Missing fonts in a new computer reinstall of illustrator 10

I recently purchased a new Dell computer with Windows 8 operating system.  The Illustrator program is working yet a lot of my fonts are missing
and have been replaced with generic fonts.  Am I missing something?

sskopal,
Are you sure you have installed the fonts that come with 10?
You have to choose to have them installed; you can do that from the installation discs at any time.

  • Moving fonts to a new computer

    I have a new computer and want to more or remove fonts from my old computer to the new one. When I open Library/Font Book there are only a handfull of fonts. My fonts have been installed in font book and are useable in programs. When doing a search they are listed in forn book but are not there to burn them to a CD to move to my new machine. Please help on where to actually find them or the prober way to transfer them to the new machine.
    Old computer:
    PowerMac G4
    OX 10.3.9
    New
    iMac
    10.4.8

    Fonts should be in several places:
    Mac OS X disk/Library/Fonts/ to be available to all users
    Users/Home/Library/Fonts/ used by that user only
    Mac OS X disk/System/Library/Fonts/ used by the system
    You can get tips on transferring the files here.

  • Events and project thumbnails missing after moving to new computer

    I just helped a friend to move to a new Mac. I have copied all her personal data to her new computer, so iMovie Events and Projects are present in her new Movie folder. However, after opening iMovie '08, all events and project thumbnails are missing. How could this be? Is there perhaps some library file that keeps track of all this that I need to copy as well? Is there a way to re-link iMovie with the events folder?

    Try this:
    First, make sure you've quit out of iMovie. Then go to your Movies Folder > iMovie Events > and then into the folder of the even that's giving you trouble. Drag the folder "iMovie Thumbnails" to your trash. Then open the folder "iMovie Cache" and drag the file "Cache.plist" to the trash. Restart iMovie. It should rebuild the thumbnails, and by regenerating the .plist file, it should have the data it needs to reed the new thumbnails into iMovie.
    It worked for me. Hopefully it will work for you too.

  • Can't move my adobe fonts to my new computer?

    I recently downloaded the Frutiger std font family to use in Illustrator CS6.  I have since got a new computer and can not get the fonts to re-load on the new harddrive.  I have copied the font files and pasted them to the new hard drive but when I right click on them no install button comes up, only open.  Are you only allowed to install the fonts once?

    No, there is nothing in the fonts with that type (pun intended of course) of restriction.
    What platform are you on? Windows? MacOS?
    I suspect that what you downloaded and are trying to install might in fact be .ZIP files that contain the .OTF files that are the fonts themselves. If that is the case, you need to open the .ZIP files and extract the .OTF files inside and then try to install the .OTF files.

  • About 100 songs/items missing from iTunes on new computer

    I recently used Copytrans to transfer all my music from one computer to another. After a while of using the new computer, comparing it to the other computer, about 100 tracks/files were missing from iTunes. How can I find out what's happened to those missing files?

    Do you know which songs are missing? If so, search and see if they were uploaded somewhere unexpected.
    If you don't know which songs they are, I would compare your library to the old computer and just burn an mp3 CD of the songs you're missing.

  • Laptop crashed during update. New computer reinstalled itunes and most of music missing.

    How can I retrieve lost files?

    Unless you have a backup, they would still be on the old computer's hard drive.

  • The size of pictures & fonts on my new computer are smaller than on my old computer, using firefox.

    I have changed screen resolutions on my computer. I have changed the font size used in Firefox. Still the page's pictures are smaller and the articles are smaller.

    Is your old computer still available and working? <br />

  • New computer, windows 7, Illustrator 8.0.1

    8.0.1 opens the welcome screen but does nothing when I click Install.  I also have 10, 12 and 14 but only as upgrades.  The Windows 7 is the home edition that came on the computer.  Do I need to Upgrade the Windows to Pro or Ultimate?

    It is not necessary to have the previous version actually installed first even though they are upgrades. Having the serial numbers are sufficient.
    You can probably install 14 without installing 12 as well.
    Hopefully you deactivated the 14 and 12 if you had them previously installed.
    Unless you want to run it on both computers, keep in mind you will only be bae to run one at a tie if you do.
    You do not have to install 8.0.1 in order to install 14.

  • Trouble with transferring iTunes from old computer to new computer.

