Missing information when an Outlook user cancel a meeting request

Hi all,
Pardon the cross-posting but I put this question up in the iCal discussion group and didn't get any responses. There seam to be a lot of iCal ics and Mail integration discussion here so I thougt I'd try my luck.
I've just switched over from Entourage to Mail and a client sent me a meeting request. iCal picked it up OK and I was able to see the meeting details, with comments, and respond through iCal.
Today the meeting got cancelled. iCal pick up the meeting cancellation from Mail and deleted the calendar event. However, there was a lot of other information in the meeting cancellation request file. My client had suggested other times and asked for responses. The only way I could see this information was by saving the ics file to disk and opening it in TextEdit.
Is there any way to get iCal to display the full contents of a cancelled meeting request rather than simply deleting the event?
Thanks,
Nigel

Hi Dineke,
You can contact your Exchange administrator to run the following command to check it:
Get-Mailbox –Identity yourname | Select Name, HiddenFromAddressListsEnabled
Or you can view your colleague’s Default Global Address List in OWA to check whether you are listed there or not.
Please check whether there is any transport rule or Outlook rule setting in your mailbox. Also change a new computer and create a new Outlook profile to have a try.

  • Outlook does not send meeting requests at all.

    Hi all
My problem is both annoyingly simple and frustratingly annoying, but so far i haven't been able to solve it, nor has our IT department.
In short, my Outlook doesn't send meeting requests to invite attendees. (My colleagues, same exchange server) I am the only one having this problem. When i send out a meeting request, it appears double in my calendar (asking me to accept) but nothing shows
up in my sent items, nor in their calendar. If i delete the event, this is sent out; new ones and updates are not.
To my knowledge, I use the standard IPM.Appointment form, but have used another standard form in the past (which was removed.)
A new profile doesn't help, nor does uninstalling / reinstalling Outlook 2007. I installed Outlook 2010 - same phenomenon.
It has worked all the time, but stopped working about 10 months ago, no apparent cause.
I should add that I can send out meeting requests through Exchange from my iPad and iPhone, just not from my computer. (and no, they are not related - the time i got iPad and iPhone everything worked)
OS is Windows 7 Professional 64 bits, MS Office 2010, various applications installed but none related to calendar useage / sync / ...
I am local admin, this is my work PC so no 'dubious' SW installed, nor authorised.
According to the server guys, there is nothing exceptional like the forms attached to my account - they claim it's something local, but also have no clue what it might be. Even Mr. Google or Ms. Bing do not provide an answer, so i'm hoping someone here might
outsmart everyone else and come up with a solution.
(ps - i'm quite sure it isn't "stupid user error" either, I'm an IT specialist/consultant/developer - but this one baffles me and everyone looking for it...)
Added info - on my PC, when logging in with a different account but connecting to my own exchange account, it works.
Replacing forms related info from the user/appdata folder of the functional user towards the non-functional user account didn't work. (even though the information was different)
No difference in the registry as i can see.
Tried to add ForceFormReload to the registry - no use.
I activated logging, also nothing in there.
I also receive no error whatsoever, it really is like Outlook simply isn't configured to send out meeting requests anymore...
Also, no errors in the event viewer in case you were wondering.
When working offline, it is clear that the meeting requests simply do not enter the 'outbox'. (cancellations do)
Assuming it might be a corrupt DLL somewhere, i scheduled a Chkdsk C: /F/R this evening. A long shot, yes, but grasping at straws here...
Thanks in advance for your help,
    Kind regards,
    Dennis

    solved - completely uninstalled, reboot
removed all keys in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0 (the entire folder)
removed all outlook related registry keys in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0 and 12.0, also in 8.0 and 9.0
    removed HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\Outlook completely
    rebooted
installed Office Pro2010 again, and now it works.
so in short - there was a messed-up registry key somewhere in there, that was missed by installing it, or even completely reinstalling it.
FYI - all my settings remained the same, no info or config loss except the colour profile i used...
    Grtz,
    Dennis

  • Office365 User not receiving Meeting Request Email (but shows in Calendar)

    Hi,
We have one user (so far) who has successfully migrated from Exchange 2007 to 'Office365' but when you sent them an meeting request they do not get ANY email notification of it. No Spam, rules, junk email are affecting it. There are no delegates on the account.
I have removed the Office365 user license for them and then re-added it but made no difference.
If the user goes into the calendar they can actually 'see' the meeting and accept / decline it in there but we obviously need the user to get some email notification of it so they are aware of a meeting and now get a 'surprise' meeting they knew nothing about!
Other migrated users are able to receive email notifications of meeting requests without issue. There is just no trace of it for this user.

