Missing letters when typing-also lack of spaces

When I type normally, I have dropped or missing letters and missing spaces. I have changed keyboards but it didn't help.
Ths is what it looks like when I type normally. Otherwise, I need t type very sloly and that just doesn't ork
frme.

It sounds like the Filter Keys function may be turned on. It's an Ease of Access setting that tries to filter out inadvertent key presses. Are you using Windows 7? If so, try this:
Click the Start button, and type "ease of access" into the search box. Click Ease of Access Center from the list of results.
In the Ease of Access main window, scroll down and click Make the keyboard easier to use.
Under Make it easier to type, find Turn on Filter Keys. If the box next to Turn on Filter Keys is checked, un-check it.
Click OK.
Please click the thumbs up button to say "Thanks!"

  • Keyboard misses letters when typing

When I am typing on my keyboard that came with my computer, it misses letters.  I type on several other keyboards and they all work fine so I don't think it is my touch.  Had this for 3 months now and Best Buy refuses to take care of the problem for me.  Can anybody help me?

  • Missing letters when typing on Satellite M105

I am using a Satellite M105-S3084 (Windows XP MCE) and have been unsuccessfully struggling with a keyboard problem since I first bought it. I tend to type fast, especially double letters and find that very often only one of the double letters shows up on screen. For instance "kk" would result in "k" only and similar missing letters even if not doubled. This causes a lot of wasted time correcting what I type.
I know that there are settings under Control Panel\Keyboard ("repeat delay" and "repeat rate") that permit setting speeds, but I have found them frustrating to use. I've tried both at various settings and still have a problem with missing letters. Maybe I just do not know which way to set which setting and I am just getting frustrated, or there is another setting somewhere else whic I do not know about.
Have others had this problem with mising letters while typing and found a solution?
    Thanks.

    Hello Jeff
If I am remembering well there was similar issue with Satellite L10 or L20, I can not remember. This was fixed with new BIOS version. US notebook models are not known to me but if you have time you can check Ask IRIS on US Toshiba page. There you can find many interesting documents.
    Check it under http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSupportSite/supportcentral/supportcentral.do?id=m1
Maybe you will be lucky and find something about your issue with keyboard.

  • Some PDF Documents are Missing Letters when Printing

We use a Windows Server 2008 R2 Enterprise (64-bit) server as our print server. Ever since we moved our printers to this server, several of our existing PDF documents have missing letters when they print. If you modify your print properties and choose "Print as Image", the documents print correctly with no missing letters.
The missing letters seem to come in specific combinations, such as ti, ft, fa, etc.
Our previous print server was a Windows Server 2003 (32-bit) machine and these documents all printed fine on that server.
Are there any known issues with printing PDF documents on a 64-bit print server, or with 64-bit drivers?
    Thank you for your time,
    Jason

This response will hopefully help you towards a solution—I have not encountered the specific problem you are facing.
The image you posted shows the fonts that are embedded in your document: both Calibri and Myriad Pro. However, the second instance of Calibri indicates that some some of the Calibri characters were encoded differently, and I suspect based on the combo characters you listed, these are glyphs and are what your printer is having trouble processing.
The usual solution for print server issues is to make sure all drivers and firmware are updated.
The answer to your question regarding embedding fonts completely is to change your Adobe pdf print preferences to embed all fonts, not just a subset. This must be done when the pdf is being created initially. You can change font embedding by choosing a joboption like Press Quality that includes full font embedding or by modifying the joboption you are already using. In Windows, you can do this at the time of print by selecting the Advanced button next to the printer selection dropdown and changing settings there, in advance by modifying the printing preferences from your printers menu, or by editing the joboptions in Acrobat Distiller.

