Missing font for terminal

I am setting up 42 new education emacs. Was doing some font clearing and apparently I did some thing that will not allow the terminal to work. I would think that the terminal font would be part of
system>library>fonts
which I did not touch. Apparently not because now all I get is a tine box with terminal that I cannot stretch
What did I do?
Thanks in advance.

Does the issue repeat in a new user ?
If not then try pulling ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.Terminal.plist to the desktop, log out/in of the original user and see what happens.

  • Missing Font for templates

Yesterday I tried to use some templates that I've used numerous times before, without a problem, and now Pages is telling me that fonts are missing, and that I need to reinstall them in order to use the templates. It's basically telling me this for every template. Can anyone help me out? Is this a bug? How do I locate these missing fonts, and how do I install them again? Thanks!

I would say that it happens so often to people that it is a bug that Apple does not handle the case better. However, I never had the problem myself, and there often seem to be some sort of logical explanation. I copy some links to earlier discussions on the topic and some comments, which apparently were helpful - at least when they were in context.

  • Bug in Mail's handling of missing font for creating a "Note"

I try to keep my font library trimmed down to a minimum, since i don't use many fonts, and don't like to see cluttered font menus.
However I apparently disabled one too many fonts, and now Mail refuses to create "notes". When I go to create a new note, nothing happens at all... no error message, nothing (and this strikes me as a problem with Mail. I didn't go in and make any deep system level modifications, i simply used the Fontbook app that is available to all users, and switched off a few fonts, and now Mail is malfunctioning. It should at least give me a warning message).
My system console reports as follows:
    11/12/07 8:37:11 AM Mail[152] * Assertion failure in +[NoteView updateFontAndRule:], /SourceCache/Mail/Mail-912.1/MessageViewer.subproj/NoteView.m:149

    So,
    1. Does anybody know which fonts Mail needs for Notes?
    2. Is there a way I can/should report this bug to Apple?

If you create a metadatatype with a single metdata block, and you reference that in your vm/cm cell attribute using a *one* based index, Excel seems to see the link and it honors it when saving the spreadsheet.
So, I ended up with something like:
<c ... cm="1"/> (I'm dealing with cell metadata, but the concept is equivalente to value metadata)
    <metadataTypes count="1">
      <metadataType name="MyMetaType" .../>
    </metadataTypes>
    <futureMetadata count="1" name="MyMetaType">
      <bk>
        <extLst><ext
    uri="http://example" xmlns:x="http://example"><x:val>87</x:val></ext></extLst>
      </bk>
    </futureMetadata>
    <cellMetadata count="1">
      <bk><rc
t="1" v="0"/></bk> <!-- this is what gets referenced as cm=1 on the cell -->
    </cellMetadata>
    Hope this helps.

Hey I just ran into this issue...
Any font guru's know where this might be occurring?
I had a display problem and some how when I got the display working again, the same problem exhibited itself, but only for DM... none of the other software has an issue?
I hesitate to reinstall DM because it's been so stable - I know one of the later versions would not work on my XPP machine and gave up worring about it last year.
    I'm fairly sure I'm running DM 6.x
    Maybe it's a Registry issue.

  • CS5.1 Missing fonts - converted to outline

Hello, I have PC with Adobe Master Suite CS5.5 installed.
    Problem:
I had to open eps file, where is font Obelix Far East, which I don't have and needs to be replaced to Myriard.
When I open this eps, all Obelix's words are automaticaly converted to outlines.
    original:
    CS5.5 - immedatelly after opening:
Is any way to prevent convert words? I can see it first time, because before CS5.5 I used only CS4 and there was no problem with this. I simply replaced missing font for the known one and that's it...
Thank you very much for any idea.
    Regards...Ilja

like maybe I hit some odd key command that made it all go away but I've been unable to get anywhere.
Yes that is the case, you accidentally must have hit the cmd + T key and now you have set Bridge to show only thumbnails.
Under the menu view you will see a checkmark in front of the option: "show thumbnail only" . Click on it again to deselect or hit again cmd + T (on a Mac) and you get back to the normal situation

  • CS4 - Missing Fonts Loader Plug-in?

I apologize if this has already been asked, but I am having difficulty with the missing fonts loader plug-in.
Q:  Can some please give me a detailed (step-by-step) instructions for installing this plug in for CS4?
Q:  What is this Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package required for CS 4?
    I need some assistance, please.
Thank you very much for any help!

