Missing iDVD iMovie GarageBand iPhoto

A while back I had some problems with my Mac. I took it in and I had to completely reinstall Leopard. They also connected something to my computer and did all this stuff. This was about 2-3 months ago. I never noticed till now, but I'm completely missing iDVD, iMovie, iPhoto and GarageBand. I never noticed because I never needed to use these programs until now. Anyways, I'm very frustrated. My computer came with these programs. It's obvious I used to have these programs because I still have icons or file folders connected with these programs. I don't want to have to spend $80 on something that came with my computer.
Thanks to anyone that replies,
Brooke Carvalho

Perform a custom install of them from your computer's original disks, and then update them as needed. If you have a retail version of Mac OS X 10.5, it doesn't have those applications.

  • Uninstall iDVD, iMovie, GarageBand, World Book 2004

    Hello.
I would like to know how to remove the following applications:
    - iDVD
    - iMovie
    - GarageBand
    - Worl Book 2004
The disk space used by this applications is really huge, I never use them. I am now lacking drive space & I rather like to keep as much as possible picture in iPhoto, instead of keeping never used applications & archiving pictures.
Of course I would like to do it as clean as possible & to keep the opportunity to re-install them later, even if it is highly unlikely.
    Thanks for the support!

Drag the applications to the Trash, then empty the Trash. IDVD, iMovie, and Garageband also have additional files that will be found in the /Library/Applications Support/ folder. Those folders can also be dragged to the Trash and deleted.

  • IMovie, Garageband, iPhoto and iTunes no longer working together.

I have seen several variations of this issue but NO solutions.
I work with iMovie almost every day; up until a month ago, all four (iMovie, Garage Band, iPhoto and iTunes) worked together perfectly.
iMovie no longer asks to make thumbnails of the videos in iPhoto when opening iMovie.
When opening the iphoto media browser, I am told to open iPhoto..
When opening the itunes media browser in iMovie, I get the same message "open itunes..."
I have opened those apps and iMovie is not recognizing that they are open.
    Garageband no longer recognizes iTunes - again, I am getting the message to "open iTunes";
Last night I discovered that iTunes no longer offers me the option of syncing selected iPhoto albums to my iPhone and iPad; the only option I have is to sych my entire iPhoto Library file.
I have posted these issues in iMovie and iPhoto forums and always am given a workaround but no solution; or I am told to ask the quesiton in another forum. I am posting THIS in all of the forums, so please do not suggest that I need to go to another forum.
I have searched all similar threads and found others who are having the same issue but seem to never be given a solution.
I have found temporary work arounds (exporting photos from iPhoto as slideshows and then importing them into iMovie; creating a Loop in Garageband which I export to iTunes to my "playlist" which is THEN recognized by Garageband and can be used in iMovie.
Any help for this will be greatly appreciated.

    Try the following:
Delete the following two preference files from your Home/Library/Preferences folder:
    com.apple.iApps.plist
    com.apple.iApps.lockfile
Launch iPhoto and then iMovie and check the Media Browser again.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.

  • URGENT iMovie, GarageBand iPhoto huge problem!!

Let me start by telling you my whole story. First of all, my MacBook has a cracked screen and is plugged into an external monitor. Recently, I tried to install Mac OS X Snow Leopard but that failed numerous times so I gave up and ejected the disc. Then, when I restarted the Mac, I received a question mark icon, so I had to reinstall my original Leopard that came with the Mac. When it was finally done, everything was fine except iChat on the dock had a question mark icon and some of my files were moved to a folder named Recovered Files. I tried to put the files back in their places, but I got a message saying I do not have sufficient privileges and could not find any help for that problem. I tried to open up iMovie, but although it opens normally, it tells me that I am missing QuickTime components, wants me to reinstall and does not play any video, just sound. It is also missing the iLife sound effects. GarageBand does not open and tells me that the instrument library is invalid. It lets me choose an instrument library folder but the message just stays there after I choose it. It also wants me to reinstall. iPhoto also does not open and just "quits unexpectedly" even after I keeps relaunching it. I have tried reinstalling the application bundle DVD, but it hasn't fixed the problem. I also cannot play certain ".mov" files because there is just a black screen with the video's sound or it says I am missing QuickTime components. I also fully updated the Mac to version 10.5.8 and updated everything else.
I am not sure if my Mac is 2006 or 2007, but the specs are: 2.13 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2 GB of ram. It won't let me view anything else and I am missing some things like Disk Utility or System Profiler. I don't know if I explained it too well but please answer ASAP. I have an important iMovie project to finish for tomorrow. Thanks

    No chance!

