Missing items on Bridge filter panel

I just took 4 new raw photos and copied them to a folder on my computer. I opened up Bridge and navigated to that folder. I see the 4 image files but the “Filter” panel is missing almost all the items and looks like this:
If I navigate to another folder, then all the filter items are listed. If I copy a few image file pairs (arw and xrp) from a folder where all the filter items are listed to this folder, then all the filter items are listed and the totals include the original 4 image files. The “Filter” panel then looks like this:
The above totals are still not correct. The 4 new images were set to a *** rating. The 8 images I copied into the folder also were set to a *** rating. The “Ratings” item lists those 4 images as incorrectly as unrated but the totals for “Orientation” and “ISO Speed Ratings” are correct.
I then created a new folder and copied the 4 pair of arw/xwp files to it. I then navigated to it in Bridge. For a fraction of a second, all the items in the “Filter” panel appeared but then it immediately changed to just “Keywords” and “Camera Raw”.
What do I need to do to restore all the “Filter” items to this folder and to have the totals be correct?
I am using Bridge CS5 v4.0.5.11 and Windows XP Pro SP3.
Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

In the filter settings you have keywords and star ratings checked?
The images have a *** rating that shows under the images (I added no keywords) but there is no "Ratings" item in the panel to select (unless I add those other images to the folder). In addition, the other items (such as "Orientation" and ISO Speed Ratings") are not in the panel either. That information is part of the image files so it should always appear.
I just opened Bridge again and now there are 4 items in the "Filter" panel (before there was only 2).
Here are the "Filter" panel item selections:
All those items should appear in the "Filter" panel but for the folder with these files, they do not (unless other files are mixed in with them).

  • Missing Items in the Action Panel

Hi!  I'm making my way through Adobe Flash CS4 Professional Digital Classroom and am stumped by one of the directions.
I'm learning the basics of ActionScript 3.0 and it says, referring to the Action Panel, "Press the Add a new item to script button and choose flash.display > MovieClip > Methods > stop."
However, when I click the Add icon, it lists only:
    Top Level
    Language Elements
    adobe.utils
    air.net
    fl.accessibility
    fl.containers
    fl.controls
    I don't see flash.display anywhere. What did I miss?

  • Tree Component like Bridge Keywords panel

    I'm looking to use a non-standard component in a UI I'm building, and I'm looking for input/ideas.
If you are familiar with Bridge, there is a panel in the app called "Keywords". I'm looking to create a tree which looks like that.
I have not found a pre-made component which matches that look.
I can use a tree with an ItemRenderer to create the checkboxes pretty easily, so that part of it is not a big deal. The only issue which concerns me there, is having the checked state of children bubble up to affect their ancestors. (I'd like to use a tri-state checkbox to indicate partial selections...)
I'm more concerned by properly styling the nodes as opposed to the leaves. (I'd like the nodes to be distinct when compared to the leaves - like in the Keywords panel. I tried using the alternatingItemColors property, but that's pretty much a dead-end because it doesn't differentiate between leaves and nodes.
Any ideas other than doing a major rewrite of Tree?

  • Empty filter panel in Bridge CS5

I’m using Bridge CS5 on Windows 7.  If I create a new folder, add an image file, and attach a keyword, the filter panel remains empty – as if the folder were empty.  That is, not only are there no terms under the Keyword filter, but no filter options are displayed at all.
However, if I use Find to search for the attached keyword, then there’s no problem locating the image.
This is such a basic issue that I’m sure I’m missing something obvious.  Is it related to caching or indexing?  Closing and reopening Bridge doesn’t make any difference.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I see what’s going on now.  It looks like there’s a minor Bridge 4.0.4.2 bug relating to the filter panel (in the lower left part of the Bridge window).  Basically, no filter options are shown in the panel unless the current folder contains at least two files.
To see this behavior:  (1) Create a new folder; the filter panel will be empty of course.  (2) Copy an image file into the folder; the panel is still empty.  (3) Copy another image file into the folder; the panel is populated with options, e.g. keywords, camera raw properties, etc. for the two files.  (4) Delete one of the files; the filter panel is empty again.

