Missing Images in flash help output

Hi,
I am using RH 9 to generate FlashHelp.
Everything is fine except two images go missing in the output.
I tried generating several times.
Deleted the image and re-inserted.
Nothing wrong with the image file. It is the same as the other images.
Other images are appearing. I don't know what happended to these two.
Can you please help?
Regards,
Faith

Hi there
Personally, I'd be surprised to find that adding to Baggage will help. I have a gut feeling that something is fundamentally wrong here.
I'd like to see a screen capture of the Project Manager pod showing the image list as well as a topic showing the HTML code where it is calling the image.
Cheers... Rick

  • Flash Help Output

    Hello,
I have Robohelp 5x and using Word 2002 and I recented updated
to CS3 (suite). For all of my flash help output I use the started
blue skin, have a generic TOC and a small glossary. Typically I
make my updates and then go to View Primary layout and the help
files will generate/regenerate and everything is fine.
Well, it's not working any more. I suspect from what I've
read here it had something to do with Flash, but I am not sure. Has
anyone else had this problem or know a work around? I'm at a loss.
    Thanks,
    Mimi

    Thank you for writing back.
I wasn't seeing anything after making my updates. I thought
it may have been a Flash 9 issue with security. It turns out that
it may have been a permission problem. I did not know or am not
100% sure what happens when a user needs to publish content. When I
compared the previous output files to what was being created
without administrator permission the were about 100 or so less
    files compiled.
This forum is very helpful and I appreciate the help. If
anyone has a recommendation what I should read to learn more about
output files and permissions I'd gladly take them. My problem is
working now after my admin rights were added back on my local
machine. It would be nice to be able to have some back up
documentation incase I have to argue with my IT department to get
admin rights restored should it happen again.
    Thanks!
    Mimi

  • Sharing images between multiple help outputs

    Hi Everyone,
Question: does anyone know if it is possible to have an image repository that sits outside of the help SSL such that multiple Webhelp systems can reference a common image repository?
I'm using Rh10 to write help in English which then gets translated into many languages.
The problem we face is that our installation DVD is now huge thanks to all these different help langauge resources.
The images are repeated within each different language output.
Thus I was asked recently if there are any efficiencies possible here - for example by sharing images (that are common to each language output) in one central folder.
It makes a lot of sense, but as far as I can see it's not possible in Rh10.
    Can anyone confirm or deny?
    Many thanks in advance.
    Cheers,
    Andy

You can have a Resource Manager for images but that is only so that you can ensure an image used in a project is the same as that repository. It is copied into each project and you get a warning if the two are different. It does not mean the image is outside the project.
Try this though. It might just work. All your outputs are under one folder something like:
    Help Files
    ... English
    ... French
    etc.
Now add a folder called shared images. Create a relative link in a topic to an image in that folder. You will lose functionality like missing images and they will likely not show in the Design Editor so it will be pretty horrible. Might give you what you want though. Can't stop right now to test it.
    Let us know the outcome.

  • Apple Support feedback on Missing Image - might be helpful for others

    Hi Roger
Here is my last correspondence with you yesterday:
    Me:
Hi Roger can you check my feed for error also.
I submitted my podcast (Off The Post Podcast) 6 weeks ago. I've been pretty patient but still no artwork in the store.
    RSS FEED:
    http://toepoke.hipcast.com/rss/offthe_postpodcast.xml
    Hipcast is my host.
    You:
you have the image correctly referenced in your feeds, so there isn't really anything more you can do. A number of people have complained recently that their images are not appearing. It always takes some days for it to appear, but things do seem worse at the moment.
I'm afraid all you can do is wait unless you would like to try contacting iTune Support (though I have to say I don't expect you will get much help: go to http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/ - click on 'Other iTunes Store Features' in the list and then on 'Podcasts'. You will see a link to 'Express Lane', which will guide you eventually to some contact options.
Heres the feedback I managed to squeeze out of Apple. Can you corroborate it and if so - in laymans terms - how can I fix it? How do I get access to the massive list of my feed details. At the moment - i can only find my Rss.
    Apple:
Although this is not included under the iTunes Store billing title, this is one of my personal interests so I have researched your RSS feed in depth for you. I was unable to locate the following tag:
    <itunes:image href="___" />
And while looking into your feed, it doesn't look like our example feed, which may be a result of your podcast host (hipcast.com), if they produce the feed for you. You may need to contact them regarding this as well.
Many thanks for the speedy responses on this frustrating issue for many, all appreciated here
    Ben