    I have tried twice; once using the iPod and once using an external storage hard drive to transfer my music.
    The libray comes over but not the playlists. Worst problem is that now the music "skips" as though it was on a old fashioned record player! Yikes, can anyone help? What have I done wrong?

    new computer = Dell 1505 with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2004

    You may/must have had music files stored outside of your iTunes library.
    I'd recommend going to the Finder and then via the search box look for files with mp3 aif m4a aac etc. depending on the music format your digital music had. With the list of files shown you should be able to learn which files were stored outside of your music > itunes folder
    Chances are they could be burried somewhere under your documents, downloads, desktop, ... we all have different storage and organization habits.
    Then when you find the missing files, on the new computer you can do add to library and go to the folder on the other computer where the missing files are - if your systems are networked - or sneak them over using a USB thumb drive or portable hard drive if you have lots of files, or if you like to have an extra backup of that music, copy to optical disc.

  • Can't Outline Missing Fonts in PDF When 'Illustrator Editing' Feature is On

    I've got an unusual problem with a supplied PDF File that uses fonts I don't have.
    Normally I'd place the PDF into Illustrator and use 'Flatten Transparency' with the 'Convert Fonts To Outlines' option to create vectors for the missing fonts. However this particular PDF file seems to have been saved with the 'Preserve Illustrator Editing' setting, so when I place it into Illustrator the illustrator data is read and I get live artwork - with the fonts replaced - instead of something I can work with, meaning that I can't replicate the type I need.
    I've tried importing the PDF into inDesign and resaving as a new PDF - but Illustrator is not fooled by this clumsy and desparate ruse, and again treats the file as editable artwork with the missing fonts replaced.
    How can I force Illustrator to ignore the editable capabilities of the file and just convert the fonts to outlines?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    K

    Thats quite garbled - but I think I've decoded your spasmodic keyboard mashing:
    evershowed = ever showed?
    fesature  = feature?
    red = read?
    whn = when?
    throough = through?
    questi = question?
    effeciently = efficiently?
    remarksjust = remarks just?
    becaued = because?
    injesting = suggesting? injecting? requesting??
    Now who looks 'lazy'? How old are you? I'm guessing that you are a child or a teenager?

    I'm crushed. Inconsolable. I expect you'll probably have to look that last word up.
    Wade_Zimmerman said: And if you wish tutorials on typing I suggest doing a search on google.
    I know how to type and can spell reasonably well too - what's your excuse for sounding like a rude, idiotic, uneducated child? By the way, 'Google' is a special word - it is what's known as a proper noun - so it gets a big 'g' at the start. Cool eh?

  • HT4527 When transferring iTunes from old computer to new computer, even though all of songs were copied over, not all of them went to iTunes, some appear to be stored elsewhere. How can I find these songs, and how do I transfer them to iTunes?

    When transferring iTunes from old computer to new computer, all my songs were copied over, but not all of them were stored in iTunes. It appears they are on the computer somewhere, but not on iTunes. Where are these other songs likely to be, and how can I get them onto iTunes? Because of this problem, Apple will not allow me to update my iPhone.

  • Reinstall new computer, missing music files

    I had my old computer backed up with Carbonite. New computer is Win 7 but when I attempt to transfer my music, many songs have an exclamation mark & when attempting to drag the song to create a new playlist I get message that the file is missing.  How do I restore these files?  Frustrated.  Thanks :-)

    Hi jackiesic,
    When tracks in iTunes display a it means the file cannot be located; it may have been moved or deleted.
    This may have occurred during the transfer of files to your new computer, as the iTunes Media folder was either omitted from the transfer, or was moved to the wrong location. For more information, see this article:
    iTunes: Finding lost media and downloads

    Alternatively, if your media was downloaded from the iTunes Store, you may be able to download it again free of charge:

  • Video Missing After Reinstalling on New Computer

    I backed up my "My Music" directory, deauthorized itunes from my old computer, reinstalled itunes on the new computer and restored the directory "My Music" and let itunes redo the music.
    However, while the music is all there, the 10 or so episodes of Monk are not. Does anyone have an idea as to why?
    Is video kept in a different location and perhaps I didnt back it up like i thought?
    Thanks.

    I don't really understand ... you wouldn't re-install on a new computer ... you would install, not re-install ... so I'm not sure what your concern really is.
    Nevertheless, any installation or re-installation can be done from the installation disk.

  • New Computer - missing menu items & where do I find my thumbnails?

    I have just upgraded to a new computer and intalled Photoshop Elements 8 on it.
    I have a viewing problem on the organizer - all I can see on the header bar is a little arrow that drops down to file, edit, find etc.   The other writing on the bar is missing.   Is it a font problem?
    Secondly - How do I go about finding the file containing all my thumbnails and tags, collection that I had on the old computer?   and when I find it where do I copy the file to on the new computer?   I would hate to have to redo my whole photo collection.
    I have Windows 7
    Thanks
    Audrey

    Hi,
    This has happened because of your DPI settings. To change your DPI settings, go to Control Panel\Appearance and Personalization\Display and select the 100% radio button. This should solve ur problem.
    Cheers!!
