Missing Instruments (horn section, trumpet section)

I've just installed Jam Pack 1. JP 2,3,4 are also installed. Now I've indexed my loop browser and all seems smooth. But there is a problem. I took 'Havana Horns' and 'Havana Trumpets' from my loop browser and put them on tow different AU-tracks. The channel strip settings load, but I hear a bleep instead of horns/trumpets. Now the plugin says 'trumpet section' or 'horn section' missing. I even don't find them in my Garageband menu in the EXS. I've reinstalled it, repaired my disk permissions, re-indexed my loopbrowser etc., but still missing. Anyone an idea what's going wrong? How to find them, or how to reinstall them?

The reason I ask the above question, is that, in general, it would be
ideal if I could take solo trumpet samples, such as in this example,
and also use them to construct two trumpets playing in unison,
or three trumpets playing in unison. And, make it sound as close
to "professional" as possible.
In this way, similar techniques can be used for the French Horns and
the trombones.
The upshot being that I would not need to use settings which say,
"Trumpets" or "Horns" or "Trombones", because at this stage,
given my limited resources, I do not necessarily know how many
trumpets are actually playing a given line (for instance, I have
SAM free trumpets and I have Pro Sessions Brass, and they do not
specify how many instruments are playing a given note, and sometimes
it appears that the number of instruments playing gets quite large
when the dynamic for the SAM free trumpets is increased).
And, I do want to know exactly how many brass instruments are playing
and control this, so that when I form chords using a mixture of
brass instruments, with some brass instruments doubling the same
note, that the effect mimics reality as far as chord balance goes. In this,
tool, Logic Pro, and a sufficient set of solo brass samples, could
be used as a neat learning tool (such as making sure that in forte,
two French Horns double a note when the other notes are taken singly
by Trombones and Trumpets, and the like). Although, there are other
concerns with forming brass chords, so Logic Pro potentially becomes
a neat test bed for more unusual set-ups and configurations of complex
brass chords.
Also, of course, I'd like a solo brass instrument to sound more realistic
and "not in your face".

Sitting Solo Trumpet or Trumpet Section in the Orchestra

Hi,
This is a multi-setup question. Anyone with Logic Pro can set things up
exactly as I have them, for this question.
The first part of the set-up is to locate the Apple Solo Trumpet and
assign it to an audio instrument. So, after bringing up the EXS24,
select Factory > O5 Horns & Woodwinds > Trumpet.
Now, obtain two free solo trumpets (which will be a part of this question)
by going to

and doesnload at least these two:
trumpet_sus.rar
trumpetvib_susrar
then "un-rar" these, and make these two sample instruments
available to EXS24. Then, load each of them into their on
audio instrument.
Set things up so that when you press a key on your keyboard,
you hear with two trumpets acting as a section (preferably
Eastgate's two trumpets for this test), or, with a bit of fiddling,
you press a key and hear all three trumpets playing in unison.
Also, for the Apple trumpet, go into EXS24 and edit it,
deleting both the group "Trumpet f slu" and its associated
zones, then changing group "trumpet f ln" so that it responds
to Select Range of 0 thru 127. Then save as a new sample
instrument (I used the title "Apple Better Trumpet".
At this stage, every one has the same, three instruments that
will be a part of this question.
Now, take the outputs from these three audio instruments and connect
their lines to a bus. Then, send the bus output to output 1-2.

Missing pop horns

Hi,
I just bought mainstage 2 from the app store via download. I'm having a problem with the 'pop horns' folder. If I choose one, it sounds like a sine wave, and then the 'pop horns' folder disappears altogether.
This problem has been noted before at https://discussions.apple.com/message/6395493#6395493, but they suggest scanning the install disks with a program called 'Pacifist' for the missing components. Unfortunately, since I bought mainstage from the app store, there are no disks, so that won't work.
Any suggestions?

Loading the rest of the content helped a lot. I got a couple of funky horn patches to come up just fine!
I still have a problem with the 'studio horns' patch. When I load it, I get the error:
EXS24 instrument “Horn Section.exs”:
Audio file “YT-BRASS TTS FA G3X01.aif” not found!
And the patch does not work.
I don't know if everyone has this problem or just me.

It's a bug striking in long documents.
Select a word somewhere higher in the page then use the arrows to reach the wanted insertion point.

Missing cover art in album section

My problem is pretty basic. My cover art for some of the albums I've uploaded do not appear when I click on the albums section. They also don't appear when I click on the artist and then pick an album. When a song plays the alblum cover art appears. I've tried clearing it and then placing the cover art back on but it does not change. What can I do to resolve this?

