Missing fonts in pages
I upgraded to the new pages on my iMac. I was working on a document and wanted to change the font. I found that my font list was shortened. I opened an old copy of pages and found all my fonts. I also opened MS Word and all my fonts were showing. So I tried to look in the preference on Pages to see if I could get all my fonts to show up. There was no such option. In old pages, the fonts all show up fine. So what happened? I am not interested in editing on a iOS device, so compatibility is not important. I have a large collection of fonts I use for special purposes, so I cannot be limitd to small selection. How do I get all my fonts to show up?
I am running OS X 10.9 and pages 5.0 on an iMac i7.
OK, I restarted just to see if that fixed it and sure enough the fonts showed up in the new pages. I guess I should have tried that before.

Hi VikingOSX, all the fonts are correctly installed in FontBook, no duplicates, all enabled and validated, and they appear in some apps like photoshop, but the problem seems to be with Pages, Numbers, Keynote (latest versions installed, all is up to date)
I tried copying my .ttf files to library/fonts both in my root folder and user folder, with no results.
As I said earlier in Pages I can access all my fonts if I go through the Format/Fonts menu but then it makes the font window appear and it is not very easy to use as is. My problem is that three quarters of my custom fonts (almost all from dafont.com) are not there when I try to go with the drop-down menu in the Text section of my Pages document.

How to find missing fonts in Pages 5.0
When I open an older document in Pages 5.0.1, the application informs me that certain fonts are missing from my system. That's helpful to know, so I can reformat the text in question to use a different font. However, I cannot seem to find *what text* has the problem. How can I locate the affected content, so that I can update the font to a valid one?

Missing fonts warning when adding pages to a book
I have a book with 13 documents added and 105 total pages. I have 10 master pages set up, and each time I add (or delete) pages to a document, I get warning: "The document <doc>.indd needs to be updated but has missing fonts. It may recompose with a default substitute font and result in inacurate page numbers. Do you want to continue updating numbering?" If I click OK to continue updating the numbering, sometimes an extra page gets added somewhere else in the document. Preflight Book is not showing any errors and I also tried looking at the preflight panel in each of the 13 documents. Neither says anything about a missing font. How else can I find it? Thanks!
It could be in overset text (though preflight should see that) or in a style not currently in use. Are you sure the priflight profile is looking for missing fonts, bucasue is really does sound like there is substitution ocurring. Also, have you looked in Type > Find Font.
If none of that is fruitful, I'd try exporting each of the documents to .inx or .idml, then opening those and saving as new .indd docs. Add the new docs to a new book and see if you still get errors. -
On Pages 09. Error Message "Missing Font" - text on all my files/Documents has disappeared. I know it is still there from the word count - but it is invisible. Any clues Gratefully received.
What version of Pages '09?

I transferred a Word file from a PC and when I open it in Pages I get a Missing Font Warning. How can I find where the words or characters that use that missing font are, so I can change the font.
Is there a way I can search for or highlight any words or characters that use a particular font?
Or is there a way I can highlight all of the other known good fonts I am using so that I can isolate the words or characters with the missing font?
Also, can I find out what font has been substituted for the missing font?
I want to be able to replace the "missing font" with one of the two good fonts I am using in the rest of the document.If I remember well, the warning tell us the name of the replaced fonts.
So we may use the script which is available on my iDisk since 6 juin 2008 to replace the missing fonts by the ones we want to use. It was written to respond to a clone of your question.

Missing Fonts on a pages document
I just opened a Pages document that I have opened many times before and it said error occured - aril Mt and and another arial MT bold of some sort font is missing.
I have never goofed with any fonts errors since I went to Macs maybe 6 years ago. It says to add it to your folder or just ccancel or continue.
how do i add it? where do i get it from and what folder do I insert in into when i find these 2 fonts?
Why did this happen?