I meant to add this as well.
Missing Fonts Loader Plug-in for Adobe InDesign CS4
The plug-in for Adobe InDesign CS4 is available on the Proxima Software Web site. This plug-in can automatically
activate missing fonts in Adobe InDesign documents.
    Missing Fonts Loader Plug In
Product Adobe InDesign CS4 version 6.0
Description Automatic Activation of Missing Fonts
    Operating System Microsoft Windows
Requirements Your missing fonts must be located in FontExpert
Groups (visible in the Groups view).
    FontExpert 2009 version 10.0.
The plug-in may also work with FontExpert of earlier
versions 9 and 8, but FontExpert 2009 version 10.0 is
    recommended.
    File Name MissingFontsLoader.pln
    How to Install the Plug-in
    NOTE
The plug-in for InDesign CS4 requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package
(available on the Proxima Software Web site, http://www.proximasoftware.com/download.htm ).
Copy the MissingFontsLoader.pln file to the Adobe InDesign plug-ins folder:
    c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS4\Plug-Ins\MissingFontsLoader\MissingFontsLoader.pln
    and RESTART Adobe InDesign.
(Where "c:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS4\" is the folder where Adobe InDesign is installed.)
Using the Missing Fonts Loader Plug-in
This plug-in has an activation option: automatic (recommended) or manual.
    Automatic Activation
The Missing Fonts Loader Plug-in loads missing fonts automatically when you open an Adobe InDesign document.
The plug-in searches for fonts in font groups defined in FontExpert. If a missing font is not found in the FontExpert
Groups view, it will not be activated, and the font will be marked by InDesign as a missing font (for the current
    document).
    3
Missing Fonts Loader Plug-In for Adobe InDesign CS4
In the picture below, the Missing Fonts Loader window shows an empty list of missing fonts for the current
document, because all fonts were activated automatically:
    4
Missing Fonts Loader Plug-In for Adobe InDesign CS4
When InDesign opens the document, it may still mark fonts as missing, even though they were actually activated
by the plug-in during the opening of the document. In this case, you may be required to reopen document to let
InDesign know that all missing fonts are now activated.
The font information xml file helps solve this problem. It is recommended to select the Use font information xml
files option. Every time you save the .indd document, the Missing Fonts Loader plug-in will create a small xml file.
This xml file will include the list of fonts used in the corresponding .indd document. When this xml file is present,
the plugin can activate fonts just before the InDesign actually opens the document and searches it for missing
fonts. (You will find the xml file near the Adobe InDesign .indd document on your computer.)
    Manual Activation
When the Activate Missing Fonts Automatically checkbox is cleared, the plug-in
does not activate missing fonts when you open the document. You can open the plug-in
    window and activate fonts manually.
The Missing Fonts Loader window shows the list of missing fonts in current document:
    5
Missing Fonts Loader Plug-In for Adobe InDesign CS4
Click the Activate All button to activate missing fonts.
    Important Note
Unfortunately, when missing fonts are activated manually, you are usually required to close the InDesign
document and open it again to let the document "know" that new fonts became available. This is the
    disadvantage of manual activation.

  • [Solved]urxvt does not search the font for emojis while gnome-terminal

Hi, I'm using urxvt and am having some problems setting up fonts. These are my URxvt parameters specifying the fonts
    URxvt*font: xft:Inconsolata-dz for Powerline:style=Semibold:pixelsize=14:antialias=true:hinting=slight, \
    xft:PowerlineSymbols:pixelsize=14:antialias=true:hinting=slight, \
    xft:Symbola:pixelsize=14:antialias=true:hinting=slight
Now, the emojis from Symbola does not appear and it only appears as a box
The same thing when opened in Gnome-terminal properly displays the emojis
Also, I have tried starting urxvt with the following options
    urxvt -fn "xft:Symbola"
and it works but as you see Symbola is not a font for your terminal.
What am I doing wrong here? I've check my previous lines and it is right. Do you guys have any ideas? Much appreciated. I have also tried with other posts stating that Urxvt cannot display symbols properly and have tried them all. If I've missed any please let me know. The strange thing is that it works for Gnome-terminal and Urxvt with only Symbola fonts