This seems to be a bug in the 3.1.x OS. When I updated to 3.1.1 I noticed the same thing where only some of the small artwork icons for albums are missing in the Album or Artist menus. No problem with Now Playing or Coverflow, just the small icons. The problem persists with the 3.1.2 release.
I've removed and re-loaded affected albums and still have the problem. I've even gone as far as resetting and restoring my 2G Touch (for other reasons) and still have the problem, so I believe this is a firmware bug (so nothing you can do).

Missing App category under Library section

So I had upgraded to the newest iTunes a week ago or so but havent restarted my computer in a while which I did today. So when I opened iTunes it said welcome this is your first time using itunes etc.. My library was all there and its the usual welcome screen. I noticed right away that under the Library section the App category was missing? I plugged my ipod touch in and all my apps were still there in the app section there (you know where you check mark the ones you want). I synced to make sure and possibly hope the section would come up but it hasn't. I don't know whats up has this section been taken down in the update or is this some kind of glitch. Should I try to install the new itunes again? Thanks for the help

Oh, I absolutely DO believe you. A lot of software seems to be like that - enabling/disabling options gets them working properly, so good guess on that!

Add Missing Podcast Episodes to Podcast Section

The podcast I listen to the most decided to cut its feed down to 20 shows, so now that I changed my hard-drive and didn't back up the podcast folder, I only have the last 20 shows, out of 200.
I found a server that had backups of the podcast, and I manually downloaded each one (1 to 180). Now I'd like to add those missing shows to my podcast folder, but I can't. iTunes adds them to my Library?
Is there any easy way to solve this problem?

I have a similar problem, for some reason one specific podcast from a subscribed series I get has moved into the standard library. How would I change it back. Is it something to do with ID3 tags? Please help!

HT204019 Missing "volume adjust" in Ringtones section of new iTunes 12.0

My iTunes is at its most updated format, 12.0.1.26 How do I increase the volume of a ringtone now?
In the past, I've made many of my own ringtones using 30-second clips of the songs. Today, when I finished making the ringtones and then imported them into my library, I couldn't find the "volume adjust" slider in the Options tab of "Get Info". It used to be there. When ringtones would first import in, they would always be a little quieter so I had to turn up the volume adjustment.
That volume slider is no longer in its usual/original place. Is it somewhere else in iTunes?

I'm having a similar issue, but cannot see anything to do with airplay in the SysPref > Sound menu. My mac is too old to run Yosemite, so looking to find another way to get this fixed. Any ideas?

Missing "Studio Horns" ?

Is logic supposed to have a channel strip preset called "Studio Horns" in the 08 Pop Horns folder in the library?
This training book wants me to use that for a track, but I have no such item in that folder. All I see is Funk Horn Section, Live Funk Horns, and Soprano Sax.
Under the "14 Surround -> 07 Surround Pop Horns" folder I see a "Studio Horns Surround", but I don't think this is what I want. But that's the only thing in the library with "Studio Horns" in the title. Am I missing this instrument? If so, how did that happen?
I previously had GarageBand 11 on this machine, and no versions of Logic Pro before I installed version 9. (With the latest software update)

What surprises me is I had never had Logic installed before, and I'm using a brand new (Dec 2010) Mac Book Pro that came with Snow Leopard and iLife '11 already installed on it, so it came with GB 11.
If the Logic 09 installer really doesn't play well with GB11, I'm surprised more people aren't having problems. The only reason I realized I was missing at least one channel strip setting (and where there is one missing, there are probably more), is because the training book I am using made use of it. Otherwise, I would never have known I was missing anything!
One thing to note: many websites suggest re-installing GB using the "customize" button in the installer in order to include additional GB content. The system install disks do NOT provide a separate GB installer. That system installer does not have any such option. There are only checkboxes to include/not include the various applications in the iLife 11 suite.
And to summarize : the solution was to uninstall GB11, reinstall Logic with the "Include GB 09 content" checkbox checked, and then reinstall GB11 from the system install disks that come with the MacBook Pro.

Missing Instruments in Loops

I am using Soundtrack Pro in Final Cut Studio 2. The instruments are missing from my loops. It seems the other sound effects and music cues are present (although, I've never seen a list of what, precisely is supposed to be included -- anyone know?).
I have done a search of my hard drive. I've combed through the Apple Loops folder. I've searched for "piano" and "cello" -- I've done a search of .caf files (apple loops). I am pretty convinced the instruments aren't on my hard drive.
In a search of this forum, someone spoke of "indexing"; but first gave the advice to return to "setup". That is a little vague for me --(both "indexing" and "setup") -- can anyone give me some instruction on how to use "setup" to try to add the loop files that didn't seem to make it onto my harddrive, during installation of Studio 2? And then how do I "index", if necessary? Thanks much.

