Missing MAIL menu bar(s)

I haven't written about this before because I wasn't sure that something was really missing. I had thought that maybe I was "remembering" something that never really existed. Today, however, I remembered that there definitely used to be a RETURN button on a MAIL bar (menu or tool). More important to me than the RETURN button, though, were other buttons that I had installed, such as size (bigger or smaller). I would appreciate it if someone could tell me how to recover the missing bar(s).

There was definitely a RETURN button. Of that, there is no doubt. I used it to reply to E-mail messages, but I can't do that anymore, at least not as easily. However, thanks for the link. I'm hoping that I can find some of the buttons that I used to have.

  • Lion and Mail menu bars

Does anyone else think the Mac team got in a hurry on Lion?  Why are they using the old trash can and info button in the menu bars. In fact, all the icons in the finder and mail menu bars look old fashioned. I'll bet Steve didn't see them!

No. Snow Leopard's Mail isn't compatible w/Lion's, so it needs to do the conversion to be usable. Maybe you should consider trimming the number of e-mails you've storred.

My safari menu bar is missing.  The menu bar for desktop, HD, and apps appears, but when I click on Safari, it disappears, so I can no longer see my buttons for History, etc.  I think my husband (pc user) clicked it away when borrowing my computer.  Any ideas how to retrieve it?  Thanks.

I too was having the same problem However, I could access both the menu bar and the dock by hovering my mouse over them so it wasn't a huge problem but I prefered having it there anyway. I was not in full screen mode and I could still go into full screen mode if I wanted to.  I found the easiest solution was to just quit safai and restart it, but it might not work for you considering you couldn't access you menu bar either way.
I found this article that allows you to hide/show the menu bar and the dock through TextEdit (didn't work for me) http://www.mactricksandtips.com/2009/07/hide-the-menubar-or-dock-in-specific-app s.html It is pretty old so it might not work for lion and a bit risky if you don't know what you're doing so I wouldn't really recommend doing it this way.
And KSheppard, I know it's not really any of my buisness, but the way to get answers to a question isn't by insulting others and being quick-tempered. Even if you feel like you were insulted first, don't try snapping at people who aren't obligated to help you. Honestly, it just makes everything easier if everybody is cooperative and polite.

  • Icons Missing In Menu Bar

    Hi All,
I upgraded from Yosemite 10.10.2 to Yosemite 10.10.3 tonight and am having a few issues.  The biggest issue I am having is half of the icons are missing from my menu bar.  There are blank placeholders for them.  I've included a screen shot.  It is also doing the something in Finder and Safari.  I haven't tried any other applications.  Additionally, my MacBook Pro has been really laggy/dragging since the update.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciate.
    Thanks!
    Kyle

In Finder, press Shift + Command + G. Type in /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras, right click on one of the menu files, and click Show Package Contents. Open the Contents folder, and then Resources. You should see a .pdf file that looks the the menu bar icon. Do you?
Another suggestion, just as a test, would be to boot into Safe Mode, and see if you see the icons then. To boot in Safe Mode, restart the computer while holding the Shift key.

  • Why is AirPlay status icon missing from menu bar?

After updating to Mavericks and installing/configuring a new AirPort Time Capsule (APTC), no AirPlay icon was present in the menu bar of my Mac. I updated my Apple TV3 software and configured it to the new APTC network. An AirPlay status icon appeared in the menu bar for about 1 day only, and then disappeared. In the Apple TV settings, AirPlay is "On". On my Mac>System Preferences>Displays>Display>AirPlay Display menu (lower left) shows a greyed-out "No devices detected". My AppleTV light is on. Is there a known problem with APTC, or am I missing something?

Cycle power on all of your devices (turn On first your 3rd party router then Time Capsule, then mbp and apple tv). Make sure that your MBP and Apple TV are connected to the same network.
When router mode settings on Time Capsule are set to Bridge Mode, then router is resposible for distributing settings to all of your devices and could have some issues with it. Simply cycling power might resolve your problem.
Some routers might require to be off for a bit longer (up to even 10mins). Try it.