Make sure the System Locale is set to utf-8 locale.
    This sometimes is the issue.
Many thanks for your reply, I've checked the system locale is proper. I think I have found the solution.
I think the official rxvt-unicode faq and documentation here states that rxvt-unicode drops pixels while showing some fonts because different fonts use different height and width. In this particular case, Symbola font is too wide and the default letterSpace does not allow it to display correct. If -letsp parameter is set to 4, it is displaying but with about a half pixel missing
    The specific parameters for .Xresources
    URxvt*font: xft:Inconsolata-dz for Powerline,xft:Symbola
    URxvt*letterSpace: 4
And this gives this which technically solves the issue
The documentation clearly states the following
All of this requires that fonts do not lie about character sizes, however: Xft fonts often draw glyphs larger than their acclaimed bounding box, and rxvt-unicode has no way of detecting this (the correct way is to ask for the character bounding box, which unfortunately is wrong in these cases).
I guess the first thing one should do is to check the documentation thoroughly of the official project page rather than searching countless forums where people have discussed stuff based on trial and error. I guess that's a classic rookie mistake and I feel very good that I'm moving past the rookie phase

  • I bought and installed many fonts for a project and one font in particular which is showing up in the font list on a new file, is missing when I open an existing file containing that font. I can't understand why that's happening and the font is Centrale S

    Hi
I am encountering a missing font error on Adobe Illustrator for a font that I recently bought - Centrale Sans Bold. This font is clearly installed in the system's font folder and is also showing in the font list on Adobe Illustrator. But when I open an existing file containing this font it is giving the error "The document uses fonts or characters which are not available or are in a different format than originally specified".
We have also bought Centrale Sans regular from a different website as we couldn't find both on one, could that be clashing somehow?
Also the existing file was created on MAC plattform and we are using a windows plattform to open it. That to me doesn't seem like an issue as all other files are opening up fine and I have bought around 47 fonts and only this font seems to be not working. I have also written to the website I bought it from but I have also bought around 20-25 fonts from them and all the other fonts are working fine too. Maybe its an illustrator related problem?
    Please help!!!!!!

There is one way its getting fixed. Once I update my Adobe Illustrator CC to Adobe Illustrator CC 2014 it is further allowing me to go into the system folder and allocate the font to the file so that it can replace it. My only concern now is that our MAC partners who will receive these files back from us have Adobe CS6. We will down save it to CS6 but I hope they won't experience any font issues because of us using CC 2014? Any light you can shed on this?

  • Is there a way to automate missing fonts in thousands of small pdf's for print

    Greetings,
We are receiving thousands of small PDF's from several differnet locations with missing fonts. The controller on the printer is having to perform
font substitution on each page. This causes the printer to cycle and not run at rated speed.
I am wondering is there a way to have these files insert all the missing fonts before they reah the controller on the printer?
    Thank you so much.
    HDRDR

There are tools out in the market which should be able to embed and fix missing fonts. You might look at something like PitStop server.
If no commercial product is out there, you might talk to the developers of such tools for a customization.
    Hope this can help.

  • How to apply a new font for missing glyphs in another font?

    The situation:
For an article, I want to use Font1, but some of the glyphs are missing in it, and are highlighted with pink boxes. Font2 have much more glyphs than Font1. I can apply Font2 manually for each of the missing glyphs, but it is tedious.
    Question:
Is there a way for InDesign to do such substitution automatically? I.e., apply a default font, which can be specified by user, for all the missing glyphs.
If not, how to search/find those missing glyphs with GREP or script? Since InDesign can identify the missing glyphs and marked them with pink boxes, it seems easily (not to identify the unicode ranges which seems not very easy) to find them using GREP, but I failed to find it.
Any one know how to do this? Thanks.

No. Alas, I might add. There is some sort of auto-catch, specific for Symbol symbols, but no-one knows how it works and you cannot manipulate it yourself.
If not, how to search/find those missing glyphs with GREP or script?
Not specifically, i.e., you cannot search for "any missing glyph". Add a GREP style which changes just the font (make sure it doesn't set the font style as well, or else your Bolds or Italics might disappear). Create a new Preflight profile that checks just for missing glyphs, so you won't miss any.
None of this can be automated though.
.. it seems easily (not to identify the unicode ranges which seems not very easy) to find them using GREP, but I failed to find it.
InDesign's GREP flavor doesn't allow named Unicode blocks (http://www.regular-expressions.info/unicode.html), but I have successfully used character ranges to automatically set the font for Chinese, for example.

