Missing Images in Project

I have a project which does not show any images. The images are definitely in there as I opened the package and opened a raw file. The image displays in Preview just fine. I then rebuilt the Aperture Library by holding down option-command during startup. Rebuild works without errors. Pictures still don't show up. Any suggestions?

Yes. Search terms that didn't match anything. Feel slightly daft. Thank you.
What about indicating this in the number of pictures indication at the bottom?
Sth like "X images selected Y images of Z displayed"

  • Broken/missing images when copying from one project to another.

    Greetings:
I've been building pages in RH project #1 by copying and
pasting text and images from a separate RH project #2. While
working in RH #1 all the images are there. When I publish, half of
    them are not.
Doesn't RH automatically add copied and pasted files to the
project into which they are pasted?
If not, how do I get these images into the project so they
get published? It tried pasting them all into the FlashHelp folder,
where the other published files are, but this has had no effect.
More, I have to use this technique again and again (long
story ;-) so I really need to get this solved.
    Thanks.

Just to get some clarification--you're saying that the
problem appears when you are generating your output from project
#2? Or just when you publish after generating from project #2?
My guess would be that you're copying the code for the image
but not the image itself. Try this:
    1. Copy the entire folder of images from project #1 into the
    project #2 directory.
    2. Do your copying and pasting from project #1 into #2 like
    you've been doing.
    3. Generate from project #2 and see if the images show up in
    the output.
I know you say you have reasons for copying and pasting, but
I just want to mention the possibility of importing topics instead,
which will copy everything over into project #2. But you've
    probably already thought about that.

  • Is there a way to create a report of topics with missing images?

If I move all images in a project to a different directory,
is there a way to print out which topics have missing images?
I would like to have all images in the HTMLHelp folder, since
this is the default folder that images are copied to when I insert
them from another source folder. If I move all images from my
"Images" folder to the HTMLHelp folder, is there a way to generate
a report that lists all topics with missing images?
Normally, I've been using the "Images" report to determine
which topics used that image before I moved them, but I'd like a
report that denotes which topics are missing images, period.
    thanks in advance,
    ChristyG

    Hi ChristyG
As long as you only move the images within the RoboHelp
    project, none should go missing!
Unfortunately, I don't believe you have an easy report at
your disposal that will advise which topics contain missing images.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Missing images in Word Document

I am having a problem with some missing images when I
generate a Word document from RoboHelp HTML. I have seen similar
problems in these forums and have tried the solutions without
success. I have Word 2002 SP3. I have images in my document that
have conditional tags applied to them. Up until now, I have not had
any trouble with them generating in Word. I added some more images
(using RH to import them into my doc) and I set up the conditional
tags to print those and not the others. In some cases, the images
are generated and in others they are not. There is no X in its
place just a blank line. I have tried erasing the .CPD file and
re-generating. I have tried removing and re-inserting the image.
Also, if I generate the html web help, the images are all there. No
problem. I have tried embedding the images and using links and get
the same result. I have not tried to just generate the PDF because
I need to tweak the document in Word first before generating the
PDF to make everything look good.
I have also uninstalled and reinstalled Robohelp. That didn't
help either. The image properties all have none (not left or
right). I am running out of ideas to solve this problem. Everything
worked great before so I can't figure out what could possibly be
wrong especially since the webhelp is fine. I also tried moving the
project to my C drive. No change either. The project usually
    resides on a network drive.
If anyone can help, I'd really appreciate it since I have a
document to print for a customer ASAP! Thank you in advance.
    Evelyn

I have been suffering with this problem of missing graphics for some time, even with RoboHelp 8. However, it now seems that I have found the answer and just in case anyone else is still having this problem I thought I would share what worked for me.
After doing some Google searching I found the web site: http://www.gmayor.com/mail_merge_graphics.htm where the following solution was offered for problems with Mail Merge graphics:
"If you find that on merging to a new document the resulting paths have been changed to something like: {INCLUDEPICTURE"../,./../program%20files/My Program/ProductPictures/ImageName.jpg"\*MERGEFORMATINET} and the merge does not work correctly:-
(In Word 2003) Select Tools > Options > General > Web Options and uncheck "Update links on save""
Whatever this has to do with anything I do not know, but it magically fixed my problem and all images are now appearing in the RoboHelp Word output.
    Cheers,
    Chris

