    Good evening,
how do I open a photo and post online if it's Adobe Reader?

Adobe Reader can only open PDF files; is your photo a PDF?
Posting files online is not something Adobe Reader can do, other than to https://cloud.acrobat.com/

  • Missing apps, photos and podcasts after ios 5.0.1 upgrade

After I updated my Ipad 2 with the ios 5.0.1 update, I am missing apps, photos and podcasts.  I purchased the full version of a calculator before the update and now it is gone and when I go back to download it, it wants me to pay again.  Also, I can see the podcasts in my library on my computer, but they want sync to my Ipad, despite them being there before. Is anyone experiencing similiar issues?

    Hi.
You can easily restore all of your apps, photos and podcasts.
If you activated the iCloud service before updating, your Apps will be storaged "in the cloud" and ready to be re-downloaded. Otherwise, go to App Store and choose "Updates". Here, in the top of the screen, is the "Purchased"-button. Tapping here will give you a complete list of all your downloaded Apps, ready to be re-downloaded.
As for your podcasts, plug your iPhone to your PC/Mac. Single-click your iPhone-device in the menu on the left. Once the iPhone-window appear, go to the tab-menu in the top of the screen and choose 'Podcasts'. From here you can decide which podcasts should be sync with your device.
    I hope this was helpful.
    Best regards.

  • Missing all photos and events after upgrading to Photos from iPhoto

I just upgraded to photos from iPhoto.
When I opened Photos for the first time it asked if I wanted to move / import from iPhoto to the new photos app I said yes.
A message came up that said that I needed to repair the permissions on my iPhoto library I said ok.
When the library opened in Photos there was nothing there. It was as if the library was brand new with instructions on how to add images and events.  I went to iPhoto to open the library. Same thing iPhoto now looks like new with information on how to import photos and create events!
Where are all of my images?
How do I get them back?
    Thanks!

HA! User Error. Supper embarrassing. So... Is there a way to delete this request?

  • Missing imported photos and their albums

    Hi, and thanks in advance.
I've been using my iMac and iPhoto for about a year, with a (now) huge photo library. There have been no problems, and it's organized as I need it to be.
Yesterday, I imported 4 new events, from 2 iPhones and 2 Canon cameras. All worked fine. I added comments, established albums, added keywords all as normal. Fine.
This morning, I get in to iPhoto, and all of my new work is gone. In fact, there's nothing there since about January, which is just not right.
I've not had to get tremendously talented with Mac OS, so I'm not even sure where to start with this. I did force Time Machine to run each time I added the photos, but (stupidly) I have deleted them off the phones and cameras.
Have I lost my trip photos? If not, where can I find them on the original disk, or from within Time Machine (which I've never had to resort to before.) Lastly... what happened and how do I keep it from ever happening again?!
Thanks again, I appreciate all the help.

Am I to understand that something has failed then, at this point? Is rebuilding my only option, it's not that I've failed to open the correct file somewhere, or anything simple? I
It is likely that you have some corruption of the database file and it has "forgotten" the changes since January.
Is rebuilding my only option, it's not that I've failed to open the correct file somewhere, or anything simple?
I doubt that you have failed to open the correct file, that would mean you have duplicate libraries. Really, few things are more simple than Option 1.
(we've added almost 60k photos, and Apple had told me there was no upper limit.
There is an upper limit - 250,000 images, so you have a little headroom just yet.
Is there any point in my trying to learn how Time Machine works, and going back to a (functional) iPhoto library from last evening?
Do you have a TM Back Up? Then yes, restoring it is the best solution after option 1.
By backup, do you mean copying the entire iPhoto file in user, prior to relaunching iPhoto and trying to rebuild the library?
    Yes.
is there a way for me to physically find the .jpg files I dumped last night into iPhoto, as these are my only copies of the photographs.
Yes there is, of course, but it's best to see if you can restore or repair that Library. If you cannot, then you're back to square one - making a new library and starting over from scratch. But that should not be necessary.
    Anyway to get to them:
Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there. Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A finder window will open with the Library exposed.