  • Missing fonts - Installed now asking for (T1) versions

My office has a huge library of fonts, but most I believe are used by our designer who uses InDesign CS6 on her Mac. I am using a PC with Windows XP (with SP3). When I first opened one of our .indd files to make edits,  I received a message that the following fonts were missing:
    Adobe Garamond
    Adobe Garamond Semi Bold
    Adobe Garamond Bold
    Adobe Garamond Expert
I was able to download TrueType versions of the first three (not Expert) and install them. When I reopened the same .indd file I received the same message, only this time each font had (T1) after the name. This seems strange, as I did not install any version of the Garamond Expert, and yet InDesign is still requesting a (T1) version. Would downloading OpenType versions be the solution to this, or is there a workaround in InDesign to use the TrueType Versions? I tried replacing the missing fonts, but was unable to replace each with their respective  Bold / Semi Bold etc. TrueType equivalent.
Thanks in advance for your time.

Your Mac user has a VERY old collection of Mac-format T1 fonts. There is no way they can be used on Windows, so they are always going to show up as missing. You can substitute the TT versions, and install those onthe Mac as well, but there may be text reflow. A better solution would be to upgrade to OpenType versions (which would eliminate the need for the Expert set at the same time). I beleive ID ships with several weights of Adobe Garamond Pro.

  • Imported text from word, all missing fonts found, but still have pink boxes for Turkish language

    Hi,
I placed a document from word. The body font is ITC Garamond. Apparently ITC Garamond doesn't have some Turkish characters. Adobe Garamond however, does. So I was going through and selecting each pink box and changing the character to a new character style I created which is the Adobe Garamond Font. Surely there's an easier way to do this rather than me selecting each pink box? Can GREP do this? I would use the Find Font dialogue, but it shows all fonts as being fine, it doesn't show any missing fonts. So this seems to just be a wierd issue with ITC Garamond not having those special characters.
I know what you're thinking, why not just make my body font Adobe Garamond Pro.... Well I can't right now. Not for this job. Maybe in the future I will, but for not it has to stay ITC Garamond condensed Book.
Also, I should note that in the preflight panel, InDesign does not show the document as having any missing Glyphs either.... so Peter's Glyph script won't work.
    Thanks in advance.

In your case I would not add or change a character style, change your paragraph style. A mix between 2 similar fonts looks terrible. You might need a character style for language purposes, to get through with hyphenation correctly, but this is a different thing.
To change a font globally go to search font and replace and redefine styles.
But if you really does not want to change the font you can crate a character style. And in your paragraph style go to GREP styles and select this chara style and write all glyphs and letters where you need this character style.
Take care, if you use a different font you might have to scale in advanced properties, so that a glyph from the other form fits to the rest of the text.

  • IWorks asking for certain missing fonts

    Hi All,
I was wondering if anybody else was experiencing this issue too: Every time I open a template on any iWork '08 program I get a message saying that "some warnings occurred" and when I review the warnings it's always about some missing fonts. One of the fonts that it looks for is Helvetica Neue. I never had this font installed as far as I know. Is it supposed to be on my system somewhere? I'm running OS 10.4.10 on a G5 PowerPC. I also use Linotype FontExplorer X to manage fonts on my system. I used to use Suitcase Fusion but it was giving me too many issues.
Other missing fonts are for example:
    ArialMT
    ArialNarrow
    ArialNarrow-Italic
    Arial-Black
    AmericanTypewriter
    Baskerville
    Baskerville-Italic
    Copperplate
    Futura-Medium
    Futura-MediumItalic
    GillSans
    GillSans-Bold
    HelveticaNeue
    HelveticaNeue-Italic
    HelveticaNeue-Bold
    HoeflerText-Italic
    HoeflerText-Regular
    MarkerFelt-Thin
So basically what I am asking is this:
    1. Are the missing fonts supposed to be installed on my Mac somewhere? Were they shipped with OS X?
    2. How can I replace them without having to buy them? The Helvetica Neue family is very expensive!
    3. Are these fonts essential to the template's formatting, etc?
    4. Can I replace them with other fonts?
    5. How can I stop the warning message from popping up every time I use a template?
Thank you for any help in advance,
    jenzvan

Yes, I get these messages often, as well. Only I see them most often in Numbers. I would like to be able to disable these silly notices, but there aren't any preference settings to disable much, if anything.
