Missing music on burnt mp3 disc

I recently began converting my own albums to mp3 discs for my new car stereo which plays mp3 cds...however, when I go to burn the cd, it reports that much of it cannot be burnt as an mp3 disc...almost every album! I seem to remember converting everything to (m4) or something of that nature...would that have an effect, or is there some way that I can unlock my own imports to allow burning? They all play fine on the ipod and burn normally as a music cd.
Thank you.

To burn an MP3 CD, all the songs have to be in mp3-format already.
iTunes and most other MP3 CD burning applications don't convert other formats.
This is contrary to burning an Audio CD, where all formats are converted 'on the fly' into the native format of an Audio CD.
All non-mp3 formats (except purchased songs from the iTunes Store) can be easily converted to mp3.
iTunes: How to convert a song to a different file format tells you how to do that.
iTunes creates copies of the original songs in the chosen format.
Hope this helps.

  • Transfer from MP3 disc to PC Music Libr

Can anyone advise on how to transfer tracks from an MP3 disc to PC Music Library in Media source? I use the Media source and transfer the tracks to my PC but can't access the MP3 tracks later to burn a CD or transfer to the Zen Micro. The location of the track stays in the D:\ ... dri've and not transferred to the hard disk under C:\...
I have no problem with audio CDs as I just rip them. What should I do with MP3 files?
    Thanks.

In Windows Explorer, copy the music files from your MP3 CD into your music directory (say, "C:\Music"). Then, in Creative MediaSource, import the music files from "C:\Music" into MediaSource's PC Music Library.

  • HT1329 How do I convert an AAC music file to mp3?

Hi: I have several albums on my new computer (G5 desktop running OS10.58) iTunes 9--that are in AAC format. When I try to burn these albums, the prompt tells me I can't burn them in mp3 unless they come to the burning in the mp3. I didn't realize the former owner set the import of music cds as AAC. Anyway I want to  convert all my albums that are in AAC to mp3 cause I can't play my music burned cd in AAC in my cd player. In OS panther there was a menu option to do that. In this version of itunes on this computer, the only menu option is to turn a file to AAC. Hummm. Now what do I dp?Any help would be greatly appreciated. Carol

Correct.  iTunes can only burn an MP3 disc from songs already in MP3 format.

Carol,  You can use iTunes to convert AAC to MP3.  Follow this guide:

  • Missing music

    Hi
My library is 3,500 songs, and about half is "missing".
Well they are not actually missing, but Itunes thinks they are.
Sometimes individual songs are marked as missing, sometimes whole albums. The "missing" songs and albums are in the iTunes folder structure, but with a different folder name which iTunes isn't seeing. Here's what happened.
I made hundreds of 'batch' changes using the "multiple item information" window, as follows: Having selected the songs and opened the information window (via apple-key I), I would change the album name, or delete the composer field, or change the artist name or whatever, and save the results.
All seemed fine until today when I got the dreaded exclamation point for a song I tried to play, with the attendant popup saying "...original file could not be found ...". "Spotlight" can find it though. It is there ... in a different folder!!
Here is what is actually on disk:
...Ella Fitzgerald>Ella_ Intimate Ella> 10/12 songs (my new album name)
...Ella Fitzgerald>Intimate Ella> missing 2 songs (the original album name)
ITunes shows all 12 songs under the new album name I gave it, and shows 2 songs as missing
(I did a "consolidate library" and that is when the extent of the problem manifested).
It seems to me there is a bug in the "multiple item" update function, where not all selected items are actually updated. Some of the originals get left out and remain in their original folders.
The question now is how do I get Itunes to "find" the "missing" songs and albums without loosing the dozens of hours of edits I've made to the library??
And how (or should I) report this to Apple. (I was on the phone with my AppleCare person and all I got was "we don't know ... good luck")
    Thanks

    Hi
    My ideas:
    1. Make sure that every music file has mp3 format (it may sound silly, but I was looking for one album for a while after I realised that it was .acc not mp3  );
    2. Try to copy them one more time to your N97 using Ovi Suite;
    3. Check if music files has been physically copied to your phone memory (the simplest way to do it is to browse phone folders while connected via usb).
    good luck

It won't work. Dell only supplies recovery CDs. They have the hardware needed for the Dell and that's it. I would also guess that it does not have SP2 incorporated into it. You could mess up your Mac, but it would not install so why even bother with it?
You need the full XP with SP2 embedded or Vista CD or DVD. Anything less won't work.

  • How to create different files on an mp3 disc (itunes)

hello! I'm trying to make an mp3 disc from iTunes, i managed to make the mp3 and it works fine, but when i put it in my car all the songs are under one file called "home" (not sure why). How can i divide up the music into different files/more than one file other than just "home"? Essentially i want an mp3 disc divided into categories/files.
    Thanks!

