Missing iweb files after mobileme closed-recoverable?

While trying to transfer my iweb-created website to Godaddy suddenly I cannot find the site at all or any pages -- just one pages that says "blank". Any suggestions? Did I accidently delete my entire webpage files? Are they recoverable? Thnaks.

The published pagers that were on MMe are not needed. Everything iWeb needs is in its Domain.sites2 file that's located in your Users/Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder.
If you're running Lion and Mountain Lion the Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and hit the Enter button - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
To open your domain file in Lion or Mt. Lion or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with Script Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.

You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder. So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.
Once you get your domain file and get it opened you will need to publish the site to an FTP hosting service. If you're running iWeb 2 you must publish to a folder on your hard drive and upload the site folder and it's external index.html file to the server. If you're running iWeb 3 you can publish directly from iWeb to the server.

Published my iWeb files to MobileMe but can't get to domain

I've finally been able to publish my iWeb files to MobileMe (after 2 days of trying -- a message kept appearing that said "iWeb couldn’t publish to MobileMe. The MobileMe servers are busy. Well, have you followed all the instructions about linking your domain name to MobileMe?
Have you entered your domain name in your MobileMe personal domain name settings? If not, then go and do this.
You then need to go to your domain name registrar and forward your domain name to web.me.com, by going to the DNS settings and setting up a new CNAME forwarding. Have you done this? If not, then go and do it.
You need to do all these things for your domain name to work.
By the way, it is web.me.com. If you keep typing www.me.com, then no it won't work.
Your url will always be http://web.me.com/username/sitename.

Missing original files after attempting to move all files to external drive

After reading numerous threads regarding iTunes not being able to locate the original file after moving it to an external drive, I'm in a slightly different boat since most seem to be able to "locate" their original music. It appears the order in which this is done is particularly important and I suspect this is where I screwed up. I posted this earlier in response to another thread mistakenly under iTunes for Windows, but now I'm realizing where I may have made my main mistake.
Over a year ago, I had moved my iTunes folder from my Music folder from the HD to my 250 GB external drive. I did not rename it. Kept it the same name. Went into the Advanced folder in iTunes Preferences and chose to use the external drive as my source for music and everything worked fine. Don't remember consolidating and it appears based on the way that I did it, I may not have had to.
Recently I found a folder in my Music folder on the Mac's HD titled iTunes and assumed this was holding the original files and that my iTunes wasn't actually running from my external drive at all, but that it had been using the HD on the Mac the whole time (didn't realize that it kept a copy there). So, I took that file and moved it to the external drive. Not sure if I "replaced" it or "deleted" the old one on the external drive (it was late and it was a few days ago). Now I'm realizing that I probably took out my true original files as now all that is there is about 16 music files under "iTunes Music". I tried consolidating and this didn't make any difference since it just consolidated all of the same files. If I open iTunes and hold the option key down that doesn't make any difference either since it still can't find the originals.
Now that I realize what I've done, thinking back I should have been more surprised that it was only 1.3GB of music when really my library is closer to 40 GB. I've just lost a lot of music. Is there anyway to retrieve the rest of the original library or am I cooked?

Trying to restore previous iWeb files after hard drive was reformatted.

I had to have a clean install on my MacBook last week and had my iWeb files backed up but I'm having trouble figuring out how to import the files or restore iWeb to the way it was. Any thoughts? Or is it just another lack of support and thinking on Apple's part?

No. You just need to have backed up the right files.
iWeb stores info under User/Library/Application Support/domain.sites and it is this domain.sites file that you need to be able to alter anything in iWeb.
If you published your site to a local folder thinking that was a back up, then it is not, as iWeb has no import facility and is unable to open already published html files.
If you don't have your domain.sites file then you'll have to re-build your site again in iWeb.

Missing video files after upgrade

I've upgraded to iTunes 7 and now I am missing some files, specifically my bought music videos and some iTMS Pixar movies. The used to be in my library\Downloads\... but now 7.0 has reorganized my library for me and moved my files around. Now I can't find it (maybe it deleted it??).
Any help would be appreciated.

I had this problem yesterday too, you'll find them in E (mass memory) in a folder named DCIM.
I dunno what the trick behind changing the location!

Search option missing from iWeb site after MobileMe transition

I'm assuming this is a residual bug from the transition to MobleMe, but I've just noticed that my site published with iWeb is missing the Search box on the home page. Just curious if anyone else has had this, or anyone has found a fix.
Tried republishing the site, but still no joy. Also tried viewing the site via the new MobleMe address as well (as opposed to old .Mac address), and it's missing there too.
Bueller? Anyone?

Strange, my friend on the latest Firefox could not see the search bar, but when I asked her to load into Safari, the webpage loaded up fine (on a Powerbook). I then tried to load up the page on Safari with my Powerbook, but no dice.
I then booted up into Windows XP and tried viewing my webpage via IE 7, Firefox 3 AND Safari, and the search bar STILL does not show up. The search bar is not limited to Mac OS X and Safari (on a Mac) right?

Can I recover iWeb files from MobileMe?

Migration Assistant hasn't been very good to me over the years and when I moved from my old iMac to my Intel iMac I had to do all the transferring of files by hand - painful... and not so effective as it turns out. Somehow I lost the base files (not sure what they're called) for all of my iWeb sites. Now when I open iWeb it starts from scratch as if I'd never created any pages before.
However, my sites are all still up on MobileMe and so I can browse to them. And obviously when I go to MobileMe and look in the Web/Sites/iWeb folder I see the files for my old sites. It looks as if there's a folder for each site, an HTML file for each page and a folder for all of the files displayed on that page.
My question is whether there is any way to recover these sites and pages back onto my mac so that I can edit them. Anyone know if that be done?

