Missing loops in the new GarageBand

Hi, I have installed the last version of GarageBand 10.0.1 (AppStore).
Where are the missing loops who was available with the previous version.
For example :
70s Ballad Piano 03.caf
70s Ballad Piano 04.caf
70s Ballad Piano 05.caf
Thanks for help !

Don't know if this is still an issue for you, but I had a similar problem after upgrading; some loops from an old song I did were gone. I did a custom upload of the loops from GarageBand '08 install disc, which replaced the missing loops in my AppleLoop file. It also somehow deleted GB 10. I reinstalled GB from the App Store. Most of the loops were then available. Some were dimmed. Some were still missing from the list, even though they appeared in the Apple Loops folder. So I did a reindex of the loops and all now seems -- for the present, anyway -- to be working properly.
Another possible path I discovered too late: go to the link here, download the missing loops, place them in your Apple Loops folder in your system library. Then reindex the loops.

These are aif files but should work okay. I think the caf files are the same thing, only compressed.

    1. DO i have to install JAMPACKS on my new Macbook pro?
    2. Are JAMPACKS still compatable with the new GB?

See: This document explains what the in-App purchase is about.

Do you still have your old Mac?
How did you migrate from the old Mac to the new Mac? Did you transfer your old software and documents using Setup Assistant? Then your old GarageBand '11 version should have been migrated, and all your instruments.
if you did  not migrate GarageBand '11, copy your old Instruments Library and Loop Library over from the old mac. Copy the following folders to a thumbsdrive and merge the missing dontents into the corresponding folders on your new mac:  (from the system library - the top level library folder on your Macintosh HD):
    /Library/Application Support/GarageBand/
    /Library/Audio/Apple Loops/
And if you would like to continue to use GarageBand '11 for access to missing features, copy also /Applications/GarageBand over, but to a subfolder of Applications. I recommend, to install the old GarageBand as well. It can be used in parallel to GB 10.0, and will come in handy, if your old projects are having problems.

The JamPacks are nice to have, a terrific collection of instruments and loops, but if you did not have them previously, that will not help with your missing instruments. You can instll them by buying Mainstage 3. They work well with GarageBand 10.0

  • HI I WAS WONDERING IF THE NEW GARAGEBAND WOULD ERASE OR REPLACE MY CURRENT GARAGEBAND SOFTWARE AD LOOPS, OR IS IT AN ADD ON TO MY CURRENT PLATFORM? IN OTHER WORDS WILL ANY THING CHANE WITH MY CURRENT GRAGEBAND SOFTWARE?  THANKS - WP

What is your current GarageBand version?
Your profile signature says "OS X Mountain Lion (10.8.5)", but the newest GarageBand, version 10.0.2, requires Mavericks.  Are you planning on upgrading from Mt. Lion to Mavericks?
The newest GarageBand 10.0.2 is very different from the earlier GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5.
Some features, like podcasts, are missing. The GUI layout is more like Logic than GarageBand, the effects can no longer be combined freely, but you have to use the predefined patches. But this version adds nice new features like Drummers or Arpeggiators. and not all of your audio units may be compatible.
If you upgrade to GarageBand 10.0, the new version can open your older projects, no problem. But once opened in GB 10.0, they will no longer work in GB '11.
The installer will not overwrite GB '11, but move it to a subfolder in Applications, and you can use both versions cuncurrently. They do not interfere and you can use GB '11 as before.

  • I have a new mac book pro. Will my old jam packs work with the new garageband?

I have a new mac book pro. Will my old jam packs work with the new garageband?

I have same problem, been using a macbook 13" for nearly 9 years but it was failing so I bought a macbook pro 15" and after having problems and error messages when trying to download loops ( I finally went to the App Store and opened garageband from there which install some loops), it finally downloaded some but not all the loops that my jam packs had, also I have tons of non-apple loops that I purchased over the years but I want to know if they will work on my new mac ?

  • What exactly is in the in-app purchase in the new Garageband?

I've found that the lessons in the old version of Garageband are the same as the new one. If you have the old verison and donwload the lessons from it, you also have the lessons for the new version without paying extra. Likewise, it seems, with many of the extra instruments, loops, and sounds.
My question is: Other than the extra drummers, which are new features, what do you get in the new Garageband in-app purchase that wasn't in the old Garageband? Are there new instruments, loops, and sounds?
    Thanks
    Bob
Note: I did post this question in a reply in this thread https://discussions.apple.com/message/23553002#23553002 but thought it deserved a opic of its own.

I think I can answer my own question. There are a fair number of instruments that are available. I also found that all of the older Garageband instruments are available. At the bottom of the instruments list is a Legacy category. So whether you need all the new ones if you already have the old ones is up to you. I expect that it's the same for the extra loops.

  • Is there a way to display played chord names for software instruments in the new Garageband?

I know this was possible in previous versions, and displays by default in Logic, but can the new Garageband show chord names for MIDI inputs on software instruments?

No, you cannot list the files from the res folder. You could just put a textfile with all the image names in the res folder, and read the images file names from there..

  • Does the new garageband work for making podcasts?

  • Did the new GarageBand wipe away my third party plug-ins?

