Missing flagged mail

so i've searched all over and every search seems to take me to ios issues.  But my issue is in my mail app on my desktop.
ever since i upgraded to maverick, my "flagged" box shows that I have 2 messages in it.  But when I click on that it does not bring up any messages. i've tried searching and sorting by flagged messages, i've tried flagging all messages and then unflagging them, but nothing seems to work.
i'm hoping this community can help me because it is beginning to drive me nuts.
thanks.

Got it to work! don't really know how;)

Is there a way to flag mail as junk that contains a certain attachment?

Hello, and welcome to the Discussions.
I am not sure what type of attachment you mean by "certain", but one example is discussed in the topic at the link below, and may be of interest:

  • I cannot delete any of my flagged mails that suddenly have jumped up to over 7k

My flagged mails have suddenly jumped up to 7k and now I cannot delete any of them.
They appear to delete and then return. This has only happened in the last 2 days ....
    Any suggestions

Hi. shldr2thewheeel...  I so appreciate the time you have taken to reply to my pleas for help.  I think that I need to clarify my problem.  But would you reread my previous message in the mean time...I may not be using the correct terminolgy for what I am trying to find out. AndI am sorry for that.  This stuff is very confusing for me but I am trying.
I do not have any thing in the trash. I don't even know if I have a trash folder.
#1.I wanted to know if I could have somehow deleted the trash folder ? in my email site?
#2 If it is possible than would this be why I cannot get the messages in inbox to delete to the trash folder?
#3 When I try to delete anything on this computer I get the message on my screen..++++ telling me that whatever it is that I am trying to delete could not be moved to that mailbox because  "Deleted messages -mail.comcast.net does not allow messages to moved to it+++++    Doesn't make sense to me and that is why I wanted to know if it was possible that I may have deleted the trash folder under the INBOX , SENT, DRAFTS, and then where the TRASH folder is suppose to be?
#4 Everytime I try to delete anything this message box shows up that tells me what is written in #3 between the +++++  ++++++
It is like there is no trash folder to delete anything to.  It this possible that there is not a trash folder because I could have deleted the Trash folder??
Thank you so much for time and your help....

  • Missing e-mails

I'm a long time Entourage user and since I bought a MacBook, I'm trying Mail.
I have 3 POP accounts configured, but I don't know why they are missing e-mails all the time.
I even configured an IMAP account of one of the POP to monitor the messages I'm getting... I simply do not trust all e-mails are really beeing downloaded.
Today, four e-mails were left on the server, and I can't find any reason for this behavior.
Worst, today I was looking for an e-mail I sent earlier today in the sent itens, and it was not there.
Seems to me that Mail "reload" data from the server even for the POP accounts (is it possible?) and is making some kind of confusion with read and unread messages.
I can't understand why it is doing the same with the Sent intens...By the way, my account is set to NEVER erase the sent messages.
    Any tips?

    Hello,
BB's are designed to only bring new emails from the point of activation to the BB. No historical emails can come to the BB via BIS. So, those emails that got lost for the BB are forever lost to it.

  • Flagged mails shown in "flagged" folder after deleting them

    Hi folks,
I have the following problem with my mail app:
I marked 4 mails as flagged and they were shown in the "flagged"-folder. After deleting them the flagged folder shows still the 4 flagged mails although they are deleted. Meanwhile I reinstalled the specific mail account, restarted the iPhone and so on. Nothing helped. Any ideas? Thx in advance.

    Hi Laura
I'm not sure you said which version of RoboHelp you are
using. I'm going to base my answer on X5.
You should find a file inside your project folder location
that is named rhbuildtag.apj. So what I would do is to close
RoboHelp HTML, locate and delete your ProjectName.CPD file. Edit
the rhbuildtag.apj file to remove any instances of those tags. Then
restart RoboHelp HTML and see if things have improved. If my hunch
is correct, this should correct the issue.
    Cheers... Rick

  • How to flag Mail Messages in iOS5?