    Hi Peter,
As per your description above, I understand that one user cannot receive meeting requests, instead, the meetings are placed on their calendar directly.
I would like to confirm that whether he/she configured the email account into any Outlook clients, or actually we are talking about the web-based Outlook in Office 365 portal?
If this is an issue in the Outlook desktop client, please check if you have ticked the option of
Automatically accept meeting requests and remove canceled meetings
under FILE>Options>Calendar>Auto Accept/Decline... Try untick it and verify again.
If Outlook client is not involved here, I would suggest you post your question in the forum of Office 365 Community - email and calendar, where you can get more experienced responses:
    http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/158.aspx
The reason why we recommend posting appropriately is you will get the most qualified pool of respondents, and other partners who read the forums regularly can either share their knowledge or learn from your interaction with us. Thank you for your understanding.
    Hope this helps.

  • Error when other people send me a meeting request

    Dear Microsoft,
When other people send me a meeting request, they get the error you can see below (it says: "Your message can not be delivered to the following
people or distribution lists"). The strange thing is that I receive as well the meeting request and I can accept it. However, it is confusing for the people who send me the request, so can you help me to fix te problem?
I use Outlook 2010, but I had also this problem with an older version. I have not had this problem always. The problem started when I authorized a colleague
to look in my calendar (but, if I cancel the authorization it doesn't help, so I really don't understand what is going wrong!).
I really hope you know a solution of this problem.
    Kind regards,

  • Exch2010 Room Mailboxes - disable unautherized users to create Meeting Request

    Hi all,
This one is giving me a headache. I have created some Room Mailboxes which I all want to act the same, which is as followed:
    - Everyone (we have mailgroup with all users) has review rights
    - Certain users have editor rights
    - Resource Booking Attendant is disabled
Basically I want to configure these in a similar way as the old fashioned Public Folders.
I've tried a lot of settings / methods, currently I did as followed:
    - Within Exchange 2010 EMC I created a Room Mailbox
    - I gave myself Full Access rights
    - Mailbox is automatically added to my Outlook 2013
    - I right-click the calendar and go to properties. I set Default and Anonymous to no rights. I add a mailgroup with all our users and set that to review (so no creation of items / folders)
I would now expect that no users except for myself / administrator are allowed to make an appointment: WRONG. But a strange wrong this is:
    - If I use Outlook 2003, I am unable to create an appointment
    - If I use Outlook 2013, I am unable to create an appointment
    - If I use Exchange webmail (OWA), I am unable to create an appointment
    - If I use Outlook for Mac, I am unable to create an appointment
    - If I use Outlook 2010, I can suddenly simply create a Meeting Request. This then sends a mail to the Room Mailbox and adds an appointment as tentative
All of the above is done with the same useraccount.
So what's up with this? I simply want to disable this tentative stuff altogether. I only want people with editor rights to create and change meetings, all the other folks should simply be reviewers unable to create anything whatsoever. Hopefully anyone here
has the solution for me, thanks a lot for your time / help.
    All the best, Jim.

    Thanks for your reply.
Here is the output when checking the permissions (see below).
I replaced the usernames by something anonymous.
    So basically it comes to:
    Default has no rights.
    Anonymous has no rights.
Two mailgroups which contain all employees have review rights.
    Five users have editor rights.
Still 'regular users' (which should only have review rights) can still doubleclick this calendar (only works in Office 2010) and create a new Meeting Request.
    How come this is possible?