  • I lost iPhoto, iDVD, iMovie!  How can I get them back?

    Hi,
I have a PowerBook G4, which originally came with Panther. It came with iPhoto, iDVD, iMovie, Garageband (I think that's it... basically iLife). I bought Tiger and upgraded it. These programs were all still here, and with some downloads, were actually updated. Unfortunately, I was having problems with Mail, Safari, and other programs and I erased my hard drvie and started over. Before doing this, I saved all of my photos, movies, projects, etc, to an external hard drive.
Anyway, when I reinstalled Tiger, it installed it as it comes from the store, not as an upgrade, meaning iLife is not included and installed! So, I paid for all of these programs, which were originally included, and now I don't have them anymore. I tried loading them off of my original recovery discs, but the only way I think I might be able to do that is if I erase everything and start over with Panther, then reinstall Tiger. I'm not sure this will even work, and I know it will take a long time, which I don't have.
Does anyone know how I can get these programs, which I already paid for, without buying iLife?
    Thanks

I don't have panther but with my "full disc" of Tiger you can do it this way:
Put in the DVD of Tiger
Open pacifist-> press "not yet" or pay if you want
Open package, choose the DVD of Tiger, there choose "install bundled software"
    then click open
now it's looking through the DVD and gives you all the options
    for example:contentsofiMovieHDpackage
now click on that one once, then on the top either choose 'install" or "extract to"

  • Where is Garageband, iPhoto, iMovie with my new MacMini?

Unless I'm missing it....where are these Apps that suppose to come with my new MacMini? (Garageband, iPhoto, iMovie, etc.)
    Please somebody help me out!

Did they send installation disks? If so, you should be able to install those apps; I believe there will be an "applications" or "optional installs" installer on the disks, so look for that; which you'll have will depend on which edition of the mini you purchased.
If you didn't get installation disks and it's not a very new system and so came with OS X 10.7 Lion (those systems don't include disks), then call Smalldog and ask about the disks.
    Regards.

  • IMovie, iDVD, and Garageband all unexpectedly quit

I just got a new Mac and Migrated my old Mac PowerBook running iLife 08 and Tiger. Everything migrated and iPhoto and iTunes work fine, but iMovie, iDVD, and Garageband all quit unexpectedly when trying to open them.

haha okay i never said ilife should come with it (don't worry guys i know better :P) i just simply did not expect my installation of leopard to delete four applications that had already been there including two that come with every mac computer without even buying ilife. but thank you Kieran Jarrett for your help i am now happily running leopard with all my apps back.

  • HT1338 is the garageband, iPhoto,iMovie update free, as I have purchase mac book pro last december, I am unable to update it says "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it

is the garageband, iPhoto,iMovie update free, as I have purchase mac book pro last december, I am unable to update it from app store. When I try to do so it says "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it"
I have apple ID but after signing into that account too, it does't allow to update. None of the updates for these application are show in software update of late, but it flashes in the dock where app store is . Kindly suggest.

Should be the account you registered your mac with, and/or the account you used during the setup assistant.

  • GarageBand, iMovie and iPhoto won't upgrade

    Hello,
Since a while ago, I've been receiving every day and every time a notification saying a new upgrade for GarageBand, iMovie and iPhoto is available.
For some reason, whenever I go to the app store and try to upgrade all, I get a message saying: "To upgrade these apps, connect to the account you used to buy them".
I don't have any other accounts meaning that the only one I have should work. There is another user on my computer and he also has a different Apple ID which we tried to use but nothing happens either.
So, is there anything we can do to either upgrade those apps or to stop getting the upgrade message?
    Thanks.

I'm not sure if upgrading to Lion could be the issue, it didn't came preinstalled so when it was released, I bought it and upgraded.
Do you mean Lion or Mt. Lion? Did you make a clean install?  If you upgraded from Snowleopard, you probably bought your Mac before the AppStore was released, and then you should upgrade iLife using Software Update from the -menu and not from the AppStore. Have you moved your iLife apps to from their original location to a subfolder of Applications? Then move them back.
But if you bought your Mac with Lion preinstalled, try to log out of the AppStore and then click the "Updates" tab and sign back in. Does that show the updates?

