Missing Jam Packs....

Hi All!
I recently installed GB 09.
On launching the app I noticed that 4 of my JamPacks were not visible in the loop selector screen.
I have many loop libraries such as Big Fish Audio, 160dB... all of them show p wirh no problems. I also have the 6 Apple JamPacks. Now I can only see the last two jampacks Voices and World Music. I cannot see the previous 4.
All the instruments are there but the loops are not.
I did a full reindex, and still nothing.... any help?
thanks!

Adding info:
If I manually drag one of the missing loops to the loop browser it gets indexed just fine and it is perfectly usable.
If I drag the whole folder, GB makes a complete reindex and does not show me these particular folders.
I know it is indexing because if I read the indexes (with text edit) I can see the missing lopps in the index files...
plesase help...
thanks again!

  • LE 8 doesn't see all of my installed Jam Packs

Just setting up a new mac. I installed all the Jam Packs. After that I brought up Garageband and when I click on "Loops" it show the following list. I did notice that when Garage Band came up, it indicated that it was searching for Jam Packs...
    Garage Band
    iLife Sound Effects
    Jam Pack Remix Tools
    Jam Pack Rhythm Section
    Jam Pack Symphony Orchestra
    Jam Pack Voices
    Jam Pack World Music
I then installed Logic Express 8. I launched it and when I click on "Loops", I'm missing 2 of the Jam Packs. I only see:
    Garage Band
    iLife Sound Effects
    Jam Pack Remix Tools
    Jam Pack Voices
    Jam Pack World Music
Can I drag the missing Jam Packs on to Logic? I don't want to make copies, just want them to be seen there.
    Please advise.
    Thanks

One more observation. I tried dragging just one file over from the Orchestra folder (Academy Cello 01). I then searched for it and found it. I then searched for "Academy Viola 01", but it didn't find it. I ended up dragging over the set of 5 Academy sounds and now if I search for just "Academy" to all show up in the search results. The only bad thing is I don't actually see the "Symphony Orchestra" pack in the list. I guess I can live with that, but it would be nice to see them all there, just so I know which ones I have. Dumb, I know...
If you know of any other way, please let me know.
    Thanks again for your help!

  • Instruments from jam packs are not there after new install

    hi,
i ve been using all jam packs instruments in my GB2 last year on my imac
without any problems. i have them all at my external FW drive since then, and never at my internal. ( i usually dont use "loops" at all, i prefer instruments )
so, i installed new 10.4.4. on my new pb. starting GB2 i cannot see any instruments in my instrument list except the basic GB2 which are shipped.
i am missing , just for example "House Remix Drum set". so i drag it from the external onto the loop window. (the whole GB folder) it takes 5 or 10min and then its finished adding. but they are not in the window. and its also missing when i open a song from 2004 and 2005. it says "cannot find House Remix Drums" for example.
    i read this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107977
and did it now. but it didnt solve.
maybe i am doing something wrong.
i saw that there are 2 folders in my application support referring to GB2.
its "AUDIO" also, but i thought its only in "application support" > "GARAGEBAND"
drive: Apple Loops Index > folder is empty
drive: user: Apple Loops Index > folder is empty
drive: Library: AUDIO > a couple of folders there (?), includ. "Apple Loops Index" with has a file named "Search Index 28C826A1-8837-11DA-8A69-001124E15E20.txt" date: 2h ago.
how can i begin from scratch? its so confusing as i cant show the path to garageband manually, right? dropping isnt succesfull at all, as i did it now 10times. and its always asking me "this folder does already exist" "do you want to replace it...."
    thanks!

Similar problem but browser would run for 5 minutes and then freeze. only done this since 3.6.6 update. Then i checked everything could think off and found 2 firefoxs running task manager so i ended the one that was frozen, works perfect. Maybe when firefox updated it did not remove the older version. • Jam pack folders no longer show up in Loop browser?

    Hello everyone,
I had to move my apple loops from my system drive onto an external drive (needed the room on my system drive). To do this I deleted the logs for the loops, moved the loops folder to my external drive, and drug the folder back into the Loop browser. All the loops show up fine, but I lost the nice organizational folders in the loop browser that allowed me to search only a specific jam pack.
How do I get these folders back? I tried searching the forums for an answer but came up empty, so I apologize if this has already ben covered. Thanks in advance for your help!