Firstly, there are two separate issues here, so let's not get them confused. The missing image is a problem at the itunes Store end: the feed is present and correct in your tag. You're not the only person with this problem - it seems pretty widespread. I'm sorry I can't offer any further advice, but there isn't anything you can do, and I'm sorry that iTunes Support is not being helpful.
If you want to move your feed to Feedburner, that's fine - Feedburner provides statistics, which iTunes doesn't - but it won't make any difference to the image problem: indeed it will make matters worse since if there is a backlog queue you will go to the back of it.
If you want to move the feed to Feedburner you need to follow the procedure detailed here:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/podcasts/specs.html#changing
(If you can't easily do the 301 redirect bit, don't worry about it, it's really only for programs other than iTunes - just add the 'itunes:new-feed-url' tag as described). You will not lose subscribers by doing this: make sure to leave the old feed up for at least two weeks - the Store will update quite quickly but this is for the benefit of subscribers. And double-check you have typed the new URL correctly in the tag - if you make a typo you won't be able to retrieve the situation.
Don't remove and resubmit. You will lose your subscribers, and you will make a lot of problems for yourself. Don't do it.

  • Flash Help Output Files

Hello again - I seem to be asking lots of basic questions to
try to move along faster once I really get into the project
writing. I've examined most help topics on this subject but am
    having difficulty getting results.
I've been reading that output files and source files can
easily be confused and to store the output files in a location
other than the tool suggests. Is this a step I'd add when creating
the project? I tried to rebuild one but didn't see where I'd
separate the folders. I don't really know what output files I'm
looking for, nor where I'd put them once I do find them. I'm a very
basic user and will not be adding topics through import, nor
manipulating the True Code if that makes a difference.
In addition, my Publish option is greyed out when I attempt
to select Publish no matter what layout option is chosen. I have
generated the project in Flash. I have not defined the publishing
destination since I can't open the Publish dialog. Let me know if
this is enough information to respond.

I apologize if I wasn't clear. The impression I got from
Kathleen's initial post is that she's trying to keep the source
files and output files separate so as not to get them confused with
    each other.
As noted, I had to change my destination from the default
    (which was ".../<project folder>/!SSL!/FlashHelp") because
our Web environment was choking on the exclamation points and
wouldn't open the help. It works fine now that I have a directory
without exclamation points for my output.
I also generate to my hard drive (D: drive on my laptop), not
to a Web destination. My suggestion is merely to specify your own
path for the output if it suits your needs better. If I'm playing
with fire, I haven't burned my fingers yet... :) My help gets moved
to a server when the rest of our Web applications get deployed, so
I don't use the step of publishing to a Web server myself.
Kathleen, regarding your question where your source files are
added: When you create a new project, the dialog asks you to pick a
primary layout, then the next screen includes a field called "Enter
the location for the project." That directory is where your source
files are stored, including the .xpj project file that opens your
project in RoboHelp. If you're opening your project by first
opening RoboHelp and then selecting your project from the list of
projects, one way you can find your project source files is by
searching your hard drive for ".xpj" in the file name.
Hope this is some help (and that I'm not creating more
    confusion than I'm eliminating...)!

  • Issues with Flash Help output

Hello there, hoping to get some advice on a couple issues
    with RoboHelp.
We just started deploying FlashHelp here, and have run into a
couple of snags. I am running RoboHelp version 6, Flash player
version 9, and have the Flash authoring software (if needed), but
that’s version MX 2004. We’re running IE 6 and Windows
    XP Pro.
    Question 1
In a FlashHelp (generated) project, when on the Index tab, if
I use the search box to search for an index word, the following
error displays: "A script in this movie is causing Adobe Flash
Player 9 to run slowly. If it continues to run, your computer may
become unresponsive. Do you wish to abort the script?" If I tell it
NOT to abort the script, the computer still runs slowly. If I tell
it to go ahead and abort the script, Internet Explorer freezes up.
I asked our in-house web team and Flash development team to
look at the index issue, and they discovered something strange. The
index only breaks if the index word entered starts with the letter
    A. Has that ever happened to anyone else? We’ve tried
multiple help projects on multiple boxes (computers), and results
have been very inconsistent. Sometimes it breaks, sometimes not,
but ONLY when the index entry starts with an A.
Is there something that I can change in the code anywhere to
prevent that from happening in the first place? Alternately, is
there a way to change the skin to completely remove that input
field from the index? It's not necessary to our process to have it
there, so long as the index entries are there with the scroll bar.
Note: We’re just using the Flash Default skin –
    no modifications.
    Question 2
One of my latest help projects is context-sensitive. When
called from within the application (F1) the proper topic displays.
However, the TOC always shows the default book - it does not expand
to match to where the user really is within the help.
Even stranger (to me), the TOC works just fine for the
first-level and second-level books and pages. However, anything
third level or deeper, the TOC behaves as described above -
defaulting to the welcome page book.
All the books are books with links (to topics), if that
matters. Also, I tried generating the project as WebHelp, and had
the same results - the TOC still would not automatically populate
when called as CSH from within the application.
In all other respects, things seem to be functioning just
    fine.
I downloaded the trial version of RoboHelp 7, and had the
    same issues.
    Thanks so much!