  • Missing all photos (and collections) before a certain date!

I just imported all my photos from my iPhone 4 from a vacation to put with photos from my DSLR into LR3, when i noticed that I was missing about 15000 photos from my catalog. They are still on the hard drive. I know that I can just import those folders back in, but i am worried that i have lost any edits/keywordin/etc. What can i do?

I found three different ones: the LR2 cat, the LR3 cat, and this one that I am currently on which I must have created on accident. So, I opened the one called something like "lightroom 3 catalog-2". I tried to "import from catalog" to get the photo & edits that I worked a little on in the past week (which was about 12GB of vacation photos), but an error occurred twice. So, i just imported all the photos from the folders to the correct catalog.
Thanks for all the help guys. I will start backing up my catalog. And, next time i will know what to do.

  • Photo and thumbnail missing

I have some old photos that are showing up black, (this happened to them a few versions ago). Is there a way to recover these photos, all the information seems to be ok, just no image.

I also just upgraded to iPhoto 9.1.2 and have OS X 10.6.7.
I found this thread because I am missing about a month's worth of photos.  Specifically, the last major upload I did from my camera before I did the iPhoto upgrade.  (Where it asked if it's ok to update the iPhoto database, making it incompatible with older versions of iPhoto.)
Anyways, I am missing the photos and thumbnails.  If I go to iPhoto and go File -> Reveal in Finder -> Original, it tries to pull up Time Machine.
If I just use Finder to search on the missing photos by file name(I can display the photo meta tags, along with the event names such as my daughter's 5th birthday) then Finder will show the file, with correct date, but as soon as I click on it, it launches iPhoto, and it jumps to a different picture with the same file name (but taken on a
    different date)
Now get this, this is really bizarre.  Back toiPhoto.  If I scroll slowly through the missing photos, I just see the empty box instead of thumbnails.  But if I scroll quickly, it flashes the thumbnail of the correct photos, but as the scrolling stops, the thumbnails turn back to empty boxes.  For example, I can see the images of my daughter's 5th birthday flash by as I scroll through photos quickly, but as soon as I stop scrolling, the thumbnails and photos are back to their missing status.
When I first upgraded to iPhoto 9.1.2, I noticed that certain cropped photos I had were missing.  And the currently missing photos were displayed fine.  (At least, the thumbnails were...)  It was only after I kept on clicking around on the missing cropped photos, trying to display the meta tags and additional info, trying to open up the full size pictures and scroll through the photos, that I noticed that suddenly about a month's worth of photos were no longer visible.
I have not yet reverted my iPhoto via Time Machine, but I figured I'd ask around before doing so.
Thanks in advance for any help!

  • Just days ago, I downloaded and created folders for two batches of photos and now they are missing. They were not deleted by anyone, and even if they were, they were not found in my trash can. What happened? They were erased from my camera, so I am upset.

Just days ago, I downloaded and created folders for 2 batches of photos I downloaded from my camera to iphotos but now both are missing.  They were not deleted and even if they were, were not found in my trashcan. I have looked through every folder and they are not there. Is there a bug that can get into iPhoto to do this? Is there a program Apple offers to retrieve lost photos? Thank you.