  • Outlook 2010 - Exchange 2013 - Meeting request "from" field

We have a shared mailbox that the company uses, each user has full access to the mailbox, within this mailbox is a calendar. If person A creates a meeting in this calendar and invites person B, when person B accepts the acceptance goes to the inbox of the
shared mailbox, not the inbox of the user who invited them. Is there a way I can use a "from" field in meeting requests" so acceptances go to the invitee?
    Thanks
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
This is the expected behavior of Outlook according to your conditions, and there is no option available to change it.
As a workaround, we can create a meeting in the user's own calendar, and then add the shared mailbox as an attendee of the meeting. In this way, the meeting will show in the shared calendar and the meeting responses will be sent to the meeting creator's
    mailbox.

  • I get a question mark next to email addresses when I try to send a meeting request and it fails

Outlook 2010, standard Win 7 setup.
I am trying to send a meeting request and when I bring up the address book to insert email addresses it seems to insert the address but it has a gray question mark next to it.  Sending then fails. Even an email address manually typed in gets the question
    mark.
Odd thing is that from a regular email I can insert the same address from the same contact list and it works fine.
Why does it fail in meeting invites by not in email?

    Hi,
When you hover your mouse pointer on the mark, or click on it, do you see any hint?
When sending the meeting request fails, do you see any error message?
If you are an Exchange account user, try to send a request to the people in your organization, I suppose it works.
Just a guess, try to clear the nickname and the automatic completion caches to test the result:

  • Contacts Don't Transfer All Information When Using Outlook Synching - Zen Mi

Earlier I posted regarding the following problems with Outlook Synching:
. It doesn't transfer any recurring appointments from Outlook.
    2. It doesn't transfer your Outlook calendar unless you also choose to transfer your Outlook Contacts.
I now have another issue I just witnessed today....
    3. I've now entered roughly 50 contacts into Outlook, and have synched them with my Micro. I find that roughly 5 - 0% of my contacts do not synch over the email address. All other information appears to be transferred to my Micro, except for the email addresses in about 5 - 0% of contacts. I thought perhaps I maxed out the memory in my Micro, but that wasn't the problem. I then thought that perhaps these contacts have too much info, and Micro transfers over only a set data limit per contact... so I removed alot of info from one of them as a test, but it still won't transfer over the email address.
Has anyone else seen that? Creative, any comments on this issue, or status on the first two?
    Thanks -
    Josh

Thanks for the follow-up, Jeremy. In answer to your question, the contacts that don't transfer the email addresses were not previously on the device. I did not update the contact afterwards and add the email, it was already there when I initially created the contact.
As a test, I tried creating a "Test Contact" that appeared similar to the contacts that exhibits this problem, but it transferred the email address just fine. It's just approximately 5 - 0% of my contacts that show this problem.
The contacts I've seen off-hand tend to have most fields filled in including: Full Name, Job Title, Company, Business #, Mobile #, Business Address, E-mail, Display As.
On a side note, when I deleted this test contact from MS Outlook, synched the device, and made sure I selected the checkbox stating "Delete contacts that have been deleted in Outlook".... it never removed the "Test Contact". Is this another bug?
    Thanks for the help -
    Josh

  • Missing information when creating a PDF!

    Hi,
We have InDesign CS4, and I recently produced a presentation for a Client. On particular pages, I placed a jpg. of an aerial map. I then drew using the pencil tool a shape, highlighting an area on the map. I filled the shape in red and then set a transparency at 80%. This all looked fine on screen, especially when I printed hard copies out.
However, when I created a PDF of the InDesign presentation, some of the shapes did not PDF!? I don't understand why some did, and some didn't!? To get the presentation ready, I decided to create a simple elliptical shape filled in red. This didn't print out either!?
Can anyone help with this query, as it is baffling me!
    Thanks,
    Ajay

  • Trigger an Event in SAP R/3 when meeting request is accepted in MS-Outlook

    Dear Experts,
I am able to send the meeting request to MS-Outlook using the following thread.
When the user opens the .ICS file and accepts the meeting request in MS-Outlook, the MS-Outlook calender gets booked.
Now the requirement is, Once User accepts the meeting request an event should be trigerred in SAP R/3 so as to track the User response. Is there any BADI/API s available which can be used to achieve this? Which business object can be used ?
    Regards,
    Vaishali.