I can recreate the problem but I haven't seen it reported
before. WebHelp has an option that would let you avoid the input
box in the Index but not FlashHelp.
There is information in Snippet 1 on my site about TOC
synchronisation but I don't know if it will help with FlashHelp.
Please report this bug via the Adobe site.

  • Missing images iPhoto 11 - HELP PLEASE

So once again a huge amount of my images from iPhoto 11 have mysteriously disappeared from both my events and albums. I've done the photo Library First Aid (below) and it's not worked.
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
I've also tried to restore from my time machine but that hasn't worked either. I did have this problem a few months ago and fixed it using the methods above. I'm starting to panic now though as I have a huge amount of important images that I can no longer see of find.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Ok so to answer the question from CellarDwellr, yes I do have that box ticked. Ive also included a screen shot showing the black boxes. Ive also included screen shots showing what the albums and files look like/
    Events
    Albums
    Individual files
To Old Toad, my file size is just over 3GB. This is for around 5000 images. Ive also attached a screenshot of iPhoto info panel.
I hope this helps … as it will the obviously help me too!
    Merry Christmas

  • Text editable in images in flash Please help

    Hello
    Dear All Friends
I want to make text editable in images in flash to get copy from text
    can i Make this
    and other question please
can i convert text in image in flash to normal string ?
    please help
    Thank you

Images do not store text data in any isolateable manner, it is comprised of just pixels like anything else in the image.  You would need to develop some form of complicated text recognition program to be able to extract text from an image, and I don't believe anyone has.

  • Help using image in Flash please..........

    Hi all,
Posted a question the other day and still no answer to solve my problem and it is driving me mad
I am trying to use an image created in Fireworks that has gradients in it (please see attached pic).
For some reason Flash makes the image look real bad. I have tried importing into Flash as a PNG and as a JPEG, it still looks dreadful.
I am now wondering if I can create a Flash document using 'transparency' as a background then import over the image on the website however from what I can see I cannot create a transparent stage that is transparent in Flash, it has to be a colour. Is this the case or am I missing something????
Please can someone give me some idea on how to overcome this.
I cant believe I can make an image in Fireworks that Flash can then not maintain the quality. Seems soooooooo simple but yet doesn't work.
    Helpppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppppp

    Hi Ned,
Thank you for sorting my other post out, good of you.
Not sure how to post a screen of what I see on here, will have a go.
I will also try your option imports however I am sure I have played and imported every way I can and it still isn't keeping the image clear.
If your able to import my image and it looks fine then I guess I 'must' be doing something wrong!
All I can say is it is like the resolution in Flash is not right. In Fireworks I can increase the resolution to make images better in quality, it seems in Flash I can't so the result, to me anyway, is that the imported image isn't clear.
When I import the image to Flash the beveled highlighted line is not clear, as it should be, it looks slightly out of focus.

  • Missing images in Word Document

I am having a problem with some missing images when I
generate a Word document from RoboHelp HTML. I have seen similar
problems in these forums and have tried the solutions without
success. I have Word 2002 SP3. I have images in my document that
have conditional tags applied to them. Up until now, I have not had
any trouble with them generating in Word. I added some more images
(using RH to import them into my doc) and I set up the conditional
tags to print those and not the others. In some cases, the images
are generated and in others they are not. There is no X in its
place just a blank line. I have tried erasing the .CPD file and
re-generating. I have tried removing and re-inserting the image.
Also, if I generate the html web help, the images are all there. No
problem. I have tried embedding the images and using links and get
the same result. I have not tried to just generate the PDF because
I need to tweak the document in Word first before generating the
PDF to make everything look good.
I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Robohelp. That didn't
help either. The image properties all have none (not left or
right). I am running out of ideas to solve this problem. Everything
worked great before so I can't figure out what could possibly be
wrong especially since the webhelp is fine. I also tried moving the
project to my C drive. No change either. The project usually
    resides on a network drive.
If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it since I have a
document to print for a customer ASAP! Thank you in advance.
    Evelyn