My Mail messages in iOS5 don't reflect the flagged status in mail. Trying to flag them on the iPhone's Mail clinet by selecing "edit" should (apparently) offer me a choice to delete, mark (as unread/read) or Flag. I just get a choice of Mark or Delete - No flagging option, no flags showing on any of my messages. I'm using 10.7.2 and iOS5 (natch) on an iPhone 4 - Anyone got this to work or am I missing some hideous, glaring ommission?
    Thanks
    M

Firstly, thanks to Anthony - Can't believe I missed that one. While the way to flag messages is resolved for me now on my iCloud/Me account, the fact that none of my flags are reflected on my Exchange account is not, and sadly that is the account which I use for about 95% of my mails; it was really the only thing I really needed from iOS5 - All the rest is handy, but not critical. Selecting "Mark" on an Exchange message simply offers the option to mark as read - There's no flag option. If I select a message sent to my .me address, I get the mark as read option, as-well as flag.
So, I'm wondering if this is a setting  server-side, or to do with the version of Exchange server being run, as there's nothing in the OS I can see in the way of options. I'm tempted to delete the account and re-create it, but waiting for it to download all those messages again (and potentially screw up syncing, which it has done in the past) is putting me right off the idea. I didn't have the calendars, to-dos or contacts set to sync with Exchange (never use them) so I tried turning them on, but no difference.
If anyone with a bit of Exchange knowledge has any input or ideas, I'd appreciate the help.
    Cheers

  • Where did my flagged mails go?

I'm usually using my (as far as I know) fully updated Macbook Pro with 10.9.1 and Mail 7.1. I have 5 accounts in Mail with 3 through Google, 1 regular smtp/imap and 1 exchange. A few days ago I noticed that the Flagged folder was empty which seemed weird, but I was low on disk so I didn't think much more about it then.
Today I've got a few GB available on the disk, but the folder is still empty so I search the net and found a few suggestions to recreate folder indexes:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11704
Having done so the folder dissapeared from the left panel but flagging a new mail made it reappear. However, that email was not to be seen in it, it was still empty.
So, what am I missing here to make the mails reappear in the Flagged folder? Going into other folders I can still see the flagged emails their with their red and yellow flags. But Flagged is still empty.

Now that you have recovered them back them up somewhere else.  Having only a single copy of important files is not good.  A hard drive can fail at any time.  If you don't have a backup, you will lose everything.

I had the same problem.  I found a work around by setting up an imap account to my exchange server for email and using the other to only sync calendar, contacts and reminders.  The only issue with that is that you have to fetch your email.  It won't push.
    Hope this helps.

  • TS2834 I've been using the mail app that came with my Mac for over a year. Out of the blue, it will not open and keeps saying "Mail cannot open because of a problem" and something about not being compatible ??? Help! I miss my mail

I've been using the mail app that came with my Mac for over a year. Out of the blue, it will not open and keeps giving me an error like "Mail cannot open because of an error and something about it not being compatible. Please help! I miss my mail

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
    from the menu bar.
Click the Clear Display icon in the toolbar. Then try the action that you're having trouble with again. Select any messages that appear in the Console window. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

  • How to import only "missing" E-Mails from backup?

    Hello everyone!
I have a problem with mail. I set up a new MacMini (w/ Mavericks, i7, 2014) from a backup of an older MacMini (also Mavericks, i5, 2012). I used the migration client and it all looked just fine, when I first started working on the new system. First thing, which was odd: I had my project folder with LOTS of content lying on the desktop (some 14 GB, a few thousand files in multiple subfolders). I noticed, of those 14 GB 12 GB went missing. No problem - I just copied the files from my old system (which I still have and which still works).
However, after I've been working with the new system for a couple of weeks, I noticed the same thing that happened to my project folder apparently happened to my (local) E-Mail folders. Again, the folder structure is still there, but tons of (mostly older) e-mails are missing. Since I've been working with the new system for quite some time now, the above-mentioned "delete and replace" approach is out of question, because all new e-mails, which I filed in the local folders would be lost.
As I still have my old system as a backup, it is no problem for me to retrieve all old e-mails manually. But is there a way how I can import only those mails, I have lost during migration? Or in other words: How can I sync the new and the old mail folders while avoiding duplicates and keeping the folder structure as is?
Every comment is highly appreciated! Thanks in advance..!

