Missing files in "list copy" command once controlfile restored

Hi,
Performing restore/recover exercises (11gR2 on ASM), I did the following:
1/ the DB running, "list copy" in RMAN (to retrieve a list of my backups),
2/ then did a shutdown abort, went to AMSCMD and removed all datafiles/ctlfile/spfile manually
(wanted to test a full restore with nothing left but archives and backups),
3/ managed to restore my spfile with "restore spfile from '+DATA...",
4/ then could "startup mount" my DB, and restore controlfile with
"restore controlfile from '+FRA/DBNAME/BACKUPSET/2014_01_29/ncnnn...';"
5/ then I did "list copy" again
and here I saw 3 files were missing (so I started encountering plenty of issues
to be able to further restore/recover...)
Anybody ever met that problem before ??

Hi,
When you restored a controlfile from backup,it will list only copies or backup which were registered with this controlfeil,if you would like to catalog the backups in restored controlfile,you can use catalog command.

Missing Files During Network Copy?

I have recently copied data files (mostly pdf) from my windows machine to my iMac via my network when I got my new computer.
Tonight, I noticed some files that I viewed the other day on my Mac were mysteriously gone?
Being that, I verified that my old machine still had the original files that were supposedly missing. So, to ensure that I had all my files I zipped the original folder on my old computer and copied back to the Mac to a new directory. When I unzipped on the iMac, the files in question are missing again in the new directory.
What am I doing wrong? I am concerned because I have quite a bit of data that I switched over and I'm not really sure what might be missing.
Any ideas are appreciated.

It appears that if you try to copy directly from My Documents on the Mac, certain files are not copied.
Why some files are copied and other are not I have no clue but I simply logged into my windows machine and copied directly to my Mac and that seemed to work.

Batch File: Read List - Execute Command

I'm trying to figure out how to make a batch file that will run an exe on each file in a directory, but one at a time.
Detailed scenario:
I have a directory with many flv files.
I need the batch file to take the first file and run an exe that allows me to see the xml information in the file and then export that to a text file.
The batch file needs to be a loop so that once it finishes with the first file, it will move to the next file and perform the same task, and then continue doing that until it reaches the end of the list. I can't figure it out, and I'm not sure that it can be
done.
If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

Finding a missing file after failed copy attempt

Tried to copy a folder in my external Hard Disc but it was cancelled when there was a pop up window saying there is a folder with the same name in the the drive I was copying the files into. Now the folder I tried to copy is MIA

System recovery missing files

I got a HP 2000 notebook PC build 9600. I just got this note book from my friend and the first thing i wanted to do was do a system restore to bring it back to factory settings so I looked up a video and found out how to do that so when i whent to go do that the notebook told me that it had missing files so i couldnt do a system restore i asked my friend if they had any cd's that the notebook most have came with but they didnt so i have been looking online how to fix my problem so i can do a system restore .

Collections Missing Files - Is there a way to fix them all at once?

Hello,
Due to new computer, all files has been moved to a new location.
Obviously, the collections I have can't find them now and reporting "Missing Files".
Now, I need to fix them by finding them folder by folder, and since the collections contains items from many folders, It will take hours to fix them all so I wondered if there is a way to tell Bridge about the new location of the files all at once.
I hope I managed to explain what I'm looking for.

Which OS? If on Windows you can find your Bridge collections list at (win 7 bridge cs6 example):
C:\Users\user-name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Bridge CS6\Collections
The files in Collections folder are .filelist - text xml format. You could copy filelists from the old system's Collections folder to the Bridge AppData Collections folder in your new system so long as all the referenced files listed in the collection filelists are in the same disks and folders on your new system.

I had saved one copy as an .asp but then resaved it to .xhtml
I'm assuming this is a static web site. Rename (F2) all your pages with .html or .htm extension.
.xhtml is not a valid extension.

If I use add file / folder to library, it scans the folder and then makes a copy of any file that is not in my library in the exact same location; I recal in older versions of iTunes being able to just drag my media folder into my library and it would update missing links.

Only the songs that are connected to iTunes will be copied when you consolidate to a new folder.
Splitting the media folder away from the usual location makes it harder to move iTunes in the future.
Are you go move everything back once you've tidied up or are you going to leave it that way? Either way I'd recommend you create an iTunes folder at the new location, an iTunes Media folder inside that, and consolidate to this new iTunes Media folder. You should also use the option File > LIbrary > Organize Library > Rearrange files in the folder "<Media Folder"> if you have not already done so.

How do I get list of 'ALL' Missing files?

How do I get a list of all missing files? I occasionally get a message that a certain file can't be found. I know where they all are - on another drive.
I don't want to just try to add all of the files onto the prime loactaion because It's likely that I will get a huge file of duplicate. From past experience the duplicate feature in this programs is very poor. I should mention that all files are from on own CD's & are without DRM.
If I get the complete list I can easily just copy missing files to main drive.

You can right click a folder and choose Synchronise - it has a Show Missing Files buttom.

How to run a query to list all "Missing Files"?

Not sure what happened, but I ended up with a ton of duplicate images on PSE8 Organizer. I have scrolled through and question mark icons have displayed for missing files.
I would now like to run some sort of query or report that will list/display ONLY those thumbnails/files that are "Missing Files". How do I do that?