  • Sync, Mail, menu bar, iPhone

After updatig to 10.7.2 and tranferring to i Colud:
My Sync menu bar icon is still existant av make the menu bar hang when toggeled.
System Prefs icon "MobileMe" is also still there, and marking the Syncronize tab makes the System Prefs freeze.
Mail won't quit due to something like "registering syncronice prefs" (my translation from norwegian, see picture).
The sync between iTunes and iPhone is also extremely slow, probably of same sync reason.
    Anyone?

Yes, I did read "the manual". Both the official site and several others. And I think I did it right, - or not (?). When the "MailSyncPref" referred to in Mail has been working for a while (~5 min.) it disappears, and I can quit Mail, access menu bar and sync iPhone through iTunes. Still it seems to work very slow. The only thing I've not done yet is to backup to iCloud, because I worry that the system will be occupied rest of the day/night.
Still someone out there with a good idea?

  • Menu bar icons / clock (all but spotlight) are missing from menu bar

I started woke my MacBook up from sleeping for a few days this morning and everything ordinarily on the right side of the menu bar save the spotlight menu has disappeared.
I used to have a displays icon/menu, battery icon, network icon/menu, and clock displayed on the right side of the menu bar and they are now gone. If I go into the control panels for display, time, etc., to re-enable the menu bar icons, I can check the check box to display icon in menu bar, but the settings won't save! (Whenever I go back into the settings panel after making the change, the changes are reverted!)
Its getting pretty frustrating. Anyone have any ideas please?

    Hello OCMacMerlin
If the OnyX Rebuild services didn't or won't fix it, then have a look at the following:

I think you accidentally hit CMD+Option+8, do it again, or open System Preferencess>Universal Access>Seeing & turn Zoom OFF.

  • IMac 10.5.8 - Missing File Menu Bar

Hey all - I work Tech support with iMacs and I have an issue I can't seem to fully resolve.
When users log into iMacs running 10.5.8, some log in fine while others log in and their File Menu bar is missing. I've looked around and it seems that removing the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist in the ~/Library/Preferences folder fixes it temporarily, but the problem still persists...
Anyone else having this issue? Is it an Apple problem or something wrong with how we have the accounts set up on our server?
    Thanks in advance.

I've had this happen from time to time on my 10.6. also. Have no idea why. Completely random. Since updating to 10.6.5 it's gotten better. But just clicking anywhere makes the Menubar appear instantly. In fact, never saw it on my 10.5.8 when that was still alive.

  • Date and time missing in menu bar

From time to time the date and time disappear from the menu bar.  Other times most of the items disappear from the menu bar.  What causes this?  Yes, a reboot puts them back but a reboot should not be necessary.  Any thoughts?

    Might be corrupted preferences ...
Type or copy and paste the following:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.systemuiserver.plist
Click Go then move the com.apple.systemuiserver.plist file to the Trash.
    Restart your Mac.
Then monitor the time and date in the menu bar.

  • Pse elements 7 missing standard menu bar

I am using pse elements 7. I have reloaded the program onto a new harddrive and my old one crashed. The pse 7 loads onto the new hardrive but the standard menu bar ( the tool bar at the top of the screen) does show up. The one with file, edit, find, etc on it. Can anyone help?
    Thanks Robert
No response needed. After some reseach I solved the problem. vista - start menu - control panel - personalization - adjust font size (dpi)  (set this the 96)

And if you want to continue running at a screen DPI larger than 96 (so you can read your other applications), see this FAQ:

I got a message saying there was an update, and when I clicked it the icon went away. When I open the app manually it hovers on the menu bar, greyed out, then disappears.

Same here. Got it up and running again by finding the app in the adobe creative cloud folder on my hard drive // acc // creative cloud. Double click.

  • Items missing from menu bars

The text in my menu bar has disappeared if I hover over the space where it used top be the dropdown menus appear but no header text is visible in the menu bar, this is the same in Safari every thing works the as before but does anyone know a cure?

Launch the Activity Monitor in /Utilities, select all processes, and force quit the WindowServer one. That's what controls the menubar. That should do the trick.