I was searching for an answer to how to delete docs from the "Pages" app on an ipad. I don't know if this is your exact question... My answer for me was to go into itunes, click my ipad under "devices" in the left tabs column, then click "apps" in the top row, scroll down to "Pages" and click. You see your docs listed, select the doc you want to delete and hit the delete key on the keyboard. It'll ask if you want to delete. (I'm not sure if you need to delete it on the ipad also, but that's what I did).
I just added a new doc in itunes, but when I synced the new didn't show up. So I closed "Pages" and iTunes and still no show with added doc, but what I deleted was not there. I then on the ipad I clicked "Copy from iTunes" and added the new doc that way. Not sure why it didn't automatically bring in the added doc this time.
The link I got the "delete" docs info from: http://www.macworld.com/article/151185/2010/05/ipadfiles.html
    Hope something helps.

  • All files from x hard drive or mp3 disc have a "!" symbol  in front of the song titles in my library, and i cant find them on my ipod

all files from an external hard drive or mp3 disc imported to my itunes library have  a "!" symbol in front of the song and i cant locate them in my ipod.

The exclamation point means iTunes cannot locate these tracks/files in the location you originally imported them from.  Meaning either they were deleted or moved to another location.  Right->click on any track and select Get Info. Then under the Summary tab look to see the location where iTunes is looking for the track.
If nothing else, removed all your missing tracks and re-import them.

  • Can't play PC burned MP3 discs w/out adding to library???

    This is really annoying me...
When I insert an audio cd, an mp3 cd burned with iTunes, or even music files burned as a data cd with iTunes, the disc shows up in my source list, and I can play it without having the songs added to my library.
When I'm done listening, I eject the CD, and it's as if it was never there.
My roommate has all these mp3 discs that he burned on his pc (I think as data discs) that do not show up on the source list.
I usually drag the disc icon to a new playlist in order to listen to it.
I turned off "copy files to iTunes music folder", because I don't want his files on my hard-drive.
But the file names still get added to my library and when I'm done listening I have to go in and delete them all - Major pain in the butt.
Is there a way around this?
Even if I have to use a different app to listen to his discs - that's fine.
I just want to be able to pop in his discs, listen to them, and then pop 'em out when I'm done, without them leaving any 'residue' on my Mac.
    Thanks in advance,
    Dennis

    Just downloaded & tested Audion.

  • How to burn as MP3 disc?

I have bought some songs from the AppStore.  I want to trnasfer them to an MP3 disc so I can play them in the MP3 player in my car.  I have been unable to do so.  When I follow the instructions at http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1550?viewlocale=en_US it still won't burn them.  How can I get them onto a disc I can play in my car?

    dltom wrote:
When I checked the files that cannot be burnt, I found that they were all those I had bought from the iTunes Store.
Are these listed in the 'Kind' column as 'Protected AAC audio file'? - this would apply to songs bought from the Store before it changed to selling unprotected versions. You cannot convert protected files to another format.
    There are two options:
    a) You can burn them to an audio CD and rip that back into iTunes.
    b) You can convert the songs to unprotected ('iTunes plus') for a fee: go to the Store and click on 'iTunes +' in the right sidebar.

Aloha b...desperately need help. Downloaded .wav files from my digital recorder to my computer. When I open them, Itunes library pops up, but none of my downloads are to be found. I know Itunes plays .wav files because a fellow student emailed me with a .wav download, which automatically went into Itunes and played right away (temporarily). I urgently need to get these notes on a cd so I can study during my car time. Am obviously not a computer wiz...any advice?? Assuming I can figure out how to get these files to show in my library and play, will they be able to be burned onto a cd? Mahalo for your help.

  • Receiving "internal error" when trying to burn mp3 disc from playlist

I'm trying to burn an mp3 disc from a playlist that I've created. Unfortunately, I keep getting an error. I'm currently running iTunes 11.0.2 on my iMac which is currently running 10.8.3.  I've done this many times before, and this is the first that I've had this problem. Here's the error I keep getting:
The attempt to burn a disc failed. An internal error occured.
If you want to retry the current failed burn, click on Retry. If you want to go to the next disc burn, click on Next. Otherwise click on Cancel.
    Here's how it goes down:
I've created a very long playlist which will require the use of multiple discs.
I right-click on the playlist and select to burn the playlist to disc.
I then get the usual burn settings pop-up menu where I select the "MP3 CD" format with a preferred speed of "Maximum Possible"
Note: Since experiencing this error, I have tried varried speeds ranging from 8x to 24x; I still get the error.
Note Also: I have tried selecting "Audio CD" instead, and the playlist will burn and the error does not appear. This is not an option I want to go with, however, because of the length of the playlist — it would take, like, 25 discs...
For a moment iTunes will read the disc, then ask permission for the playlist to be split across multiple discs. I say "ok".
At this point, iTunes will say that it is initiallizing for about a split second then immediately say it's finalizing and spit out the disc. This is when the error pops up.If I select to "Retry", it doesn't retry to burn; it just saves a .txt file to my desktop that is  a copy of the error message. There's no error code/number or anything, though - just the exact same message. "Cancel" and "Next" seem to behave correctly, though.
I have tried repairing disk permissions and restarting my computer. I've also tried using different brands of CDs: Memorex CD-R and Innovera CD-R. The error persists.
Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

You need to use iTunes to transfer music to your iPod. You can download the latest version here:

  • Itunes:  i want to find a single fix for missing music on itunes rather than using "iTunes: Finding lost media and downloads" on a case by case basis.

