Missing iCloud Documents

Today, I looked at my iCloud Drive on Yosemite and I noticed something truly devastating.  All of my Pages, Number, and Keynote documents are GONE!  Even though I doubt that I will get any answers from posting this.  Where could they have gone to!?  I have lost many important documents and I would TRUELY APPRECIATE THE HELP.

Never mind, luckily I realized that I hadn't turned on my Mac Mini since that event happened.  So I turned it on, immediately turned off wifi, then I was able to transfer and recover the documents to a safe place before I turned the wifi back on.  The fact that this happened in the first place makes me mad, but at least I was able to indirectly recover the documents.

  • TS3991 how to find missing iCloud documents

I had Numbers documents on my iMac.
    They have now disappeared.
The Numbers docs were originally formed on Numbers '09 which I changed to Numbers '13 after being prompted when the new IOS7 was downloaded.
The only thing that I have done that, maybe caused this problem, is that I removed the Numbers app from my iPhone and iPod. I did this because I found that I only needed to use Numbers on my iMac and iPad.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

I am learning UME now a days. Mostly help.sap.com is my resource. Till now I could search this by action text only. Well you may try this if you have admin access. Try to open the link with your user id and see in address bar. From there sometimes you can get hint to action name. It may be childish. But people do not laugh :-(. I will look to this thread for a proper way anyway...

  • Can't enable iCloud documents on iPad

I had an old MobileMe account, and a separate Apple ID for my iTunes account.  My iTunes ID is now associated with my iCloud account, which appears to be syncing Calendar and Contacts just fine.  However, I have been unable to get my iPad to enable iCloud for Documents.  I've turned on iCloud Documents and Data in the iCloud settings.  And I've turned on Documents and Data under the Mail, Contacts, Calendars setting.  No matter what, existing documents on my iPad would not sync into the Cloud, nor would a new test document.
I note that, under Mail, Contacts, Calendars "Accounts" it still shows my MobileMe account listed, and I am wondering if Docs and Data somehow synced into this account.  Worse, this morning, as I opened Pages on my iPad, I got a message that all documents had been moved to the iCloud, BUT that iCloud was not enabled on my iPad.  Hmmm, so now the docs have gone missing.  Of course, I have backups on my computer, but I just don't know where they went.  And I don't know how to get iCloud to sync Documents.  I think it has something to do with this Mobile Me account, and wonder if I should delete it.
    Any ideas?  Thanks,

Solved!  Moved all content out of the MobileMe, and then disabled that account on the iPad.  Everything immediately went into iCloud, and the lost documents reappeared.  I'm confused a bit, but it all seems to be working.

  • Open shared iCloud document on 2 computers

I think I'm being dense here, but someone has shared a Numbers spreadsheet with me over iCloud, and I click the link.  That obviously launches in the web browser, but I really wanted to be able to edit using Numbers on the mac.
I thought it would appear in my iCloud documents on the mac, but I only seem to be able to view it online... and once I get lots of shared documents, keeping track of all the links is going to be a nightmare!
I've tried downloading a copy and opening that, which is fine, but it doesn't seem to be shared, so I'd have to re-share it for any edits to go back the other way, which seems rather clunky.
    I must be missing something!
    Thanks :-)

  • Any way to HIDE the Pages "Backup" filenames in iCloud document listing?

The "Backup" files are annoying to see in iCloud.
Any way to HIDE the Pages "Backup" filenames in the iCloud document listing at the Open dialog?

No, there isn't what you are looking for. Maybe someone else have a work around.
Download the Pages User Guide by going to the Help menu in Pages. there you see what you can do.

  • Mac will not open iCloud "Documents" - No Errors

    Hello,
Over the past few days, I have noticed that my iCloud documents will not open on my Mac.
I am able to edit them on my iOS devices. (via Numbers, Pages, Keynote for example)
I am able to Save new documents to my "iCloud"
I am NOT able to open the new documents from my iCloud
I am able to edit the new documents on my iOS devices
I am able to save new documents to my local machine
I am able to open the new documents from my locla machine
I have not made any preference changes to the system.  The only way I am eventually able to OPEN iCloud documents, is by completely restarting the system.  Then it works, at least for the first few times I have tried.
Any thoughts as to how to root cause?
    j

I am not sure why this works, but it worked for me.
The behavior I am experiencing happens when I open Numbers for the first time, I am prompted with the open dialog box.  If I attempt to open a file from my icloud in that dialog, I am unable to open any document, i.e. this is the behavior I am experiencing.
I opened a file from my local machine
Left the file open from my local machine
I then used File- > Open and chose a a file from iCloud
    The iCloud document opened successfully.

  • Pages 5.0 can't open iCloud documents.  Has anybody run into this issue?