Looks like I spoke to soon. Turns out you cannot re-install the apple loops for the Jam Packs on a separate HD (you can for the soundtrack pro stuff, but not the jam packs for some reason). So I'm still at the point where I can manually drag the loops to my external HD, drag them back into the loop browser and they seemingly index just fine, but the sub-folders are still missing! Any ideas?
Is it possible to add custom folders to the loops browser pulldown for organizing your custom loops?

  • How do I install jam pack on os x lion

I've recently up graded to OSX Lion and found that when i have opened Garageband all the instruments and loops are missing from Jam Pack Remix tools so most of the tunes saved won't play. I've contacted Apple Software support (at great cost) they tell me its because the jam pack are power pc they won't work.
Surely Apple haven't upgraded the OS so you lose everything you've done on garageband? Has anyone got a solution to resolve this? Thanks.

The problem is, that the installers of the Jam Packs are power pc programs, that will not run on Lion.
The Instruments and loops however still work with Lion.
If you have a TimeMachine backup of your system from the time before the migration, you could try to restore the loops library from your TimeMachine backup, you will need to reinstall all folders and subfolders from
          /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/
An other approach would be to rip the PowerPC installation disk: If you open the package (ctls click-> Show Package contents) you will see installers for the loop libraries and folders with loops and instruments. An example how to rip those packages is in this thread:

  • Getting a file not found error with jam pack instruments

Since Logic Express no longer works with the current Mac OS X versions, I'm trying to get used to using GarageBand again while I save up to buy the full Logic Package.  I had purchased all of the jam packs years ago and recently also purchased Main Stage.  Now, when I go to use, for example, an instrument from the Orchestral jam pack, I get a message saying "EXS24 instrument “Cellos.exs”: Audio file “VC-L_legato_f_C2.wav” not found!" with the option to continue or search again.  Clicking "search again" always ends up with the same message.  This is driving me nuts!  Pretty ****** off right now that I can't use what I paid money for.  Isn't this stuff supposed to "just work"?  Or did that die with Steve Jobs?

same Problem: Working with OS X 10.6.8 on a MacBookPro Santa Rosa and Logic Pro: Its not possible to use the cello.exs 'cos missing audio file “VC-L_legato_f_C2.wav”, same problem with Basses.exs (missing KB-L_legato_f_A#1.wav) and the  Piano. All this broken Instruments are from the Jam pack Orchestra Library.

  • Installing old Jam Packs on new MacBook Pro

Hi. I recently migrated all my Garageband projects to a new i5 MacBook Pro. The Jampack software instruments have disappeared (and the Jampack manuals are covered with a no-entry type sign and a notice that says "Power PC software no longer supported"). I can see I still have my old Garageband loops, though.
    1. Is there any way to reinstall the software instruments from my old JamPack disks? My tracks really miss some of them.
    2. If so, will this mean I get additional copies of every loop? (Should I delete all the Jampack stuff from this Mac and just start reloading? Where are the loops stored on my Mac?)
    Thanks for your help!!

    1. I would try reinstalling the Jam Packs from the original disks. There are some incompatibilities and strangeness with the Jam Packs (which are no longer sold / supported), so it's a little hit or miss. However, I've been able to install jam packs on a new mac and, outside from strange error messages, have now been able to install them OK.
    2. I'm not sure, but I'd try moving the loops to another folder, then toss after a successful reinstall. To find the loops, go to your Disk -> Library and look in the application support folder (then GB) as well as the Audio (then Apple Loops) folder.
    3. Finally, if things get completely buggered, you could always fully delete GB and all of its bits and pieces, then reinstall GB and the Jam Packs from scratch.

  • Can I use my old Garageband Jam Packs with Logic Pro X?

I'm in the process of moving all of my Logic X Library content to an external hard drive and it occurred to me that I still have 4 GarageBand Jam Packs that I might be able to use in Logic X. Does anyone know if there is any real difference in the loop content of the Jam Packs and the loops that are on Logic X ? Has anyone tried this and made any kind of comparison? Just wondering. Thanks.

