Missing keys

I have a 2.66Gz, core duo, 24in iMac. 4 gig mem, OS X 10.7.4. It has always had this problem, even through the upgrades:
Some keys don't work at all. The Caps Lock, End, Home keys don't work. Tried another keyboard and had the same problem. Did the PRAM flash and that didn't help. I can get around not using these keys, but it is annoying. Any ideas?

Open System Preferences > keyboard > Modifier Keys and see where it has the Caps Lock entry:
If there is no selection there at the moment, the caps lock key will not work.
Select caps Lock to restore the key function.
Also in keyboard Shortcuts, click on restore defaults, in case that function was modified by something in the past.

Missing keys with ultrabook pro keyboard helix 2

I recieved my Helix 2 the other day, and the tablet portion works perfectly, but the upgraded keyboard that I ordered with it came with 2 missing keys. Is there a way I can return just the keyboard and get a new one free? Or do i have to send the whole unit in...?

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
Check in BIOS -> config -> Keyboard if there is an option to switch between default and legacy mode.
If you don’t find that option, you may try the Fn+esc combination that changes the function keys to legacy mode, but when the computer reboots, it might reset back to a default mode and you have to use Fn+esc again.

Missed Key Press

I first noticed missed key press after installing and later removing Bootcamp.
After several months of missing key presses, I uninstalled Internet Explore.
The missed key presses were gone (unnoticed) for more than a week and then they started intermittently.
After the Bootcamp removal and before the Internet Explore removal, I would notice the cursor flash about 10 times and stop. Then the next key press would miss.
After Internet Explore removal, I have not seen the cursor stop, but I still get missed key presses. I tested it just now, counted 100 cursor flashes and the next key press missed. Repeated 100 count again and key press okay.
Summary:
Missed Key Press:
iMac 17", OS 10.5.8
After Bootcamp uninstall, missed key press after 7-10 cursor flashes always.
After IE removal, missed key presses seemingly random.
I seen old posts (2006 - 2009) about missed key press which were archived without answers.
Any help would be appreciated.

Capslock blinking twice and then repeating is a diagnostic error message that means that the BIOS is corrupt.
Try a hard reset as follows:
1) Remove the battery and unplug the DC power adapter.
2) Press and hold the power button for more than fifteen seconds.
3) Plug in the DC power adapter (leave the battery out for now)
4) Press the power button

What are you refering to here? Mac OS 9 came out around 2001 ( or about ). Mac OS 9 last run in an emulation mode in 10.4.11 -- Tiger. Mac OS 9 ran on PPC machines that were last produced before 2004 or so.
I think your conclusion you need Mac OS 9 is incorrect.

iPhoto '11, Mac OS X (10.6.8), need to upgrade system to 10.8
We need to verify some information. Are you really running 10.6.8? What hardware?

Most of these are numbers & that's what we want.

Missing key figures from planning area after recent transports

Hi,
We are facing an issue of data not loaded to the planning area , realized this after planning book does not show any values in the current week bucket. However the required values show up in the Infocube. Our setup is as below on SCM 7
external FILE---> FILE DataSource -
>CUBE -
> /SAPAPO/RTSINPUT_CUBE program -
> Planning area ---> planning book
Recent transports included selelction variant for the above program and now we see that some Key Figures are missing from Planning area from the KEY FIG assignement tab option from the above RTSINPUT_CUBE program.
Can any one please help

[SOLVED] Pacman refuses to upgrade due to missing key

Starting today, I get this error messge when trying to upgrade via pacman
error: key "7A4E76095D8A52E4" could not be looked up remotely
error: required key missing from keyring
error: failed to commit transaction (unexpected error)
Generating a fresh keyring (https://www.archlinux.org/news/gnupg-21 … n-keyring/) doesn't resolve the problem.
Anyone else getting an error similar to this?
Any ideas on resolving the issue?