  • Adding Lens to Filter Panel - Bridge CS4

Very new to Photoshop and Bridge CS4 so stilling learning the basics of the applications. After installing I believe I saw Lens in the Filter Panel on the left side of the screen. I no longer see that item to open it up. In fact right clicking in the FIlter Panel gives me a number of catagories to select. They are all selected (including Lens) but only 9 catagories appear in the filter section. How do I get the lens catagory to appear?
    Thanks

First check if you have used files that have been shot with different
lenses. A category in the filter panel only appears if there are two or more
different criteria present, otherwise there would not be any need to filter
Second, the lens has to be capable to interact with the EXIF data in the
camera, most of them do but not all. If a lens can't communicate with this
EXIF data the data will not be present in the metadata that comes with your
file and therefore not be seen by Bridge.
Last, check also the fly out menu top right of the filter panel, put your
mouse on it and you will see the list of filter categories appear. Those
with a checkmark in front are visible, those without are not.
How do I get the lens catagory to appear?

  • Filter Panel in Bridge not showing all the categories

I am using Bridge CS5 and I download my photos to my laptop using Canon's EOS Utility program. In the Filter Panel on the left I get only a few catogories for some folders where for other folders I get the total of the categories. When I do click on a folder, then while it is collecting all the photos you can see all the categories for a few seconds but then it ends with sometimes just 3 categories. I am using Windows 7 on a 64bit laptop. All the categories in the dropdown box are also marked but still they do not show all in the panel.
What I now saw was if I go to the thumbnails in the Content Panel and I just click on a thumbnail and move it around and back again then a small 600byte ".bridgesort" icon appears and then all the categories show in the Filter Panel for that folder. Anybody knows what is going on? Thanx

In the Filter Panel on the left I get only a few catogories for some folders where for other folders I get the total of the categories.
The filter panel reflects the data of the content panel and while it seems this panel has a mind of its own it only shows categories if there is a choice in a category to filter. For instance having landscape and portrait files in the folder orientation shows landscape and portrait, if you want only landscape this is an option to use this filter for showing only landscape in the content panel. When you have only landscape in the folder there is nothing you can filter because everything is the same and therefor it shows no option for it.
What I now saw was if I go to the thumbnails in the Content Panel and I just click on a thumbnail and move it around and back again then a small 600byte ".bridgesort" icon appears and then all the categories show in the Filter Panel for that folder. Anybody knows what is going on?
You obviously have used the menu View / show hidden files activated. What you see is a small file that contains data for the sort order you have used. The moment you move one file to a new position the sort order changes to manual.
If you deselect the option to show hidden files you won't see this file also.

  • How to make the filter panel non-folder specific in Bridge CS6

It seems that the filter panel is folder specific. You click on a folder and only some filters pop up depending on what folder you are looking at and what info is in the photos (I don't know if this refers to tags or not). Assuming I am right. This is my problem. I go to my main folder where all other folders and subfolder with photos within them are placed. I want to look at my "Ratings" 5 starts, 4 stars and so forth. In other words I am looking for (searching for), in this case, all those photos I have labeled with 5 stars. But no such tab/filter exists in my main folder. Why? How do I perform such a task(look for all 5-star photos I have--and also zero stars, those yet to be labelled)?
OS: WIndows 7 Home Premium 64bit
    Thank you

The filter panel is a shortcut for the content panel and it only effects the content of that window. So if you have a folder it will only see this as a folder and not with its content. (a Stack behaves about the same, being different in only counting the first file in the filter panel criteria but not what is in the stack itself)
You have a view work arounds, first is use menu view / show items from subfolders (this can take some time especially if you have not used caching before on this content) and this builds visible thumbs for all content and that can be used for filtering.
Or use the find command (Edit / find) and inhere specify the source and fill in the criteria include subfolders and this will give you the correct result.
When you create a smart collection the find command also pops up given you the same opportunity to get the results in a collection, but since a collection is only a bunch of aliases referring to the originals you might be a bit careful with editing and deleting.

