be featured on the Pursuit channel.  My question is will we be able to open up each other's video files, seeing that I am on a iMac and he is on a PC if we are both using Adobe Premiere Pro CS5?  Right now I am using Final Cut Pro X, and he can't read my files, the codecs won't work he says.   Please help this is driving me crazy

Yes, project files are cross-platform. There are a few caveats, described here:
