Missing Fonts from CS6 - Namely Myriad

I have many templates for my work with typeset in Myriad, not MyriadPro. When I run CS6, everything works fine. Then I run the same file in CC and I get a missing font message from TypeKit and my font is gone. See attached screenshots. Please, I really need help solving this issue, otherwise I have no reason to have CC.

Where was the font before? Do you have the font file someplace avaialble? Adobe apps don't remove fonts from the system, and they do need to be installed someplace to be available for use. Although there are quite a few fonts included and installed for you automatically when you install CS products, Caflisch Script is not one of them. http://www.adobe.com/type/browser/fontinstall/cs6installedfonts.html

  • Missing Fonts from Imported PDFs

I have a document that has several PDF documents "Placed" in it.  When I go to print, it tells me that I have missing fonts.
From Find Font, I can see the missing fonts and what PDF they came from.  Only, Find Font won't let me substitute it.
I can't change the font on the PDF either since it was not made by my department.   I've tried Placing with and without a Frame.  Tried embedded and linked.

I totally agree.  I'd be a lot less stressed if that's how things were done here.  We are a State University who's funding suddenly got cut.  Work study students are cheap (though not as cheap as fixing up any messes they make).  It's also cheaper to hire people who don't have complete training.   Every program I use, I've learned on my own.  I'm at least smart enough to ask questions and read the manual.  When training that my employers can afford (i.e., free) comes up, I attend.  The only saving grace of Aspergers -  I  learn programs (and programming) quickly - maybe not as efficiently as  you - but better than those around me.  I at least knew about embedding  fonts, linking graphics and packaging (my old days on Mac OS7 with PageMaker and Photoshop)
And at least I can read instructions.   "Place missing fonts in the Fonts Folder, which is located in the InDesign Application Folder." - Adobe Manual
I just looked.  The folder is empty. And I gave them a print out of the instructions.
As  for the Plug-in I asked to have installed "Missing Fonts Loader", they  just dumped the plug-in into the Plug-in folder and didn't bother to  read the "how to install" instructions.  IT must have sent a work study  student.  Every time one touches my computer, something goes wrong or  missing.  Once they even installed the same program twice - 1 per  partition.
Thank goodness the 'work around' did actually  work.  I'll will be working on fixing the problem the correct way, but I  have to has this project ready now - not months from now.

  • Removing/substituting a "missing font" from a document

    Hey all!
I removed some unused fonts from my system, and now some of my Pages documents raise up the "missing font" error on opening, although all styles used in the document use the fonts that are in the system. Perhaps some of the blank paragraphs may have "traces" of those old fonts.
So is there a way to do a "substitute font" procedure? Or do I have to manually select all paragraphs and make sure the style they use is based on an existing font?
    Thanks,
    Artemiy.

  • Fonts folder - where do I put fonts from CS6 disk of extras?

Where do I file FONTS from Master Collection CS6 extras CD?

I think I understand what was on your mind since I was wondering if the fonts folder was part of the installation or a "extra" package that would just sit there if you didn't manually download it. However, I believe the fonts are automatically installed into your default library during the regular installation process. At least the following release notes suggest that, and I was able to find the fonts that were on the CS6 install disk in the library on my computer, fonts I did not have before. So, in short, I don't think you need to do anything with that font folder--it is taken care of during the regular installation. • Missing fonts from a pre-designed file?

