Missing icons from Photoshop CS6

I don't know if anyone has run into this problem, but there's a discussion going on about it in the Adobe Photoshop forums. Taking it here to see if it's an OS problem or a Photoshop problem.
When saving a file from Adobe Photoshop CS6 Extended, file icons will not be saved with any format (forget about the alpha channel docs) - png, tif, jpg, psd, etc. I booted from my Lion Installer flash drive, repaired permissions and disk and some icon previews reappeared. Some didn't. No generic icon or anything. My Photoshop prefs are set to save a preview on the icons, as are with the 3 other Mac users who have reported the same problem.
Has anyone else run into this problem? Does anyone have a solution. Adobe seems to be pointing the finger at Apple but, I have to admit, employees at Adobe seem stymied as well.
Thanks,
Clinton

Ok, this is going to sound dumb, but, I found a work-around (at least on my local mac) for the missing icons & previews.
The bad: I am having is when I save a CS6 .PSD, .TIF, .JPG, .ETC files, I get no icons or previews in finder...
The good: if I rename the file inside a search results window, then a preview & icon is genererated giving me a glimse of what the file contents are.
The bad: the new preview only shows up in the search results window, if I open the enclosing folder, the new preview is gone... where the renaming thing doesn't do anything with the preview or icon...
The sad face: Apple? Adobe? Anyone?
My first copy of PhotoShop was a beta of 1.0 that I got from Nikon way back in the "oh no you can't do that on a Mac" days and have been using Apple products before that... I have never seen such a blant UI issue that has gone on for so long without a fix. Shame, shame, shame...

  • Why are 3D objects incredibly small when exported from Photoshop CS6?

When I attempt to export 3D objects for use in Apple's iBooks Author software—say, a Collada 3D model of Earth for a children's science book—from Photoshop CS6, the object comes out impossibly small or completely invisible. It will work just fine in Photoshop, but if I view it in Finder using Quick Look, open it in Preview, or drop it into an iBooks Author project, the object appears so small that it's useless. No amount of scaling it in said software corrects the issue, either.
What happened? Is there a new export preset I'm missing? I used this exact same process in Photoshop CS5, and it worked wonderfully.
    Thank you!

    HI,
Am also having similar problem with exporting 3d model into ibook or iauthor.
    Any help ?

  • I cannot upload fotos from Photoshop Cs6 or Lightroom 5 to Wordpress

I cannot upload fotos from Photoshop Cs6 or Lightroom 5 to Wordpress whatsoever. When I export with lightroom 4 trial, no problem.
Social media marketing is an important part of my business as a photographer, so it is very important for me to make this work.
    Thank you for your help.

The uploaded file has 389kb... Wordpress accepts everything up till 1mb
error message (see image) is german saying 'bei dem upload ist ein fehler aufgetreten. Probier es später nochmal.' In english should by something like 'there was an error while uploading. Try again later.'
is definitely a adobe problem, because I tried the exact same foto with same export settings, and it works well with lightroom 4 as well as photoshop cs5, but neither lightroom 5 nor photoshop cs6...

  • Printing from Photoshop CS6

Having problems printing from photoshop cs6 the colors are way off. How do you collebrate the printer to print whats on screen?

you are going to have to try and match your printer colors to the image colors. many questions involving color management and your settings in PS: is CMYK set? set your "printer handles colors"?
    for color management:
    1. calibrate and profile your monitor
    2. set up an image color space
    3. configure your printer driver for the print.

  • U3d removed from Photoshop CS6

There's a thread on the photoshop.com forum regarding the removal of U3D support, but if I try to sign up to comment there, I get a message saying that registration is no longer possible for their forum, so I'm posting this here...
With version 13.0.2, U3D support was REMOVED from Photoshop CS6.
3D is becoming an increasingly popular format to provide for our clients. I work in a prepress environment. The whole suite of Adobe products is integral to a prepress workflow, but it seems that Adobe has been abandoning instead of embracing a growing movement towards 3D.
We started offering 3D pdfs to clients a few years ago and since then, Adobe has ceased developing Adobe Toolkit for 3D and Adobe Acrobat 3D. We actually have to hold on to old PCs running old OSes just so that we can still produce 3D pdfs. Since Toolkit and Acrobat 3D are now extinct, one workaround to getting U3Ds into Acrobat to make 3D pdfs was to export out of Photoshop. As of now, it is the only Adobe software that I'm aware of that was able to produce the only format (U3D) that Acrobat Pro was able to import, and now this very last option has been removed! Unbelievable, that as the demand for 3D in our business is growing exponentially, that Adobe has completely severed off it's last flimsy workaround for writing U3D files. There is now NO Adobe software that can make a U3D for bringing into Acrobat to make 3D PDFs. In other words, absolutely no way for someone using the latest batch of CS software to ever create a 3D PDF. Am I wrong? (Also, U3D was removed INTENTIONALLY?!) It seems that Adobe is purposefully destroying any/every method of creating 3D PDFs. So who's the genius that decided that 3D is on the way out? Our 3D department has been growing and getting busier over the last couple of years.
More importantly for me, I need to import a 3D in photoshop right now. Is there some other way to do it, other than uninstalling and bringing Photoshop back to version 13.0.1?