  • Missing Images in WebHelp (RH6)

I have built a WebHelp guide of 130 topics. When I first
start to view it, all is well. I stepped through several topics in
the Browse sequence, all OK. I used the Search box and found a few
topics. Selected OK. Then select the Index tab, then Contents tab,
and then the problems start. ALL the larger images fail to appear.
The white space is there on the screen, but no pics, and these are
a mix of GIFs, animated GIFs and PNGs. Most of the smaller images
(say, smaller than about 150 x 250 px) appear OK.
(I am viewing these in IE7, running under Windows XP with all
latest updates; fast Pentium 4 + 1.5Gb RAM, hot 256Mb graphics
    card).
If I right-click on a missing image, and select Properties,
it shows the filename, but the file size reports "-1bytes".
On one occasion, I noted that the progress bar at the bottom
of the IE7 screen was stuck trying to load images, and some of the
    skin graphics ewre missing too.
If I close the WebHelp and load it again, everything works
OK. Until I repeat this sequence.
Has anybody got any ideas? This problem happened on another
computer, so it's not just this one.
    H-E-E-E-E-LP!!

    Hi Leon and Harvey,
Thank you for your observations and thoughts.
    1. Copying images: Investigation. Open a topic in RH and
click on an image in the WYSIWYG tab. Now switch to TrueCode view.
You can see highlighted the exact code that it will copy. Example:
    <img src="actions1.gif"
    x-maintain-ratio=TRUE
    style="border: none;
    width: 319px;
    height: 204px;
    float: none;
    border-style: none;
    border-style: none;"
    width=319
    height=204
    border=0>
--- (The code should be indented as in TrueCode view, but
this forum page does not support tabs or multiple spaces).
So, clicking on an image in WYSIWYG correctly picks up the
filename reference, aspect ratio, exact size, borders etc.
    - Copy and paste this text to NotePad, so you can refer back
    to it in a moment.
    - Now return to WYSIWYG, click on the image and use Ctrl_C
    copy.
    - Switch to another topic and Ctrl_V paste the image
    somewhere convenient.
    - Click on the image, and look at the TrueCode page.
The code has copied across exactly as on the original topic -
compare with the code in NotePad.
Now save the topic (you can delete the image later).
Next, select the Project tab, bottom left. Look in the Images
folder and find the image you just copied. Double-click to open the
Image Properties, and select the "Used In" tab. You can see the
image correctly registered in the two topics.
Conclusion: Copying and pasting images takes the exact code
from one topic and pastes it into another; so I do not understand
why there should be a problem; these are only HTML web pages, after
all - unless there's a bug in the RH background database
    interfacing?
    2. Resizing images: Although it is possible to drag the
corner of an image to resize it, I teach people not to do this, as
the image quality suffers badly, and it renders the image
unreadable sometimes. I resize in Paint Shop Pro if I must; but
prefer to take a cropped area of a real-scale screenshot if I can.
The RH Help Guide claims that RH supports PNG; and why not?
It's just an HTML web page. Something is deeply wrong somewhere if
this is happening... The mystery remains: is it just a PNG
    problem?

  • Images in project

    Hello All.
I am glad that RoboHelp 7 is just about here. But anyway.
I have RoboHelp 5 and generate WebHelp.
I have a project that contains hundreds of images.
All but 3 are being created into the WebHelp folders.
Any idea why just these three are being left out?
I have added images since, in the same manner, and they
    display in the output.
    Thanks.

Try importing a copy of each "missing" image from a directory
OUTside the project directory. (Please forgive the shouting.)
RH may tell you the image is already in the project, do you
want to overwrite it? Say Yes.
    Two other possibilities:
Do the file names have any nonstandard characters? Underscore
and hyphen are OK, but not spaces or symbols.
What extension -- .gif, .jpg, etc. -- is at the end of the
filenames? I have seen erratic results for .bmp and .png files. I
think a .png must be flattened to one layer; there's some
discussion of this on the forum.