debbie5891 wrote: ... They were not deleted and even if they were, were not found in my trashcan...
How do you know they were not deleted? Is it possible that they were moved to the trash and the trash has been emptied, if not by you, perhaps by someone else?
In the best case, you mean they were not deleted from your camera.  If so, it will be simple to merely download again from your camera after you have corrected any problem with your Mac or workflow.
If you have a way to be certain that your two folders were not deleted from your Mac,  follow the directions provided by your Mac's Disk Utility to repair your Disk (not Disk Permissions.)  On more than one occasion, disk repair has restored the visibility of missing folders I knew I had not deleted.  If you have trouble with the process, post back which specific Mac OS version ( > About This Mac) you are using so we can offer specific help.
It is also possible that the missing folders might be saved somewhere you do not expect them to be.
It is also possible that they may merely be invisible and, thus, not showing in your Finder windows even after performing a Disk Repair.
Here are some more ideas you can consider:
Restart Mac and then look where you expect the folders to be.  They may be visible there now.
If not, try a Spotlight search for the folder name(s) you used.  Spotlight may give you a list of places to look.  If you don't remember the folder name(s), try a search for the file type your camera uses for saved images.  My cameras save "jpg" files, but yours may save other image file types.
You can also open a finder window and use the window's search oval to search.  The method allows you to use the search "+" button to add invisible items via the "File Visibility"  choice.
debbie5891 wrote:... I have looked through every folder and they are not there....
If you are using any version of Mac OS X, I doubt this statement can be true.
If you select your disk volume name (not the Media item) in the sidebar of your Mac's Disk Utility, you will see that the number of Folders and files on your disk is very large.  For example,I keep my startup disk small and write most of my files to other disks.  Even so, my startup disk contains more than 195,000 folders.
If you mean you used some software to search each folder, please post back the name of the app you are using.
debbie5891 wrote: ... Is there a bug that can get into iPhoto to do this? ...
I have not had the problem you describe, nor have I heard of such an iPhoto Bug.
I have used every version of iPhoto I have seen including the current new version: iPhoto '11 version 9.5 (902.7).  You can find the version you are using by executing the iPhoto > About iPhoto menu command and post it back here.
debbie5891 wrote:... Is there a program Apple offers to retrieve lost photos? ...
I am not aware of any Apple apps that work specifically on photo files.  If you know the pathname to the lost files, and if you are comfortable with Unix commands, you might be able to use your Mac's Terminal utility to retrieve at least some of your images.  However, it will be MUCH simpler to merely download another copy from your camera.
You can search the Mac App Store for "unerase" to find several apps that can unerase files, including deleted photo files, in certain circumstances even after the trash has been emptied.  To determine whether one or more of them may meet your needs, see their product info and reviews for specifics about each one.
    debbie5891 wrote:...Thank you.
    You're most welcome.
If you need to post back for more information, please provide specifics on your Mac OS, iPhoto version, which of the suggestions offered here you have tried, and any details not already provided about the problem status.

You are missing one or more photos - youprobably have a page background that requires a photo which is behind a page with photos on it - all pages must either have a photo or be a color - if you have a gray background it requires a photo - look through the book carefully and be sure to look at the background on any full page photos - you will find one or more missing photos

  • Missing Photos and albums in iphoto on the iMac (2012)

on the imac I´m missing all the photos till 2011, and on the macbook air all till 2008 and between 2008 and 2011 i`m also missing some.
Has somebody any idea why iphoto doesn´t show or has deleted all the photos and how can i bring them back? On the iMac I´m also missing all the Albums, it just doesn´t show them and i can´t find a button in the settings to switch this...
so if anybody knows how i can fix this...

Apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
    Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
iPhoto 8 (09) and earlier- run the options indicated
iPhoto 9 (11) and later- run  Option #4 to rebuild the database
    Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager  to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
1 - download iPhoto Library Manager (iPhoto 8 or earlier or IPhoto 11 and later) and launch.
2 - click on the Add Library button and select the library you want to add in the selection window..
3 - Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the
File ➙ Rebuild Library (iPhoto 8 or earlier)
    or
Library ➙ Rebuild Library (iPhoto 9 or later)
menu option to rebuild the library.
4 - In the next  window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
5 - Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments.  However, books, calendars, cards and slideshows will be lost. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

  • Once I've identified who I want to share photos with via Photostream and posted pictures, what happens next?

I've created my photo stream group of pictures and selected the contacts with whom to share them and I've posted them. What is the next step?  How are the contacts notified?

There are several home inventory apps available in the app store. Many include the ability to add photos and most would probably work on the Touch as well as an iPad.

