Missing Letter "e"

Hello,
I have an iBook G4 1.2Gh and the letter e has stopped working. The iBook is long since past its Apple warranty so I wanted to check with all of you through this board for trouble shooting suggestions. I have plugged in an external keyboard and i can type the letter as usual. This implies to me that it is a keyboard issue? If this is the case is there any way of removing the keyboard and fixing it? I am hoping that you will advise to use compressed air or to clean a contact. Should I just forget about fixing it and order a new one? If so where does one get a keyboard?

Thanks for the reply. That was a very helpful link for replacing the keyboard. The company that i will order from does not have them in stock or i would already have one on the way. Since i have a bit more time is there anything I should try to resurrect the functionality of that one missing letter?

Please specify the letter you think is missing. You should be able to find all letters you need by holding down keys which generate popup menus to give you additional options.

No, it's not. You get extra letters by holding down the existing keys and selecting them from the popup menu which appears.

Help! missing letter before hyphenation

I have Indesign CS3 ME and there is a problem with the hyphenation (I think).
In ID, it looks great, hyphenate where it's supposed to. However, when I export to pdf using the high quality print, embedding everything, there are frequent and persistent missing letters
like
vio-lent becomes
vi -lent
etc. Not all hyphenated words, but only in the footnotes.
FN font is Franklin Gothic Book, and I have a full version, embeddable, Adobe PDF prepress shows no missing subsets. Also, it happens on fonts other than FGB.

No tried that one yet....the over the air thing seems a bit of fob off to me (I asked how they would do it and they said Nokia would do it as they have our imei no.s).......they are calling me back next week.....will let you guys know what the excuse is next time !

Missing Letter from a Word in Logic Pro 9

Hi there.
This is not a very big deal but I noticed there was a letter missing from the word "Collection" in Logic Pro 9. It's just that it's a bit irritating to see it.. Any idea how to fix it?

10.10.3 + Logic Pro 9.1.8 (64bit) does this....
Couldn't test with 10,10.2 because thats not available to me now...

Missing letter Q on my Powerbook (previously listed in OS9 group in error)

I have a Powerbook G4 1.5 Ghz 512 MB DDR SDRAM running 10.4.6 In the past couple of weeks the lower case Q has stopped working -as you can see I can use the upper case Q but lower case results in a "bong". Spell checker will correct any misspelt words so the system still recognises the letter. This is affecting all programmes (e.g. Word for Mac, Safari, Mail) but I can still use control Q (in lower case) to Quit a programme. Keyboard viewer indicates that lower case Q is assigned to the correct key. If I change my keyboard layout from British to say, U.S. or Australian I have the same problem, but if I log into my wife's desktop all letters work normally. Also if I press Alt Q (lower case) I get "œ" so the hardware is clearly OK. Any suggestions would be much appreciated

There is a missing letter of Path name or file name when vivado SDK linking object files

I used vivado SDK 2014.3 to complie the third source code and could get *.o files. But when linking them, there was an error to show that No such file or directory. I found that there was lack of letter in path name of object file. It's a SDK bug or I don't set up correctly?

I tried it in vivado SDK 2015.1, but there was still the same problem. And I found that it was successful if only importing a small part of source code. What is the reason for this situation?

Keyboard missing letter keys

I have a Satellite L505 and the actual letter keys have come off (h, j, k, l, and one Alt key). Can the keys be replaced?

Missing letter "o" and "e" in cal, address, webpages

In my addressbook, calendar, loaded webpages, sometimes the letter "o" or "e" does not appear.

I have the 3GS with updated OS. Not jailbroken.
Has this happened to anyone before?

Not jailbroken. And I have reset the phone before and then the issue will reappear later on at some date.
And it occurs in apps (like NYT), when I google in the browser, when I am in calendar. Never sure where it will pop up next. I can't get it to do it, instead it just happens on its own.
Will try switching languages and then back to English. Thanks. And Restore is always an option. Will try when it happens again.