Bump, and I just tried logging in to http://feedback.photoshop.com/photoshop_family/topics/cant_export_u3d_files_in_photoshop_v 13_0_2 using the same login/pass that works just fine at this forum. At the above site, I still get the error message. If someone can pass on my message to the topic there, I'd be grateful.
I'm still hoping u3d support will be reinstated, and that 3d pdfs are saved from the brink of extinction by Adobe. Btw, if you do restore u3d support, please make it in a dot release so all CS6 users can get back what was removed in one of the previous dot releases (it still sounds ridiculous when I read it back to myself). It's only fair. If it becomes a "cloud" only thing it will only make Adobe look even worse, taking AWAY a functionality in a CS6 dot release and then reinstating it in a cloud release that I'd have to subscribe to. (I can't, I work in a large digital prepress company and we will only be getting the site version that we paid for)

  • I use my own color profiles from Photoshop CS6/Mac Pro - how do I turn of Epson Artisan 837 printer color management?

I use my own color profiles from Photoshop CS6/Mac Pro - how do I turn of Epson Artisan 837 printer color management?

Choose Photoshop Manages Color in the CS6 print dialogue. At the top, click the Print Settings button and disable any color management settings for the printer.
Edit: Correction, that's CS6 in Snow Leopard. In Mountain Lion, if you check the print settings, color management for the printer should automatically be disabled when using Photoshop Manages Color.

  • What is missing from Photoshop CS6 ???

I tried the new PhotoShop CS6 (beta) but aside from some innovations of which my favorite is the interface (The interface is one of the best innovation that Adobe have made finally an interface that does not make you eyes hurt) and content aware move tool (content aware is definitely the best technology in Photoshop, may in the future in Photoshop CS20 will be voice-activated and will do exactly what you say even to draw for you) and maybe the new brushis, nothing that new, especially for those who draw in Photoshop concept artists, Ilustrators and so on ... etc
In my opinion what is missing from the famous Photoshop CS 6 and should have been is :
1 : Live symmetry drawing (horizontal and vertical) even the simplest programs like Alchemy / Sketchbook Pro and new Painter 12 has the function they have gone beyond the horizontal and vertical with the function of Kaleidoscope. I really like how the brush works in Alchemy especially in symmetry, in Sketchbook Pro are not so good in symmetry, unless thei are round but if you have a strange shapes thei tend to function as a parallel very strange but it is ther why the famous Photoshop does not have this function ??? I hoped that in PS CS6 (beta) to be, but no, I do hope maybe in the CS7 will be,
2: I would like to make several sets of brushes, but in different windows on the screen at the same time not only a big one something like Corel Painter 12
3: If you put a 3d function why do you tried to do something like the Google SketchUP fast, simple to use and easy to learn, or a simplified version of ZBrush sculpture in 3d clay ???
Ok now let's talk about Bridge CS6: same functions, nothing so new, I hope that in the cs6 to implement something like the function of ACDSee Photo Manager 12 for example:
Preview Thumbnails in a files, shortcuts that can be modified, such as double click I want to open fullscreen preview not send in photoshop or Camera Raw etc, why not the same as Photoshop, to make what I want to what I want, preview window to have the option of framing the image even if it is small or large (fit image, reduce or enlarge) the same for full screen mode the image will be framed by the edges of the screen (fit image height or widthand reduce or enlarge) from there if you want 100%, 200% etc. and many others
What is right, there are many other features that I like and love in Bridge much more than ACDSee 12 such as preview multiple images at the same time in preview window and Review Mode (one of my favorite) and many others but ...   ... What was more important to me I said maybe for someone else is something else missing ...

…Why on earth would you want to restrict Photoshop?…
Because I may consider it to be bloated already?
Because I don't need to be driving around in a motor home when my car fills my needs?
Because I don't need a hammer that doubles as a screwdriver or water-heater when I need to drive a nail?
Because a scalpel may be more useful for my purposes than a Swiss-army knife?
Because I would prefer the engineering team to work on refining existing features and improving stability rather than add features that are better served in drawing and painting applications?
Because I'm not particularly impressed by some of the new "features"?
Because I would prefer to see improvements to the History panel as have been suggested and requested over the years?
I could think of many more such reasons why.

    Duh!    Precisely!
Software bloat adds to the cost of developing and maintaining an application, delays the release of bug fixes and genuine improvements of existing features and eventually demands greater hardware resources.

  • Shared menu missing when saving from Photoshop CS6

I'm using Yosemite on an iMac and I am currently connected to two servers. I can open and save files from just about every application except Photoshop CS6. For example, I click File > Open and the shared menu isn't there with the servers listed underneath. Also, if I try to Save As, that dialog box is missing the shared menu with the servers listed as well. I've been working around it by opening files from Finder, or by opening recent folders from those servers, but if the server I need to save to isn't recent, it becomes a problem. I'm a graphic designer and I work with Photoshop a lot, so I really need this to work. Is there a preference I'm not seeing that will put the shared menu back on the Open and Save As dialog boxes?