Missing Keys or Characters

When I received my new Macbook, I used a FireWire cable (a standard 6-pin cable, not an Apple one, since it was easier to get one locally than to wait for one to be sent from the city) to transfer my data from my iBook. This went fine. Only the Missing Sync was reported as not transferring properly, so I simply reinstalled it.
However, when I booted and tried to use my new Macbook, the h, v and m would not work. I could press the keys, but nothing happened. I wondered if it were a hardware issue, a problem with the keys themselves. However, I found out that the upper-case H, V and M worked fine. So it was a software issue.
As usual when troubleshooting, I tried turning off each of my extra Preference Panes (system-level modifications), repairing permissions, deleting individual Preferences. I installed the 10.4.7 system update. Eventually, I rebuilt prebindings (available from Tiger Cache Cleaner), which requires a restart, and I can now input all my characters perfectly.
I hope the problem is solved for good. However, quite a few of the applications which I've transferred from my iBook turn out not to be fat binaries ("universal" binaries) but strangely enough, still appear to work. I don't know what effect they have on this machine. The screen does redraw very slowly sometimes, in bands from the top, and the Dock comes up in jerks. The cursor also freezes often. I don't know if all these things are connected. I'll report back if I find out.

Your older apps for the most part are supposed to 'just work' via Rosetta.
Migration assistant is great, however if you are going from a PPC machine to an Intel one I would personally only do a User account migration, that way system files that may be incompatible won't end up on your new machine. Obviously you have had mostly good luck, but at the same time you did have some weirdness appear.
When I got my Macbook, I did a migration of only the user account from my old machine, and loaded the software by hand, replacing with UB versions whenever possible. Except for overloading the machine when it had only 512MB RAM I had no issues at all.
And don't worry about the firewire cable, Apple doesn't make them itself, they buy them bulk from other companies and either just resell them, or have them relabeled as an Apple product.

Missing key in OCR, can't set interfaces with oifcfg

I have installed clusterware on a 2 node cluster running RedHat 5.
OCR and voting disks are on raw devices, but everthing else is shared using GFS.
I can start both nodes but I can't seem to add interfaces through oifcfg.
In fact the SYSTEM.css.interfaces key does not exist in my OCR.
I applied fixs in Oracle MetaLink Note #414163.1, but when I try to do oifcfg to set my interfaces
I get a "registry key does not exist" error.

[root@ora2 bin]# ./oifcfg iflist

Checking the oifcfg.log I could see it was trying to update key SYSTEM.css.interfaces
2008-02-05 17:36:12.504: [ default][2897118400]OCR api procr_open_key failed for key SYSTEM.css.interfaces
I did a dump of my OCR and confirmed that this key does not exist.
I even tried regenerating my OCR with ./clscfg -install. The new one is exactly the same as the old
just different time stamps.
So now I am stuck. vipca won't run until the interfaces are defined and oifcfg won't them
because the OCR is missing a key. Does anyone know how to create this key in the OCR?
Does it need to be there?
I have thought reinstalling from scratch but I do not think anything will change as the only
thing that creates the OCR is clscfg -install in the rootconfig script.

in the $CRS_HOME/install/rootconfig, some people comment out a section that Fails. Specifically this section.

DO NOT COMMENT IT OUT.
$CH/bin/ocrconfig -upgrade $CRS_ORACLE_OWNER $CRS_DBA_GROUP is what writes these keys. People get the failed error when it fails the root.sh and decide to comment it out. Everything looks like it completes, but thiis key is not there. Instead, get the patch below which replaces the clsfmt.bin on all nodes. Uncomment the code in your rootconfig and that should fix you up. Good Luck!
PATCH 4679769 has the fixed clsfmt.bin
Also, check the permissions on your disks! Sometimes that causes it to fail as well.
Also, if on RHEL5, you will need to do the unset on LD_ASSUME_KERNEL in the vipca and srvctl files under $CRS_HOME/bin (which is fixed in 10.2.0.4 so no uncommenting needed)

The dialer in lumia 800 is missing key critical fe...