I have been suffering with this problem of missing graphics for some time, even with RoboHelp 8. However, it now seems that I have found the answer and just in case anyone else is still having this problem I thought I would share what worked for me.
After doing some Google searching I found the web site: http://www.gmayor.com/mail_merge_graphics.htm where the following solution was offered for problems with Mail Merge graphics:
"If you find that on merging to a new document the resulting paths have been changed to something like: {INCLUDEPICTURE"../,./../program%20files/My Program/ProductPictures/ImageName.jpg"\*MERGEFORMATINET} and the merge does not work correctly:-
(In Word 2003) Select Tools > Options > General > Web Options and uncheck "Update links on save""
Whatever this has to do with anything I do not know, but it magically fixed my problem and all images are now appearing in the RoboHelp Word output.
    Cheers,
    Chris

  • Issue with displaying an image in flash from a user folder

There is many discussions on how to use an image rotator with just php displayed in an html page, but that does not display in flash. Basically I am developing a flash based social network and it makes everything a little bit more complicated. I need to retrieve images from the users folder to display in their pictures section. I am hoping someone will know how to output these images in flash. To break it down...user uploads image(s)---> it goes to their folder---->system calls for it to display----->it displays in a flash movie. Thank you for any help you can give this has had me up for many nights!

Are you trying to send the e-mail with the image embedded? I did it with PHP and Phython... Never done it in ABAP, sadly to say... but I guess it should be possible. You'll need to play with the way the HTML code of the e-mail is being created, using MIME and the right headers. I'm guessing the result of WWW_GET_MIME_OBJECT will be your 'Content-ID'.
Do some google with "Send an HTML email with embedded image". Even if it's related to another programming language it might give you some clues about how to compose the e-mail and you'll be able to replicate the logic by using CL_BCS.
An alternative would be to just attach the image to the e-mail.
    Cheers,
    Andres.

  • Resizing a 3d(or not) image in flash professional CS6.

I need some help with a project I am working on.
I am looking to create a simple user menu where you would input 3 values. Width, Length and Height (The scale would be fairly simple W 0-19, H 0-23 and L 0-31. So limited)
These X,Y and Z values would then cause a image of a cube in that proportion to be displayed on a simple grid. Also flash would output a price using an equation using the inputted numbers.
I think I will be fine with the actionscript for the equation but I am at a bit of a loss of how to deal with the visuals? Do I draw multiple separate images and call them up individually or is there a way to manipulate this (apparent 3d image) using action script referencing the outcome of the equation.
I dont have much experience with manipulating 3D with flash. In this video I can see how to create a 3d box:
    http://noeruiz.com/tuts/how-to-create-3d-box-in-flash-cs4/
But could I then manipulate this using actionscript?
Or do I need to use a 3d package such as alterniva 3d?
There must be a simpler way? Any help is really appreciated and if completed i will post results here for everyone.
    Cheers

Away3D, Alternativa3D, Flare3D, they're all fine. If you're doing it for a commercial basis you'll need to consult the EULA of any specific framework but here's a simple example of Away3D in action (half way down the page is a cube):
    http://www.flashmagazine.com/Tutorials/detail/away3d_basics_5_-_primitives_part_1/
Not bad for only needing this much code:
    http://www.flashmagazine.com/articlefiles/away3d/Basic08_cube.as
All engines will require some kind of "set up" and then you can add things in, primitives like cubes, spheres, etc. Then lighting, materials, etc.
The line of code that made that cube was very approachable:
    // create cube
    var cube:Cube = new Cube({width:200,height:100,depth:300,bothsides:true});
// add to previously created scene (in link above)
    view.scene.addChild(cube);
// Set one of the cubeMaterials to a partially transparent white material
    cube.cubeMaterials.left = new ColorMaterial(0xffffff,{alpha:.3});
    That's pretty easy.

    Yes, the output was incomplete:

    Hi,
The issue here is the mapping of the interface to the service in question, and usually points to a possible mistype or rename of something within your service architecture.
You need to make sure your namespace and service name here match your service name itself.