Pages can be very picky about fonts, even fonts you do not visibly use in a document. It is for example possible that a Style you do not use contains a font that is missing. It may also be part of a bullet list.
* Use Applications > Font Book to make sure you really have all the fonts that Pages complain about. If you do not, get them.
* If you think the missing fonts may come from MS Office you can go to Mactopia to download a test drive, which will install the fonts.
* If you think the missing fonts come from Pages, reinstall Pages.
* In Font Book, highlight the fonts Pages complains about, and go to File Validate, to make sure they are ok. Make sure there are no duplicates active.
* In the Finder, highlight the files of the fonts that Pages complains about. Drag them from the Fonts folder to the desktop and then back again to the Fonts folder.
* You can also try Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility > Repair Permissions. (To be honest, I do not think I have ever heard of this actually fixing any problem, but it is theoretically possible.)
* Some people have reported solving the problem by "cleaning" the document saving it to another format. Try for example saving your Pages 2.0 document as Pages 1.0 and then reopen it. Warning! You may loose formatting here, so keep the original as back up.

Missing Fonts Error Message-Pages 2.0.1
I created a brochure with Pages (2.0.1) - No problems. I reopened the brochure and saw an error message stating that there were "missing fonts." I have one Admin account and one User account. I installed the application under the User account and created the brochure under the User account. I have not moved or added any fonts - Only have fonts that came with the OS and that were installed by Pages. Please help! This is VERY annoying. Can not find help under OS or Pages help topics.

I had this problem a while back. Sometimes the package info gets confused and you end up with a font that doesn't exist. It tends to happen when converting files from Word but it can happen within Pages. Selecting all the document and changing the font wont correct it however there is a way to solve this:
Open script editor and enter the following script:
tell application "Pages"
tell front document
set aRef to a reference to (every character of body text whose font name is "ENTER MISSING FONT NAME")
set font name of aRef to "ENTER NEW CHOSEN FONT"
end tell
end tell
Ensure Pages is open and the document is open. Compile the script and run it. Now wait as it takes a while for the script to run and there is no indication it is running. When the script editor is done close the doc and reopen it.
Ensure that you enter the precise name of the font that Pages says is missing and the new one you want to replace it with. If it's misspelt it wont work.
Also this only works on Pages 2, not on Pages 1.

How to add missing garamond font in pages on ipad2
Hi,
Just wonder if anyone might be able to help me out. I have recently downloaded pages on my iPad2 running on IOS5 because I'd like to be able to use it to work with word documents. I noticed that in pages, there is no garamond fonts from the font drop-down list. Is there any way I can insert the garamond font into pages?
The other things I have noticed from working word documents in pages is when it comes to bullet points in the content, it actually adds more space between lines of text. Because I was playing to see if I can open and edit word docs from pages and send them back to my PC which has got microsoft word 2010. When I compared them, there were a slightly different in the document (before and after). Apart from the bullet points issue, I do not see anything else that may cause discrepancies.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Last row missing for every page in webreport printing
Hi Friends,
We are facing a challenge while printing web report.
Lets say report output contains 500 lines and lines are divided in to 10 pages.
Each page contains 50 rows. When exexute the Printing in webreport we are getting only first 49 rows for each page. Last 50 row is missing for each page.
What could be the problem.
Please help me how to fix this issue. I am not aware of this webreporting Html code.Please frineds help me how to fix this issue.