Quit Mail. Force quit if necessary.
Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Mail/V2/MailData
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar. Paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V, then press return.
A folder window will open. Inside it there should be files with names as follows:
              Envelope Index
              ExternalUpdates.storedata
Move those files to the Desktop, leaving the window open. Other files in the folder may have longer names that begin as above. Move those files, if any, to the Trash.
Relaunch Mail. It should prompt you to re-import your messages. You may get a warning that the index is damaged and that Mail has to quit. ClickOK. Typically, the process takes a few minutes, but it may take hours if you have gigantic mailboxes. In that case, you may be able to speed things up by temporarily adding your home folder to the Privacy list in the Spotlight preference pane. Remove it when Mail has finished importing.
Test. If Mail now works as expected, you can delete the files you moved to the Desktop. Otherwise, post your results.

  • Emails missing from Mail - can't access backups from Time Machine

To my dismay both of my gmail accounts through the mail client will only show me emails from the last 30 days. I went to check gmail through Safari and the same story, I'm locked out of emails from before the last 30 days. This is not only on my Mac, but also on my iPad and iPhone.
I attempted to go into Time Machine and do a restore, but the same thing is happening and I'm pretty sure it shouldn't be. For some reason even when Time Machine pulls up my email backups I can see stuff from every year but 2013 and the beginning of 2014. It starts populating the backup to show me my emails, but nothing appears and I know those emails have to exist somewhere.
Does anyone know if this is some kind of code error that caused this, or if there is anyway to get around it? Having an entire year's worth of emails missing is really problematic for me as you can expect. Does anyone know how to remedy this?

  • Some pdf attachments missing in mail 5.2

I fail to receive pdf attachments intermittently using Mail 5.2 running OS X 10.7.3 (Lion).  When the attachments do not arrive, I see no paperclip in the attachments column.  On a recent occasion, a colleague sent me three consecutive emails, each with 1-2 pdf files attached.  The middle one (containing one pdf), shows no attachment in Mail.  However, I know the attachment is there, because if I open it on my iPhone, I see the attachment.  What's more, if I forward the email to myself from the iPhone, I can now see the attachment again.  This has happened several times in the past as well.  Any ideas?

I have the same problem, failing to receive pdf attachments intermittently using Mail 5.2 running OS X 10.7.3 (Lion), and not being counted among the attachments
Two times where I'm aware it happened, the sender had replied and included the attachments I had sent in my original message, and I'm wondering if those attachments somehow led to their own attachments not displaying and not even being counted in the e-mail window.  "3 Attachments, 317 KB" displayed, but those were my three; clicking the "Save" drop-down menu listed only those 3 attachments of mine.  In one case, I had them resend their attachments as a new e-mail, and that worked.  Their 2 attachments totalled 941 KB, so Mail missed rather a lot by displaying just 317 KB.

  • Attachments missing in mail.app

I have noticed the following problem with an imap account:
I am looking at a message that has an attachment but the attachment is not shown in mail.app. In its place there is a generic graphic with a question mark. I right-click, choose "Download Image" but nothing happens. When I log onto may email account using a web browser and check the same message, the attachment is there (a bmp graphic, in this particular case). This doesn't happen with all messages that have attachments but I've noticed it at least twice in the past couple weeks (and perhaps more often, but I generally ignore attachments).
    Themis

I have the same problem: I use Mail with an imap server (in fact, exchange), and after upgrading to snow leopard quite often messages in Mail don't show the attachment; I DID figure out that if I rebuild the mailbox, as also suggested by others, the missing attachment is no longer missing and I can download it; rebuilding the mailbox is not such a problem, but, still, this is an irritating behavior; interestingly enough, if I check my mail on my iPod Touch, attachments are always there, but when I check it again on my macbook pro or mac pro they don't appear any longer
