Missing modules from previous kernel

Hi guys,
It's a long time that I can't fix following problem.
I MUST run on kernel 2.6.14. Why ? When I try to upgrade my kernel my modules from old kernel(2.6.14) are not compiled to upgradet kernel.
I use following commands: make clean bzImage modules modules_install
Old school. I download kernel from www.kernel.org.
Can u help me, finally to solve it ?
Thank a lot.

Aren't they compiled or aren't they installed? What is the output of:
make modules
make modules_install
After modules_install, is there a directory in /lib/modules matching in name your kernel version (i.e., the output of
uname -r
after you reboot with the new kernel)?
Anyway, on 2.6 kernels, it should be enough to do so:
make
make modules_install
cp arch/i386/boot/bzImage /boot/<thenameyoulikeandyouputinthebootloaderconfigfile>
That is to say, with 'make' you compile the modules too.

    Here are typical layouts for the iTunes folders:
    The iTunes folder is normally inside <User's Music>. I get the idea that things are different but I don't have a clear picture yet. I think you've somehow managed to get the media folder pointed at <User's Music> instead <User's Music>\iTunes\iTunes Media. A screenshot of the iTunes > Edit > Preferences > Advanced might help confirm. Once we know what is going on it should be possible to make suggestions as to what to do next.

  • Missing extramodules in /lib/modules in custom kernel compiling.

    Hello.
    Im totally a newbie when it comes to compiling a kernel.And i have this little thing.
    I follow this guide https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke … ut_ABS.And everything works fine and i do make modules_install.
    But when i look inside /lib/modules i see extramodules-3.1-ARCH from standard kernel there. I missing extramodules for my kernel. Should i not have one for my kernel??
    I wonder if i miss to tick something in make menuconfig and if so where should i look for it??(i must be blind) or is it something else that i do wrong?
    thanks
    freddie

    Look here.
    From what I remember, /usr/lib/modules/$(uname -r)/build points to a kernel source which is indeed prepared to build external modules. Prepared in that it it's partially configured which is a requirement for building external modules.
    Vmlinuz is your bootable kernel.

  • [python] setting a variable in a loaded module from the main script

    Hi,
    I have have two python scripts, one generally controlling my desktop wallpaper, the other downloads the APOD picture from the net and sets it as my wallpaper.
    At the moment I can get the wallpaper script to load the apod script as a module to use its functionality.
    The problem comes when I try to get the module to recognise variables set from the parent script:
    I have both scripts using the variable  'verbose' to control how much output is printed, (which can be set from the command line options).
    How do I get the 'verbose' variable in the imported module to be the same as the variable set by the script?
    I can get it into an imported function using a keyword assignment when called, 'download(verbose=options.verbose)', but this is forgotten when other functions are called.
    I have also tried making it a global variable.
    I assume it is because I am importing the module and setting the default value before the main script sets its value, but I cant see a way round this.
    Any ideas?
    Many thanks,
    Drew

  • Script to easily build modules for custom kernels

    I got bored, and thought of this ages ago. I have no use for it now, but i'm sure someone else will.
    run:
    abs-module $modulename $kernel
    $modulename is any kernel module that's available in /var/abs, so if you have some that arent in a default abs, put em in /var/abs/local and they will be spotted by this.
    $kernel is the name of the kernel that you want to compile for. this can be found with 'uname -r'. If $kernel is not specified, then it will default to what you are running now.
    this will only work for module packages that have a variable called _kernver which sets the kernel it will be compiled for. I know all the winmodems, ATi and drivers I maintain do, not sure about some of the others. nvidia won't work.
    #! /bin/bash
    # Set the variables up
    module="$1"
    kernel="$2"
    pacman="1"
    current="`uname -r`"
    # Check things
    if [ -z "$module" ]; then
    echo "No module specified"
    return 1
    fi
    if [ -z "$kernel" ]; then
    echo "No kernel specified, building for: $current"
    kernel="$current"
    fi
    if [ ! -e "/lib/modules/$kernel/build" ]; then
    echo "Specified kernel is not installed"
    return 1
    fi
    # Check if module exists
    origdir="`find /var/abs -type d -name $module`"
    if [ -z "$origdir" ]; then
    echo "Specified module does not exist"
    return 1
    fi
    # Prepare to build
    newdir="/var/abs/local/$module-$kernel"
    if [ -d "$newdir" ]; then
    rm -rf "$newdir"
    fi
    cp -R $origdir $newdir
    cd $newdir
    source PKGBUILD
    if [ -z "$_kernver" ]; then
    echo "PKGBUILD does not have $_kernver."
    return 1
    fi
    sed "s/$_kernver/$kernel/g" -i PKGBUILD
    sed "s/pkgname=$pkgname/pkgname=$pkgname-$kernel/g" -i PKGBUILD
    # Build!
    makepkg
    # Post build messages/install
    if [ $? = 0 ]; then
    package="`find $newdir -name *pkg.tar.gz`"

    pacman -U $package

    echo "Build failed"

    sorry if there's any stupid bash in there, i'm tired. and yeah, I know it's a tad verbose and spacy, but it seems to works fine.