  • Albums missing images yet .apalbum files contain their references

I have a project with about 4,000 color transparency scans. I organized the slides into about 150 albums in December 2006. I recently discovered that sometime between then and now (several Aperture version upgrades) about 1/3 of the albums (seemingly a random assortment) contain no images. However the images still exist in the parent project.
If I look in the .apalbum files of the empty albums I see an array of versionUuids which correspond to the missing images. If I search for those versionUuids in the appropriate .apimportgroup directory I can find the name of the image files. Using a manual search and rescue I can reconstruct the albums.
I'm looking for a way to get Aperture to reconstruct the albums itself - saving the time it will take for me to do it manually. I've tried rebuilding the library by launching Aperture and holding down CMD-OPT. I've also tried the more severe method of removing the Aperture.aplib directory and ApertureData.xml file and then rebuilding the libraries. Neither restored the albums.
Are there any other tricks that might get Aperture to reconstruct the albums?
    Thanks

I am not expert in these, but please check out the following things and see whether it would solve your issue. (All these changes can be easily rolled back in case I'm wrong :). So make note of what you do)
As per your httpd.conf, you have chosen an automatic configuration of Apache by OWCI installer itself. What it does is create an imageserver.conf file in a separate directory and these settings will be included in your httpd.conf as you can see in the first line: Include "C:/bea/alui/plumtreeconf/".
If you check the imageserver.conf in that location, you would find a line like: Alias /imageserver/ "C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/". This aliases the original path "C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/" to /imageserver"
To confirm whether this is done right, check the following:
    1. Acces 'http://<server ip / server name / localhost >/' from your browser
This should display the Apache home page (as per your httpd.conf, it uses the default port 80; so no port number required)
    2. Access 'http://<server ip>/imageserver/' from your browser
This should display the directory structure (if its not disabled) inside your 'C:/bea/alui/ptimages/imageserver/' folder. Also confirm that all the subfolders are accessible.
    3. If all the above is right, it means that your imageserver settings are right. Please check your portalconfig.xml for the correct settings: For example, <setting name="HTTPPort"> should be 7001 in your case. If its something else, change it and restart Weblogic for the settings to take effect.
    Hope this helps.

  • Mysterious missing images

    Hello,
I'm fighting a TERRIBLE problem with my Aperture library and I'd love to see if any of you might be able to help. I've got a library with about 40,500 images. All of them are referenced and I've moved through a couple of different storage drives over the years. I just ran a "manage referenced files" on my whole library and it shows that I have about 600 missing files, spread across three offline drives.
The problem with this is, I don't use those drives any more and I can't find where the missing images are!! I went through every project and did a search for missing images and no project shows a missing image. It only shows itself when I run "manage referenced files." I would just ignore this and use my library normally but it rears its ugly head in one other place: project exporting.
I tried to export a project with 556 masters to put on a laptop. The export gave me an error that some referenced files wouldn't be copied. Problem is, I ran a search for missing or offline referenced files and it returns Zero. I exported the project with the "consolidate referenced images feature" and imported it into my laptop. The 556 images are there, not managed and looking good. If I run a smart search for reference files it doesn't return any. BUT If I run "manage reference files" on the library on my laptop it shows four missing files! It's crazy, I have no clue what's going on.
rebuilt all of my libraries, I've looked at the image folders in the project and I can't figure out what's going on. Can anyone help?

No luck on the smart album, I tried it and it reports no missing images:
    http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3289/24218107220895a27c5fo.png
I also tried the opposite and searched for online images and got 556, the correct number.
The problem occurs when I click on the library and run "manage referenced files", this is what I get:
    http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2107/242099628501416543c1o.png
The thing is, the 556 images in this library are ONLY managed - there shouldn't be any referenced images. If you notice, that screen shot shows a master file with the name IMG_1151, but if I run a smart search on the project for "1151" I get no results:
    http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3050/242099643102bbf57fbfo.png
So there are four "phantom" images that are reported as in the library that don't really exists. So frustrating! I'd love your other ideas for how to squash this bug.

  • Publish app in Beta 1 & Beta 2, contain missing images

I have noticed that when I publish a siena project in Beta 1 and now Beta 2, there seems to be missing images within the published folders.
This results in having to publish several times and validate that all images have been downloaded to the publish package.
I have over 400 images within several folders.  I know that all image paths are correct as all show up in preview mode within siena.  I have also validated each and every image in all folders, so I know the exact number that should
    be in my publish package.
What I have found if an app contains many images, one has to ensure that all images are viewed (selected) within the app.  I cannot just open the app that published correctly one day and make a small cosmetic change and then publish the app again
without validating that all images get published.
A good example is that I opened a siena project that i published and after several attempts the package contained all images (over 400+).  I then opened the same siena project and saved it with a new name, added a rating control and timer
for animation.  Please note that no other changes were made.  I then published the package several times before I was successful in getting all images added to the published package.
I see the same issue in Beta 2.
    William