Benjamin ~ Only iWeb's Domain file can be opened in iWeb. See this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.
Paragraph 2.3 of _this FAQ page_ gives some tips on how to use published files, graphics, photos, etc., to help rebuild the site from scratch.

If you were using Time Machine before you re installed Snow Leopard, you should be able to restore the file in question from the backup. This section of the article named:

Missing HHP file after project rename

One of the authors here has hit a problem with a project
after he has renamed it - within RH. The project refuses to open
completely and RH hangs. On investigation it appears that the
project's .HHP file is missing. All the other project files are
present with the new project name.
We've managed to get around this as he has a backup of the
original project and can import the amended topics into the backup
and do a hack of the .HHC and .HHK files in order to move forward.
Just wondering if this is something others have experienced.

Interestingly, one change that was made from the original project
was a new template file. This shows up in the topics and even in
the topic properties but not in the Project's templates folder.
Everything appears OK, even the truecode references the template.
The problem is that we have no way of knowing if this was the same
before the rename as well as after.

As said, you cannot publish to MobileMe because it's closed. However you can publish from iWeb to another hosting service - there are plenty to choose from. This page gives you more information:

Missing index file after data recovery

Hello
I accidently deleted some pages files from my trash. I recovered them using Filesalvage. Now when I try to open them I get the message
"Unable to open xxxxx.pages because the document is invalid. The index.xml file is missing."
So I suppose the recovery program hasn't recovered that part of the file package.
Is there anyway to rebuild or recover the data?

I have the exact same issue, of course this occurred before time machine came along. Have you been able to recover any of your deleted pages documents. I learned later to make sure that the suffix .pages is turned on and that creates a .pdf wrapper that can be recovered if accidently deleted.

ITunes: Missing Music Files & After Adding Songs It Says It Can't Find Original File

I use iTunes to manage my music and after the upgrade just yesterday (11.0.2 (26)), my iTunes library now shows exclamations next to tracks that it can't find anymore.
The tracks are on my external drive where I have always had them, and when I try to add a song back into the library and try to play it, it says it can't locate the original file and asks if I want to try and locate it.When I go back to locate it on my external drive, it does not show up anymore on my external drive. But when I eject my external drive and plug it back in, the folder track is there again on my external drive!!!!
Does anyone else have the same issue here please?

After weeks of working out what the problem was I finally found out. In my case I had recently purchased Paragon NTFS for Mac so that I could write to an NTFS formatted external hard drive. This was where the issue was when iTunes tried to write to the external drive where I keep my iTunes library and iTunes media folders. Every time I tried to download a song from iTunes, it could not write to my external drive and said that the file or folder was in use. The Paragon NTFS for Mac software 'driver' was causing this to happen and as soon as I turned the driver off on the Paragon software admin tool, my problem was solved! Seemed like the driver was locking out iTunes when trying to write. So if anyone else has this issue, turn off the driver when using iTunes. If you are not running Paragon, then perhaps you have a similar conflict with another application.

Missing linked files after update

I've used the link feature in iphoto 08, so not to duplicate my photos (I also use lightroom and bridge). Now when I updated to iPhoto 09, the photos that were linked are now missing even though they're in the same place as before. On the same main hard drive in my Shared folder. How can I relink all my albums to the right folders and not one photo at a time? I can do this easily in both Lightroom and Expression Media but I found no option to just point to the right place in iPhoto 09.

I had the exact same problem - and called Apple support and spoke to an expert, and at the end of the day there was nothing you could do, just rebuild the entire library manually (i.e. start from scratch and losing all your keepsakes, albums etc).
In my particular case, I kept my old library, and then copied the links from the newly created/rebuilt library (with the correct links) into the "Data" and "Originals" folders of the old library, then upgraded again... and then most of the links still worked. Unfortunately iPhoto 08 seemed to rename the subfolders in the "Originals" folder whenever you changed names of an event, and iPhoto 09 seems to just leave the old name, so there was a lot of renaming before it worked again.
iPhoto could be such a great app if it worked better with references - there should be a way to edit the links, make changes to the original (referenced) file, rename or move files in finder (just the way iTunes does it) - the way it's written now it's very bad. Everyone says "just do not use external references" but if you want to work with Windows/Parallels or any other image program you just want to know where your original file is and keep manual control of the folder structure, so that's not an option for me.
Apple developers: Please provide better support for referenced files, or allow more flexibility with the internal folder structure/naming!!!

Recovering iWeb Files after replacing hard drive

I had 5 functioning websites on iWeb. In April this year I replaced the hard drive on my Mac. I definitely backed up everything onto a new external hard drive, but I can't find my websites on this hard drive and can't work out how to recover them. They are all still live however. Any help would be much appreciated, but please bear in mind I'm not really up on the tech talk, so if you could dumb it all down that would be great!

You need the 'Domain' file which by default lives in (user)/Library/Application Support/iWeb (note that this is not the Library at root level and may be hidden - see below*).
iWeb cannot import the HTML pages which are online, so if you are unable to retrieve the Domain file in which it keeps its data all you can do is to recreate the site from scratch, using the online pages for reference and as a source for the text and images.
If you have to do this you may want to consider not using iWeb, which is no longer supported and may well stop working with any upcoming system upgrade. Everweb is designed to be very like, and to improve on, iWeb and is well liked.
*Apple have hidden the user’s Library folder in Lion and above to casual viewers, in an attempt to stop new Mac users messing their machines up. To access it, in the Finder go to the ‘Go’ menu and hold down the Option (Alt) key; the Library folder will appear as a choice. In Mavericks you can make it permanently visible - open your Home Folder the from the Finder's View menu, choose show View Options and check Show User Library.