    Here's the story:
I upgraded to Pages 5.0 and can't open .pages documents saved in icloud.
It does not seem to be a file incompatibility.  I am creating files in Pages for Mac, saving them to iCloud.  They are immediately unable to re-open.
I only get a message saying:  The file “{file name}.pages” couldn’t be opened.
Documents can be created without issue.  If they are saved to my local drive, I can open them again.
Obviously, this makes it very difficult to use Pages with any other devices because document syncing is impossible.
    Details on my system:
    Mid-2010 13" Macbook pro
    2.4 Ghz core 2 duo
    8 GB ram
    OS X 10.9

I was also experiencing same issues without being to open Older Pages Docs from iCloud in Pages 5.  I followed suneson Recommendation and process to the T...    Works perfectly.
Important to note you do have to do the second part in order for it to work completely.  I tested just the first half and still had issues.  Once Disabling and Re-enabling Documents and Clearing Cache - works perfectly now.  Thanks Suneson!
    Suneson process:
Move all of your iCloud documents to a local folder (offline).
Go to the iCloud preference pane i System Preferences.
Click Manage... and delete all Pages data.
    The Next Step is required:
Go back to iCloud preferences and uncheck "Documents & Data".
    Check it again.
Delete ~/Library/Caches/--anything related to Pages or iWork--

  • I have an iPhone 4 and have upgraded to iOS 6.  Based on posts regarding battery life after this update, I want my setting for "Use Cellular Data for" iCloud Documents to remain off.  However, it keeps turning back on...can I avoid this?

I also wanted to note that this setting goes back to On even if I have not turned off the phone...but it also does this when the phone is turned off and then back on.

I am seeing the exact same thing on iOS 6.0.1 on my iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S.
    Steps to reproduce:
In Settings:General:Celluar, check to be sure the following is off:
    iCloud Documents
    iTunes
    Passbook Updates
    Reading List
Check back to the same screen after 5 minutes (while not on Wifi) and iCloud Documents is back on.
It's burning through data like mad.
I know I could kill iCloud on my devices or turn off Cellular data, but neither is a solution.
Apple, are you aware of this? I think most people assume that users just don't know how to turn this off. That's not the case, it's coming back on by itself.

  • How to access iCloud documents on your mac.

I struggled with this for days and finally found a simple solution.
    Here's one way:
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YrmZbTZwoeA&feature=player_embedded
    Here's another. Thanks to http://osxdaily.com/2012/08/09/how-to-access-icloud-documents-from-the-mac-os-x- finder/
Getting Easy Access to iCloud Documents from the Mac Finder
Placing the Mobile Documents folder in the Finder window sidebar allows for quick access to files in the cloud:
From the Finder, hit Command+Shift+G to bring up the Go To Folder window, and enter the path to the user Library folder found at ~/Library/
Locate the directory titled “Mobile Documents” and drag that folder into the Finder window sidebar, or make an alias, this allows for easy access
If you poke around the “Mobile Documents” directory you’ll find another series of folders, some are named nonsensically based on GUIDs as this folder is not intended for general user access, but each one is in accordance to an application that stores documents in iCloud. Apps including Notes, TextEdit, Reminders, Mail, Keynote, and any other Mac app with iCloud support will be included.Making changes to a document that syncs with an iOS device will reflect in the appropriate app from iOS. Likewise, for any documents stored in iCloud the changes made to the folder will reflect on other Macs. Versions does not work here, so be careful with changes you make. One thing you may notice is that Camera Roll pictures are not stored in here, but there is a similar way to access the iOS Photo Stream from Mac OS X too if you use that feature on an iPhone or iPad.Heads up to MacWorld for the recent tip reminder

    hidden files in Finder
    terminal copy&paste:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles TRUE ;killall Finder
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles FALSE ;killall Finder
if it is just the user library you are looking to change:
    chflags nohidden ~/Library

  • Icloud document sync broken on one account

I hope the community has found a solution to this...
i have two different icloud accounts. One, my main account, has 20gb of storage, and is my email address. The other, has 5gb, and was opened to test this issue.
when i use the first icloud account and attempt to sync certain application (instacast is the main culprit), the program reports that the program is unable to get data from sync services. when i go into the icloud area and serch for the paritcular document, the ipad/iphone both report, that the program isn't storing data on the icloud account.
when i use the second icloud account and attempt to sync instacast. it works as expected, and sync's across my iOS devices with ease. it does fail from time to time, however, the built-in reset feature does a decent job of fixing the sync issues. else, going into the icloud panel in settings, shows the program storing one document, which is easy to delete, and sync starts to work once again.
i'm guessing that the first account which continues to fail has soemthing stuck somewhere. i've tried to examine the folder on my MBP entitled "mobile documents" within the library, but much to my discontentment, the folder doesnt exist despite my attempts find it or create it.
what gives? is there anyway to purge icloud document sync on my main account?

Your question is about *.Mac Sync*, not iSync. iSync only syncs to mobile phones and PDAs, not Mac-to-Mac.