I have had my Lumia800 for about 5 months now, and I am not happy.
Previously I have owned both Iphones and android phones, and WP7.5 - or Lumia800 - is way way behind these phones on even very simple features.
I could mention a whole list of key features that I am missing, but I will restrain myself to the dialer and some privacy issues, since they are for sure driving me back to the competitors on my next phone purchase.
Dialer:
The dialer in Lumia800 is featurewise at the level of a 1995 phone.
A simple feature such as presenting the last digits of a previously dialed number - when the phone is trying to guess what you are dialing - or being able to seek a number in your list from the alphabetic keys, is something i have buy an app to get. This should - as a minimum - have been included as standard at launch date!!!
I was even expecting some new and innovtive features as well!
Also. When somebody allready in my list has called me, I only see the name in the "recent calls" list. If the name has 3 phone numbers attached to it - like Home, Work and Cell - it is not possible to see which of these numbers that person called me from. So when I try to return the call, I sometimes end up having to dial all 3 of them before I get hold of them.
Now, that is just plain stupid.
Also, it takes way way to many interactions with the phone to even get to the phone app - which simply MUST be the killer app on a mobile phone.
Privacy!
To my very big suprice and anger, all my phone numbers were automatically put on the internet, without my knowledge - when i transferred them from my Android HTC. I only accidently found out.
Now, I dont care wether it is supposed to be an accoount that only I can access, since we all know how good the hackers are. I simply have absolutely NO interest in having my contacts, photos, sms's or ANY other stuff from my phone ANYWHERE on the internet.
That I cannot put a contact into my phone without having it synchronised to the internet is nothing less but a scandal.You consider it a feature. I consider it a serious breach of and attack on my privacy!
On even the newest Iphones I can synchronise directly between my PC and my outlook or any other contact management system with an Iphone interface made for it - without being connected to the internet at all.
Why in heavens name can I not do that on a NOKIA Windows phone????

Thanks for posting and Welcome.
You raise a number of questions on making calls with the Lumia. The first I can see how that might be desirable for some, I suggest your visit this site to make your request known.
The second point is actually implemented. When you look at the call history you will see the callers name (or number if the name is not known) and on the line below that the call status, call data and the number used. If you select the entry to re-dial it will use the same number used for the original call.
The number of actions needed to setup a call depend on which way you choose to do this.
Call tile on startpage > Keypad Icon > Enter number
People tile on startpage > Select person to call > Select number to call
Press and hold START > Press speak > say 'CALL Pete Mobile' (speech functionality depends on localized availability)
As to your comments on contact information there are options available for keeping these offline. For instance you can use a Google account to copy the contacts to your phone, then set the account to not sync contacts (and/or calendar) with Google and remove them from the online account. You can also choose to use a (private) Exchange server.
Also I assume you are aware that most if not all other smartphones like iOS, Android and Symbian devices will synchronize your contacts and/or calendar information to their cloudservice just like Windows Phone does with Windows Live.
While I can understand ones reservations to some extend it is a much more convenient way of synchronizing as it will not require you to have access to your PC and keep your contacts and calendars in sync 24/7 without required interaction in a secure enviroment.

What is equivalent for missing keys on MAC vc PC?

I am switching from PC to MacBook Pro
Some keys on a PC keyboard do not exist on the macbook, so I am wondering what the keyboard equivalent is? I would like to know the equivalent under mac OS x and under Parallels VS running wind xp,
Keys missing:
Page Up, Page Down
Home, End
Insert, Delete (i.e. delete the next character forward; the delete key on the mac seem to be the same as a PC backspace key)
Print Screen (and alt print screen to print focus window only)

If buying a new keyboard won't break the bank, Logitech makes a few cross platform keyboards that have all the keys you'd expect to find as a Mac OS user and/or as a Windows user on the same keyboard.

Stream 7 Keyboard missing keys?

Surprised to not have an "Esc" key, which is pretty standard on keyboards. I can live without the function keys, but that Esc is used by a lot of program.
Anyone have a good workaround?
(PS: anyone else miss iPad's automatic turn-on or turn-off when you open the screen? Anyone miss a physical Windows key, which many other tablets use as an alternate on-switch, as well as a way to get to multiple hidden commands?)

You can change to a more complete keyboard. Bring up the keyboard and tap the button in the bottom right corner (it has a kb symbol with a down arrow.) From left to right, the choices are Default, Split, Pen, and Advanced. You can switch kb's anytime you like, even in the middle of writing.
The advanced kb is nearly complete, missing only the Home and End keys, but you easily achieve those actions with a tap on the screen.

Missing key while using X

your keyboard is set up as a 104-keys keyboard, and the <>| key is the 105th. change to 105 and it should work.
also, since i guess you use a german keyboard layout, be sure to choose the "nodeadkeys" variant.

It couldn't hut to try a PRAM (Parameter Random Access Memory) reset. Mac OS X: What's stored in PRAM?
If it still doesn't work contact Apple for help in fixing it.