There is a command line tool available that will do this. I had the same issue looking for "offline" photos. You can get it here: http://johnrellis.com/psedbtool/
Use the command with a switch to do a file dump: psedbtool -csv mypics
That will create a csv file called mypics. It will have information on every photo including status (online, offline, missing). Easiest to open it in excel and quickly filter or search. I wasted a bunch of time trying to find this inside the Elements product. Thanks to johnrellis.com! Good luck.

No option to save files, content/file type missing from Applications list

I want to be able to click a link to a file and have the option to Open the file with a specified application.
When clicking on the file I want to Open with a specified application, I only get a Save or Cancel option.
When I look in Preferences > Applications, the file type is missing from the list.
This was working. It is not working anymore. It is not a problem with the website. I need to know where in the FF settings I can change this.

I'm not sure of the solution on Windows. But this worked for me on Linux.
I needed to edit mimeTypes.rdf
See the links below for details. The first one was someone having a problem with Transmission. I was having a problem with ktorrent, so I just adapted that. If you're having a problem with a different file type, then you'll need to adapt it differently. But the general idea is the same.

Also, I suspect that FlashGot or some similar download manger plugin was responsible for screwing this up. I haven't confirmed it yet, but I've seen some things that make me suspect it.

How do I get a list of all missing files in a catalog in LR2?

Is there an easy way to get a list of all missing files for the thumbnails in Lr2? I know the symbol that appears in the upper right corner of any particular photo that is missing its file, but how can I get a list of all such photos for an entire catalog (or at least big chunks of a catalog).

How do I get a list of the missing files?

I recently filled up my hard drive so I moved my iTunes library to another drive. All went fine but some files were supposedly missing. No problem there I just used the locate feature to find them in there new location.
My problem is that on locating the last file that was marked with the "!" iTunes told me there is still 106 files missing yet there are no more files marked with the "!"
Is there anyway I can get iTunes to give me a list of these supposed missing files?

I just went through this last weekend.
I was told iTunes won't produce a list or show you "just" the missing file names.
The good news is I found a-work-around. Here what I found that worked for me.
Go to the m"Music" view. Then pick to view "Songs".
At this point you should see your files ( all types = music, podcasts, movies, etc.) one per line. In the left most column you will see it has no header name. In that left column you will see the "!" you are looking for. It might not be on the first screen, so page down. I have over 28,000 files.... so it took several page down.. But it went fast and I found them all.

Missing files when copying over network

I've had a good search for people with similar problems on Discussions, and there are a few mentions of similar occurences. Here's my summary though.
I have 2 Macs, and frequently transfer files from one to the other by sharing drives and using the Finder.
However, quite often, when transferring lots of files, they are sucessfully copied but do not show in Finder on the receiving machine. The files are there (using Terminal to explore the directory reveals the files in question), but Finder just doesn't acknowledge any existence of the "missing" files.
This problem can usually be cured by creating a new folder in one of the affected folders - this somehow kicks Finder into refreshing the folder's contents.
Removing the .DS_Store file(s) (again, via Terminal) in the copied folder also resolves this issue, leading me to believe that the problem lies with the .DS_Store files.
I cannot believe I am not the only user who frequently finds themselves having to do uneccesary Terminal work to reveal files which appear to be missing after copy over the network.
Is Apple aware of this problem? Does anyone else have any workarounds?

I don't think I have experienced that exact problem however, I am such a Unix geek, I typically do my in-network transfers between Mac machines using SCP at the shell prompt in Terminal.
Finder refresh on the other hand I have experienced before although I cannot provide a situation or example.
Usually if it needs a refresh, I believe all I ever do is navigate away from the folder, then back to it. Or if it is the Desktop in question, using Exposé to show it, a single click on an empty space there will make the newly copied items appear.

Copy full file path+file name in Midnight Commander

Hi!
How can I copy a file's full path with the file name in Midnight Commander?
If I press Ctrl+Alt+Enter it's shows this to me in the command line but I can't copy this route.
If I mark a file with 'Insert' and than if I would like to paste this for example in Mousepad or any other text editor with Shift+Insert or Ctrl+V it isn't works.
(Relatively newbie sitting here so if the answer is complicated please write a step-by-step instruction )

Well,I did a lot of research on the internet and I found the best solution.
- choose the file,press 'Ctrl' + 'Shift' + 'Enter'
- after that you can see the full file path + the file name in the command line (bottom of the screen)
- Select the text with 'Shift' + 'Mouse Left Click' (drag it across the whole command)
- For copy the text, press 'Ctrl' + 'Insert'
- For paste, press 'Shift' + 'Insert'
This is still pretty damn slow,I wanted to do it with a single key combination while the file is selected but it looks impossible.
But at the same time I have started to use Ranger file manager which is also runs from terminal,extremely fast,easy to use and if I press 'Ctrl' + 'Insert' on a file it is copies the full path with the name of the file itself. Just perfect.
I won't mark the thread [SOLVED] because if anybody knows a better method for this in Midnight Commander (with a script or whatnot) maybe will write it down for us. I hope...
