Missing files on iDVD start up

Whenever I start up iDVD I get a missing files notice that reads:
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/iDVD/Tutorial/Pictures Picture
and
Macintosh HD/Library/Application Support/iDVD/Tutorial/Pictures video
I remember going through the tutorial once, and may have deleted the files, but can't understand why I would need them. Do I?
Thanks
Grant

These are files you use in the project which have been moved or deleted from their previous location.
If you pull down the project menu and select the first option project info you will see a pane with all the referenced file. You have the option on highlighting to delete or navigate to set a new location.

  • Download has left me with missing files and cannot start iTunes

I was prompted to upgrade iTunes and so I did.  The upgrade started when Genuis was still doing it's thing.  At the end of the download, I was prompted to restart.  I closed what I was working on and restarted. Now, I when I try to start iTunes, I get an error message that says there are missing files and that I should re-install iTunes.   If I uninstall, will I lose the music files?  I tried to re-download, but this did not fix anything.  Any advice?

With that one in that context, I think we should check for malware.
Try downloading and installing the free version of Malwarebytes AntiMalware. Update your MBAM definitions and then run a full scan of the PC. (Takes about 2 hour on my Lenovo.)

Does the scan find any infections? If so, please paste the contents of the log file for the scan in a reply here so we can have a look.

  • Projects created in IDVD 5 now complains of missing files in IDVD 6

    Hi,
I just installed ILife 06. Now when i try to open dvd projects created in IDVD5 it now complains of missing files. It can no longer find photos for the slideshows i have created.

Have you run the new iPhoto? Did it "upgrade" your library when you opened it?
the iLife apps are linked, and it is best to open them in the following order:
iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, and then iDVD.

  • Does SAP create missing files TRACExx when starting up?

    Hi there,
I'm working on a documentation regarding a system copy from a productive system to a consolidation system.
We're using Sun Solaris 10/64Bit with Oracle 10g2 and Netweaver 7.00.
In the directory /usr/sap/<SID>/DVEBMGS_xx/log there are several files SAP uses:
    - ALALERTS
    - ALMTTREE
    - ALPERFHI
    - ENQBCK
    - SLOGxx
    - TRACE
    - TRACE00...TRACE07
My question concerns the TRACE-files. Only the file TRACE seems to be used by the consolidation system, but there are still eight files TRACE00 up to TRACE07 that were last accessed in 2008 and before.
These files are filled with data from former consolidation systems that got overwritten everytime by the system copy. Now, after the new copy, the SAP system is still down. May I delete these files? Does SAP create these files new when starting up?
    Greetz, Uwe.

    Hi,
Yes you can delete those files at any time. Check SAP Note 16513, it may help you.
    Thanks,

  • Captivate 6 Errors: Missing file libwinpthread-1.dll  and The Application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b) on Windows 2008 R2

    Hi,
I have a problem with Captivate 6 installation on Windows Server 2008 R2. I have 2 different scenarios where I tested but the result is same.
1- I used AMEE (Application Manager Enterprise 3.1) to create the installation Package to deploy through SCCM 2012.
Notice that the current package works fine on Windows7 (x86 & x64) but not on 2008 R2 due to an error after I try to launch Captivate.exe application.
The error states that there's a Missing file: libwinpthread-1.dll and if I copy and made a registration of this .DLL file then it sends another error saying: The Application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b) so it never let me launch the application.
2- Now if I install the package directly from the Original sources(CD) without creating any AMEE package after completing the installation I still have the same error about the DLL missing file.
Is there any fix or workaround to install Captivate 6 on Win2008 R2 ?
Thanks in advance & kind regards.

Did you download the Basic/Free version?
I also thought the Trial period was as long as you needed!?
What is your Warranty and Return Policy?
You get to use VueScan for as long as you want before you buy it, so we recommend you test it before you buy it to make sure it meets your needs.
All sales are final and there are no refunds.
Isn't this a bit harsh? Naah I actually prefer to solve problems, and if I offer refunds, people give up too easily. If I can't solve your problem after you send a few Problem Reports (see above), I'm happy to give a refund.

  • I use a windows operator and whenever I want to start up one of the CS6 applications, I get a missing file error

I used to have Photoshop CS6 and when I clicked to open it told me that I have a missing file by the name of ExtendedScript.dll and when I wanted to set up Premiere Pro CS6, the set up wouldn't even start because it says I have a missing file but doesn't tell me what it is. I don't know if it's also the ExtendedScript.dll as well?
How can I fix this missing file problem?
    Thank you!

reinstall ps cs6.  if the problem is solved and then recurs, you probably have a utility/cleaner that's causing the problem.

  • Won't start - missing file

Suddenly AW will not open. Even trying to open a file gets the spinning coloured ball and the message "missing file cross dissolve 04. Cannot find file. Without this file the movie cannot play properly.
I'm not doing anything with a movie. I tried reinstall software but no help. All other programmes operate OK.
    Any ideas?

Hello, Arthur. Welcome to the discussions. Try this, for starters:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=121704
Also, are you opening your documents by double clicking them? Does appleworks open okay from the applications folder? It sounds like your appleworks docs got associated with imovie or something. After you follow Peggy's user tip, click once on a closed AW file icon, then press command + i for the get info window and change Open with to Appleworks.