Missing fonts in InDesign CS4 - even when 'open' in Suitcase Fusion 3
Hi all, I'm running InDesign CS4 on a Intel Mac Pro (tower), about 4 years old, running OSX Snow Leopard (all updates applied).
Using Suitcase Fusion V3 for font management.
I have a document that previously had no font issues at all. Now when I open it InDesign throws up a 'Missing font' error.
I have the correct fonts installed and 'open' in Suitcase Fusion.
The font is available in Simpletext and Pages, but not InDesign and Illustrator.
The troublesome font was OK the other day and has been since it was installed.
I've not changed anything that I'm aware of... but now InDesign won't 'see' the font.
In the 'Find Font' dialogue box the 'Path' says it's 'Unkown or missing'.
InDesign can see the other weights in the font family (bold, italic etc) but not regular. And yet the entire font family is in the same folder on my hard drive.
I've tried deleting all the' Adobe.lst' files. No Joy.
I've run Font Doctor on the whole font family, its says it's OK.
I've tried re-installing the font from a back-up. Nada.
If anyone has any suggestions..... feel free to let rip!
As ever, I await your expertise and unstinting knowledge in these matters And, needless to say, I'll be mighty appreciative for it!
RPHi Bob, strangely... I've put the troublesome font, Dax (T1) Regular, in the Applications/Adobe InDesign CS4/Fonts folder and it seems to be working.
Never had to do that before.
Would be great to get back to 'normal'. If possible.
Although I have many duplicates spread across back-up drives and collected artwork folders, I've also tried to eliminate any duplicate 'open' versions. But the above solution is the only one that works at the moment.

p.s. I also tried removing any AdobeFNT**.lst files, (where ** is a number) before the above work around. That didn't work either. -
How do I recover a "lost" font in Pages? The font file appears to exist in my MS Office area.
How do I recover a lost font in pages? The font management process seems very opaque, lots of areas on the hard drive with font folders. None seems to match the list of fonts I can pull down from the font menu in Pages. At the moment, the font I need is Century Gothic, which does reside in the MS Office area, but nowhere else that I can find. Would greatly appreciate help!
thanks much, EilertThanks for the idea, fruhulda. I just checked (Jul 18) and the "missing" font is there. However, yesterday I tried a full restart of my computer, and it seemed to fix (?) the problem, so I still am not sure what happened. At any rate, the problem is now gone.

We are receiving thousands of small PDF's from several differnet locations with missing fonts. The controller on the printer is having to perform
font substitution on each page. This causes the printer to cycle and not run at rated speed.
I am wondering is there a way to have these files insert all the missing fonts before they reah the controller on the printer?

HDRDRThere are tools out in the market which should be able to embed and fix missing fonts. You might look at something like PitStop server.
If no commercial product is out there, you might talk to the developers of such tools for a customization.

Missing Font, But Font Isn't In the Document
Hello,
We're all using FrameMaker 10 on Windows 7.
My client and I are receiving the good old missing fonts error message, specifically:
The "ITC Stone Serif Std Medium Ital Italic" Font is not available.
It will be replaced by "Times New Roman Italic".
The "ITC Stone Sans Std Semibold" Font is not available.
It will be replaced by "Times New Roman".
First, the fonts are installed.
Second, Remember Missing Font Names is turned OFF. (Unchecked, cleared, etc.)
Third, the fonts are NOT in the document. I have saved the document as MIF. I have searched for the font names. Nothing. When I open the MIF file in FM, I don't get an error. But I save it as a .fm file, open it, and I receive the same error messages.
We don't use these fonts. We don't want them in our documents. I'm doing a massive clean up to get rid of old formats. About half of the files do not have any problems, but half do. I have tried everything:
- Generating a list of fonts. If the fonts are found, then I go in and manually apply the Default Para Font. Usually, doing this removes the font from the list of fonts. However, I still get the messages.
- Importing formats from a known good file.
- Editing the MIF, to the point of removing the entire paragraph, character, font, and table catalogs. (I started by deleting references to ITC Stone x, then went on to the more drastic measures.)
- Changing the default printer.
- Copying the text and pasting it into blank files based on known good files.
- I tried editing the maker.ini file to substitute fonts directly, but that didn't work. I may have been doing that wrong, though.
I've got over 10 years of FM experience, and I've never encountered a font problem that editing the MIF couldn't fix.
All of the documents came over from Frame 6. They're all in the same book.
We need to be able to work on the book file as an entity, without having to open the files that contain errors and leave them open.
Does anyone have any ideas?