  • MR11 - Missing clearing documents

    Hello,
we used MR11to clear old postings on account 191100. For the most FI documents a clearing document was created (I think automatically), but not for all. Is it possible to create clearing documents for some not cleared Fi documents manually or automatically? Thank you in advance for your help.
    BR

    Hi Ali Brim ,
MR11 is a month-end activity, by using this we can see the Missing clearing documents (Invoices)
For example: MIGO is happens with 100quantity but MIRO is happens with Quantity 90 difference 10 is showing in this.
when ever you post any differences between MIGO & MIRO it will appear in MR11, if you clear this automatically disappear from MR11, or else we can directly post/clear manually from MR11.
    Rds,
    Anil

  • I can't find how to access/import my iCloud documents in iOS iWorks?

According to the iCloud settings on my Mac, all Documents from Pages, Keynote and Numbers are automatically saved to iCloud.
Everything is iCloud enabled in Settings on both my Mac and iPad (iPad Air, iOS 7.1.1) and Documents and Data is turned on etc.
However, when I open my iWorks (Pages, Keynote or Numbers) apps on my iPad, there seems to be no option to import or open files from iCloud?
This is very frustrating, so if someone could help that would be great.

    Hello annac42
They should show up in the document manger when opening up any of the iWork apps for iOS. If they do not, then check out the article below for some troubleshooting steps to go over including resetting iCloud Documents & Data service.

  • ICloud document library organization best practices?

While I think the iCloud document library could work pretty well if I was iOS-only, I'm still having some trouble organizing something that works with my work and personal Macs as well. A big gap is lack of an iOS version of Preview.
But more importantly, I still keep documents organized by project, and I have a lot of project folders because, well, I have a lot of work! I'm not sure how to best reconcile that with the limitations imposed by iCloud Documents. And I'm not sure how/if Mavericks tags will really help.
The best example I've seen of a best practice to organizing iCloud documents was in this blog post from the makers of iA Writer:
    http://ia.net/blog/mountain-lions-new-file-system/
Their folder structure mirrored their workflow rather than projects, which I think could be interesting. They haven't updated it since Mavericks, and I'm curious how they might add tags. Perhaps tags would be used for projects?
Right now, I tend to just keep documents in iCloud that I'm actively working on, since I might need to edit it at home or on my iPad. Once they're complete, I move them to the respective project folder on the Mac. Dropbox keeps the project folders in sync, which makes iCloud Documents feel redundant.
This workflow still feels klugy to me.
Basically, I'm asking, have you effectively incorporated iCloud Documents into your Mac workflow? What are your best practice recommendations?
    Thanks.
    Paul

I have seen projects where they are specific to having DT_, MT_ prefixes and also projects which dont use them.
Even though you dont have a DT_ or MT_ prefix for DT and MT, it would be essential to have AA, OA, OS, IS etc defining a message or service interface that will give you an idea of the mode and direction of the interface.
On a generic term, i strongly feel that the naming conventions suggested by the document is quite enough to accommodate a large number of projects unless something very specific pops up.

  • Is there a way to password protect iCloud documents?

Is There a way to password protect iCloud documents on my Mac and on iPad?

Roger not so fast. Check this out: I own a studio with about 8 staff ranging from accounts, editors, creative directors and client services. Sometimes, there's even an intern or an outside contractor present for a period of time. So far we use pages and numbers to handle all the scripts, schedules, shot lists, etc and I'd like to also store some of the admin contents (again, files generated in pages, begging for iCloud), proposals, budgets... They should at the very least, let you password protect a folder.
It's so surprising that Apple doesn't simply extend their now FANTASTIC App/iCloud/Device integration ever so slightly in the direction of the SMALL PRODUCTION HOUSE. I have thouroughly investigated everything from Studiometry to Rule to Evernote. Bloat. Bloat. And more bloat!
Apple while you're at it, offer domain name resolution so we can actually use the email service. Right now half my setup is tangled up with google apps and gmail. I shudder at the thought.
Ps I'd have separate apple accounts for each employee but nothing beats the single integration of iCal and contacts etc.

  • ICloud documents not showing up in iCloud

Using Pages I have a number of documents that just don't show up on any of my iCloud devices (including iCloud from my Mac, when I click Open and go to iCloud they aren't there). I have tried duplicating the files and saving them to iCloud but they still don't appear. Any new documents that are saved into iCloud are saved properly, but this group of older files have been heavily enough formatted that copying and pasting would be a pain. I have saved all the old files under a similar tag. They all appear in Finder under the tag and the file path even shows them as located in iCloud, but that is the only way I can locate them.
    Any help would be appreciated...

If you haven't already tried, you might try going to System Preferences>iCloud, uncheck Documents & Data, restart your Mac then go back and check Documents & Data again.  If this doesn't help, you might need to try resetting the iCloud Documents & Data service as explained here: iCloud: Resetting iCloud Documents & Data service.
