Missing Gigabit lan in bios?

Quick question, Has anyone solved this problem with the missing gigabit option in their bios? Have they said its a problem? Return your board or what?
K8n Neo Platinum board

The gigabit lan option is not in the bios as indicated in the motherboard manual, the MAC Lan option in the bios, will either enable or disable the gigabit onboard lan.

  • K8N Neo4 Platinum ... No Gigabit LAN option in bios menu.

I have been using my K8N Neo4 Platinum for 1 year. Yesterday I wanted to enable my Gigabit lan (marvel yokun). Strangely when I entered to bios to enable that LAN ... I didn't even find any option for enabling Gigabit LAN.
I have tried with updating my Bios. Nothing helped me. What could be the problem? And what should I do now?

which PCB version of K8N Neo4 Platinum you have it 1.0 or 3.0?
1.0 got dual LAN, till 3.0 got single LAN. see comparing here:

  • MSI E350IA-E45 gigabit LAN problem

Hi there, I'm having some problems with my gigabit connection on my MSI E350IA-E45 rig.
I'm using a D-Link DGS-1005D Gigabit Desktop Switch and my other PC hooked up to it has a 1000mbps connection while the connection on my E350IA-E45 rig is stubbornly on 100mbps connection.
I have already installed the latest Realtek PCIE LAN driver from the product page (release date 2011-06-02). Is there anything else that I missed? Maybe a BIOS issue of some sort? Would appreciate any advice on this matter.
    (btw, I'm running 64-bit Windows 7)
    Thanks

To answer your question between Cat 5e and Cat 6.
It's the bandwidth that they have:
    Cat5(e) - 100MHz -   100BASE-TX & 1000BASE-T Ethernet (e-version is just a bit better tested, nothing more)
    Cat6 - 250MHz  - 1000BASE-T Ethernet
BUT, CAT5(e) can only be used with 1000Base on short lengths, upto 15 meters however it's not sure it works at all.
I use CAT5 between 2 1000Base switches and it does 30 meters with ease, but switches are less sensitive then a single networkcard or between cards.

  • Gigabit LAN requirements ? (1000Mbps only @ 100Mbps)

I'm having trouble with the Gigabit ethernet port on my PC, currently it says it's only a 100Mb connection, the other PC with a Gigabit port is also saying it's a 100mb connection but I have set up a 1Gb connection on the other PC before so the problem must either be with this K8N Neo2 or the network cable, I'm guessing.
I have the MAC port disabled in the BIOS as I don't need two gigabit ports.
Do you have to have a certain cable for 1000Mb LAN and if so would you please give me some info on it, or is there some setting I'm missing in Windows or the BIOS. The driver properties on both machines for the network adapters in "Link Speed" both go up to 1000Mbps/Full Duplex (but don't work if i choose that instead of Auto) if that's usefull information to anyone willing to help.
If someone could give me a list or requirements/setting for Gigabit LAN that would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Do you really think he would have a system like that in his sig if he worked for nvidia or msi ??? ...
        I sure would not .
Hehe , but i shop hw with my head for my homecomputing .
And is not influenced by hypes like SLI , ultradupa memory , and dual channel 939 .
I'm already in the fast lane with that homerig , comparing is like do i need to exchange this sportcar for a marginally faster one .
I will upgrade my home comp when the "overall" performance gain is worth it as an allround rig used to other things than just pc games.
( and at 43 i dont hunt for 3d benchmarks and have the need to brag about fps and eyecandy in games i play now and then )
I'm one of the old school guys , at work have all the latest , at private balance money with performance and try to overclock
and such things to get the most out of what you have, all at a decent price .

  • 845PE MAX-FIR Gigabit Lan Prob

    I just got 845PE MAX-FIR last week.
But I have prob with Gigabit Lan controller. Windows(2k) detects it alright and says it works ok; however, it can't detect lan cable if I insert it.
First, I thought it was prob with lan cable, so I installed old realtek lan card. And it works fine with old lan card.
So I send the board for repair and got a new board. BUT! it still won't detect if the lan cable is inserted. What should I do? It's not prob with ethernet controller(since it looks working fine under windows(98 & 2000) and not the prob with lan cable. Does Gigabite lan uses different lan cable? I heard it's not...then what is the problem? HELP!

I believe you require Catergory 6 Cabling, as we where studying this the other day in class :D

    Beides brachte jedenfalls keinen Erfolg.

On a ThinkPad T61with Vista Business 32 the Gigabit LAN adapter is permanently disabled until I insert a network fly lead. I then run the diagnose and repair option and then its enabled. However when I remove the fly lead the LAN adapter is disabled. How can I make sure it’s permanently enable so when insert a fly lead it connects. Thank you.

  • Killer E2205 Gigabit LAN

    Dear specialists.
I have a question. Does the Killer E2205 Gigabit LAN support traffic encryption by TPM 1.2? If it does. What software i need to use?

From what I've read about this, it only matters on the chipset and TPM. Obviously if the chipset doesn't support TPM, it can't be used. The motherboard has the TPM connector and can enable it.
    https://www.trustedcomputinggroup.org/files/temp/4B551C9F-1D09-3519-AD45C1F0B5D61714/TPM%20Overview.pdf
From that document, there doesn't appear to be much more information on network security. I've been trying to find more information on it, but it's very lacking at the moment anywhere that I can find it. It's mentioned, but that's it. No information is given on how a platform can support the network encryption.
What I'm trying to say, is that we most likely will not be any help, and you are asking a very specialized case that is well outside of what most of the users and moderators (possibly even MSI) will be able to answer.
I would contact the Trusted Computing Group, which from what I understand, regulates the TPM. They should have more information on what is required.

  • 2 Intel Gigabit Lan's Detected. Why?

