Missing menu bars in KDE apps

The menu bars have disappeared in some KDE apps such as Okular and Kdenlive, so I can't use them properly any more!
But some apps like KWrite seem to not be affected.
I am using Plasma Desktop 5.2.1.
Pressing Ctrl+M does nothing.

I think this was a theme problem. I deleted my .kde4 directory and the menu bars returned...

OS is 64 bit Vista. Menu bar is missing on organizer page. ie no ability to upload from either cardreader or scanner in "get pictures."  Returned all I could find to default, deleted entire program and reloaded same. Still no menu bar.

  • How can I turn off auto-hide menu bar in Terminal app?

This is soooo anoying.   Open terminal app in fullscreen mode, open a few tabs, now when you move your mouse to the top to click on a new tab, the menu bar shows itself and covers the tabs.
I want to turn off this feature to auto-hide the menu bar.  I would much rather have it move all the tabs down a bit when the menu bar apprears.
Any ideas to help fix the issue?

Can't turn that off. It's a feature of full screen mode. If you place your mouse at the bottom of the tab you want to select, the Terminal Menu bar doesn't pop up for me.

  • Recover missing menu bar in full screen mode?

    Hi All!
I have recently installed Lion and am playing around with full-screen mode. As you perhaps are aware, the menu bar at the top of the screen disappears in full-screen mode, but can be popped back into view by raising the cursor to the top fo the screen.
I would like to have the menu bar at the top of my full-screen apps at all times, because I have it sprinkled with a variety of useful information (time, stock ticker, dropbox status, etc.
I haven't been able to find any trigger in System Preferences or in specific app preferences that will let me do this. I realize that I could simply maximize windows, etc. -- in other words, I know there are workarounds.
But I would like a genuine solution that would permit me to use full-screen mode while retaining an omnipresent menu bar.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!
    Greg

Thanks, I rebooted and it came good, but if it happens again i'll try that

  • Missing Menu Bar

Just installed Ovi Suite 3.0.0.284 on Windows 7 and am now missing the menu bar at the top as the window is right at the top of the screen.
Any ideas on how to get it back?

This is probably a silly question, but are you sure it's missing? I had a problem with mine that it was up too high and I just couldn't see it. I right-clicked on the program on my taskbar and chose "maximize" and was able to see the menu again so I knew it was just too high for me to see (and for my mouse to grab). Alt-space opened a menu that lets you choose "move" and I was able to pull it down a little using the down arrow on my keyboard.

  • Missing Menu Bar items

My finder quit working recently. I restarted and rebuilt permissions, restarting again. The finder is now working but all Apple menu bar items are gone and when I check them in System Preferences it does not good. I still have third party items in the menu bar, air display, evernote, 1 password and dropbox. The items I am missing that were there are date/time, time machine, battery percent and possibly one or two more that I'm forgetting about. Any help wold be greatly appreciated.

No FW or USB devices, other than Apple USB keyboard plugged into the cpu and Apple single button mouse plugged into the keyboard.
BUT - I may have figured out what was going on. This is the slowest system I've put 10.4 on and it's been awhile since 10.4 has been out. I started thinking about what kinds of issues people had when it was first released and I recalled a lot of people getting hung up by the initial Spotlight indexing. Since I had a hunch this was somehow a factor, I decided to try turning sleep off and letting the system sit for awhile. When I started it and worked with the first five or ten minutes, the icons were not there. But when I came back an hour or so later, they were. I restarted the system and it did so in the manner I would expect, not hanging as it had all the other times. Once restarted the icons showed up. I have since installed the stand alone 10.4.2 combo and restarted and the icons are still there. Will go for 10.4.6 and see what happens.
My initial theory at this point is this. This is the slowest system I've put 10.4 on and I hadn't seen much of an impact on my other systems from the initial Spotlight indexing, but for whatever reason, it seem to really impact this system. I didn't see this on my dual 800 G4, nor the dual 2.7 G5, but I think that is what was going on with this system. That's my current theory until I hear something that seems more plausible.