  • Can't burn due to missing file

I'm working on a project that I started quite a while ago and I must have deleted a video clip. Anyway I want to burn, but I can't because of the "missing file" error box. I've tried doing a "Save as", repaired permissions and restarted. I'm fairly new at this, so I'm looking for a simple solution. I really don't need the missing file, so how can I just go ahead and burn without it?
    eMac   Mac OS X (10.4.4)   iDVD 5

Hello Elizabeth - I think you'll need to address the basic problem, ie., find the missing video and move it back so iMovie can find it, or re-edit the video in iMovie so the missing piece isn't needed. One strategy is to delete the video from iDVD, then go back to iMovie and repair that part of your production that is missing (or move it back so iMovie can find it). When you re-import the video back in to iDVD, it should work better. You may also want to look around in the forums here for hints about making the burn smoother (maintenance tasks, good quality disks, slow burning, etc.). John

  • Missing File when trying to Burn to DVD

I am trying to urn my current project to DVD, and I keep getting an error as soon as I do that says: Missing File. It then specifies the path name which is something in my iphoto folder? Has anyone seen this before? I deleted my project and started over from scratch but it did the same thing the second time around.

It seems to me that you either have not opened the project in iMovie or are unable to for some reason. It's also pretty obvious that iDVD at least thinks that an element from iPhoto is missing.
I would suggest this. Take an obvious picture that does not belong in the movie. Open iDVD and in the error window, navigate to the replacement picture (you can select the file). Do a Save-as so your original project is unchanged. Using preview in iDVD, look for the error, then you can find a suitable picture to substititute. Then repeat the process with a desirable picture in place. clik on the picture and again save as so not to modify the original.
    Good luck!

  • Spotlight Indexing, Systemstats, Missing File, All After Mavericks Upgrade

    Dear Mac Support Communities,
The upgrade to OS X 10.9.4 has crippled my computer.
My main question is: should I reformat, or should I wait for a patch to come out to solve whatever is wrong with Mavericks? I explain below.
Spotlight is constantly indexing. The mdworker is all over the place on the Activity Monitor—4% and then it explodes to 85% of CPU usage. Systemstats kicks in randomly (connected to spotlight perhaps?) and eats up 90% of my CPU and 3gigs of RAM. Time Machine takes AGES to backup.
I have not been able to stop Spotlight's endless indexing. I have moved my hard drive and my Time Machine backup into the 'private' filter in 'Spotlight Preferences.' I have also tried the "sudo mdutil -a -i off" trick to stop indexing altogether. But Spotlight Indexing goes "off" and then automatically turns "on" in Terminal. Spotlight carries on, and the computer performance is choppy.
I've run disk repair. First, I repaired permissions. Then I verified and attempted to repair the the hard drive. There is a missing file apparently, and I therefore must reformat. This is very first issue I've ever had with the hard drive since I bought the computer. Considering how awful Mavericks has been—I have been reading other Support Communities posts—I'm nervous about something going wrong, or that all these problems will persist after the reformat.
All of this has occurred three days after my upgrade to to OS X 10.9.4. I have heard of numerous people having problems with Mavericks. All similar problems concerning missing files, haywire spotlight, systemstats devouring any remaining CPU power and memory space, and slow Time Machine back-ups.
Anyone with the same problems? Care to theorize some solutions?
    I have a late 2008, 15inch MacBook Pro., 2.53 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 8 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, running OS X 10.9.4 (13E28).
    Cheers! I appreciate the help.

Older Macs have more troubles under Mavericks. Considering the age of your Mac, it's not uncommon to start have hardware issues like drive failure.
To repair the drive you must boot from the Recovery Drive.
Boot into the Recovery Drive by holding down Command R when restarting.
Run Repair Drive and Repair Permissions using Disk Utility in Recovery.***
Next Reset Home Directory Permissions and ACLs following directions here This will serve two purposes. It will reset YOUR permissions. Not the same as Disk Utility reset permissions and it will cause Spotlight to re-index your drive when restarting.
    Restart
Download and run the combo updater to refresh your OS X files.
OS X Mavericks 10.9.4 Update (Combo)
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1755
MORE INFO ON WHY RUNNING COMBO FIXES ISSUES
Apple updates available from the Software Update application are incremental updates. Delta updates are also incremental updates and are available from Apple Downloads (software updates are generally smaller than delta updates). The Combo updates contain all incremental updates and will update files that could have become corrupted.
Combo updaters will install on the same version as they're applying--no need to roll back or do a clean install.
"Delta" updaters can only take you from one version to the next. For example: 10.9.3 to 10.9.4. If somehow the 10.9.3 is missing something it should have, and that something isn't changed between 10.9.3 and 10.9.4 it will still be stale after the delta update.
***If Disk Utility is unable to repair you will have to copy your data to an external drive first. Reformatting will erase the drive. You should have a backup regardless, if your data is important to you. Just like a seat belt and an air bag protect you in different ways when driving, you need both Time Machine and a clone for full protection. If you don't have an external drive for backup, I can give you some suggestions to get you started.
Both of these applications can be used to create a clone.