  • Filter Panel - Add Categories

I use the Filter Panel extensively when editing images in ACR.  Does anyone know how to add categories from the EXIF data to the Filter Panel?  I want to select images where the flash hasn't fired so I can adjust them separately to those where the flash has fired.  Obviously there is a significant White Balance disparity between the two.  "Select Filter Categories" is greyed out when I right-click on the Panel.  Can't for the life of me find anything that helps with this.
    Thx

Yes, well if Adobe want to have an item in their menu that says "Select Filter Categories" then maybe clicking on that should let you choose from the EXIF data at least.
As said, that can be quit a long list and also possible scrolling needed, but you can add your idea as a feature request, the link for this is present at the main Bridge Forum Page. The more that wish for it the higher chance it eventually will be realized.
Given they price-gouge their Australian customers by charging us more than they charge US customers, they are not on my list of good corporate citizens.
You can't simple compare prizes between different countries, this has also to do with the amount of potential customers, promotion budget etc etc. and often VAT and other taxes, US normally does not include VAT in advertising.
But I agree, somehow other people seem to have it better then ourselves...

  • How to know what are the missing items in 'Collect Files' ?

I used 'Collect Files' to gather my medias for my project, but it's giving me this error in log:
    Number of missing items:  1
This project is pretty huge so how can I find out which items is missing ?
I don't see any offline layers in my sequences...
    Thank you.

Do you have a file that is bigger than 2gb in size ? I know that on some cases Collect file won't move file with size over 2gb (if i'm correct, not sure about this).
If you are on CS4, open you collected file project and type "missing" in the search text field of the project panel, and AE will show you all the missing files.
You can also have a look at the log file created when you collected the file to see wat file is missing.
    Hope that helps.

  • Filter Panel lists unlabeled photos 3 times

I have been using Bridge for some time now and I think it's great. Now suddenly in the Filter Panel in the 'labels' tab my unlabeled photos are listed 3 times, like so:
    No label 54
    No label 54
    Green label 7
    Red label 2
    No label 54
I have tried a number of things like rebooting Bridge with F5, rebooting my iMac, purging the cache, selecting all images in a folder, giving the unlabeled ones labels and then removing the labels again, but to no avail. It still lists the unlabeled photos 3 times. It also does so with new photos that I have just downloaded into the computer: I give one image a label and immediately the unlabeled ones appear in threefold. I don't know what's causing this, although I have been busy reorganizing my photocollection the other day. Question is, can I get rid of this annoying phenomenon?
    Thanks in advance!

Strange problem, does its also occur in a new created folder?
If not use the menu tools-cache-purge cache for folder.
Try to use the reset workspace (under the triangle next to the workspace in
top of the window choose reset workspace.
If still not good try to restart Bridge holding down option key and choose
refresh preferences. Set prefs again to your wishes and try if it did work.
Question is, can I get rid of this annoying phenomenon?
    Thanks in advance!

  • Custom Info Panel as Bridge MetaData Panel

    Hello,
I have built a Custom XMP InfoPanel that shows up in CS6 Bridge just fine! But for ease of data entry we want it to show up in the Bridge MetaData panel. How is this done with the latest best practices?
I have looked everywhere found a number of ways, but ALL are out dated! The XMP FileInfo SDK doesnt cover this.
    Thank you