When I try to download an app from the AppStore , it asks for my apple password. The problem is in the box that opens to ask this, my apple I'd has a letter missing from it, so keeps on telling me it's a wrong password. I

I've reset and even added the missing letter to my apple I'd in the request for password box, but it seems to have reverted to what it was before. I can't update or download anything as even though my password is right, it doesn't match the I'd so is always going to not work. Any help in putting this right please?

Thanks Ralph, i tried that but it still didnt change the ID on the apps store. Strange thing is I tried my origional password and it worked, it seems the Apple ID ie my email address is not transfering to the app store , as when I try to download something and it requests my password when the Apple ID box opens, the ID is still missing a letter? Im at a loss as to how this happened or how to change it, but as it s working with my old password should I be worried about it? its different to anything else On apple ID , other than the one missing letter its the same email address but a different password for each one. It seems that what ever is in my Apple ID, it wont transfer to the app store Apple ID?

Are you aware that extra letters are found by holding down keys? Try that and I am sure you will find it. If you will just post the letter here, I can probably tell you exactly where it is. Here is an earlier example of the same question:

Missing the letter 'n' at the end of an error message.

Didn't know where to post it, so here it is in the LabVIEW forum.
There is a missing letter 'n' at the end of the error / warning message as shown below.
The bug in the code is fixed, so no need for a lenghty discussion on that. Just posting the fact that an error message is missing a letter.
This is with version 2010.

Mail smtp authentication bug: first character of user missing

Mail has always been very slow sending emails, we are talking several MINUTES !!
And no, i'm not using Gmail, I'm using my own email server, a windows box running HMailserver which is sitting next to my Mac, on the same LAN, no firewall between them.
Furthermore from time to time Mail is prompting me to re-enter my smtp user password.
So I looked at my mail servers logs and found out that sometimes the SMTP username sent for authentification is missing its first letter : [email protected] instead of [email protected]
I have checked the content of my keychain for any old username with a typo that could have been left over, but this is not the case, my mac does not contain a user [email protected]
I have not ruled out that the bug could be on the side of hmailserver, but if you have a similar problem i'd like to hear about it.

I am witnessing the same problem with hMailserver and the applemail client.
I would seem that the way apple sends imap requests to the server may have
been altered in Mavericks (10.9.4).
If wrong login info is sent to the server (missing letter as in this case)
4 times ( or how autoban is configured )
the server will ban the IP for a pre defined period
If you are sending from a static IP you can "whitelist" the IP on your server
/Settings/Advanced/IP Ranges
Which should help as applemail apparently only sends the wrong login request intermittently.
It would be my guess that the issue will need to be addressed by hMail update.

Oh, the message does disappear from my screen, but there's no SWOOSH, and it's not in my DRAFT or SEND files. I can't find it anywhere, but I usually get a message saying that it couldn't be sent for some reason and to try again later. It's not the address, because I use the same address I always use, so I don't know what's causing the problem.
WHERE ARE THESE UNDELIVERED MESSAGES KEPT? I'd like to be able to check just to make sure that they'll eventually be sent. Recomposing a letter, especially a long one, is not my favorite job.

There's no OUTBOX now, so it it wasn't my bad memory. There just was no OUTBOX when I first started looking for my missing letter, then there was, and then it was gone again.. So the question now becomes, where was my letter between the time I clicked on SEND and when it appeared in the OUTBOX? This may seem not seem to be important, but I'd like to be able to track such letters down when I'm wondering what happened to them, and if they have been lost forever.

My computer wont show a specific foreign/native letter.

I'm from Norway and in norway we use the letters æ ø and å, but I seem to have a problem displaying the letter "å" in some applications and websites. In skype I can see both æ and ø but not å. A sentence like this one "Du er så dum at det går ikke ann" would look like this "Du er s dum at det g r ikke ann."

It happens in skype, and in some norwegian websites. It really ****** me off and I seriously need help. Apple support hasnt given me any answers at all and I'm hoping the community can help me.

For Skype I suggest you search/ask in their forums.
For websites, please give the url of one where this happens to you and also with which browser.
Normally even if some font is missing a letter, any normal app will just take it from an alternative font, so it is really strange that you would have one missing altogether.