    1. to switch to OS Xlion need to back up my word documents, excel, music, photos, etc?????
    2. and would have to reinstall applications, iphoto, imovie, garageBand??????
i am sorry, i am new to mac plis

I would certainly back up everything to an external drive, preferable a bootable clone using CarbonCopyCloner or SuperDuper! before installing Lion.
You shouldn't have to reinstall yopur apps though.

  • Lost iphoto, imovie & garageband after restore

I restored my macbook and lost iphoto, imovie & garageband. I have a late 2011 Macbook pro which came with no ilife disc so i can't use that

Restoring iLife applications after Internet Restore of OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion
If you erase install OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion on a new Mac that shipped with OS X Lion or OS X Mountain Lion installed, you can download iPhoto, iMovie, and GarageBand from the Mac App Store.
After installation, start (up) from OS X.
Double-click the App Store icon in the dock.
Enter your Apple ID and password.
    Click Purchases.
If you haven't previously accepted your bundled iLife applications within the Mac App Store, you should see your iLife applications appear in the Accept portion of the screen. Click Accept.
You may be asked for your Apple ID and password once again. Your iLife applications now move to the Purchased section. These applications are part of the software that came with your Lion based computer. Your account will not be charged for them. Click Install to complete installation of your applications.

  • Will Tiger support iMovie 4, iDVD 4, and iPhoto 4?

My daughter's new iPod nano will force me to upgrade from OS 10.3 to 10.4 (not yet ready to gamble on 10.5). Can anyone please tell me if iMovie 4, iPhoto 4, and iDVD 4 are supported in Tiger? I really depend upon these for my workflow and can't take any chances... Thanks!

Thanks, Lennart -- that's exactly what I wanted to know. About once a year I ask a question and you've always come up with the answer and been a terrific help! Many thanks!

  • Why can't i install iMovie or iPhoto on a 10.5.8

i tried to download imovie and iphoto from app store and it tell me i need to update my software, but i go to my updates and there is no new updates =( help please really want to purchase imovie and iphoto

I don't know what versions they're selling or what they cost or what OS they require. Ask or look at the site.
I do know that you can get iLife '09 or '11 for a reasonable price and they also include iDVD, GarageBand and iWeb, which may be more economical overall (not sure). iDVD in particular is handy for creating DVDs if you plan on doing that. '11 requires OS X 10.6.

  • Upgraded PB g4 to os x but missing omni outliner and iphoto

    Hi Forum
I was wondering why the upgrade to os x does not have these features. In fact my previous version of mac before the upgrade has the iphoto (or a version of it) now nothing.
Very very disappointed and now with the new os coming up I am upset that I will lose even more features.
So wondering if anyone knows why mac did not give these features in the upgade? My mac mini has them but my laptop which has more power does not.
    Thanks in advance.

iPhoto is not part of MacOS - it's part of the iLife suite of applications (iTunes, iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD and Garageband). Omni Outliner is also not part of MacOS.
Thus, if you upgraded a powerbook by installing a new version of MacOS, you may have lost some software you previously had on it (depending on how you did the upgrade). You may be able to recover these applications by installing from disks supplied with the powerbook of course.

  • How do I update iMovie and iPhoto? it tells me "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."

I have been trying to update imovie and iphoto but i keep getting the same message and dont know how to go about it. Help please!

You obviously haven't bothered to read the software license agreement that covers iPhoto.
    It states exactly what I have been explaining to folks that you now come along and contradict;
    http://www.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/iPhoto.pdf (underlining mine)
    B. If you obtained the Apple Software preinstalled by Apple on Apple-branded hardware, in order to use the Apple Software on more than one of the Apple-branded computers you own or control under the Mac App Store Product Usage Rules, you must log in to the Mac App Store and associate the Apple Software with your Mac App Store account. If you choose not to associate the preinstalled Apple Software with your Mac App Store account, you are permitted to install, use and run one (1) copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple-branded computer at any one time. Please also note that by choosing to associate the preinstalled Apple Software with your Mac App Store account, you will also associate any other Apple software applications (i.e., iMovie and GarageBand) that are provided to you as part of the same preinstalled application bundle.
You have been lucky, because they realized that you were not intelligent enough to work with logically or to understand the license agreement, the Apple employees likely gave you these redemption codes to get rid of you. I seriously doubt that Apple is going to make a policy and give every user redemtion codes because they fail to read the terms of use and fail to associate their iLfe apps to their Apple ID correctly.
There is no bug. It works this way by design.
