Missing my Google mail account on my Mac

I have MobileMe as my main email account, which syncs between my Mac and iPhone. I also have a Google Mail account, which I decided to setup on my iPhone. The problem is, after syncing my devices by MobileMe AND physically connecting the devices via cable, the Google Mail account do NOT show on my Mac??!! I remember setting this up before and the Google Mail account automatically appeared on my Mac, I removed it after a while, but now have decided to set it up again, using the same process, but this time, it is not setting up automatically on my Mac? Also, I changed the name of my MobileMe account on my iPhone, but the change has not been passed to my Mac via either MobileMe OR sync. What is going on? I know these things are done automatically when you sync devices, because it has worked for me in the past with no problem. Can someone shed some light on my problems? Thanks for your help guys!

Sorry, but you didn't do this. Doing what you are wanting is not supported - never has been supported and is not possible.
The point for this option is most people are accessing their email account or accounts with an email client on their computer - people have been doing this long before the iPhone. The option for email accounts under the Info tab for your iPhone sync preferences is for transferring email account settings for a selected email account or accounts from a supported application or email client on your computer to the iPhone's Mail application if you don't want to manually create the account or accounts on your iPhone. This is not a sync process. This is a one way data transfer only for selected email account settings from the Mail.app on your Mac to the iPhone's Mail application.
If your Gmail account was set up with the Mail.app on your Mac, what was the point for deleting the account on your Mac? You could have disabled the account without deleting the account from the Mail.app.
If you want to access your Gmail account with the Mail.app on your Mac, you need to manually create the account with the Mail.app on your Mac. If this is pointless and a waste of time, don't do it. Your first post in this thread was done 25 minutes ago. To create an email account with the Mail.app shouldn't take you longer than a minute or two.

  • Mail Account sync from mac to iPhone

i cant sync my mail accounts from my mac to my iphone 4! the register "info" isnt there in iTunes.
so i have to type all the settings on the iphone again. with mountain lion it was really easy to sync my mail accounts. why is this function not included in mavericks?

I've got the same problem. I need my iMac to talk to my iPhone but it's not doing anymore. I also tried creating a randon Playlist in iTunes and it didn't sync that either. I don't want iCloud as it confuses matters and gives me double entries, I'll let you know if I find a work around.

I have my yahoo mail as my mail account on my mac mini.  While I am reading my emails, I keep having to give my yahoo password and "sign in" every few minutes.   What is going on?

Network errors can cause the password dialog.
The correct answer to a Mail.app password dialog is almost always cancel, too.

  • Google Mail Account in Mail5 on Lion?

How can i install Google Mail Account in Mail5 on Lion?
I have Lion and Mail5. Will install IMAP Account from Google Mail. But they dont Work

Do you have the IMAP server turned on within the GMail account itself? It is not something that GMail has turned on by default; you must go into your GMail settings on the GMail site to do.
I won't bore you or anyone with the steps on how to do that. Google has very direct instructions on how to turn on their IMAP through their own Help web pages. Once you have turned on the IMAP interface on Gmail's end, it's just a simple matter of going into Lion's "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" System Preferences applet and supplying your Gmail account's credentials. The applet will take over from there and add Gmail goodies to your Mail 5 and iCal.

  • Yahoo mail account drops out randomly. I have 2 yahoo mail accounts on my Mac. The primary account works fine but the second account loses connection.

II have 2 yahoo mail accounts on my Mac. The primary account works fine but the second account loses connection. When I put in the password I get a message that it is not the correct password. The only way round it appears to be to go into Yahoo on Safari, log out then log bck in again. If I then go back into Mail and right click on the account I cn then get mail for this account without having to enter a password. The problem only started when I installed Lion, but is still the same in Mountain Lion.

Enter the details of her second account at system preferences> mail, contacts & calendars.

  • Why can't I add Google Mail account since upgrading to ios8.3?

Tryinh to add Google Mail account to iPhone 5c with ios8.3
it asks for email and password sign in and then goes back to the add account page.

If you have two-step verification turned on for your email account, you'll have to get instructions from your provider on how to set up your account on a mobile device.

  • I have two google mail accounts, one is work, one is home. I prefer to keep things separate. On my iPad, formerly had no problem checking each account. Now when I log into either account, my poor iPad acts like its spinning its head.

I have two google email accounts - one is personal, the other professional. I like them being separate. Until a few days ago, my ipad could pull up either account I needed at the time. Now, though, when I try to pull up either account after signing in, the line above the blue line (sorry I'm new to this and don't know the terms) switches rapidly between the two account names and nothing appears below where the mail should be. What do I do? Thanks

    Update to above question:
    Hello All,
To anyone with the same problem described above, on THEIR iPad (if it is running iOS 7.0.2):
Go to Settings; Mail, Contacts, Calendars; DELETE your *******@btinternet.com e-mail account, that you originally set up either using 'Other', or the 'BT' option which I am sure was in the list previous to the iOS 7 update.
Then ADD a NEW account choosing YAHOO from the list of options. DO NOT USE 'OTHER'.
Enter the correct details just as you (almost certainly) had already done in your previous attempts using 'other'.
When you see the 'verifying......' and 'the blue ticks' you should be able to exit settings and open your mail app and then receive all your 'old' e-mails again, AND be able to SEND as well.
All my 'old' e-mails, were NOT found in the 'old e-mail' folder though. THEY are still in my inbox.
So this fix worked for me.
After I deleted my account from 'OTHER' and put it in Yahoo, I like other people also ended up with more folders.
I hope this works for you on YOUR Apple devices.