    Hi Science_DC,
You are missing the zstring in your label or description and the same issue is with properties too. For testing i changed only two properties but you need to do the smae for others too.  I tested after using the ZString and it's working fine in Bridge too. Please find the original and modfied code (only for two properties)
    1. Your original properties.xml is
    <xmp_schema prefix="custom" namespace="http://my.custom.namespace/" label="<Your label>" description="<Your Panel Description>">
            <!-- simple properties -->
            <xmp_property name="Text" category="external" label="<Property Name>" type="text"/>
            <xmp_property name="Text2" category="external" label="<Property Name>" type="text"/>
    </xmp_schema>
Insert the ZString like below (inserted text are in bold)
    <xmp_schema prefix="custom" namespace="http://my.custom.namespace/" label="$$$/Custom/Panel/Label=<Your label>" description="$$$/Custom/Panel/Description=<Your Panel Description>">
            <!-- simple properties -->
            <xmp_property name="Text" category="external" label="$$$/Custom/Panel/Property1 Name=<Property1 Name>" type="text"/>
            <xmp_property name="Text2" category="external" label="$$$/Custom/Panel/Property2 Name=<Property2 Name>" type="text"/>
    </xmp_schema>
    2. Put that propery file in Custom File Info Panels/4.0/panels (at the same place where DCIM.xml and mobile.xml is)
Following is the screen shot which I got after ZString insertion (CS6 Bridge)
If it doesn't work, could we do remote desktop?

  • CS3 Bridge - Filter keyboard shortcuts on in Default Workspace?

Here's a annoying differences I notice between CS2 & CS3 Bridge, or am I missing something related to Filter keyboard shortcuts in CS3 Bridge?
I'm used to using keyboard shortcuts to filter the Bridge Contents window, i.e. pressing Command+Option+1 to show just 1-star rated files. But this kind of keyboard shortcut only works when the Filter tab is visible, as in the Default Workspace view. If I in the Thumbnail workspace view none of the filter keyboard shortcuts have any effect. Must the Filter palette be visible for the shortcuts to work or am I doing something wrong?
    TIA!

hi- thank you to both of you. the question is answered but i dont know what the etiquette of awarding the 'question solved' points is here. Because the question had two parts, Malcolm Rayfield answered both parts, but A.Carlo also kindly answered the second part, so i don't know how to give the points without excluding A.Carlo. but i guess if i can only give the points to one person, it should be Malcolm, since he answered both?

  • How to increase the choice of possible filter items in the filter HUD?

    Hi there,
didn't know how to exactly formulate a nice header for my question.
    Here goes:
In the filter HUD, I can add a new rule to search for, and choose "Aperture Metadata" as
the source of possible tags. However, for some reason, the choice of tags I am confronted
with is not exhaustive; for example, the Aperture tag "Badges" is not in the list
of tags that one can search for in the filter HUD.
To solve my immediate problem, I would like to know how I can search for specific values of the
tag "Badges" that is part of the "Aperture" Metadata Field.
On a more general note, I would like to know how one can add or delete choices that the filter HUD offers.
For example, if I add a custom field, what do I have to do to make it searchable in the filter HUD?
    Thanks for any help!

