Missing Frames from Beginning of m2t (mpeg) File?

I've imported a .m2t file in to After Effects CS3 and the first couple of video frames are missing, leaving the layer not starting where I want it to and also the audio out of sync.
There's also one of those red frames at the end of the composition too.
The same file is fine in Premiere Elements 3.0.
What's going wrong with after FX?

The stream contains open GOPs which are not correctly conformed by After Effects. It will therefore only use the next complete GOP. This may be a specific problem with your camera. AE should handle most such streams correctly. This issue may already be fixed in CS4, but you can still report it, just to make sure:

  • Audio missing when saving a project from PE13 to a mpeg file the audio is missing.

    Hi All,
As always thanks in advance for the help.
I have been saving a small video project of short clips into a movie and every time I complete the save to my computer as an MPG video when I go into playback the audio is gone.
IF I re-open PE and play the sections where the music should be it is still there. I am stumped and tried multiple times to save with no success

I have tried to force loss of audio for a Premiere Elements 13 Publish+Share/Computer/MPEG NTSC DVD Standard export and cannot. So let us try this
    approach...
With Premiere Elements 13 Publish+Share/Computer/MPEG NTSC DVD Standard, click on the Advanced Button.
Do your Video Tab, Audio Tab, and Multiplexer Tab look like the following?
    Video Tab
    Audio Tab
    Multiplexer Tab
See if your settings are the same as mine. I have no problem with the MPEG2.mpg from the NTSC DVD Standard.
If we agree on the settings, then look at the situation when you change the Multiplexer Audio Format Settings from Dolby Digital
to MPEG and lastly try PCM.
    Looking forward to your results.

  • Mpeg 2 for Blu-ray audio exports with missing frames at beginning and end.

Im using a Matrox Axio LE system and the Matrox Media encoder to export an Mpeg 2 for blue-ray. My footage is shot in 1280x720p 59.94 drop frame. I have found that after exporting the file from the encoder and bringing it into Encore CS3 that the audio that was exported is a little shorter than the video. Frames are missing at the end of the file.
Because of this my video and audio are way out of sync. Has anyone else come across this issue?

    Maybe on the Matrox forums.

  • Missing frames from timeline representation!

I have never seen these blue boxes on my timeline before. Not sure what they represent, but this clip shown is one continous shot. Any idea why there are frames missing from the timeline representaion?

    Hi -
    1) You will notice that as soon as you add your clip from the viewer a red bar appears in the timeline. This means the source video does not match the settings of the timeline. In order to use this video, you need to re-export it from Image Ready in the correct format that matches your timeline, or you need to click on the clip on the timeline and type Command+R to render it.
You may also have noticed that your image did not fill the Canvas frame when you placed it on the timeline. This indicates the frame size, or pixel aspect ratio also do not match.
    2) When you click on one of the sound clips, does the other clip part get selected as well? If so, with both clips selected, go to the menu Modify > Stereo Pair so that Stereo Pair loses its check mark. Now you should be able to shift the clip that is out of place under the other.

  • Missing frames importing from .mov

I'm trying to import several .mov files into imovie, and am having problems with imovie removing many frames from each. The help file said that it may be a problem with FileVault being on, but I checked and it is, and has been, off. Any idea how to fix this? I'm using iMovie 4.0.1, and have OSX 10.3.9.
    Thanks in advance.

iMovie is a video edit app meant to work with firewire connected miniDV camcorders
soo, any videos outside the standard settings of NTSC/PAL needs a conversion, e.g. in your case, I'm pretty sure, your files don't have 30fps, have they?
and iM/Quicktime has to "add" interlacing... that is heavily computing...
if MMFlash offers some settings in its export dialog, set to dv/NTSC… direct-from-source to wanted format is allways rcommended procedure....

  • Missing audio from MPEG-2 file!

I attempted to capture some video from a Panasonic DV camera (firewire) and even with "Record Now", it would abort after a few seconds. I then imported the video on my PC using Pinnacle Studio 10 as a MPEG file, which worked, and it plays back fine with Quicktime. When I copied it through my network to the Mac, it would play OK in Quicktime, but when I imported it in FC Pro Studio and tried to drop it into the timeline, it did not detect that there was audio present. Since I can hear it through Quicktime, I am at a loss as to what to try next. Any thoughts?

    Hi:
Just to check if it's something related with FCP or with a real mac compatibility. Just create a new project and try capturing. Read the help, it's pretty easy. If you can captyre with iMovie but cannot with FCP, that's a start for tracing the problem.

  • Read a frame from a mpeg video

I need to progammatically read a frame from a mpeg video.
I have already tried to make use of ffmpeg and convert the video in a PNGs (or whatever) sequence but now I would develop a more performing solution.
Did anyone try or need something similar?
    Thanks!
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Hi simroc76,
the mpeg video format is not native supported by LabVIEW.
If you want to read a mpeg video, one possible solution is to convert the mpeg file to an .avi file. If you want to create solution with a higher performance, i can give you two possible solutions:
    1) Maybe the ffmpeg application provides a dll, which you can call from LabVIEW. With this approach, you would use the CIN-Node from LabVIEW to control the function of ffmpe. I don't know, if ffmpeg provides such a function. If not, you must search in the internet for a application, which offers you this function. If you never used a DLL with the CIN-Node, this links are really helpful:

    2) Another approach is to use ActiveX to get an frame. With ActiveX, you can control another application and can excange Data between LabVIEW and another application. This solution would also not be very easy, but it is an opption to import a frame from an avi-file into LabVIEW. If you want to know what is possible with ActiveX, you can use this example:

  • Computer Generated frames at HD resolution result in mpeg files skipping

I'm trying to make a computer animation, frames generated as jpegs in 3D Studio Max at 1280 x 720 pixels. With video only, I can use the Adobe Media Exporter to make an Mpeg 2 file which plays without problem, however as soon as I add music the mpeg file skips, both sound and picture. I've tried using both an wma and a wav file, and made sure the audio settings in the Exporter match (bitrate, Hz etc). Any suggestions would be gratefully received.