recently when i was creating a playlist, i realized that i was missing music from my extensive itunes (12.0.1.26) library.  i found the solution "itunes:  finding lost media and downloads" and used the general approach to find the music in finder and copy it to itunes.  i don't want to do this every time i find i am missing music.  is there an automated fix?  i want apple to develop a way to automate the fix.  can it be that this isn't a problem for many people?
i ask this now because i just looked for music i thought i had but can't find.  maybe i am wrong about having the artist, but it has happened on another artist too.  i can't trust itunes to tell me whether i have a song or not.  i don't want to keep going back to finder, especially when the instructions in "itunes:  finding lost media and downloads" doesn't actually reflect my system (os x 10.7.5).
i don't want to try to do a restore.  i have never done a restore on my mac (previously a pc user).  and, i don't know how far back to take the restore to find the old music.  and then music i have added since i lost the old music wouldn't be there.
i understand that there are so many system variables that apple would need to take into consideration with a general fix.  but:  i am assuming that apple's changes have caused my problem and feel that apple should do something to fix it.  perhaps my assumption is incorrect.
    thank you for your help.

limnos, i always have backups.  the problem is that i don't know how far back in time to take a restore because i don't know how long this has been going on.  and, if i take the restore back very far, i will lose what has been added since the music started to disappear.
i don't even know what you mean when you say "you will check there aren't any broken links (use a script from the Dougscripts web site) before you do a backup."
i agree with you to some extent about not automatically installing upgrades.  i'm still running lion and was pushed to it from snow leopard.  the problem is that i have a hard time envisioning the changes described in an update to judge whether something is valuable or not.
i have questions about your last paragraph.  i'm going to repeat it here and then insert my questions as i go.  please forgive my all caps for the moment:
"Now for your missing music, is it that there are broken links, or are things missing completely from the library?" I DON'T KNOW ENOUGH TO ANSWER THAT QUESTION.  I BELIEVE THAT THE PROBLEM HAS TO DO WITH BROKEN LINKS.  WHEN I COULDN'T FIND THE MUSIC THAT I THOUGHT I HAD LOADED INTO ITUNES YEARS AGO, I FOUND THE CD'S AND IMPORTED THEM TO ITUNES.  I GOT A MESSAGE ABOUT SOME OF THE TRACKS BEING DUPLICATES THAT ASKED WHETHER I WANTED TO IGNORE OR IMPORT.  I CHOSE IMPORT BECAUSE ITUNES DIDN'T TELL ME WHAT WAS DUPLICATED.  IT WAS ONLY AFTER RE-IMPORTING SEVERAL CD'S THAT I REALIZED THAT THERE WERE NOW DUPLICATES OF THE CD'S:  THE FILES I HAD JUST LOADED AND THOSE THAT I HAD LOADED SOME TIME AGO.  THE ORIGINALS MAGICALLY APPEARED AFTER I RE-IMPORTED THE CD'S.   I'M GUESSING THAT THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF A BROKEN LINK  I DON'T KNOW HOW TO RECOGNIZE A BROKEN LINK OR HOW TO PREVENT ONE.  AFTER I REALIZED THE PROBLEM, I FOUND THE "FINDING LOST MEDIA AND DOWNLOADS" QUIDE.  I LOCATED THE MISSING MUSIC IN FINDER AND DRAGGED IT TO ITUNES.  DOES THIS COUNT AS A BROKEN LINK?
"If the latter and you use iTunes default settings for managing media, you can drag your media folder to Automatically Add To iTunes.  It should add anything in the folder but not in the library list but ignore things that are."  CAN YOU REPHRASE THIS LAST PARAGRAPH?  I DON'T KNOW WHAT "DEFAULT SETTINGS FOR MANAGING MEDIA" MEANS.
FOR "DRAG MEDIA FOLDER TO AUTOMATICALLY ADD TO ITUNES,"  I THINK YOU MEAN I CAN DRAG   /MUSIC/ITUNES/ITUNES MEDIA/MUSIC   IN FINDER TO THE ITUNES ICON IN THE DOCK.  AND, THAT THAT ACTION WILL REPLACE ANYTHING MISSING IN ITUNES BUT NOT DUPLICATE THE FILES THAT ARE IN ITUNES.  IS THAT RIGHT?
thank you for your time and help, limnos.

  • Recently I was adding music to my Ipod Touch and charging it, afterwards, my Itunes was missing music, does anyone know what happend?

A few days ago, I plugged my ipod touch into my computer to charge it, and also add new music I purchased. When I unplugged the USB cable ( I disconnected it from the ipod first, as I was told to do) I went to look through my music. There was a notification, I don't remember what it said verbatum, but the gist was "177 songs could not be properly synced onto your device". Now, I'm missing music from my itunes library. For example, I purchased two full albums from the same band, now over half the songs from the albums are just gone, they are no longer on my ipod or itunes. Does anyone know what happend, and/or how I can fix this? Please and thank you
P.S. This happend after installing itunes 6, I've noticed many other people are also having problems with it as well

Could be several things. Without more information like what was the wording of the error message I will not even guess.
