Missing Flash more on iPad than iPhone

I don't want to start up a big discussion, but I have to say that in the year I've had my iPhone, I didn't miss Flash once. It has never been an issue.
Now, with my new iPad (which I absolutely love!), I have missed not having Flash loads of times, just in the last few hours.
Simple things like Slamtracker (for Tennis scores, etc.), BBC iPlayer, live TV just don't work. Wasn't a problem with the iPhone as it was recognised as a mobile device whereas the iPad isn't.
I'm not whining or complaining, but it is more of an issue than I thought it would be.

Overall, I'd broadly agree with you. It has never really been possible to take the iPhone seriously as a media/content device, whereas the iPad certainly is exactly that. And while there's been considerable exaggeration in the claims of how important Flash is, there are undoubtedly some sites which rely on it and which are glaringly unsuited therefore to the iPad. The BBC news site is one such, and unlike many other websites which seem likely to move to HTML5 because as Allan suggests, they won't want to miss out on the traffic from millions of iPads, I have difficulty believing the BBC will be quick to change!
As for the difference between how the BBC site directs iPhone and iPad traffic, you are absolutely right. The versions of Safari on these two devices are not exactly the same - at least in terms of how they report themselves to websites. Since the BBC recognises the difference, it serves up different versions for the two different platforms. On most sites where this is the case, you can usually get to the mobile version on the iPad by using the same URL the iPhone goes to (and bookmarking it just in case).