When you download all the additional content from within Logic Pro X.. any jam packs you are missing are then installed during that process... but if you already have them all installed the LPX additional content installer will find them and set them up for use in LPX.
The content of the Jam packs are identical....

  • Loading Jam Packs on Macbook Air without CD drive

Since my Macbook Air (with Lion) doesn't have a cd drive, I recreated the Jam Pack directories in my Macbook Air exactly as they appear on my iMac (with Lion), and copied and pasted the Jam Pack folders/files from my iMac to my MacBook Air using an external hard drive to do the transfer.  Here is where I put the Jam Pack folders/files on my MacBook Air:
Jam Pack - 4 Symphony Orchestra and Jam Pack World Music:
Library>Audio>Apple Loops>Apple> (for the Jam Pack sounds)
Library>Audio>>Apple Loops Index> (for the Index files)
    Jam Packs 2 and 3:
Library>Application Support>Garage Band>Apple Loops (for the Jam Pack sounds)
Library>Application Support>Garage Band>Apple Loops Index (for the Index files)
However, when I fire up Garage Band, it still doesn't see the Jam Packs.  Can anyone tell me why, and what I might do about it?
    Thanks,
    tkaba

You also do need the Instruments Library; otherwise the instruments to play the loops will be missing:
The Instruments Library is located in
    /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/Instrument Library/
Ssee what else from  /Library/Application Support/GarageBand you may need, also from the corresponding files in your user library.
To reindex your loops properly, reveal the Library>Application Support>Garage Band>Apple Loops files in the Finder, launch GarageBand,  and drag the loops  into your GarageBand Window, directly onto the Lopp Browser. Do that for all Loop Folders in your User Library.

  • Please help... jam packs not working with logic express 8

my jam packs do not work. i go to the library tab, open one of the jam packs category, "Symphony Orchestra" for example. i choose an instrument folder ("strings" for example), and then an instrument. a window pops up and says "File not found... Result code = -43". What does this mean? What can i do to fix it?
You my also know that the jam packs work fine in Garage Band.

    Hi,
on a UNIX based system, every file has it's own set of permissions who own it, who can read it or who can write to it. Sometimes, things get corrupted (often during an install or update, when administrator rights are used or not used....)
However: Open the Harddisk Utility in the Applications/Utilities Folder. Select your Harddisk and klick on "repair permissions". Wait for some minutes (takes some time).
You should do this not only now, but before and after every major update/change to your system.
The next step, if this doesn't work, would be to manually locate the files EXS24 is missing, but for this better ask someone in the Logic Pro forum.

  • Need Help controlling Garageband Jam Pack File Sizes

I recently purchased all of the Jam Packs, and would love to make use of them with both Garageband and Logic Pro. The problem is the HUGE amount of space HD space they demand. I've researched these forums, and read about the plan of installing the Jam Packs, moving the Apple Loops to an External HD, and then cleaning out the Apple Loops Library & Index files on my main HD. The problem is, once I did this (testing it with just the World Jam Pack), I STILL lost over 10 GB's of HD space, compared to what I had before the initial Jam Pack instillation! What's taken up all of this space, and how do I get my space back? CAN I put the Jam Packs on an external drive, or not? Thanks in advance!

I don't think there's 10 gig worth, but the Jam Packs install instruments as well. Leave those where they are.

  • Installed Jam Pack but see no new loops in Garageband loop browser. Why not?

I successfully installed Jam Pack but don't see new loops in Garageband loop browser. Is there some extra step I'm supposed to do? Before, I had about 57 Rock/Blues loops, and I still have just that. I had 14 instruments under All Drums, and guess what? Still only 14.
I know the install completed successfully - it said so, anyway.
    Clues?