    Hi,
Triggering the event is the easy part. That will be just pure ABAP development.
Your problem is that how can you call your function/method (or whatever) from the Outlook (or from Exchange server). So, you should really try to investigate the possible modification or enhancement possibilities of the Echange server - and this is not really an SDN issue at all (of course if you are lucky, someone could notice this thread and help). If you find a way to add some kind of "modification" to the Exchange server (for example you could find a way to call a web service always when the meeting request is accepted), then you can easily build the necessary web service around your ABAP function.
Another approach could be that you try to utilize the possible Exchange server web service API. For example it seems that there is some kind of availibility service available, which you could use to find out the user's availibility (I am not sure though that is it possible to see whether the user has accepted the meeting request or not). Anyhow, if you find out a way for this, you could call the web service from your ABAP system to find out the corresponding information from Exchange server.
    Good luck.
    Regards,
    Karri

  • Outlook users' problems with Apple mail attachments

Folks on Windows XP using Outlook 2003 are having problems with email from Apple mail. Apple mail is using Windows Friendly Attachments and Rich Text as the settings. Sometimes attachments (Word, Excel, PDF) come in fine with an additional .htm attachment, but the body text of the message is missing. If the Outlook user opens the .htm file, there is the body of the Apple mail. Testing with Plain Text results in the body text appearing fine in Outlook, but the attachment is seen as a *.dat file and of course can't be opened. The Macs are all on OS X Tiger with all OS updates applied. Users of Outlook in other offices don't have this problem, and users of Thunderbird on Windows don't have this problem. Any ideas on what is causing this and how to resolve it? Is there a setting on Outlook that needs to be tweaked? Is there a setting on Apple mail that needs to be tweaked? Apple mail attachments to this Windows office worked fine until a few weeks ago. I do not know what changed between then and now as I am not in charge of the computers at the Windows office. Could a Mac OS update have caused a problem? Something on Windows or Outlook specifically? Thanks for any help you can provide. I've scoured the web and have tried everything to no avail. Zipping attachments, while a workaround, is not a long-term solution. Thanks!

Is this in an environment where an MS Exchange Server is being used? Seeing a file change to .dat would often point to that.
Plain Text should be the plan of action for users of Apple Mail, but something (probably the Exchange Server) is messing that up. See:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/138053
    and also related:
    http://www.pchell.com/support/winmaildat.shtml
Moving to Leopard would probably not solve this -- the administrator of the exchange server must act.
Also the problem with winmail.dat files is known to impact other email clients used even on Windows computers.

  • Not able to create meeting request in outlook using desktop connection

    Hi All,
We installed the desktop connect professional edition and integrated MS outlook and CRM business activity.
Our goal is to trigger an outlook meeting request (not an outlook appointment).
We tried to configure this by creating a CRM business activity and syncing with outlook but does not seem to work.
We are able to create an outlook appointment but not a meeting request.
What we envision is the business activity needs to trigger a accept/reject/ reschedule meeting request functionality. Only when the user accepts the meeting request it should sync the outlook calendar / SAP calendar.
Is this functionality available out-of-box or does it need enhancements to the interface ?
    Regards,
    S.Balaji

    Hi All,
      Closing the thread.
Please refer this document for the Desktop Connection related queries.

  • How do I fix meeting requests/invitations default to ms outlook calendar and do not show up on iCloud calendar?

This is frustrating and seems to be a known issue. Regular calendar items work fine but any meeting invitations sent to and accepted on PC running Outlook 2010 with iCloud add in only show up on default (local) calendar. Must add them manually. Also meeting requests sent from same PC configuration are being hijacked by iCal/iCloud feature and prompt the receiver to accept through iCloud interface rather than a regular Outlook email invite, though those meeting do show up on end user's Outlook calendar. And meeting requests sent to a group gives an STMP error. Is there an update or newer version that fixes any of these issues?  I turned off MobileMe add in but doesn't help. We use iCloud and like it because we need the calendar and contact features to sync between the PC and iPhone and iPad, which works fine.

Outlook will not allow a subscribed calendar to be the default, unless it is an Exchange calendar. You can't change this behaviour unfortunately.