    Robin,
Sorry for the confusion.  The embedded media is not the issue here.  I have an excel data source that contains the links to the images.  I can see the images within the project, data source, links are loaded into the collections, and all images
can be viewed within the project.
The issue occurs during the publishing phase.  During publishing all the images should be downloaded into the publish package but they are not.  I just opened the same project and published in Beta 2.  I wanted to test this issue
in beta 2.  I was missing over 40 files from the 400+.
Please note I did not close and reopen siena.  The next step is that I went into preview mode within the same project, viewed each image from each gallery, then published.  I then validated the published package subfolder and all 400+ images
    were there.
Hope this it a little bit clearer.

  • List of missing images?

    RoboHelp HTML 2002.
Is there any way to generate an automated list of missing
images from a project? I'm interested even if a third-party
    application is required.
The only way I'm aware of is to open each image folder
individually and scroll down thru the thousand images to look for a
little red X on an image. Inefficient and error-prone for sure.
Is there any better way in this version of RH HTML that I'm
    missing?
    Thanks.

  • After recent upgrade, missing images

I allowed the Aperture upgrade to go through. New Aperture upgraded the library. The upgrade was not going through (stuck on step 6), so after searching on the web, I started Aperture with Cmd-Option key. I chose the Rebuild library option and that needed upgrade also, and the upgrade happened.
Now, I cannot see images in projects created over the last two years. The images are in Aperture I can tell - because in Library>Projects I can see all the images. However, if I chose a project in left panel, the project has zero images. If I navigate to Library>Photos, then no photos from last two years can be seen. The search box however shows "showing all" photos - so there does not appear to be an obvious filter on.
All processing, creating of previews, thumbnails, face detection post the library build has happened. Since then I have fixed permissions, repaired library, and again rebuilt library.
The images are definitely there - because I can see the images in the referenced location where I stored them.
Here are some snapshots of what I am facing.
    One project in Library>Projects
This one has photos. But this is how I view it in the left panel.
There are other threads with this problem, but I thought that if I elaborate, then maybe some of you can pinpoint the specific problem that I am facing.
    Thank you!

If rebuilding the database does not work, and you have no backup of the Library from the time before the upgrade, you might try this:
Make a backup of your Aperture Library - an exact copy on disk with enough space.
Look at the projects with missing images and take not of the time these  projects have been imported.
Then ctrl-click he Aperture Library package and look inside by selecting "Show Package Contents" - look into the "Masters" folder. Your original image files should be stored there, files away by import date.
Do you see your images inside? If your original images are still there, you now have two options:
Create a new, empty library and import the original masters (for the missing images) from the "Masters" folder into this new Library. After checking if everything is o.k. import this into your other Library.
Or try to manually fix the other library by removing the database files from within the package.
To manually repair the library, if rebuild does not work:
    Caution, caution, caution:
There is one one last desperate method to save some parts of your library that you might try - but that might wreck the library completely, so you need to make sure you have a backup copy before you even think about trying this:
To manually repair a library see here:
Re: Aperture 3 rebuild library - SQLITE MISUSE
Frank Caggiano wrote about this method not long ago:
That's really the option of last resort it is way to easy to totally wreck the library doing this.
It's like the sign over the gates in the Inferno:
Abandon all hope yee that enter here!
I wouldn't advice to try that, unless seeing you are about to recreate the library completely from scratch.

Hope all this suggests a solution...
    Thanks for your help, all...
    T

Thanks for all this information, T.
So why are you editing a 1440x1080 video in a 1920x1080 project? If this is AVCHD footage, it's very important to use the right project settings.
That has no effect on your audio, of course. But it could affect your video quality when you output your file.
That say, can you explain what you mean by "Audio missing from save project"?
Do you mean that you don't hear the audio in Premiere Elements -- or that you don't hear it when you output, say, an MOV or WMV file?
What file format are you exporting and what are you playing soundless this file on?
And, finally, is there no audio whatsoever, or is only some audio (music, for instance) missing from your output?

