Missing first typed letter in OSX 10.8.5

Having searched I see that a lot of people had this problem a few years ago on PowerBooks. I am on a Mac Pro:
We have 2x artworking machines, both 3.33 Ghz 6-core Mac Pro towers (not the tubes). We have recently upgraded both of them to 10.8.5 from 10.6.8.
One of these machines is presenting a problem where it is missing the first typed letter when you open a new Mail message or a new Text Edit document. The problem occurs when you open the new message/document and start typing immediately without delay. If you wait a second or two then start typing, everything is OK and all your letters are there.
The problem may exist in other applications but because the likes of Word and InDesign require you to click in the document window or draw a text box before you can type then the problem does not show itself.
To me the problem is linked to creating a new document and there seems to be a time delay after creating it where you cannot type anything. This was not present in 10.6.8.
Can anyone help or point us in a direction to fix this?

First Goodwill Letter - SETF

Hi everyone - I will be writing my first goodwill letter and have several examples to pull from but wanted to get some advice from you since you guys know the ins and outs of doing this. I traded in my car the day of my payment due date on 6/29, and although I realize now I should've went ahead and paid that payment, since this was my first time trading in I assumed the process was rather quick. The late payments really wrecked my credit since I didn't have many credit lines but paying on time for such a long period has helped tremendously. I was about to break 600 (which for me was a great feat coming from the low 400s) when I traded it in on 6/29. However, the process was not quick and unfortunately, the dealership didn't get the payoff to them until last week. I kept on them 2-3 times a week. Granted, the cosigner was sent paperwork to sign off on their portion but the dealership just took their time doing everything. So needless to say, even though I kept in touch with SETF on my end, they reported at least one late payment, maybe two. I'm pulling my reports now to see but under myfico, my scores took a huge hit from that. Which is such a bummer. Lesson learned that next time, I will just pay the payments until I know it's been paid off. But the payoff amount included those 2 payments from the dealership so it would've been paid twice in my eyes, but maybe I just don't understand it enough. So here I am with late payments again and I'm hoping with a goodwill letter, they will take them off after seeing that I've been paying on time for almost 2 years. I was just looking on their website at the contact info and I can either mail it to a general PO Box address or email them. Any suggestions? Thanks!

When trading in a financed car, I've called the Creditors and asked them to hold my payment for that month. Gave me time to see if I needed to pay that or if my trade in value was enough to pay off the entire balance, it would without any lapses. Used on Lexus w Cap1 Auto - no missed payments car paid in full during last payment month. Talking a week later than actual billing date. as for GW, one that has worked for me was sincere, friendly, short and to the point and most of all polite. You're now asking a favor and they have you by the short and curlies. "I lost my job and steady income in 2012, but as you can see from after that event, I have made timely payments as I understand the need to hold up financial responsibility" you got this. Go get em.

Manage your Apple ID. You will need to sign in with the typo email and then you can change it.
If you don't know the typo email you can use the link to start over with a new Apple ID

Validation on the first two letter

Hi,
Can anyone help me how to write a PLSQL code.
The code should check that the first two letter is a letter and then follow by a number e.g AB123456, BC123456.
When entering a number for the first two and error should be appear.

Can I pause the Maverick's update to first update software on OSX 10.8?

I started to download the new Maverick's hardware upgrade but then realized that there were some software updates that weren't done firsts(I'm running OSX 10.8.3). I then paused the Maverick's upgrade...
So can I go ahead first and update the software and then finish the Maverick's upgrade ?

The initial download can be paused, and in fact, if all you do is download from the store, copy the installer from the Applications folder to the desktop folder after the download is complete, you can quit the installer and install it later.

File.data.readUTF() misses first 2 letters

I'm using flash 10 and flex 4 but fins that file.data.readUTF() misses first 2 letters in my csv files. Any ideas how to fix this?
I also am getting this error when I try to do the same thing with a smaller .csv file:(attached)

think the problem is:
Reads a UTF-8 string from the byte stream. The string is assumed to be prefixed with an unsigned short indicating the length in bytes.

If the reset doesn't work go to settings>general>keyboard>turn auto-correction off, and see if that helps.

First letter is missing whilst typing...

I'm a slow typer so I usually don't have this problem. There are a lot of threads about it so it must be a problem for several folks. I guess if you start slow, the letter is less likely to mess up. Meanwhile, Apple may be working on it. -GDF

Still have the first letter missing when typing in forms

Thought this may have been fixed in 10.5. Anybody else experiencing the same thing?

I was using Firefox, not IE. Yes, all keys seemed to work just fine, as well as the keyboard and mouse, which made it so weird and hard to figure out. But it was all the mouse. I guess it had cancer.

Apple wireless keyboard misses first letter in some words

When I am typing, particularly in Word 2011, with my Apple Wireless Keyboard, it frequently does not type the first letter of a word. I have searched and can find no resolution to this problem. I have messed with Accessibility but that is all turned off. The only other bluetooth device is my mouse.

Thanks for this. It isn't the computer though, as it will happen very quickly. For example I can type in a web address, then look up to read the web page for 20 seconds or so, then if I type again it will miss the first key stroke.
I am starting to get used to typing the first letter twice!
I can see that it is a widely reported issue with Apple Macs, but I can't find a fix for Windows. I am keen not to have to buy a new keyboard!

Mac Book Keyboard Still Misses First Character When Typing....

This is an old problem that was supposed to be fixed with a software and firmware update but it still seems to happen on my MB. The first character I type generally does not register. Anyone else with this problem? I already had the keyboard replaced. Cheers.

I don't use growl... so I can't say if it may be related to the problem. In my experience, I cannot relate the problem to anything, neither could people here. There used to be a huge thread on this problem, but it got deleted (maybe because the issue is considered solved).
Another thing that makes it hard to isolate the cause is that it seems impossible to replicate a situation in which the keystrokes are missed. Sometimes I have the problem once or twice a month, then there are days when it happens all the time. I also think it was there from the beginning, but I'm not sure about that, since it took me some time getting used to the keyboard, and I may have attributed missed keystrokes to my lack of typing skills
Support told me to install OSX again, and see if the problem is still there. I could not do it so far since I really need my MB for work right now, but I will try it and report back. I think if it doesn't vanish then, it can't be a software problem. Any opinions on this?

Missing first letter

I've just installed Safari 5.1 on a pc and am having problems with it missing the first letter typed. My searches have revealed that this was an issue a couple years back but I can't seem to find any newer threads with people having this problem.
How can I fix it?

I have an Iphone, Ipad, and had a MacBook Air up until about a week ago when a buddy thought it needed a bath. Now I'm using my wifes PC and would like to use Safari. I don't need sarcasm, just a fix for this really annoying little bug.

InDesign CC on OSX 10.9 text missing when typing fast

When typing at my usual pace InDesign will lag and miss three/four letters of what I typed and when I go back through I find a multitude of errors in my text. Any ideas?

Type slower??
This happens to me too occasionally. Have not been able to figure out why. If I noticed the cursor lagging I just wait a few secs and then it usually catches up before I've made any major errors. I do check each paragraph as I go, though...just because of this lag.

Great, just great. I can't wait to re-sell this MBP like I do every year, to pay half of the cost of a new one... I'll just wait until something better comes up for keyboards, mind you.

Maybe it's a bit more rare after the firmware update, but it definitely happens.