  • Missing Menu bar items - last effort

I've searched and read here and found no solutions, so I'm posting this as a final attempt.
I'm working with a system new to me. It had OS 9 on it when I got it. I checked for firmware updates that might be needed and it seemed current, so I installed 10.4 from my retail disc (versus disk from my G5). No problems. I did a custom install with none of the foreign (to USofA) languages and only a couple of the printer manufacturers drivers. Once installation complete, I finished the setup. Repaired disk permissions, then ran the stand alone 10.4.6 combo update. Repair disk permissions again - then used software update as a shoping list for needed updates and downloaded most of them and installed in the order released. Those I didn't download, I used software update to install. From the MacFixit site, I found that reinstalling the combo update fixed this issue for some - it did not for me. I also tried, System Preferences, and turning them on, but typically they would not show and in one instance (I think it was Sound, volume control) the box would check, from my clicking on it, then the beach ball, then would unchecked - all on it's own.
This is the second rebuild of the system and still the issue persists. The first rebuild was with a 200 GB HD in the system, but it's too large to make full use of with the stock controller, so I purchased new 120 GB HD.
I have no third party menu bar items and almost no third party software on the system. The primary piece is the current version of Cocktail, which I have been using to repair permissions, etc. though I have also used Apple's Disk Utility for the same and seen no difference. I have also tried deleting various Apple pref files, per other threads in this forum - to no avail.
One last tidbit - in case it means something to someone - restarts on this system take forever and sometimes I have to do a manual shut down holding the power button in. This is not anything I've seen before - on the dozens of systems I've worked with/on.
At this point, I see nothing more to try than move to an earlier version of Mac OS X, perhaps 10.3 even, though I really wanted 10.4 for my wife's system. I've worked with 10.4.6 on many systems and not seen this, including my dual 800 G4 and my dual 2.7 G5.

No FW or USB devices, other than Apple USB keyboard plugged into the cpu and Apple single button mouse plugged into the keyboard.

  • Missing Menu bar in InDesign 5.5

Help! My menu bar has disappeared in Indesign and looks like it has happened to others too. Please advise how I can get it back. I have a catalog I am working on and need the menu bar. Thank you.

Is it hiding behind the control panel?

  • Missing menu bar in Organizer

Trying to work in organizer and the top menu bar wasn't showing.  Called Adobe tech. support and they said I had to change my screen resolution from the present 125% to 100%.  Then I had to restart and, of course, every program on the computer is now running at 100%.  Any way to run at 125% and still see the organizer menu.  The menu does show up in Edit mode.

Whilst the Editor Menu will appear at 120% to 149% the Organizer Menu (and the advanced button in downloader) won’t. Sometimes the mouse or tool cursors are distorted.
Try a setting of 115% or 116% otherwise 100%. A common display resolution, notably for notebooks/laptops, and netbooks is 1024 x 768 but PSE requires a screen height of 800 for full functionality.

  • Mountain Lion - missing menu bar when in full screen mode

    Hi,
just installed ML on my late 2008 MacBookPro 15´. Everything works ok except the fact that I lose my menu bar when I switch a screen in full screen mode. Bringing my mouse pointer to the top of the screen usually dropped down the menu bar. Not so anymore with ML.
Does anyone experienced the same issue? Is this a setting preference?
    Thanks!

I just got QT Pro 7.1.3, but I just can't seem to get rid of that annoying menu bar. Even the older 6.5.1 didn't show the menu bar when in Presentation mode.
Can't really help you. Seems to work properly in OS 10.4.8 for me. May be a bug that only shows up when QT v7.1.3 is used with OS 10.3.9 which needs to be reported.

  • CC Menu bar panel and app status issues

After my iMac 27" late 2009 had to be force restarted after an unrelated crash the Adobe CC app shows that none of my apps are installed, even though I have Photoshop, Illustrator, Muse Lightroom and Indesign installed and running correctly. Lathough it doesn't seem to be effecting use of my apps I would like to see CC to display correct information as I might miss out on updates etc.
Also, I'm using multiple 'spaces' on my Mac to quickly swipe between various full screen apps. However, every time I swipe to another space the Adobe CC menue panel pops up. A quick click makes it disappear again but it becomes quite annoying after a short while.
Has anybody got any solutions to these problems?