  • Missing Event key photos and photo count

This is a question regarding the Library Events folder with the list of all events. I have approximately 560 events and 24,000 photos. The problem is with only 32 events within a date rangeof  four months from Feb thru June of this year that contained 41 events. 9 of the events scattered throughout that date range work normally. I can't identify a common denominator for either of the groups that work or those that don't. I can't think of any difference in the way I imported them or any other reason why some within that range don't work properly and some do. For some reason the last 8 events over the last 6 weeks have worked perfectly. I'm pretty sure the problematic events had shown perfectly for a while and that suddenly one day this situation started even for some events that already had been working fine.
The problem with the 32 events is two key characteristics, there is not a key photo for the event whether one is assigned specifically or one chosen by the program - just a generic black and white ghost image icon with a palm tree and sunset. The other issue is when hovering over the event icon and when it would usually list the number of photos within the event - in these 32 groups it shows only 0 (zero) but when I go into the event all of the photos are there - whether it's 1 photo or 100. I am able to assign titles to the events as normal.
Here are some things I have been told but have no idea as to the accuracy and thought I would put this question out to the experts before I did anything. One thing I had been told that was that iPhoto isn't equipped to hold this large a number of photos and to switch to Aperture but today I read something within Apple that says Aperture uses the same library as iPhoto.
Someone else had mentioned reindexing the library but I'm not sure whether to attempt that and what that means. I read in another forum and it was unclear if that would be a suitable course of action for me but that was a question someone posed regarding an ios device so it really wouldn't apply to me directly:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/5123493?start=0&tstart=0
It occurs to me as I write this that perhaps I could just export these events of photos and then re-import them again.
I'm sorry this is so long. I'm trying to be thorough. After years of looking through forums for answers to questions that have boggled my mind - this is the first time I've ever posted a question. Please be gentle. Thanks!
    Technical Information:
    MacBook Pro Mid-2009
    500GB ~ 200GB free
Hard drive replaced by Apple 6/17/13
    OSX 10.8.4
    iPhoto 11  v9.4.3
    560 Events
    24,000 photos (approx)

Here are some things I have been told but have no idea as to the accuracy and thought I would put this question out to the experts before I did anything. One thing I had been told that was that iPhoto isn't equipped to hold this large a number of photos and to switch to Aperture but today I read something within Apple that says Aperture uses the same library as iPhoto.
That is as you note incorrect - the current versions of iPhoto and Aperture do use the same exact library structure and can open and modify each other's libraries - the current limitation on an iPhoto library is !,000,000 photos (I have not personally verified that)
It occurs to me as I write this that perhaps I could just export these events of photos and then re-import them again.
No - that would not improve anything and would lose data
What you need to do it backup your iPHoto library, depress the option and command keys, launch iPhoto and rebuild your thrumbnails - which may take several tries - if this does not resolve things rebuild the library

Yes i had not taken back up before restoring it. However i was just going through some links on the net and there is a software available for MAC to retrieve such lost data. But the point is will the said software work on iphone as the OS is not MAC..
Will have to give a try to this. If successful will share it with all. Anyone else has any idea about this please so share.

  • Help Please. All recent photos and music are missing.

All photos and music loaded after 2005 are missing. It is almost as if all settings have reverted to a time in late 2005. iPhoto has old photographs present, but no recent photos. However, recent history in Safari is listed correctly. Also, Mail is asking to setup account information, as if this is the first time it has been used. I've explored the possibility of someone creating a new user, or changing home user or home user name or short name, and that has not happened. I've also checked the trash. I've also logged out and in several times.
    Thank you.

    Problem solved.
It seems that someone in my family accidentally moved the "library" folder out of the home directory and onto the desktop. Who know when it happened, but I guess once I logged out and back in either a new library was created, or more likely an older library folder was found and used. I renamed that folder to an unusable version, dragged the correct "library" back to the home directory, re-started and was in business.