  • Compaq Presario CQ56-219WM keyboard frequently misses letters when I am typing

When I am typing on my Compaq Presario CQ56-219WM I frequently miss letters and spaces.  I have a USB keyboard plugged in, but the missing letters happens on both the laptop's keyboard and the USB keyboard.  I did not notice this issue happening before I installed a Plugable USB 2.0 Universal Laptop Docking Station.  However, I am a bit baffled since this problem happens even when the docking station is not connected and I am just using the integrated notebook keyboard.
I use Windows 7 Home Premium.
Would someone be able to tell me what to do, if anything, to resolve this issue?  It's really frustrating to have to constantly spell check to try and catch the errors!

Hi MrsJP. Try updating the BIOS in your notebook. Go to this link http://goo.gl/rk8CV and select which version of Windows 7 you are using and click next. It will display all downloads available for your notebook, including the BIOS update.
Here http://goo.gl/wTZr6 is a document that will hopefully answer any questions about finding and updating/installing your BIOS.
Please let me know if this fixes your issue or if you need anything else.

  • Macbook Pro switches order of letters when typing fast

Attention: If you seem to make more mistakes when typing on a macbook pro, it's probably not your fault. Letters get switched around.
This is a problem that has been exhibited in macbook pros as early as 2007 and still apparent today. I could never prove for sure it wasn't me making the mistakes, but today I came up with a consistent test case to prove I'm right. Right now using macbook pro retina display. I noticed this today when every time I typed the word "front" it would come out wrong and I'd have to correct it.
    How to reproduce:
-In an extremely swift, rolling motion (lasting no more than a tenth of a second), type the letters "fron". The left index finger goes on the f, the left middle finger goes on the r, the right ring finger goes on the o, and the right index finger goes on the n. Since all the fingers are different, it is easy to type the 4 letters extremely fast. You might notice that conventionally the left index finger is supposed to type the letter "r", but people who are good at typing always subconsciously make small adjustments to fingering which improve typing speed/efficiency, so this is a common practice. In this case, I always automatically use my left middle finger for the r in "front" without even thinking, because optimization of typing speed has become second-nature to me, just like you would type "lol" with two fingers rather than cumbersomely all 3 letters with the right ring finger.
-The fingers should all stay on the keys and keep them depressed throughout this 1/10 of a second typing motion; this is very common in fast typing and has never been an issue in other computers (it would be ludicrous to expect fast typers to meticulously lift their finger up after every letter and make sure there were never 2 keys depressed simultaneously. If there is ever any overlap between keys being pressed, the key that was pressed first should appear first on the screen, not randomly jumbled order)
-You will notice that even though your fingers landed in the order of "fron", what comes out is usually "fnor" or may even be missing some letters.
-This is reproducible while typing inside any application

That is normal. You have to keep objects that have magnets out pf the palm rest area of the computer.
    From Apple:
Macbook Pro goes to sleep when stacked.
“Placing a device that contains a magnet (such as an iPhone) under your computer or on its palm rests can cause the computer to sleep unexpectedly. This can also appear to cause the computer to have difficulties starting up”.