    Iphitus > I'm looking 4 something like your script that will allow me to load spca5xx when running my custom kernelbeyond
    Unfortunetely spca5xx seems not to be manageable by your abs-module script, as its PKGBUILD doesn't have a variable called _kernver.

  • What authorization required to deploy module from NWDS 7.1

    Hi Experts,
    Need to deploy custom adapter module from NWDS 7.1 to PI server, Please help me to know exact access/authorization role required one developer to publish the module.
    I have gone through many blogs and thread but not able to find exact administrator role which help to deploy the custom module on PI server.
    Error I am getting in NWDS 7.1, while deploying module:
    Could not establish connection to AS Java on [<server detail>]. Authentication did not succeed. Wrong or missing security credentials (password) for principal [PIUSER], or the specified principal has no permissions to perform JNDI related operations.

  • A day from previous month

    Hi,
    Is there any function module to get a day from previous month? I tried FM 'CCM_GO_BACK_MONTHS', but it is not working correctly.
    If I give the sy-datum input as '03/30/2007', it is giving the previous month date as '02/30/2007'
    Thanks,
    Uma.

    Try.....
    report zrich_0001 .
    data: day_from_previous type sy-datum.
    call function 'RE_ADD_MONTH_TO_DATE'
      exporting
        months        = '-1'
        olddate       = sy-datum
      IMPORTING
        NEWDATE       =  day_from_previous.
    write:/  day_from_previous.
    Please be sure to award points for helpful answers to all your threads today, and mark as solved when answered completely.  Thanks.

  • TCP socket I/O from the kernel

    We've been working on extending our filesystem support from UDP to TCP,
    and have run into an apparent roadblock. We'd like to know whether
    Sun is aware of the problem that we're seeing, and if so, if there
    is something else we should be doing to avoid it.
    We've been using the "sockfs" module to create sockets [where
    sockfs_xxx is found using modlookup("sockfs", "xxx")]:
    avp = sockfs_solookup(AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, 0, "/dev/tcp", &rc);
    sop = sockfs_socreate(avp, AF_INET, SOCK_STREAM, 0,
    SOV_DEFAULT, NULL, &rc);
    binding, and setting some socket ops:
    sockfs_sobind(sop, (struct sockaddr *)&client_addr,
    sizeof(client_addr), 0, 0);
    sockfs_sosetsockopt(sop, SOL_SOCKET, ... );
    and connecting:
    sockfs_soconnect(sop, (struct sockaddr *)&server_addr,
    sizeof(server_addr), 0, 0);
    We're able to send data successfully with:
    sockfs_sosendmsg(sop, &nmsg, &uio);
    where uio.uio_segflg = UIO_SYSSPACE;
    But when we try to receive with a similar
    sockfs_sorcvmsg(sop, &nmsg, &uio);
    we regularly receive EFAULT errors.
    [This same sequence works fine for both send and receive if we use
    /dev/udp instead.]
    As we trace through the call, we see that TCP uses a special UIO
    function (uioipcopyout) that simply returns EFAULT for any
    UIO_SYSSPACE move. The use of this function appears to be driven by
    queue settings (STRUIOT_IP) in the TCP stream queue initializers.
    So, our questions are:
    Is there a way to override this behavior (safely)?
    Should we be using another interface to do socket I/O
    from the kernel? (At first glance, that wouldn't help
    us here, as this deeply rooted in the TCP implementation.)
    Are there any code examples (published or otherwise)
    that would help us here?
    Thanks for any help you can offer us!

    you can do this in Java 5.0 using jline (must be around version 0.9.91) it must be running on linux/unix/mac though. i think in the future jline may support windowsTerminal also. however with java 6.0 you may wonder what's the point
    public static String readPassword(String prompt) {
    try {
    Terminal t = Terminal.getTerminal();
    if(t instanceof jline.UnixTerminal){
    UnixTerminal ut = (UnixTerminal) t;
    ConsoleReader reader = new ConsoleReader();
    //ConsoleReaderInputStream cris = new ConsoleReaderInputStream(reader);
    Character mask = new Character((char) 0);
    //reader.setEchoCharacter(new Character('0'));
    String line = null;
    do {
    line = reader.readLine(prompt,mask) ;
    if (line != null){
    //reader.setEchoCharacter(null);
    reader.flushConsole();
    ut.restoreTerminal();
    return line;
    } while(line != null && line.length() > 0);
    } catch (Exception e){}
    return null;
    }
