Missing mail accounts

my 3 mail accounts and all that is within have disappeared and been replaced with a single mobile me account. bad timing! please can you give me a remedy for restoring my mail to how it was. thanks
bruce

This suggests some event, such as using up all the free space temporarily (such as a video app might do), closing the lid on a laptop before the Mail has finished it housekeeping task, or before its screen goes dark. A sudden power loss to desktop computer can cause this, as well.
In each of these scenarios the preference file is over written or not refreshed as administrative tasks did not complete, and the account setup info is lost. If the account folder remain on the hard drive, as is usually the case, and if you re-enter the account setup info, and decline if prompted to Import anything, Mail will normally rediscover the existing account folders.
If the user has a MobileMe account, that is setup via the info in System Preferences.

  • Missing mail accounts in Mail

I have just migrated to a new computer from my old one and when I go in to mail I have none of my inboxes showing. I have all my accounts shown in system preferences, internet accounts but they fail to show up in my mail app. This is rather frustrating. Can some one please help?

If it is checked, uncheck and check it again, Close out Mail and Re Open it
If issue persists Go to Finder> Select "Go" in the Menu Bar at the top of the Computer Screen> Hold "Option" Key select Hidden Library under Home Icon> Go to Mail Folder> Go into V2 Folder> Go into MailData> Move Accounts.plist to Desktop> Restart Computer
If issue is solved move Accounts.plist to Trash> Empty Trash

Any clue, how i can add a mail account to apple mail app, but with separate password / pin to open it.
Years ago there was a program called mail switcher which added this functionality, but thats gone.
    cheers

They would have to be logged in as separate users in order not to see your account in Mail. Whatever accounts put in Mail under your account will show up. All mail accounts usually have there own user and password. The only thing you can do is to remove the password from Keychain and take the account offline so you don't keep getting prompts for passwords each time it checks for mail.
    Not a great solution.
Best way is to give the other user their own user account with their own mail and enable fast user swithcing to log between the different users if all access the computer frequently.

  • "Mail account" is missing in iTunes 9

I just downloaded the newest version of iTunes. In the previous version, under "Info" there was a section that displayed the default mail account.... something like [email protected] This was important as I have more than 1 mail account on my computer. With this upgrade, that information is missing. The only place I see it is if I click along the top on 'Store' and there's a line that reads "View my Account ([email protected])" Is it no longer within the iTunes software??

Perhaps we're not talking about the same thing. When my touch is plugged in, I go into itunes, into the 'Info' section. Within 'Info', there is a section entitled "Sync Mail Accounts From:". On my pc, there is a choice of Outlook or Outlook Express. Below that in a box it reads 'Selected Mail Accounts' and it lists my default mail account. It is that account that it reads information for my contacts, note, etc. So that is the Mail Account I'm talking about.

  • Missing Email Accounts in ~/Library/Mail

I just got my iPhone an tried to sync with my Mail accounts but only a very old POP mail account (no longer in use) showed up on my iPhone. I checked on my computer and none of my current POP email accounts from Mail show up in ~/Library/Mail folder. Yet all my email accounts are working fine. I've done a Finder search for my current email accounts and weirdly they don't show up anywhere else. I checked in the Hard Drive and in my Home Folder. Can anyone suggest a way to get my email accounts to show up in ~/Library/Mail so I can sync to my iPhone without doing it manually? Thanks!

If you're not using IMAP, Mail is still communicating with the mail server, so even if you see those types of messages, nothing abnormal is going on. There's no such thing as invisible email, so if there were really anything being sent or downloaded, you'd see it.

  • Apple Mail account missing in Mac and iphone

Last Sunday, one of my mail accounts disappeared in apple mac.
This morning, the same mail account disappeared in iphone.
I did not delete any account.
What's more strange is that the account seems to exist since I cannot add a new account using the same setting/information. It says the same account already exists
I have exactly the same mail settings on mac, iphone and iPad. Hopefully my ipad won't get screwed up.

I just had an account vanish on my apple mail. I was able to re-enter it though.

  • Missing Exchange account in mail sync options

    Hi,
I just upgraded to Snow Leopard, so I could access my Exchange accounts on my MacBook and iPhone 3G. I have successfully synced Mail w/Exchange. I can access my work mail, calendars, and notes on my MacBook. However, the Exchange mail account will not sync with my iPhone. It doesn't even show up in the list of mail accounts to sync in iTunes. Oddly enough, the calendar, notes, and contacts do sync and do appear in the syncing options. The only problem is actual mail account.
    iPhone OS 3.1.3
    Any help will be useful.
    Thanks

If your Exchange account is not available below email accounts under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences with iTunes, you can manually create the account with the iPhone's Mail client. Select Add Account at Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars followed by selecting Microsoft Exchange and follow the prompts.
When syncing contacts and calendar events over the air with an Exchange account or with a MobileMe account on an iPhone, you can also sync contacts and calendar events direct with a supported application on your computer via the iTunes sync process, but in this case the contacts and calendar events will be duplicated on your iPhone when doing so.