  • The Case of the Missing Image

    Go to this link:
    http://fyiboerne.info/wcid.html
This page is a very simple HTML page which displays two
things: a "< GO BACK" link, which is visible and working
properly, and one jpg image (file name: wcid#2.jpg) which is not
    visible.
I would love to know what is going on here.
Both the html page, and the lone image are in place on the
remote server; however, when I test the page on my testing server
it comes up blank as it does from the browser when online. I've
tried pop-up windows, a download to a pdf version of the .jpg....IT
IS ALWAYS BLANK. Moreover, I have purged the entire site and put it
back...dumped the html file and completely rebuilt it...tried
opening the pdf file and jpg file in Photoshop and Acrobat, where
the image always comes up. In Photoshop, I flattened the layers.
The image shows up in Dreamweaver, but fails to appear in a
preview (using Firefox and Safari), and fails to appear on the
    Internet.
I included the source code for this link in the event anyone
can see a problem. The first source code appears on the page which
links to the page in question. The second source code is the code
from the page with the missing image.
    THANKS!
    HELP!

Removing the "#" character from the file name fixed the
    problem. Thanks!

  • I imported 635 images into an iPhoto album so that I can share them via a photo-stream. However, iPhoto says there are only 600. When I try to add the missing images it says they are already there. Why can i not see these images in iPhoto?

I imported 635 images into an iPhoto album so that I can share them via a photo-stream. However, iPhoto says there are only 600. When I try to add the missing images it says they are already there. Why can i not see these images in iPhoto?

Generally I would not use Facebook for sharing any photos, it compresses the photos substantially, and when you have shadows and dark colours you get visible "bands" where there should be subtle gradients, ie at sunsets and sunrises.
It sounds like you are using two methods to upload to Facebook:
    1. Sharing from within Aperture, which basically syncs Facebook with your Aperture album, so any changes made at either end gets synced, hence the deletions from Albums, although the original file should still be in your library, just removed rom the album. It is like a playlist in iTunes.
    2. Exporting pics and uploading to Facebook from the browser.
I am not sure how method 1 gets compressed, but I know that uploading hi-res jpegs to Facebook using method 2 results in poor quality images.
I wouldn't even bother comparing option 1 or 2, and they will both be poor images once you view them on Facebook, as opposed to viewing uploaded images on proper image sharing / hosting sites.
Your problem is not with Aperture, it is using Facebook for showing your work.
If you export pics form Aperture at high res jpegs or TIFFs your images will be fine.
If you insist to use Facebook as your way to share your work, then your workflow should be this:
    1. Right click images you want to share.
    2. Select Export version.
    3. Export as 100% size and ensure the export settings are set at 100% quality.
    4. Upload this pic into Facebook.
This will get you the best image size and resolution on Facebook.
    See how you go.

  • IWeb site update problem-app missing images/files, but site is ok

I created and uploaded a web site to my .mac (yeah, MobileMe) and it displays just fine. I have visited it from a couple of different comps. The problem is that I want to add/update files/pages, but when I open iWeb, several of the images/audio files do not display: shows a x-through and a centered question mark. They are in the sites idisk folder and in the laptop's copy of the files. When I try to replace the missing images/files by dragging onto the iWeb drafting page the following message appears: "the file can't be used because you don't have access privileges, or because it contains no content or was corrupted."
I'm afraid to make any updates for fear of losing what is already published.
Extra info: have family pack and am switching between .mac accounts because iWeb published to the iDisk corresponding to the account/sub-account you are logged into (BIG pain in the ***! It should have a password protected account toggle like Panther used). I have double-checked that the files for this site are only in the one iDisk account (am redirecting my masked domain url to the .mac iDisk server-works great.
    Any ideas?

The upgrade from '06 to '08 which changed the domain.sites to a domain.sites2 caused more confusion, disasters and lost web sites than the bug ridden introduction of '09.
I ended up rebuilding all my sites from new, blank domain files in '08 and the conversion to '09 went OK apart from '09's nasty habit of changing media file links.
Fortunately, I have very little QuickTime content and don't use the iWeb Photos, Albums Blog or Podcast templates.
Most iWeb built sites look pretty awful when users stick to the default page width. I start from a Blank, Black or white page and trash everything on it.
I use the "standard" 980 px page width and most, if not all, of the iWeb themes do not adapt to this.
This is why I constantly ask the question. "Do the iWeb developers actually build any websites with the application?".
Perhaps if they did, we would get more bug free releases and some of the features that "real life" users are requesting.