  • Google Mail account on YouTube?

Has anyone here had any luck using Google Mail to set up a YouTube account which works with their Apple TV?
I tried before and I managed to Log in on the Apple TV, but it all went a bit weird, 'cos it kept saying invalid username on the Apple TV and my favourites wouldn't show up.

Ok, well I answered the question myself. You CAN use a Google Mail e-mail address with YouTube and the Apple TV. The only catch is, when you Sign Up for your YouTube account, don't use the "Log in with your Google account" option. Instead, fill in the blue form under "Create Your YouTube Account". It's that simple.

  • Two Google mail accounts in Mail cannot send properly

I recently added a business email that was set up through google mail to Apple Mail.  Both boxes receive mail fine. However, when I try to send from my business email it is delivered through my personal.  When I try to edit the outgoing server to differentiate the two accounts Mail gives an error message that it cannot connect & defaults to online.   I have tried numerous options with no success.  Ironically, the emails perform perfectly on an Iphone but not a Macbook Pro.  Any thoughts?  Thank you

Click the extra one that you want to delete, then when it's highlighted, click the minus sign in the lower left corner to delete it.

  • Delete mail account on old mac

    Hi.
I am about to clean an old mac book pro after some years use. How do I deleta all mails and mail accounts. My daugther will get the mac and insert her own mail accounts, and I want to be sure all my stuff is aout ?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
The best you can do is to create a new user for your daughter and remove yours, so she will have something similar to a new Mac but keeping the apps you installed.
To do this, open System Preferences > Users & Groups, press the + button and create a new administrator account. You can let your daughter choose the name and password she wants.
Then, log in her account and open System Preferences > Users & Groups. At the left part of the window you will see all users, so select your old account and press the - button to remove it. You can choose an option to keep your data in a disk image in case you want to recover it later or you can remove everything

  • Do I need another mail account other than mac?

This may be a dumb question, but here goes: as I use my desktop mac mail for sending and receiving all of my mail, including sbc/yahoo mail, I'm wondering why I need the second. Is it because they provide my internet access?
If I used solely mac mail, I'd still have to pay a provider, right? And I'd have the option of using, or not using that mail account, correct?
Now that I'm getting more into dotmac mail on the web, which allows me to access all of my mail from any computer, I'm using yahoo less and less.
Do you see where I'm going? Trying to slim down my Internet travels.
    Thanks!

    Hi Elaine,
You can access your other existing email accounts through Mail.app which it sounds like you are doing, so keeping other email addresses, in addition to .Mac, is purely up to you. Quite a few folks have more than one email address for different purposes if for no other reason than a "junk" address for web sites that require an email address for access. Keeping a "clean" email address for family, friends and personal contacts can be very helpful if you get a lot of spam.
Email accounts are almost always offered thru an internet provider, and not taking advantage of them will not reduce your providers monthly bill. What you are paying for is the access to the internet, whether it be dial up, DSL, or something else. Free email accounts are available from a multitude of different services - Gmail, Netscape, AOL, Yahoo, etc.
You can drop or add email accounts at will. Since you are a subscriber, a look at .Mac Mail aliases might also provide some insight and alternatives.
Apple does not provide internet access, so you still need your provider. .Mac is simply a group of tools and a service integrated together and sold by Apple.
    Hope this helps.
    Good Luck,
    John

  • Can I have two private mail accounts under one Mac account?

Hi. My wife and I share one MacBook Pro. We have one user account set up on the MacBook Pro (i.e., when we turn the computer on, we both use the same sign-on ID and password). We do not want to set up separate accounts.
With this set-up, can we each have our own Mail account? We want to be able to use Mail to access our respective gmail accounts, each of which has its own separate password. We do not want to consolidate both gmail accounts into a single Mail account. Is this possible? Thank you

This is not possible if you wish to prevent each other from seeing the other's email? If you set both email account up in Mail, they will have separate Inboxes (seen by clicking on the small black triangle to expand to show each one), and if you enter the Gmail SMTP twice, taking care each time to give it a different name, and use each account respective email address to Authenticate it, then they will coexist nicely, but not with complete privacy.
Complete privacy is only available with separate User Accounts. In one User Account the underlying files could be read even if two Mail folders were allowed.

  • Mountain Lion has discovered I have a Google Mail account.  I don't want my iCloud/Mac/iCal linked to Googlemail's calendar.  How do I separate them?

I recently upgraded to Mountain Lion and in the process my iCal discovered I have a Gmail account.  How it did that I don't know!  Now it wants to use a gmail-linked calendar as default.  I have never ever used a Google calendar and this is a real nuisance.  How can I decouple iCal from Google without having to close Google down completely?

Go to System Preferences>Mail, Contacts & Calendars select your Gmail account and uncheck the items you don't want to sync.