  • TS1868 My yahoo e mail account on my yahoo is sometimes missing messages sent from my mac or ipad and vice vers

My yahoo mail account on yahoo is not synchronize with my yahoo mail set up on my mac air and ipad

I really doubt that this has anything to do with Firefox. You say your are trying to use Yahoo Email, Firefox has nothing to do with that other than it displays the site for you.
If you are having problems with Yahoo Email, I suggest you go to the Yahoo Email page and look for a Help or Support link and go there and see what you can find.

  • Mac Crashed... Mail Account Missing

I went to my desk earlier today to find my mac completely locked up and not responding to anything(has never happened before). To get it out of this, I held the power button and did a hard shutdown and then rebooted. As I normally do when I restarted, I opened up Mail and Safari, only to be prompted with a setup your mail account window, the one you get when you open it the first time. I closed it and tried it again, with the same result. I havent had time to mess around and see if I could find the account file, but I was wondering if I did find it if it was probably corrupt, or if there is any way to get back my emails.

    Hi -
I just suffered a similar problem. You will have lost your original Preferences file for Mail.app. See thread: http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=7922931 and others in this forum.
    Hope this helps,

  • Missing my Google mail account on my Mac

I have MobileMe as my main email account, which syncs between my Mac and iPhone. I also have a Google Mail account, which I decided to setup on my iPhone. The problem is, after syncing my devices by MobileMe AND physically connecting the devices via cable, the Google Mail account do NOT show on my Mac??!! I remember setting this up before and the Google Mail account automatically appeared on my Mac, I removed it after a while, but now have decided to set it up again, using the same process, but this time, it is not setting up automatically on my Mac? Also, I changed the name of my MobileMe account on my iPhone, but the change has not been passed to my Mac via either MobileMe OR sync. What is going on? I know these things are done automatically when you sync devices, because it has worked for me in the past with no problem. Can someone shed some light on my problems? Thanks for your help guys!

Sorry, but you didn't do this. Doing what you are wanting is not supported - never has been supported and is not possible.
The point for this option is most people are accessing their email account or accounts with an email client on their computer - people have been doing this long before the iPhone. The option for email accounts under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences is for transferring email account settings for a selected email account or accounts from a supported application or email client on your computer to the iPhone's Mail application if you don't want to manually create the account or accounts on your iPhone. This is not a sync process. This is a one way data transfer only for selected email account settings from the Mail.app on your Mac to the iPhone's Mail application.
If your Gmail account was set up with the Mail.app on your Mac, what was the point for deleting the account on your Mac? You could have disabled the account without deleting the account from the Mail.app.
If you want to access your Gmail account with the Mail.app on your Mac, you need to manually create the account with the Mail.app on your Mac. If this is pointless and a waste of time, don't do it. Your first post in this thread was done 25 minutes ago. To create an email account with the Mail.app shouldn't take you longer than a minute or two.

  • Keychain Items Missing for Mail Accounts

Mac Mail keeps randomly prompting me for passwords for certain mail accounts.  I keep hitting "OK" (without changing the pre-populated password) and eventually the account comes online.
I have noticed the the problem accounts do not have any corresponding keychain item for them.  I have tried deleting accounts and then setting them back up, but no new Keychain item is created (older accounts have corresponding keychain items).  The problem accounts are all POP accounts.
I have tried Keychain First Aid numerous times.  No problems are identified.

Well what can tell you about Mail and Entourage,... Mail seems to be better integrated with OS X, and other Mac programs and since it is included with OS X - It Is Free!
To me Entourage has more the feel of MS Outlook so if you were a Win.. user you would most likely prefer it more. Entourage does have some sync services, ie: contact, iCal events, and notes with .mac, so I guess .me would also work, I don't use .mac/.me so someone else would have to fill you in there... this is my .02 worth.

  • How do I set an e-mail account as default for new messages?

I have two different e-mail accounts set up on my iphone. I want to be able to use the e-mail view that includes messages from all accounts/inboxes. When I am in that view and create a new message, my iphone will automatically select one of my accounts. It is unfortunately not the one I most often want to use. I don't find a way to change that setting - but I am sure it is possible! How do I do it... Thanks!

No I don't have that option. I can see the corresponding option for calendars so I understand where it should be - but it isn't there. It's as if the account set up by mobileiron is disregarded and the system only thinks I have one account. But still - the mobileiron account is listed right there....
If there isn't a simple solution that I had missed I guess this looks to be a bug, right? How would I report such....?
    Thanks

  • If I no longer have access to my original e-mail associated with my account and my passwords and e-mail accounts associated with my Apple device, how can I fix this solution? I have 2 ipads and 1 iphone and I cannot update any of my apps.

I tried to change the e-mail associated with my apple account because my school was closing and I knew I would no longer have accss to that e-mail account, however now all 3 of my devices ( 2 ipads & 1 iphone are screwed up as far as the e-mail accounts associated with each device and the passwords. I have tried all the on-line support/suggestions and took my devices to a local Apple store and no one/nothing helps.
Does anyone have a solution? I can purchase new apps but I cannot update any of the apps I have to any of my devices.