    Hi,
I have an 865PE Neo2-FIS2R motherboard. I'm running Windows XP, 2000, Me, and 98 SE on my computer on 4 partitions. In Windows 98 and Me, Networking redetects the Intel Gigabit Lan. In Device Manager only 1 network adapter shows, but in the network aplet, it shows 2 gigabit lans. Why? It works ok, but I'm not sure what the deal is. Anyone else experienced this, and how did you fix it, if you did?
    Mark

I guess that you must really like "Tinkering" ...Now you have to install a version of Linux, then you can go for the FORUM record for most operating systems on one PC ....As for 2 LANS being recognized, like you said they are not being seen as 2 seperate devices in the Device Manager, then as hard as it is to do ,ignore it ......Sean REILLY875

  • Kt6 Delta Fis2r and Gigabit LAN

OK. Been reading a bit on the forum and a few people seem to have problem with the onboard Broadcom Gigabit LAN... just like me. Many post.. no solutions..
    OK.. (again) ... Here goes:
The broadcom gigabit lan works fine when I am just websurfing, like I am doing now. Or checking my mail, running messenger etc etc etc. The problem occurs when I try to transfer greater amounts of data. Transferring any file-size greater then 5-10 Mb from my KT6Delta-machine to my other computer makes the broadcom just die on me.
It is as if the chip just stops working...  and it is not the nic in my other computer that doesnt work.. believe me... been using that for ages.
The very same happens when I start up a file-sharing application or a few bit-torrent clients.. It works for a while and then without any warning what so ever the connection just disappears....
    I've done the following:
Tried both MSI's drivers and Broadcoms latest and greatest..
Tried switching to half-duplex.. downgrading the broadcom to work at just 100Mbit...
Downgrading to 10 Mbit... Just the same with every try...
Anyone with the same problems? Anyone with a solution?
EDIT: And the board isnt overclocked, over/undervolted or any such thing

      Solved my problems
Just transfered a 700Mb file to and from my other computer without any problems.
    I am so Happy

  • H515S II Gigabit LAN or not

    Hi All,
Just bought a H515S, but is already driving me nuts.
I have tried to make the H515S II run with 1000 mb on the wired WAN, but with no luck, it seems that 100 mb is what I can get out of the machine.
I have contacted my supplier, that contacted Lenovo, and their answer is that it should be able to run a Gigabit connection.
Lenovo claims that H515s is equipped with a  Realtek  V7053 Gigabit Lan chip, but when I try to install the driver, it selects a Realtek PCIe FE Family controller. I have tried to install the chipset and LAN driver from scratch, but with no luck.
Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this?
    PS I'm running windows 8.1 - 64 bits
    regards Ib

  • [Athlon64] k8n neo2 pci cards not working, missing onboard lan + firewire from bios

So while after putting the htt to 2x in the bios trying to isolate the highest htt my new cpu couldd handle by board apparently died a few days ago. Resetting the cmos and removing everything didn't help. I ordered up a new board and a few other things. I took the neo2 out of my case today and decided to give it one more shot. Then i remembered that my psu (enermax 470w) had a loose connection on a ground in the 4-pin connector that i had a bunch of trouble when i put the system together last year. Anyways, i fandangled around with it,plugged the motherboard back in and got everything up and running.Well, almost everything. My pci-wifi card and sound card weren''t showing up in windows. Thought it might have somethingto do with the onboard sound and lan since i had forgetten to disable it while getting the system up and running. Went into the bios and now the secondary lan and firewire were missing from the integrated peripherals menu where you enable/disable them. Like, their names aren't even there. Thought maybe flashing the bios backto an earlier version might help, i had just flashed to the newest for the new cpu. No luck there. Tried resetting the cmos after that, and moving around the pci cards, but no go. Anything else i might try?

  • "AMT Options" missing from HP 2540p BIOS "System Configuration" tab

I used to have an HP Elitebook 2540p Core i5. I recently got a Core i7 version.
The old machine had an "AMT Options" tab that could be used to set options to make it possible to see the AMT MEBx (Management Engine BIOS Extension) at boot time. This is shown in this picture:
My new Core i7 machine is missing this option, as shown here:
I need this option so I can enable the AMT serial-over-lan feature for debugging.
I updated my BIOS from F09 to F50 (the newest) but the option didn't appear. I went to the "Set Security Level" setting which seems to control what stuff is shown and what isn't. But it didn't have an AMT Options option.
Can anyone tell me how to get this option back? All HP Elitebook 2540p should support AMT right? Because this manual seems to indicate it:
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02958196.pdf
I also tried doing "Restore Defaults" and "Reset BIOS security to factory default" froim the "File" tab in the BIOS
(Also I tried just hitting ctrl-p repeatedly at boot to try and get into the MEBx but it didn't work
Thanks for any help you can provide (but I know this is a pretty hard/uncommon question)

  • Lenovo T400 missing "discrete graphics" in Bios

Hello guys, i'm new in the lenovo users community!
i just bought from a friend a lenovo t400 that has installed in it the OS windows XP... and i was reading in forums and other places that this lenovo has a switchable graphic card. for another one that is the ATI 3450 i think..
I know that the windows Vista has the capability of making the switch very easily. but now im working in a company with my laptop and cant install this OS.
i've read that i can do it via BIOS, but when i go BIOS > Config > Display .. i only see 2 options... select the port (internal / PCI Express) and the Monitor thing (Thinkpad, digital, etc)..
I've seen in forums that there are another 2 choices (for discrete graphics and OS detection) but those seems to be missing in the Bios...
What do i need to do?
    What can i do?
I want to use this other graphic card... Can anyone Help?
    Thanks a lot

Your laptop may not have the switchable graphics option installed. Check to see what is in your system through Lenovo.com/support/warnty-look.
Some units did not ship with switchable graphics option.