Maybe we do not use the word "Metadata" in the same way.
The only issue I see is this:
. "Badges" are not metadata. They are icons which indicate metadata. The distinction is important in this discussion, because "Badges" is not a family of metadata, other than being the family of metadata to which the Aperture design team has assigned icons which can be shown in some views. It is important to understand that while the badge is a member of the set "Metadata which Aperture shows as an icon", the actual metadata indicated by the badge is a member of an actual metadata set. With apologies for being cute, "Badges" are meta-metadata.
I had the following proposition: not all metadata is searchable.
I believe this is correct, but not as widespread as you indicate.
I then proofed this proposition by showing that Aperture can search for specific
values of the "badges" tag ("locate referenced files"->"show only files not found"), and
went on by claiming that the filter HUD does not offer to do this exact same search.
"Badges" is not a tag, nor is it metadata in the sense you are using the term.
The Filter HUD may do what you are asking. As I posted in direct response in another message in this thread, I think the two-rule "and"-type filter
    . File Status is Referenced
    . File Status is Missing
    will do what you want.
As always, I cannot conclusively prove what Aperture cannot do, I can only say that I did not find this option in the filter HUD, and would be happy if anyone told me how to do it.
If I turn out to be correct, you are welcome.
    This was just one example.
Judging from my lists cited in one of my posts above, one is tempted to think that Aperture's filter HUD is not capable of searching for "Badges", "Flag", "Import Session", "Label", "Last Modified Date", and "Rating".
All of these Items appear in the "Aperture" Section of the "Metadata Fields" in the "Metadata View" dialog that opens when you hit "edit" on the drop-down box in the Metadata Pane of the Inspector, but do not appear in the "Aperture Metadata" list of items in the filter HUD.
It turns out that all but "Badges" and "Last Modified Date" are items that can be searched for in
the filter HUD; The other candidates for "non-searchability" ("Flag","Label", "Last Modified Date", and "Rating") do not appear in the "Aperture Metadata" part of the filter HUD, where you would expect them, but they exist in other parts of the filter HUD.
There is some sense to this. I will add, however, that they do not appear where you expect them (logically, btw), does not mean that they do not appear where others expect them. Our expectations are ruled more by experience than by logic.
Flag status is, in Aperture, what might be described as a privileged metadata field. There is an entire apparatus for flagging, un-flagging, and viewing flagged items; no other metadata has been accorded such privilege (a hot key, the click-able flag hotspot, the flag overlay, the Flag View).
"Label" is also (using my nomenclature) a "privileged" metadata field (just not as privileged as "Flag").
    Likewise "Rating".
While I therefore was able to search for some Metadata fields of the "Aperture" part of the Metadata Field ("Flag","Label", "Import Session", and "Rating", in addition to all items listed in the "Aperture Metadata" option in the filter HUD), I was completely unable to search for others ("Badges" and "Last Modified Date").
See my comments on Badges above.
"Last Modified Date" is a special case. There was a good (iirc) thread about this earlier. I will look for it. Iirc, you can get LMD to show in List view, but you cannot search for it. This is silly -- worth a feature request to Apple. LMD is the only metadata I know of (not, perhaps, saying much) that is not searchable via the Filter HUD.
I therefore think that I did proof (to the extent I am capable of) that not all metadata is searchable - and my question simply is "how do I make these metadata searchable". Or, alternatively, "how do I control the metadata items that the filter HUD allows me to search for".
Yours is a very synthetic approach, which I applaud. The audience for your questions, however, is more properly the Aperture designers, and not fellow users. The only way I can answer your questions is when you specify what it is you are trying to do (for example above: filter your images for referenced and missing). Please ask about whatever specific things you are unable to do.
    Hope that helps.
    Kirby.

  • Changing/Adding to Filter panel?

    Hello!
I have question about posibility to add Color Mode from Metadata to Filter panel because i'm in a need to be able to easy separate and see what colormode have images. Like for poligraphy images supposed to be in CMYK and to see which images are still in RGB and so and on.
So is that possible or not? In CS3 or CS5?
P.S. acctually i don't understand why Metadata is made so tuneable (can not show what i don't need to know at all) but Filters panel are so weak (or i miss totaly something).
    Thank You!

I know, my english isn't so good (making sense skill neither)
I haven't trouble with getting Color Profile but getting Color Mode to filter by, as i start understand it's not posible.
And it's a big comfort question.
    Like diference
By profile: 4 sRGB, 1 NikonRGB, 3 ISO Coated, 1 U.S. Web Coated and 7 Untagged. (often CMYK profile aren't save so PROBABLY 80% chance it's CMYK)
Teoreticly by mode: 7 RGB and 9 CMYK.
Easy to "see" easy to use.
But i get it, i'll use that profile and wait for "miracle".

  • Filter panel program error?

    Dear Colleagues,
After implementing SP11, stack 11, the input fields in my filter panel change their length from normal to zero.
I am talking about the filter panel item you can ad to a template in WAD. Earlier you could see the name of the infoprovider, followed by a white field where you could choose different values, an at the end an arrow pointed downwards. Click on the arrow to choose something.
The difference after SP11 was that the name of the infoobject was still there, but it was followed directly by the arrow; the white filed was gone, on each and every report.
I figure that this must be a program error. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you know of any notes that might fix this?
    -Will sign points!