    > Microsoft's own Windows Media Encoder 9 Series
The encoder does a great job of encoding, but I HATE the interface. It is horrible and slow and has no batch capabilities.
However, if you also download the Windows Media Encoder 9 Series SDK from Microsoft, it includes this file:
    \WMEncSDK9\samples\vb\batcher\BatchEncode.exe
It is supposed to be a "sample" of an interlface you can make with Visual Basic -- but it's a fully functional front end for batch processing to .wmv. Now THAT is cool :)

    Hi,
IVision has functions for grabbing frames out of mpeg file (under the
media file group)and you can process them frame by frame. Get a demo
    version to try out at:

  • How do I create a series of text frames from a list of files?

    And I'm back again.
This time, I'm wondering how I can use JavaScript to place a series of text frames from a list of files, preferably with the ability to specify criteria before running the script.
Here's the details: I work for a newspaper and I lay out stories for the pages (in addition to the other part of my job, laying out ad spaces, as detailed in a previous thread, for which I requested another script, thanks Andreas and Jongware ). The file names for the stories are labeled for the section they go in, like L- for Life, C- for Comment, S- for Sports, etc.
I'd like to create a script that asks for a criteria in a text box (where I can type L-, C-, S- or whatever else I need) and then places all of the stories, in a specified directory, whose file names match what was typed in the box, one text frame for each.
I can't rightly tell if this is a simpler or more difficult script to write out, but I plan on putting research into it as usual so I can develop it myself. However, I figured it would be more efficient to ask first, then research, so that while I'm researching, I can refer to the opinions of my fellow forumites, and/or the mods.
Thanks again for any assistance offered.

  • Capturing a frame from a *.mov file

I need to capture a frame from a *.mov movie file, but Elements 9 apparently does not recognize that file format.  Does anyone know a way to do what I need to do either by changing the file format to something Elements 9 does recognize or by some other way?  If Elements 9 does recognize the .mov format, what am I doing wrong?  With Elements open, but no file selected, I click on Import/frame from video, then browse to the .mov file after selecting (all files).  When try to open the .mov file,  Elements says it is an unsupported file type.
    I am using Windows Vista.
    Robert Carney

Hi Robert, you can do this in Windows Movie Maker on Vista
    1) Click Import Media
    2) Navigate to your video folder and select All Files (*.*) from the dropdown
    3) highlight your MOV file and click the Import button
    4) Play your clip and pause where you want the screen grab
    5) On the menu bar click tools and choose Take Picture From Preview
    6) Save as Jpeg

how do i export a single jpeg frame from a video file in final cut x

You can also use the 3 finger method of COMMAND+SHIFT+4, then drag across what you want to copy from the image. That will show up on your desktop, which then you can edit using Photoshop, if you want too.
You can then change the file format from a PNG to either a .JPG or TIFF or even a Photoshop image.
Make sure, you have stopped the playback, to what you want to save as a still.
Either method works, to make a still image from video.

  • Extracting mpeg files from DVD studio pro burnt DVD

I burnt a dvd with studio pro a while back and have scince deleted the mpeg file. I want to make and edit and burn a new dvd. Is there any way to get my mpeg file back off the dvd so I can edit it?

You can use MPEGStreamclip to either demux the DVD streams (VOBs) back to their elements (.m2v and .AC3) which will create no loss in quality. You can also edit in MPEGStreamclip and then demux (though the editing process is a bit clunky).
Once you have the elemntary streams you can do a "down and dirty" edit in DVD-SP also.
Alternatively MPEGStreamclip can be used to convert the VOBs into Quicktime movies with consequent loss in quality as you will be converting from MPEG (a lossy format), edting and then eventually reconverting that footage back into and MPEG (thereby compressing again)
Best ting about MPEGStreamclip is it's free:

I should add as a caveat that you should only be using this on material that you own.

  • Delete missing link from AI file

How do I delete a missing, unwanted linked file from an AI file? The referenced link is completely gone and is not needed. It can't be relinked or removed since it no longer exists. It is has been a phantom for as long as I have been using the AI file and I would like to clear the "Could not find the linked file" pop up every time I load the AI file. Any suggestions?

This is the method I received from Adobe:
    > After opening the file, select one of the missing linked files. Click
    > the "Linked File" hyperlink in the bar under the menu. A dialog will pop
    > up listing linked files, missing ones with a red cross. If you layer's
    > panel is open, you can go through the missing linked files by using the
    > "Go To Link" button at the bottom of that dialog, select the linked file
    > in the layer's panel and use its trashcan.
    >
    > Rinse and repeat.
Worked for me. BTW the Illustrator file I was working on (and which I did not create) had more than 250 linked files, which I deleted one at a time according to the method. So it's clear why it would be advantageous to have a "select all broken links" / "delete all" option.
