Missing Go button in Finder, can't access Library

So I researched the forum posts and didn't find out how to get my Go button back. I need to access my Library folder.
When I click 'Option' an arrow appears in place of the button "Show items with QuickLook or Slideshow" - no Go button appears though. Anyway, I tried that and it just shows a full screen (black bg) with a ginormous Home icon and it calculates the size of the older.  No Go.
Am I missing something? How do I see the Go Button if the option key doesn't work?
Using OSX  Lion / 10.7.5  iMac
Thanks!

First of all, Go menu is in the menu bar between "View" and "Window".
Do you find it now?

  • How Can I Access Library Data on External Drive ?

i bought an ssd upgrade kit and had an apple tech install the ssd
i formatted and did a clean usb install of mavericks
i then put the standard 5400 drive from the mini into an external usb case
    it all works great
but i cannot access the library files on the external drive
obviously if i hold option and go to "go" in the menubar, it takes me to the library on the new drive
how can i access library files (i need to get at the application support files for 1password) on an external usb drive ?
    thanks

Open the folder containing the library, choose Go to Folder from the Go menu, and provide either Library/ or Library/Application Support/ as the path.

  • Finder can't access a mounted windows share - but the Terminal can...

When I mount a drive using the finder's "Go / Connect to Server..." command I can choose the share to connect to and Finder mounts the share, puts it on the desktop etc... but then it tells me that:
"The folder “Sharename” can’t be opened because you don't have permission to see its contents."
Any attempt to access the folder through the finder will result in the same error message.
Since the share does otherwise mount sucessfully, it shows up in /Volumes/ and using the terminal I can access the contents of the drive and open files. Applications, both terminal and GUI can read and save to files and folders opened in this way, but the GUI application cannot find the path again if you browse away in the app's browsable dialog boxes (like Save or Open). I can access any file using an absolute path in any program.
There are more nuances to this behaviour:
Other shares hosted by the same server don't have this problem.
Using the terminal, I appear to have the same Unix permissions to the files and folders on the shares that work as the ones that don't work.
Using Finder's "Go to Folder..." command I can open some, but not all folders in the flaky sharepoint mounts. All files seem to work though.
My guess is that there are some permissions that are making Finder unhappy, but I'm not sure what they might be. But regardless, why then can I access everything from the Terminal? I'd like to use the Finder - it makes my experience much smoother!
Some other people in this forum seem to have had the same problem with their NAS drives, but I don't think anyone has yet suggested they try accessing it via the terminal. It would be really helpful if anyone could confirm this Finder/Terminal discrepant behaviour.
    Any thoughts?

I am having the same problem but with OS X 10.9 (Mavericks).
I try to connect to the NAS via the Go / Connect to Server utilizing smb or cifs protocols and it will mount but then I can't enter the mounted drives/directories with finder.
The workaround for forcing smb1 has been applied and I find that Finder would not permit me to enter those mounted directories but I can go via the command line and work fine. The  only issue is that with a Mac, as much as everybody say, you should not need to go to the command line... Yeah, right.
For the amount of money that I paid for the Mac Book Pro, it should work. So, now I can confirm that even Mac OS X can be as bad as Windows...
Any idea when will Apple put out a fix or an update to finder?

  • Under Settings, then to Yahoo mail, I tapped the "Reset All Accounts" button, now I can't access my Yahoo email. What do I do to get my email back to the way it was?

I tapped the "Reset All Accounts" button under settings (Yahoo Mail). Now, I can't access my (Yahoo) email from my iPhone.  How do I re-set to the way it was?

If it still shows up under your accounts you would want to tap on it and then tap on the email address. You should see the option to sign out, do so and then re-add the account by hitting add account from settings> Mail contacts and calendars.
If the accounts are not on the device start at re-adding the accounts.
If you need the server settings you will need to contact Yahoo.

  • How can I access ~/library on my time machine backup?

I recently re-installed OSX Lion and made sure i'd backed everything up before I did a clean install and did not want to transfer my old archive across. I need to access my user library on Time Machine so that I can restore my Transmit favourites and Little Snapper image database.
I've tried following the process here: https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3633972?start=0&tstart=0 but I get "The folder can't be found" (see screenshot) and now i'm at a complete as to what to do.
    Any suggestions?

Last but not least, navigate the TM disk within the Finder, (do not enter TM).
When you are on the date you are looking for, navigate the directory structure until you reach the Users folder.
    Open Terminal and type
    cd
and a space, drag and drop your user name folder inside the Terminal window. That completes the cd command for you. Hit return.
You are now into your user folder inside the TM disk. Type
    cd Library
    open .
please note the dot after open. Last command opens a Finder window of the Library folder inside TM disk.
Now you are ready to get what you need.