  • Keyboard producing extra letters when typing and impacting system performance

I’m having some issues with my Mid-2010 MacBook Pro 15. The Apple tech guy was baffled at the symptoms I was experiencing; he was unable to help (the MacBook Pro itself has not been inspected) so I thought I would see if anyone else had a view as to what the issue could be. I’m happy to fix it myself if possible (I’m quite comfortable with doing repairs/upgrades/general maintenance on Macs and PCs at large) and would rather avoid a hefty fee from the Apple store or other repair services if it can be avoided (unless the error is due to faulty hardware where Apple will fix free of charge).
The issue lies with using the internal keybaord. Most of the keys on the keyboard work just fine, a couple don’t, however when I use the internal keyboard it significantly slows down animations (i.e. clicking on the Applications icon on the dock will take a good 5-7 seconds for it to finish the pop-up). There hasn’t been any liquid spillage or suffered from any falls so I’m not quite sure how this problem came about. These are some of the issues/symptoms I’m having which may help in a diagnosis:
-Shift key is stuck and the Mac will boot into Safe Mode on its own. Holding down the Option key upon pressing the power button until the spinning gear appears will allow the Mac to boot normally. I can use an external keyboard and the Mac runs just fine. However, if I use the internal keyboard....
-Animations run slowly and it cannot load graphics programs such as iMovie. (An error message pops up, but I do not have this latop with me at time of posting this to find what it is. If you need to know what the error message is, let me know and I will post it here when I get home). Even though I’m in ‘normal mode’ for less of a better term, using the internal keyboard will result in the Mac performing like it is in 'safe mode' until…
-Pressing any key on an external keyboard. The slow animation issue is resolved (i.e. clicking on the Application icon on dock pops up in less than a second as per normal) and the Mac will return to running as normal and everything is very responsive. iMovie will now load correctly (without the error message).
-Some letters when pressed on the internal keyboard will type another letter directly after it (e.g. If pressing ‘q’ it will type as ‘QT’ (in caps due to the Shift key being stuck), same for pressing ‘t’ will display as “TQ”. This also happens to ‘a’ as it will type ‘AB’ and ‘b’ where it will display ‘BA’. In total about 6 or 7 keys around the keyboard are affected where pressing one key will result in it being typed in caps AND a second correspoding letter. Pressing that second corresponding letter will also type in caps and it's "linked" key.
-Selecting individual files with the track pad (after pressing a key on the internal keyboard) will pick multiple items within a folder as if you were clicking and dragging to select multiple files. If I click on one file and move the cursor (without holding the click or ‘touch to drag’) to a file below, it will select everything between the two selections. Pressing a key on the external keyboard returns everything including the track pad back to normal
I’ve performed a clean install of Snow Leopard which took a little longer than usual. The install disc took some time to actually load into the installation screen, roughly 5-7 minutes longer. The external keyboard doesn’t appear to work on boot up until I get to the log in screen. I’ve cleaned inside Mac from what minimal dust was there. Finally, I’ve been unable to reset the PRAM or SMC as the laptop boots into Safe Mode due to the Shift key being stuck and the external keyboard not being recognised until I reach the log in screen to enter my password. Other keys don’t appear to be working (i.e. holding down C to boot from disc and other key commands on start-up do not work), the only key on the internal keyboard that appear to work on boot is Option which allows me to bypass the 'auto-safe mode' boot.
I’m quite sure this is hardware related and if feasible I will fix myself, if not I’m happy to use an external keyboard (except when needing to perform boot commands which is where I’ll run into some issues).System specs are as follows:
    MacBook Pro 15 - Mid 2010 (April)
    2.4GHz Intel Core i5
    4GB RAM
    160GB hard drive
    NVIDIA GeForce GT330M 256MB
I’d appreciate any possible answers you have. Apologies if this has been posted elsewhere, I’m quite sure this is a unique issue so I’d be surprised to learn someone else has had this problem too after all the hours of research I’ve done!
    Thanks.

lol, I was going to add "as long as it's not doing that all the time" ...but was hoping for the quick fix. You might want to check your Activity Monitor and see which program or background process is causing the activity ...have you installed anything lately that coincided with this problem? You also might want to try booting into Safe Mode to see if things still persist.

  • I am unable to control my iPad 2. It is generating random letters when typing and when I try to delete it generates more letters unless I go slowly! Any advice?

I am unable to control my iPad 2. When typing and deleting it generates random letters! Any advice

Start with this and see how it goes. Quit all apps completely and reboot the iPad.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the recents tray will appear with all of your recent apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Missing letters when report ist printed

    Hello,
I have a problem with Crystal Reports XI R2
We use it with a Visual Basic 6 application.
Sometimes, not always some letters are missing or cutted like:
"Hello World" -> "He  o Wo ld"
Or an "U" is only printed like "u" or just lower bow "_"
Or on "Seite" the dot from "i" is missing
    Summary:
    Crystal Reports XI R2
    Visual Basic 6 application
    Different Computer
Different Printer (HP Laserjet, Virtual Printer from "Filedirector")
    hopefully someone knows a solution
    Michael Grünwaldt