Okay, newbie here, appreciate your patience.
So I received some INDD files that need some minor changes (I'm new at this, so wouldn't take on more than that!), and the fonts folder that was included has 9 versions of Helvetica. I'm working on a MacBook with Tiger and OS X 10.4.11. It has the standard Helveticas that came installed.
When I made the minor fixes, not using any new fonts, and went to export the file as a PDF so she could proof it, the dreaded Missing Fonts window popped up. I know I would normally need to install the fonts included but didn't think it would be a problem as these are pretty standard. So I opened up the Fonts Folder she sent me, and the font names are
    HelveNeuBol
    HelveNeuBolCon
    HelveNeuCon
    HelveNeuHea
    HelveNeuLig
    HelveNeuRom
    Helvetica Neue 2
    Helvetica Neue 3
    Helvetica Neue Condensed 2
I couldn't copy them to my fonts folder, but I dropped them into InDesign's fonts folder. Still no luck. Then when I tried to open one of her font files to check out what the difference was from what I have on my Mac, it opened up empty.
These are the names of the fonts it says I'm missing:
    Helvetica Neue (T1) 75 Bold
    Helvetica Neue (T1) 55 Roman
    Helvetica Neue (T1) 57 Condensed
    Helvetica Neue (T1) 85 Heavy
Helvetica Neue (T1) 77 Bold Condensed
I'm not sure what to do from here. If anyone could shine a light (even a glaringly obvious one) on what might be going on here, I'd be so very happy.
    Thanks,
    Jen

Helvetica Neue is not the same as the plain vanilla Helvetica that came on your Mac, and sustituting one for the other will probably result in visible differences as well as changes in line wrapping, not to mention you may not have the required weights.
PC T1 fonts should work in the ID fonts folder, so if they continue to show as missing, it could be that either the fonts in the folder aren't really the ones that were used, or that the PC and the Mac are reading different internal names for the same font (this even happens from machine to machine on PC when multiple versions of a font are installed). Try removing the font lists. Close all Adobe apps, then search for and delete all adobefnt##.lst files where ## is a number (that is the Windows method, but I'm pretty sure those lists are on Mac too, and there may be some additional steps you can take to clear fonts caches).
When you restart ID and open the file, if the fonts are still missing, make a copy of the document to avoid destroying th original, then use find font to substitute the nearest equivalent from the list that should now include the fonts you copied. Check for obvious changes in line wraps, etc.

  • Missing fonts from CS3 in CS5.5, ex Adobe Rekord. How do I export them?

Just upgraded from CS3 (windows version) to CS5.5 (Mac OS version).
In CS3 we created alot of nice artwork with Font built in InDesign.
Now when we migrated to CS5.5 the Fonts are not possible to import into Mac OS.
Has anyone a solution to this?
Thank you so much for your time
    Dag

Thank you so much for your quick answer.
Instead of giving you an exact answer which fonts we are using and missing, I will give you all that we are missing:
    They are all Adobe Fonts:
Alleycat ICG, ITC American Typrewriter, Americana, ITC Anna, Baker Signet, ITC New Bakerville, Bell Gothic, ITC Benguiat, Bickley Script, Birch, Blackoak, ITC Bookman, Caslon, Century Old Style, ITC Cheltenham, ITC Eras, ITC Espirit, ITC Fenice, ITC Flora, Fritz Quadrata, ITC Galliard, Adobe Garamond, ITC Giovanni, Isabella, ITC Kabel, Kaufmann, ITC Korinna, LetterGothic (T1), ITC Machine, Madrone, Myriad, Ocra, ITC Officina Sans, ITC Officina Serif, Orator, P22 Corinthia, Parisian, Park Avenue, Poplar, Rekord, Serpentine, ITC Slimbach, ITC Tiepolo, Trajan, ITC Veljovic, Wiesbaden Swing, Willow, Adobe Wood type
    Good to know:
the fonts are not stored in C:/windows/fonts
    Nor are they in adobe/indesign/fonts
And last, it was not possible to pack a file, with fonts, on the old computer, export via USB stick, and then import into MacOS. MacOS did not like the fonts at all.
I called Adobe support to make them give me a new license key so I could install CS3 on MacOS and thereby get the fonts but they refused.
    Looking forward to your help!