  • TS2972 home sharing is on but can't access library

home sharing is on but can't access itunes library

I just went through a lot of noggin scratching over this very same issue. Let me offer this advice: There are three places in iTunes 10.6.3 that could affect an Apple TV's ability to access your library. First, make sure that you turn on Home Sharing under the Advanced menu in iTunes. Then, go to Preferences and under the Sharing tab, check the box that says "Share my library on my local network." Finally, under the Parental tab in Preferences, there is a checkbox to disable Shared Libraries (although if this has been checked, it will say so under the Sharing tab). I hope this helps.

  • After updating IE7, Firefox 3.6 no longer store history--back button in Firefox can't access previous pages.

Yesterday a security update for IE7 was automatically downloaded into my computer. Now the history feature of Firefox is working poorly. Often it doesn't save previous pages for the back button to access during an online session. The few times I've been able to navigate back to a Google search page, the search terms I've used previously are absent. However most often today, the browser doesn't even acknowledge that there were previous pages and the back button remains grayed out.

I got an email saying that Cor-el had posted a reply to my question. I don't see it on this page. Was it deleted?

  • Can't access library folder on Time Machine Backup

I'll try to explain this as clearly as possible...
    1) I have wiped my hard drive and completed a clean install of Mavericks.  I did this due to persistant problems with disc permissions that I could not eliminate.
    2) I did not want to take a chance on introducing problems with migrating a profile from my Time Machine backup so instead of using Migration Assistant, I used Finder to browse the Time Machine backup I made prior to reformatting my drive to simply copy all my necessary data files back onto the drive in my newly created profile.
    3) I've reinstalled the majority of programs I use and everything is looking good (no disk permission problems when I've checked using Disk Utility).
    4) Mail is working just find with all my accounts having been restored using my Apple ID.
    Here's the problem....
I forgot that some of my mail had been stored on my local hard drive.  I beleive this mail should be in my user/library/mail folder of my time machine backup.  However, I cannot access my User/Library folder in Time Machine.  I've tried opening my current (new) User/Library folder in Finder and then selecting "Browse Other Backup Discs" from the Time Machine icon and, although this opens the Time Machine backups, I cannot do any time travel...in other words, although there are many stacks of folders shown in the backup, I cannot move into the past from the present.
Any suggestions on how I can get this Mail folder out of the Time Machine user/library?  I know there is some stuff there that I'm going to have to get to.
    Thanks!

It woked to get me into my current User/Library of my "new" profile but I cannot move back in time into the actual backups despite the timeline increments on the right side of the screen in Time Machine showing they're are backups for the past several months.  I'm stuck on this moment so to speak.
Got to hit the sack...head is swimming.  Thanks for the suggestions Barney.  Let me know if you think of any others.

  • Digidesign midi timeout in mountain lion but can't access library files

    Hi,
I have tried installing an old version of Pro Tools before realising it was not compatible with Mountain Lion. I have deleted all the drivers I could find but every time I try to use Garage Band, I get a Midi timeout error. M-box 2 and M-box Pro 2 are still showing in my Other folder in the Finder but I can't seem to be able to remove them and I suspect they're clashing with Garage Band. I have tried the various options offered in this community to access Main and User libraries but no matter what I try I can't get the Library folders up and therefore remove these plug-ins. Can anyone help, please?

You download all of Apple's software and OS's using the App Store app.
Nothing ships on removable media anymore.

  • Can't access library in Photoshop CC (or Illustrator CC)

I am running Photoshop CC 2014.1.0 and Adobe Creative Cloud says Photoshop CC (2014) is "up to date"
Illustrator CC (2014) is also "up to date"
In the Window menu there is no library option (doesn't appear in list)
I am signed in (confirmed this in Help).
Is there anything else I can try to be able to access the library?

I had the problem of it saying "Signed out of Creative Cloud" and it didn't give me the option of logging back in. So I downloaded Extension Manager CC. Under Illustrator CC 2014, un-checked the CC Libraries (make sure Illustrator and Photoshop are closed). Then clicked to enable the CC Libraries back on. Then it automatically signed me in after I opened Illustrator and Photoshop. Maybe this will work for someone else too!

  • Exported Libraryto Ext Drive, Upgraded to iTunes10 now can't access library

    Friends,
Your advice would greatly be appreciated on the following challenge:
    * I successfully migrated my iTunes library to my external drive because i had no space on my hard drive
    * I was using successfully.
    * I had issues upgrading my iphone4 and was forced to upgrade to iTunes10 and factory reset the phone. (good news is that phone works fine, but its music was wiped out)
    * Now when I log onto iTunes I cannot access my library on the external drive.
    * I have redirected iTunes to look at the external drive for the library, but it still can't read the library.
All knowing forum users -- any ideas? I have to give back my computer in 2 weeks so I am fairly desperate to get this sorted.
    Thanks in advance!
    -Shaun

All....in looking @ other posts I reinstalled the most recent version of itunes and then did file>library>then chose the library on the external drive. Works great.