Have you filters set on the Loop Browser?  Make sure the GarageBand Preference "Loops > Keyword Browsing > Filter for more relevant content" is off.  Otherwise you will  see a fraction of the available loops.
To see, if the JamPack has been installed, set the pop-up meu at the top of the Loop Browser to "Rhythm Section". Is that available?
Did you reindex your Loops after installing the Jam Pack? And did you restart the Mac? In Mt. Lion only restarting a Mac will ensure, that an application is not resumed from a cache, when you launch it again.Restarting the Mac will terminate GarageBand for sure.
If restarting the Mac does not make the JamPack Loops show, rebuild the Loop index.  See:  Rebuilding the Loop Index in GarageBand 6 or earlier - Apple Support

  • Jam Pack 2 & 3 loops don't show in loop browser

When I add the Jam Pack 2 & 3 loops to the loop browser, they do not appear-how can I get the loops to show up ?

Here's the method to reindex I was given at another forum (worked for me):
    1-Open the loop browser
2-Search for a default apple loop (for exemple 70s ballad drums 01).
3-Search the "70s ballad drums 01.aif" file in your finder. It should be in "HD-Library-Audio-Apple Loops-Apple-Apple Loops for GarageBand".
4-Drag the "70s balla drum 01.aif" file to your desktop.
5-In the Logic Loop browser, select the "70s Ballad Drums 01" loop.
6-Logic will tell you it can't find the file and ask you if you want to re-index all your appleloops.
7-Go back to your finder and, replace the file to it's original folder.
8-Click on "Reindex Loops" in your Logic loop browser.

  • Jam Packs and "Garageband Instruments" when reinstalling Logic?

What's the proper procedure when it comes to Jam Packs and 3rd party Apple Loops libraries when reinstalling Logic and OS X?
I'm keeping my Apple Loops on a separate drive and know that I can just drag them to the Loop Browser after reinstalling Logic. However, by doing so, I don't think I'll be getting the "Garageband Instruments" that are installed with the Jam Packs and some 3rd party Apple Loops libraries. Is that correct? If so, what's the best way to deal with this? Always installing all Apple Loops from the disks or perhaps saving a folder (which one?) with the Garageband Instruments before re-installing OS X?
When I last installed Logic, and told the installer to install the Jam Packs on an external drive, they were still installed on the system drive! Does anyone know why? Now what's the best way to move the Apple Loops? What I've done in the past is installing them to their default location, and then creating an alias in Home:Library:Audio:Apple Loops folder that points to the new location on the external drive. Is that the way to go or is another way better?
Any input or help would be greatly appreciated.

Jam packs consist of two types of content. Loop content will go to where you choose to install it (an external drive if you wish). Instrument content has to go to the GB library, for a number of reasons, and the GB library will be on your system disk under Application Support/Garageband.
So backup your GB library in addition to your Logic related stuff.
It is possible to move much (but not all) of the heavy Instrument content to an external drive too, but there are gotchas with this.

  • Can't see Jam Pack Loops in Logic Studio Browser

I have searched many other forums but can't find the same problem. Usually it relates to a separate disk for loops.
I have Garageband and 4 Jam packs installed on my computer (Dual G5 latest OSX up to date). Jam pack 1, Rhythm Section, Symphony Orchestra and something else... anyway I purchased Logic Studio (8) and installed that. During installation I noticed that it detected that I already had some of the Jam Pack loops on my drive so they were "unchecked" automatically and therefore didn't install. Now when I look in the loop browser only the Jam Packs that Logic did install are viewable in my loop browser. Yet the other jam packs are indeed viewable in Garageband. All of this is installed on a single internal drive that is the system drive (500GB) by the way. So I dragged the Jam Pack folders to the logic loop browser and it appeared to be adding the loops, but they are still not visible there.
Also, there is no dialogue box that appears to ask if I want to copy them or leave in current location as many other users have said it should ask. maybe that's because it's all on one drive though.
The other concern is that I wonder if the software instruments that come with the jam packs would be installed/available in Logic? Surely not, if I am just adding the loops to the browser. How do I ensure that I have access to all of the loops and all of the software instruments?
Can anyone please help with this, it would be much appreciated.

    Hi Jaffles,
The best thing to doo is go to the various "Apple Loops Index" folders, remove all the index files that are in there and then reindex your loops by dragging them into the loop Browser. The index files will then be rebuilt.
    regards, Erik.