  • Bridge CC Missing Features from CS6, i.e. 'Open With'

    Using CC - Windows 7, 64bit.
First of all - I am curious as if there is a way to set additional options for the "Open With" option when Right-Clicking on an Item? For example in previous versions of Bridge, I was able to right click on a PDF that would need to be opened in Photoshop or Illustrator and select that as an option as opposed to opening in the default Acrobat Reader. In CC, I am forced to leave Bridge, go into the application, and Open the file through the system dialog box. It's a function I didn't realize how often I used until I updgraded to CC - now I am forced to go through a timely hunt for the file through the servers instead of just being able to open it via Bridge. The current options to 'Open With' are Acrobat are available, also offers Adobe Reader, and Chrome as options - but none of the necessary options.
I realize I could drag and drop it - and at times this is appropriate - but often not.
Is there a way to activate or achieve this?
Secondly, and I have researched this some already but wanted to confirm - there is no way to create a PDF inside of Bridge anymore? I have installed the Output Module successfully, however the option to create the a PDF is still not there. Is this correct, or should the ability to create a mulit-page PDF be in the Output Module I installed? If so, where is it now located?
Thanks in advance for any help!
    Best,
    Adam

In CC, I am forced to leave Bridge, go into the application, and Open the file through the system dialog box.
That is not normal behavior (at least on my Mac I still have all installed applications as option under this menu). By default the open with menu under the righty mouse menu should show all installed applications on your system. It sometimes even shows them double in case of attached disks with back up etc.
This has not changed in Bridge CC. If you have those applications installed on your system at the same location as Bridge they should show.
First try a reset of preferences for Bridge with holding down control key while restarting Bridge and choose rest preferences from the provided menu.

  • Missing fonts from DVD studio Pro

HELP!!! Anyone had this problem. Feel stupid asking because the answer will be right under my nose at the end of the keyboard.
I have recently re-installed DVD STudio Pro 4 and no longer have any fonts available when I access the font panel to create text for buttons etc. Any ideas???

thanks Gary, tried that one already, no luck. Just doesn't make any sense. Where have all the fonts gone. All other programs find the font folder just DVDSP...mystery!

  • Photoshop CS 8.0 missing fonts. Any ideas?

OS X 10.4.11, ran FontNuke.  Fonts are available for use in InDesign and Illustrator as well as the rest of the system.  All fonts were available a few days ago, now  missing fonts from 'Fe' - 'Z'.  I have all of them from 'A' to 'Fe'.  No font manager but Font Book.  Need to update an ad for a client using the Helvetica font family...  Any suggestions?
    Thanks!!

You have a "bad" font in there that messes up the font ordering/ font names. Remove any extraneous fonts and see if it fixes the problem...

  • Fonts "missing" from Cs6 to CC

Updated to CC from Cs6 and a majority of my true type fonts are coming up as "missing". What am I missing?

  • InDesign CS6 + Yosemite + Copy/Paste = Missing font

We use ITC Franklin Gothic throughout all of our pieces; it's installed and it's the default font setup. New and existing files have opened without issue until now. I opened an advertisement that needed to be resized, from our shared server and copied the contents. In a new document, I pasted the contents suddenly the font says it's missing. The images retained their links to the packaged folder on the server, the fonts just stopped working. I closed InDesign, then disconnected from the server in case there was some kind of conflict between the local font and the server font override from the packaged fonts folder (packaged from the local font installed, I made the source ad this same way). Loaded the new file, and got the expected missing links dialogue, but unexpectedly the fonts were still missing. I reviewed the missing fonts, and it was the entire family. I opened Suitcase, verified the fonts are active. Still no fonts in InDesign. Okay, disactivated font in Suitcase (maybe it needs an update), installed the font in Fontbook, need to get the ad done and I don't have time for this. Verified font works by opening a different file, making a new document, but as soon as I opened the ad with the missing the fonts, fonts go missing. I then changed the fonts to a different family, and tried changing them back, but the font doesn't even show in the list of fonts. I can't figure out why this particular method of copy and paste breaks the font. I've opened and created other files with this font family active, while this copy/paste file is open at the same time in another tab while it still says "no". The only work around I could use was to copy the entire packaged folder from the server to my desktop and just change the document properties to the size I need, then adjust the artwork to fit.
I'd like to find a resolution as to why copying and pasting broke this font even though the same missing font works fine simultaneously in a different document. Any suggestions/questions/thoughts/solutions would be very welcome.
    System specs:
    27" iMac (Mid-2011) 3.1 GHz i5
    32 GB RAM
    1 GB Video
    10.10.2
    Adobe InDesign CS6 8.1
Update: Looking through the font list, Franklin is being listed as a different font. Though the character palette, the font selected is ITC Franklin Gothic Std Book; the font listed in the Type drop-down menu is Myriad Pro, and once that was deactivated, Helvetica.