Afaik, there's no instruments coming with Soundtrack Pro, only SFXs and Music Beds. The instruments are coming from Garage Band and/or Logic. However, if you didn't uninstall Garage Band, you should have them on your hard drive. If you don't see any instruments in your STP search tab, it's probably because they're not indexed. To index them, go to the Search tab, in the lower-right and click on the Setup... button. A new window will open. Once there, click on the + button and navigate to that folder: Library/Audio/Apple Loops. Select the folder "Apple Loops for Garage Band". STP should then index that folder.

Multiple sections, each section different first/next page headers

Ï'm developing a PO (purchase order)-document.
This document has 2 sections.
First sections contains PO-documents. Second section contains PO-copies.
First section has different header for first page and next pages for each seperate PO. So multiple PO's are printed and page 1 of each PO has different header than page 2 of same PO. This works fine.
For the copies I added a new section which is basically the same as the first except the fact that the first page and next page headers for the PO-copies contain the word "DUPLICAAT".
Section 1 still works fine.
However in section 2 all pages of each PO, including the first page, get the next-page header. The first page of a PO in section 2 does NOT get the different first page header.
Just to get it working I created a very simple rtf with 2 sections and 2 pages for each section. For each section I appointed a different header for the first page and the second page. The rtf contains only fixed text, no xml-tags. In MS-Word the rtf-template looks fine, each page has the expected header. I loaded any XML-file and viewed the PDF-output. Result: first page of section 2 has the next-page header for section 2 instead of the first-page header.
Is this a bug or am I doing things in the wrong way ?
I can upload the testing template if necessary.

Missing instrument sounds after upgrading from '11 to 10

When I upgraded from Garageband '11 to 10, a messaged appeared on my screen asking me if I wanted to download several gigabytes of extra instruments sounds.
Of course I pressed the "Okay" button, and the progress bar showed that the data were downloaded.
But I don't know where those instrument sounds went to, and what name they're under, and where to look for them, because there was no window that appeared after the download to show the location of the new instrument sounds or information saying that they had been installed in Garageband.
My downloads folder on my Mac doesn't show any relevant file or folder from the date when I upgraded.
I already bought Mainstage a year or two ago and downloaded the Jam Packs via Mainstage at that time, and I don't know if those Jam Packs have anything to do the "extra" instrument sounds that I supposedly downloaded as part of my Garageband upgrade.

HI i am having problems with old sessions locating what i believe to be samples that certain instruments must have needed . so im prompted with a dailogue by logic which asks me to personally locate the files ( at least one of these files was an AAC ) . these files would have been saved in logicexpress 8 , or logic pro 9 . and in some of them the presets / instruments , like ultra beats indie or indie live kit , or the channel preset / instrument called dominator im pretty sure it was in synth leads but i dont see it
i thought i had my preferences to save all project data within the project folder but i guess not but anyway,
*** these projects are on an external HD enclosure and it was basically an extra back up drive *** not much on it
most of my files are on two other drives which would be my last machines two SATA drives one was the system drive and the other was the main audio drive
so all my old logic preferences i dont have access to , nor most of my projects btw the G5 they came from is dead and gone so i cant firewire anything that way .
does logic pro 9 not have as many channel and instrument presets as logic studio ? cuz it seems like my logic 9 doesnt have as many apple presets as I have worked on / used
7 or both maybe there was a drum kit called chill out kit which i liked but upon the next update which i believe was logic express 8 for me it wasnt there i remember this very well as it made me change my default setting for ultrabeat and theres usually only one preset i got to for drums so in logic express 8 it became indie live kit which i dont see in ultrabeat at all either
so i know preseta seem to get left behind but last time my work around for this was to open an old project that i remembered using it in andsaving it in channel strip setting
i cant do that now because my old projects are giving me this error dailogue and when it opens its the right midi but not the right sounds

the downloaded content seems to have helped .... so i think its ok but maybe a seperate issue now is
esx samples , i since went into my old SYSTEM HD and pulled some ultrabeat and ESX files out of the library
so not sure if its resolved 100 % but it seems to be pretty good

Single instruments: For example just a single trumpet

Hi there,
It's so annoying that most of the instruments are section instruments. When you choose a trumpet, you do not get one trumpet, but a complete section or just a few. But I really would like to know if there's a possibility to just hear ONE instrument. To make it clear... 1 trumpet, and not more then 1.
Does anyone know if this is possible? Because I think I downloaded all the instruments there are. And it's freakin' annoying.

The symphony orchestra Jam Pack has the follwing horns: French horns (both solo and section), trumpet section, trombone section, and tuba.
So you can get a solo french horn or a tuba, but no trumpet, sorry.