FM couldn't open all of the files in the book. Therefore, it couldn't update cross-references. It "thought" cross-references were unresolved.
I figured this out by deleting one page at a time from a Bad file. Then, I deleted one paragraph at a time from the Bad pages to determine that the cross-references were causing the problem.
I was cleaning up the book - deleting paragraph, character, cross-reference, table, and conditional text formats and master and reference pages. I then imported formats from a known Good file. The more files FM could open without errors, the fewer font errors I received. After I was able to generate/update the book, the font errors were gone.
Some of the font calls were on a reference page that was found only in select files. However, one would think that would show up in the MIF.
My best guess is that FM couldn't update the cross-reference formats without updating the cross-references, so it "thought" the text was still in the wrong font. That begs the question: Which came first, the unresolved cross-references or the missing fonts?
Of course, it doesn't explain why FM was complaining about a font that is installed.
Thank you everyone who took the time to answer. I'm sure this won't be the last time I run into this problem, and now I'll have a lot more knowledge for next time.

Missing fonts in iWork documents
My iWork apps keep giving me missing font document warnings when I launch Pages, Keynote and Numbers documents. This is a problem already reported by many other iWork users but I haven't found a satisfactory solution and I'm hoping someone here can help.
When launching an existing Pages document, I get this document warning:
Here's what I see in the Font Chooser. Helvetica has got some new variants like '.Light Oblique'. What the??
But if I quit Pages and then create a new document, I don't get any warnings. The Font Chooser also behaves as usual:
I've validated my fonts, deleted the font cache, repaired permissions in an attempt to fix the problem with no success. What should I do?I'd like to add perhaps a slightly different perspective to this problem. I'm a graphic designer and use Insider Software's FontAgent Pro to manage all of the fonts on my machine. I use Font Book only to manage the few system fonts that are necessary to run the OS.
I keep the number of activated fonts to a minimum and regularly clean out the font caches to prevent any problems with all of the design apps that I use. I've done this for years and haven't experienced any font-related problems for a long, long time.
When I want to use Helvetica/Neue Helvetica (which is rarely), I use PostScript Type 1 versions of those fonts. I don't want to reinstall the dfont version of Helvetica, because that will create conflicts with the fonts in my commercial work.
Whenever I open or create an iWork document I get the Missing Font error mentioned in this thread. The new version of iWork lets me select a substitute font, but my choice never seems to "stick." Once I close the document and reopen it, the same message reappears. iWork seems to assume that every document must use the dfont version of Helvetica/Helvetica Neue, regardless of what I want.
Why can't I specify what font I'd like to use, and have it become the default for all of the iWork apps? Until Apple fixes this problem the whole suite will have to remain shelfware and I'll keep using Office. I'd prefer to use iWork, but at least Office doesn't insist on nagging me about my font choices.

Missing fonts in PDF placed in InDesign
I was sent a PDF to make slight changes to it. Since the changes were so minor and relatively few, I thought it would be easiest to just place the pages of the PDF into an InDesign document and put white boxes over what needs to change.
I just noticed the Preflight panel says I'm missing Arial and Times New Roman which I know I have. I tried doing "Find Font" to replace the missing Arial with my Arial, but "Change" is grayed out so I'm thinking the fonts must not be properly embedded in the PDF.
I'm not sure if they have the original document the PDF came from (and if they do, it might be in Word). Is there a way I can fix this either in InDesign or with Acrobat?
Or, if I don't fix it, do you think that the missing fonts will not print properly?You might be able to embed these fonts properly in the PDF. It isn't always successful, but in Preflight, open the fixups section and use the selection as in the screen shot. Then relink/replace the PDF in ID.

Where did the possibility to join two smooth endpoints into one go?
I used get a dialog box when joining two overlapping endpoint, that is if they truly were on top of each other. I would get a dialog box when selecting two endpoints and pressing cmd+j where I could choose either smooth or corner. Now in Illustrator