i don't see how that could be the case because I originally installed the font, created and packaged the ad, and the font is available for typesetting in a new document while this problematic document is open without being connected to the server.
I upgraded to creative cloud 2014 and this particular document is still a problem. This font issue is limited to this sole document. I'm guessing it has something to do with the copy and pasting. Tomorrow, I'll try replacing the font to something else and then copy/pasting it in the same way if it recreates the same problem with a different font.

  • Missing font picks up Myriad Pro when exporting to PDF

When I export an InDesign CS2 layout to PDF from a Windows PC that is missing one or more of the original layout's fonts, those missing fonts are being substituted with Myriad Pro. Does anyone know why it is picking up Myriad Pro rather than Adobe MM Serif/Sans fonts? Is it possible to choose an alternative substitute font instead?
What's actually happening is that a fairly dimwitted server is producing the PDFs automatically at the end of a publishing system I'm working with. If a naughty editorial person decides to use a font that isn't on the approved list, the server substitutes the missing font. This wouldn't be a problem if it applied Adobe's MM substitute fonts because we'd be able to preflight it. However, since Myriad Pro gets embedded in the PDF in place of the missing font, our preflight check says everything is OK. Nor can I exclude Myriad Pro from the preflight check because that's one of our approved fonts.
Any help would be gratefully accepted.

  • CS3 is replacing missing fonts with Myriad

I am opening a file that uses some fonts that are missing. OK, and I get the warning message to that effect. Normally CS3 shows the alert badge on the layer and if the layer is selected & type tool active, it will show you the missing font name in brackets. BUT now when the file opens, there are no alert badges and the fonts are all changed to Myriad!
I tried deleting my prefs but that didn't help.

We received similar issue before http://forums.adobe.com/message/3024227#3024227
Do you have Font Agent Pro? If you do, please remove Font Agent Pro plug-in from Photoshop Plug-ins folder and try.

  • InDesign CS6 Middle East : default font substituted for missing font

    Hello,
Message error from Indesign : Default font substituted for missing font
I am currently using version "InDesign CS6 Middle East," which normally supports the Arabic language ...
The problem is that the characters display correctly and others not! Especially this "font" called "MunaPlain", this version was created in 1996. (on the Internet, I could not find a new version!)
According to research, test... i have found that Mac OS X Lion that causes this error!
    My question is:
Can I uninstall Mac OS X Lion and install an old OS version in my computer, for example MAC OS X Leopard ? Any solution please ?
Is there an update or plugin indesign for Arabic? (except ScribDoor, because in this case, it is useless)
    Thank you!

For questions regarding Adobe apps, it is probably really best to ask Adobe or use their forums:
    http://forums.adobe.com/index.jspa
I am amazed that an arabic font from 1996 would work correct anywhere today given the changes in technology that have occurred.  Is it really not possible for you to use a modern Unicode Arabic font for your work?  There are lots of them -- Apple gives you a half-dozen or so.  And there is a list at
    http://www.wazu.jp/gallery/Fonts_Arabic.html
Whether you can downgrade your os depends on your hardware.  If it came new with 10.7 installed, then it is not possible.