I take that back. I just downloaded the update 10.10.1 and the shared menu is back. Thank you! That makes my life so much easier!

  • Button to show images side-by-side missing from Photoshop CS6 toolbar

In Photoshop CS6, a very important button is missing from the toolbar — the one to show two images side-by-side or above-and-below, and multiple images in other arrangements.  I need this button — it’s an important part of my.  (BTW, the button is still in Illustrator CS6.)

the changes have negatively impacted productivity
I'm not seeing that, and I can't agree with your assessment.  In using it all day every day since the public beta was made available, Ps CS6 has clearly improved my ability to go from raw file to finished product more quickly and reliably, and with better results at the end.  It's not THAT hard to re-learn where to find the window arrangement functions - give it a week.  Positionally the menu is almost in the same place the button used to be.

  • Crop Tool Missing From Photoshop CS6 Toolbar

I am trying to use the crop tool but it appears to be missing from the toolbar on the left.  I have Photoshop CS6 and I simply can't work out how to find the tool.  Can someone help me out please?

Is it hidden behind the Slice tool?   Any tools with a little triangle in the bottom right corner, have move tools behind them.
You could use the keyboard short cut 'c', but if the Crop tool is hidden, keep pressing Shift c until you see it.

  • Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer ejects 3.8 in of a 4X6 paper and prints only 2.2 in of the image printing from Photoshop CS6, I'm sure I set everything correctly - what could I be missing?

Using Mac Pro running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) & editing & printing from Photoshop CS 6.
Have new Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer and set it up yesterday.  First thing printed was a
document from MS Word (a letter) 8.5 X 11 plain paper - this came out OK.  Next I fire up
Photoshop and open a 4 X 6 inch image to do a test print.  I set it up in the print dialog as
4X6 paper, Canon's Pro Glossy paper profile, rear tray, standard print quality, Photoshop
manages the color.  I load the paper in the rear tray close the covers and hit print.  Now, when
it starts to print the printer moves about 3.8 inches of paper out of the printer and starts printing
on the remaining 2.2 inches then spits the paper out.  It does this in Photoshop (any image it doesn't
matter), and it does it printing from Capture NX.  I have been able to get it to print on the paper
correctly using Apple's Preview program but that that's not going to do me any good.  I was on
the phone with Canon tech support for about 2 hours and they were completely puzzled suggesting
I would have to use Canon's printing apps instead to print - that doesn't do me any good either.
I want to be able to print from Photoshop.  Any one every heard of this or experienced the same
    problem? Thanks JamesD!

Hello again. I recognize that a print is good if you like it and bad if you don't, despite what others might say, but I will at least share my experiences. They might help you or others who are following this thread.
My monitor is calibrated with Spyder 3. Gamma 2.2, 6500K, 83 cd/m^2. Contrast at 50%; brightness about 52%. My monitor lets me choose blackness level - it defaults to 50%.
When I print the test image I linked to above, using Lightroom, with no adjustments, my technical output is as follows:
Middle step wedge shows twelve disticnt steps. Whitest step is color of unprinted paper.
It varies from paper to paper, but I can discerne at least the 252 step and on some papers 253 - telling me I have good highlight detail.
On the black side I discerne 8 or 10, nothing lower. (That sounds like what you are reporting).
Artistically I am very happy how my print looks - nice red strawberries, good flesh tones, etc.
One my monitor, the on-screen image is almost identical to the print. I am surprised that you can see the 2 wedge step on screen at a very similar brightness.
I also checked out this B&W test image:
    http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/article_pages/bw_printing/bw-test-image-2.html
You are probably aware of this since you are printing with Print Studio Pro, but others may not be.
You can print a series of test images:
find the one that best suits your taste, enter the calibration values in PSP, and save them as a custom setting. Then, each time you want to print recall the setting.
You can do a similar thing in Lightroom using the printer driver and User Templates.
There would be some one-time trial and error to that approach.

  • Change Color Selecting Layers in PSE10 for a Drawing from Photoshop CS6 (non-photo) .PSD file?

    Hi Everyone,
I have a drawing that was created in Photoshop CS6 (non-photo) and saved as a .PSD file.  I am able to open the file in PSE10 and see the drawing and select the layers.  I am having trouble with figuring out how to change the colors on each layer in PSE10.  When I select a layer where do I go to change the color of that layer?  Can this be done in PSE10 as this a drawing created in Photoshop CS6 and not a photo?
    TIA,
    ClearInk8

I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.
Here are the steps I have tried.
I made sure the RGB Color (Image>Mode) was selected.
    I selected the star layer
Next I selected Layer>Created Clipping Mask
Then I selected Color blend mode
    Then I selected Solid Color
When I choose a color the entire canvas fills with the solid color and covers up the drawing.
    What step am I missing?
The small red square outline you have next to the orange color box in the color fill layer I am not see this small icon.