    Hello, thanks for your tips
I will try one after another.
I have downloaded SP3 from the directlink above.
    I have found SP2 here-> https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/businessobjects-downloads
But I cannot find SP1 until now. The login on http://service.sap.com/bosap-support
doesnt work with the Forum Login (!?) So I have to call the german SAP support for that.
I will give a few more details that might be interesting
We used CR8 in our Application. Now with new Computers there were problems with printing to a virtual network printer. CR8 hangs unreproduceable. So we upgraded to CRXI. Now its the test phase and the hanging CR did not appear anymore. But now we have the problem with the missing letters. Because I am new to CR and especially CRXI I just brought CR to work and did not install any SPs.
    Best Regards

  • Misses first letters when typing?

im not sure if its just me getting used to the new keyboard on my macbook, but ive had it a few days now and a lot of the time it misses the first few letters i type.
is this normal or is it me being daft?

Could be just getting used to the keyboard. I have to press harder than my old powerbook but I like the MacBook keyboard since I got used to it. The feel is much better.

  • New ipad skips letters when typing

When I am typing on my New iPad's touch screen, some typed letters are dropped. I hear the key click and I see the key icon darken, but the typed letter is not displayed. This happens in about 1 out of 10 letters typed. I am typing with one finger.
This does not happen when using the touch screen on my iPhone, just on the iPad.

Reboot the iPad and see if that helps.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.

  • Trouble with missing letters when combining Microsoft Word documents

    Hi there,
I've been having an issue that I'm hoping someone can help me with.
When I combine multiple documents (9 in total, .doc & .pdf files), certain words have letters missing - leaving gaps in words. It seems as though it only seems to happen to headings with the "Arial (Headings)" font style.
After some research, I realised others were having a similar issue and it could be fixed in the Adobe PDF Printer properties (Properties > Preferences > Default Settings:). However, after testing a few different settings nothing seems to be fixing the issue and I'm still having the same letters missing in the final converted document.
I'm using Adobe XI Pro - just wondering if there is an update/hotfix for this? I'm on version 11.0.07. For some reason I'm unable to update so I can't check this.
Can somebody offer any assistance with this?
    Thanks

    Hi Michael,
I'm afraid I'm not entirely sure how to do that - can you explain further please?
To expand on the issue - I have converted the files that were having this issue and when opened no characters were missing - however I then combed these files which brought the issue back and the characters were missing again.
I'm a little confused as to why the characters weren't missing when they were converted from .docx to .pdf individually, but they were once combined?
    Thanks

  • Safari black screen and no letters when typing

I have just purchased my first iPhone, the 16 gig 3GS and having issues with it. I immediately updated the firmware to the 3.1.2 when I got home and never really played with it upon initial purchase so I do not have anything to determine what exactly is the issue. Here is are my problems...
Note: I did not back up the phone prior to updating the firmware.
Letters typed, whether in text messages, contact information, the search bar... do not show up. The cursor moves and the letters are "there", but on the screen it is still empty. I do get numbers in the keypad when dialing. Upon restoring the phone at one point, the letters started showing up, then after opening safari, they disappeared, which brings me to my next issue...
Safari and other internet browsers, they all seem to load a page, but the only thing you see is a black screen and a black scroll bar where the web page should load. I have tried two other browsers and met with the same result.
I have attempted to restore the phone on two separate computers multiple times. I deleted all back ups, redownloaded the update to make sure that nothing was corrupt, reinstalled itunes twice and hard reset the phone as well multiple times.
Still, there are no letters showing up and the browser screens remain black.
Is anyone else dealing with this issue? Any constructive advice or solving techniques would be very helpful. Being my first iphone, please be patient if I do not understand exactly what you are saying.

Yeah! Problem solved: It's a QT issue.
Cause: Mac Update Software downloaded a faulty QT.
Solution: Download QT from Apple's QT site.
Great to have the Video back