Try to uninstall CC desktop app from Applications > Adobe Creative Cloud folder and then re-install CC desktop app from the CC wensite. https://creative.adobe.com/products
As far as the "spaces" issue is concerned, check the below article.

  • Menu bar icons / clock (all but spotlight) are missing from menu bar

I started woke my MacBook up from sleeping for a few days this morning and everything ordinarily on the right side of the menu bar save the spotlight menu has disappeared.
I used to have a displays icon/menu, battery icon, network icon/menu, and clock displayed on the right side of the menu bar and they are now gone. If I go into the control panels for display, time, etc., to re-enable the menu bar icons, I can check the check box to display icon in menu bar, but the settings won't save! (Whenever I go back into the settings panel after making the change, the changes are reverted!)
Its getting pretty frustrating. Anyone have any ideas please?

    Hello OCMacMerlin
If the OnyX Rebuild services didn't or won't fix it, then have a look at the following:

  • Aperture on Intel iMac running 10.7.5 has blue streaks on color photos and on Aperture menu bar

Everytime I open latest version of Aperture, I get blue streaks across the photos and on the menu bar for the App.  Photos that are opened and or exported in Aperture are corrupted with blue streaks.  This problem makes the App completly useless.

They are nothing like I expected to see.  When viewing at 1000% (in Graphic Converter), they appear to be different shading on individual pixels although it can easily be missed, even on my Retina display on my MBP?  They definitely do no appear as lines or streaks.
In the EXIF info, I see that the exposure is described as the Creative Exposure Program.  What does your camera manual say about that?  Any googling I do seems to refer to some sort of Art Filter?  Whatever it means, it also seems that the photo had to be rotated.

  • Extended desktop - choosing location of menu bar?

Is there a way to make the menu bar -- for Finder and (especially) apps -- appear on the "second monitor" instead of the built-in monitor of my new iMac? If not in Tiger, is this possible with Leopard?
Why? I'll want to use the built-in for TV/video and the second for text-work, but text-work is very difficult with the menu bars of an app on the other monitor!

I feel foolish because I've used the "arrangement" preference, but (oops) I just didn't notice where it says "to relocate the menu bar, drag it to a different display." Duh. (and even without reading, the way it works is very Mac-ish and intuitive, even without instructions) Well, thanks for pointing it out. Craig
P.S. There are other problems -- like when using "full screen" in EyeTV sometimes (depending on what is open) everything on the second desktop goes black and the dock doesn't work, and the only way to recover control is with "F11, click on the desktop, F11" and then things are OK -- but overall the dual monitors work well.

  • No menu bar-based applications will re-open on restart, 10.8

I got a Late 2012 iMac in December of 2012. I have had one persistent problem since then. When I restart the machine and the OS resumes where I left off by re-opening apps I had open as the machine restarted, everything will re-open except for any application that exists soley in the menu bar.  That's all I can narrow it down to. Applications that do not re-open 100% consistently are:
    - Air Video Server
    - Fantastical (Mac App Store)
    - Menu Bar Audio (Mac App Store)
    - Alfred
    And these ones vary:
    - Dropbox
    - Tweetbot
    It gets weirder.
I have all of these items in my login items. Well, I have had them there. When I restart (either with a resume or when I disable that, booting from scratch), the items don't launch and they're removed from my login items list. I've seen this happen at least a half dozen times. I can re-add them and restart, they'll be gone again (this happens with about 50% of restarts).
    I've tried:
    - New user account
    - Complete disk wipe and OS reinstall (not restored, fresh install)
    - Booting from safe mode, removing login items, booting normally, re-adding, restarting again
    - Every version of 10.8 since I got the machine - 10.8.1, .2, .3
I completely stumped Apple phone support for hours a couple months ago. I don't have the hours now to try that all over again, and my 3 month phone support limit is up .. so I'm trying the community. I'm completely stumped.
    Anybody experienced anything remotely similar?

    Hello,
Open console in Applications>Utilities, check the system log for the date/time of the last problem  & the Startup right after that for clues.