After downloading the whole new GarageBand, I cant seem to find my plugins, like my TDR Feedback Compressor and vintage organs. WHat happened? I cant seem to find them.

After downloading the whole new GarageBand, I cant seem to find my plugins
Don't you see them in GarageaBand, or have they vanished from the /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/ folder  ?
Some Audio Unit plug-ins will no longer work, since the new GarageBand 10.0 is a 64-bit only application; the 32-bit plug-ins are incompatible.
See this document:  GarageBand for Mac (v10.0): Unexpected behavior with Audio Units plug-ins
Audio units need to be enabled in the Audio/Midi tab of the preferences.
To use audio unit plug-ins in GarageBand 10 access them from the Info-tab of the Smart Controls for the track:
Click the button to reveal the Audio units, and then click into the field to add a unit from the pop-up menu.  You may need to scroll the "Info" panel to make the Audio Units visible or to drag the dividing line between the Track area and the Smart Controls upward.
Most panes in GarageBand 10.0 can be scrolled.  If you do not see the scroll bars, they will appear automatically, when yous start scrolling. Or enable them permanently in the System Preferences > General > Scroll Bars. This is useful, as long as you do not know yet, which panes have hidden items that will need scrolling, to make them visible.

  • Help with the new Garageband?

I'm trying to export a file to iTunes (it's about 3 hours long) and I didn't see an option to make a podcast on the new Garageband so I just went ahead so make a regular audio file.
When I clicked on Share and tried to export it to iTunes, it said, "The bounce file exceeds the maximum file size (AIFF 2 GB; WAV 4 GB). Please change the format to CAF or decrease the bounce range."
I've never heard of CAF before and when I typed it in Help, it came up with no results. Does anybody know how I can fix this?
I even tried copying and pasting some of the audio files from my Garageband project into another one but it won't let me open two projects at the same time. I'm perfectly fine with making multiple projects in order to reduce the size and the time of the file but I don't know how or if it's even possible to save all the clips I recorded. I really don't want to lose my hard work and I need to get this project onto my iPod.

I'm trying to export a file to iTunes (it's about 3 hours long) and I didn't see an option to make a podcast on the new Garageband so I just went ahead so make a regular audio file.
The podcast option has been discontinued in GarageBand 10.0, sorry.
When I clicked on Share and tried to export it to iTunes, it said, "The bounce file exceeds the maximum file size (AIFF 2 GB; WAV 4 GB). Please change the format to CAF or decrease the bounce range.
The CAF option is not available in GarageBand, only in Logic. So this error message is buggy, ignore it.
But the file size limits do apply. If you want to export a 3 hours song, don't export as WAV or AIFF, export in a compressed format. Try to share with medium or low quality:
Or try to share your song in separate sections of less than an hour, that do not exceed the file size limit, if you need the maximal quality.

  • Is it possible to use NI's Kontakt library in the new Garageband from Mavericks?

Please help! I can't find the "generator" button in the new Garageband... Did Apple remove it from Garageband? Or ist there an opportunity to get Kontakt run in the new Garageband?
    Thanks!

I hope I will be able to help you once I get Garageband 10 working! I highly doubt they removed Audio Unit support, try the online help.
If you can help me with my installing problem that would be great. I can download the basic content, but then Garageband gets stuck at the "installing" stage, like in the picture.

    No.
I find it extremely frustrating that Apple does not care for such an obvious bug affecting one of the basic funcionalities of AirPlay. Unless, of course, if there's something I don't know - but I've done some research and it seems that plenty of people have same issue and no solution is settled.

  • It is very difficult to import audio files from extern drives (NAS) into the new garageband

it is very difficult to import audio files from extern drives (NAS) into the new garageband.

Are you trying to open an audio file in GarageBand or a GarageBand project?
To open an audio file drag it from your NAS to a real-instrument track in GarageBand.
If you are trying to open a GarageBand project - can you open the same project, if you copy it to your system drive?
    Trying Google translate -

open the editor pane, click the Track tab at the upper left of it; it's now called Pitch Correction

installing GBv10 doesn't delete the old version, its in a folder in your Applications folder

  • How do you move tracks to a new project in the new garageband 11

i just recorded 8 songs in the new garageband 11 on one project and now i have to split them up into there own project but to no i caint figure it out. i wish i never upgraded. anybody have any sugestions?

The simplest way would be to duplicate the joint project in the Finder and to delete all tracks you do not want from the copy.
But what versions of GarageBand and MacOS X are you really using?
Your profile signature can simply not be right:
GarageBand (Mac) '11, Mac OS 9.2.x
If you just upgraded to the newest GarageBand, are you perhaps using GarageBand 10, on MacOS X 10.9.2?
In GarageBand 10.0 you can transfer tracks between projects by selecting a track in on project, using the command "Edit > Copy" and then opening the other project. Now paste the copied track to a track of the same type.

  • Transferring old Garageband projects to the new Garageband v10

Can I transfer old Garageband projects to the new Garageband v10?

Can I transfer old Garageband projects to the new Garageband v10?
Yes, the new GarageBand 10.0 is able to open the old GarageBand '11 projects. It will update the project and save a copy in the converted format.
